Somerset Park Apartments in other cities:
Basic service is adequate, but there are issues I cannot get fixed because you still have emergency orders only in place. So, I cant request a replacement railing on the courtside building entry; or replacement of the over range lights; or ask for attention to the Kirts Blvd entry which is pulling away from the building underneath the door. Without the railing, I have fallen numerous times on the steps up to the entry, which is taller than a normal step and I no longer feel safe getting into the building.
Ok apartment. The common areas get vacuumed but the same spider webs/dead bugs will be there forever. Your car gets broken into, they do nothing not even note the crime and the kicker is this HUGE apartment complex has ZERO cameras! All of this money for rent and no stable security. What a shame! But there is “security guard” who gets paid to sit in the car…Move here if you’re desperate
Stayed here for more than 7 years and moving out now ( should have moved out earlier) called up to ask about my deposit the lady said my deposit will remain for damages. How would she knows without inspecting what my damages are? Clearly they dont want to give you single penny. Please please its a modest request not to get into this apartment. Horrible staff and horrible service.
Our review is not about the apartments as we dont live there yet. Our review of 5 stars is for the leasing officer Shae. Ms. Shae was extremely respectful, helpful, pleasant and courteous.Edit: 1 year ReviewIts been 1 year since we moved to Somerset Park Apartments. The experience has been wonderful. The maintenece department and administation department is helpful, courteus and prompt. The grounds are well maintained, the buildings are supervised for safety and cleanliness. I am glad we chose to move in Somerset.
We are so excited to join this fabulous community! We worked with Shea and she was nothing but helpful and very welcoming. When moving in the apartment was spotless and smelled very clean. Love the security features of the building, we feel very safe and at home here already. So Thankful that we found this wonderful place to call home:)
We moved into our Somerset Apartment at the end of August 2021. Our leasing experience was excellent. Our Sales Consultant, Shae was extremely helpful as was Lellah the Leasing Manager. After moving in we immediately experienced several AC issues. Both issues were reported to Bradley in In the Service Department the next morning and were repaired that same afternoon. Outstanding service by all.Thank You!!!Rick & Gale Kramer
I moved in July 28 and honestly have not had the best experience. The front door has been broken since I moved in with a sign saying “they’re working on it.” I feel something like this should be prioritized as it’s a safety concern. I have submitted various maintenance requests for other things too (the towel holder in the bathroom was broken when I moved in and the tub drain was clogged) and maintenance never responded. I think the ventilation in the apartment building may not be the best either because I smell strong cooking aromas from neighbors at all times of the day. While the units themselves are nice, I would recommend looking elsewhere.
My wife and I had some issues with our first apartment selection and we were feeling so stressful thinking there were no solution. But after talking with Ryszard Szlenkier (Resident manager) the situation became a whole new experience. He was very attentive and put a lot of effort and time into making us feel comfortable and finding a new apartment for us. He was exceptionally thoughtful throughout the whole process and now we are so much happy to live here and being part of this community. It is very nice to have supportive people who genuinely care to make a difference. The community is amazing.
I have been calling the emergency maintenance line since 10 am because my heat isn’t working. It is now 1pm and still no one has fixed my heat. It is 30 degrees outside and somehow, not having heat isn’t a priority or emergency.Update: staff showed up with no mask on. Said because the furnace downstairs was working, there was nothing he could do to fix the heat in my apartment and was told to just give me a space heater. Refused to give me a number to contact the maintenance supervisor. When you call for maintenance it goes to an answering service who just passes the message along. The thermostat is steadily going down and the apartment is getting colder and colder and this is not a priority to this lazy team.
Our selection process for our new place was extremely easy with Renee Card on our side. She made everything so much easier. She never tired of the phone calls and questions we had. She had impeccable service. We had some unfortunate move-in upsets and Renee was right there to help us through it.
Its one of the better apartment complexes in Troy. Good facilities, Maintenance is usually quick, leasing and administrative staff are friendly and supportive. They do have a bizarre policy of not having the same person sign another lease for another apartment, need to have a gap of 6 months.
Pretty nice place, relatively quiet area, and the apartments are up-kept to a relatively high standard. I did end up finding and catching a mouse in the apartment, which I’m hoping is a one-off situation. Mice don’t particularly bother me, since I have a cat, but I could see this being a potential nuisance to other residents. Also, the management staff has been professional and polite with me. Though there was some confusion as to which apartment I was supposed to move into prior to signing. Overall, a pretty good experience.
I highly recommend not living here . Management only knows how to read their scripted lines . They give you solutions to your problems with out accommodating other factors . The apartments are remodeled but not the hall ways . Neighbors are the worst . It’s large families packed in one apartment . It’s ridiculous. The tenants run these apartments not management . If you are someone that has a reasonable standard of living , look else where
First off, we are new to Michigan. We’ve received thus far an Impeccable apartment offering many upgrades and excellent ocation upon move in. It’s a pleasure to work with Management! When requesting service, they are prompt, courteous and professional! We could not be more thankful as a family and grateful that we’ve chosen Somerset park apartments as our residence.
I had an amazing experience with my whole application and leasing process. I had a lot of help from Ms. Renee! She is 10/10 amazing and helpful. She was there any time I needed to ask any questions or needed to be informed with information about the apartment. She was by my side throughout the whole application process and made me feel comfortable along the way. The community is amazing and it has been even better with the help of Renee. 😉
I LOVE MY NEW APARTMENT!! Id say that most of the reviews that Ive read accurately describe my tenancy so far at SPA. Its true the Black Ants are atrocious and the centipedes are annoying. Ortho Home Defense has helped with the ant issue. Make sure you read the 10 page lease carefully as Ive discovered much of what Ive read about the multitude of fees is quite accurate. The WALLS ARE VERY THIN!! This is very true as well. I can literally hear my downstairs neighbors kids running through the apartment at like 6am! Overall, very nice, friendly, active community. Neighbors walk, jog or ride their bikes and I feel very safe. Maintenance responds very quickly even for minor issues and the guys are always cordial and friendly. Ladies in the office are very helpful, and friendly. Initially the interactions felt a bit rushed but it is a large complex. Hopefully next year the pools will open but my kids enjoy the park on premise.
Have been living here almost a year, the area is nice, I live in an updated apartment and my neighbors are lovely. The walls are paper thin and you can hear your neighbor below you talking at an indoor voice. The staff respond to maintenance requests fairly quickly although it took three visits to fix our furnace in the middle of winter as well as a visit from Consumers Energy because it was not fixed the first few times even though they marked it as fixed. Consumers tagged the furnace as unsafe and turned it off to prevent a fire as the smell of burning rubber intoxicated the entire building. After this the furnace was properly fixed by the apartment staff, they were overall nice and loaned us a space heater during this time. Overall, the staff are nice, the apartment we are in is nice, my husband and I enjoy the area and our neighbors.
So check this out.Renee was absolutely ONE OF A KIND. She was very thorough in explaining the floor plans and giving us a tour of the complex. I love how personable and AUTHENTIC she is. She’s extremely prompt through email and text and i can tell she loves her Job which is a plus. What you see is literally what you get with her and I couldn’t have had a better experience! If you go to these apartments ASK FOR RENEE. YOU WILL BE SO PLEASED WITH THE SERVICE YOU ARE GOING TO WANT TO TIP HER.😂😂 Me and my girlfriend Absolutely love Renee. she’s SUPERB.
Lived for 4.6 years. Overall Nice place to live inFavorites: greenery with ample trees 🌳 🌲 walkways. Nice neighborhood.Centre place located between major shopping malls.Unfavorable:Very expensive. Apart from rent, overhead charges are premium.Management is strict always go by rule book 📖.No personal consideration. Only annual contracts allowed.
This is not a place for black mothers I live here three years and my building is predominantly Indian they have congregated in hallways to gossip , gang stalk so I closed my blinds try to one up and watch every move not to mention the mean spirit Maintanence people I hope to depart to better opportunities.
If I could leave a half star I would. 6 months in we still have some of the same issues in our apartment from when we moved in. We do not plan on staying past our one year. We had to fight to even see the unit before we moved in. Once we got to see the unit were were assured everything would be 100% ready. When we moved in it was clear they never bothered doing a final walk-through as closet doors were not hung properly. Chalk all over the walls on the front of the unit (chalk is still there after multiple complaints about it). $2000 a month and this place is not worth it. The space is nice but the quality doesnt even meet what I would call apartment quality. The walls are not painted it is tinted primer and if anything touches it leaves marks. They decided to make the unit hardwood floors by ripping up the carpet exposing nail holes everywhere. I had to fight to get carpet put in. Once the carpet was put in I was told the rent would be $15 a month cheaper they still have not decreased the rent. The walls of the basement leak after they came out to fix it. The upstairs of the townhouse does not heat up adequately at all. These are just a few of the things that have gone on and I dont plan to recommend anyone here.
The management is very unresponsive and insensitive . We had raised a concern multiple times over a noisy neighbor and there has been no resolution. Also they dont respond to any of the emails. The walls are super thin and if you get a noisy neighbor , then you are going to have a hard time staying here. I would be updating the review in case management care to respond to the repeated followup emails and concerns raised by us from a very long time.
Worst apartment in Troy. Please stay away from it, horrible administrative services they dont care if any of the appliances are not working, if you get locked out they charge you 65$ to re- enter. If you call for any service the staff shows you bad attitude plus they show off after a week to fix it. I really recommend some other apartments in Troy but definately not Sommerset Apartments. Slowly they are loosing credibility and also renters.
Renee has helped me throughout the entire application process, from the start of the unit tour to picking my keys up for move in! She is very personable, communicates extremely well, and answered all of my questions thoroughly. Thank you so much for all of your help, information, and guiding me through the process of my new apartment!
Misleading website, poor customer serviceWebsite stated multiple apartments available within my timeframe to move in. I applied and paid the application fee.Received a call the following morning stating there aren’t any apartments within my time frame (1 month in advance) and that they will not be refunding the app fee. They went forward and charged me after I clearly stated in multiple form submissions and the application , my intended date of move in.Very rude customer service on phone and via email. Would not recommend.Received a follow up the next day. Nice guy - no resolution. Just said that there website “isn’t always accurate” - refuses to refund the application fee.To clarify website said 4 available 1 bedroom apartments in August (1 month ahead of time) when in actuality there is 0. Beware of dealing with these folks.
We moved in updated apartment last Thanksgiving break and we love the updated unit. But the issue is with Washer & Dryer from day 1. They are installed after 2 months of our move in. Dryer came damaged so it took another 2 weeks for maintenance people to come and replace the side panel of dryer since there is a dent in dryer which is making scratching sounds. Recently, water is not venting out from washer and it’s been a week already we complained and no one came in yet. Even, window mesh screen damaged since day 1. Maintenance guy noted it down and said will install once there is stock in inventory but no follow up since last 6 months. I am writing down here hoping maintenance people will be more responsive and improve tracking of notes if any if they cannot resolve it immediately.Update: Washer issue is resolved
I have stayed at Somerset Park apartments for 3 years and I can say its absolutely the best apartment complex in the region. Ill lay out some pros and cons for would-be renters for ease of their decision making. Pros- you feel a sense of calm the moment you enter the Somerset park region. The landscape, architecture and style of the buildings, beautiful walkways, large golf course, swimming pools, everything is picture perfect plus its walking distance to the Somerset Mall (which again is the most posh mall in the region). Even appliances Somerset provides is of high quality and good brand and maintenance service (if availed) is very quick. Now the Cons- Apartments are typically OVERPRICED. Youre likely going to get more affordable options nearby. With such a classy apartment complex, I found their gym rather shabby and small. Lastly, this is nothing against Somerset, but Troy is a very family oriented city. Ive found the nightlife severely missing, so if hitting the pubs and clubs and having a downtown to walk around is in your mind, you may consider Royal Oak.In summary- If shelling out a little more is not your concern, I would definitely recommend you to rent an apartment at Somerset Park! Hope this helps.
The tour scheduling, explaining the move in specials, having the paper work ready, handing over the keys on time, everything was good. I got a spacious 1B1B with storage in the basement for a reasonable price. One area, I didn’t like was regarding the cleanliness of my apartment & basement storage space on my move-in day. Later I talked to Jacob and he helped in getting it cleaned by next day.
Everything about this apartment is exactly what I was looking for. I was very specific with what kind of features I wanted and Matt from the leasing office was great help. Carpet is only in the bedrooms and the kitchen is up to date, the washer and dryers never give me problems. Everything works properly and the few times I had an issue with the AC, it was fixed immediately and all I had to do was send a message online to maintenance and the issue was always resolved within 24 hours. It’s pretty much sound proof and the location is very safe as it is very family and pet friendly. A little pricier than most places but you are getting what you pay for.
Have enjoyed the nature and grounds very flexible staff and extremely helpful and courteous. I only desire to see more upgraded and quality renovation to exterior and interior of buildings to match the location and beauty of the apartment upgrades and quality paint jobs to the building doors with new door knob fixtures. Renovations and quality work to match the cost of living in the community.

2022-06-09I very rarely write reviews, but l wanted to take the time to leave a review with regards to the leasing consultants at Somerset Park Apartments. All of the leasing consultants were very welcoming and pleasant. Even so, that l wanted to give a special recognition to one leasing consultant specifically, and her name is Renee.Renee is very professional, knowledgeable and helpful, which in turn offers excellent customer service. She is extremely knowledgeable of the Somerset Park Apartments and the amenities the complex has to offer. She did a wonderful job of giving me a tour of the apartments. She explained all of the different options and floor plans that were available and she even emailed me videos of the apartments that l didnt have the opportunity to see at the time of my visit. She goes above and beyond great customer service. Before and after my application process Renee responded to my calls and emails right away, and even responded to emails after hours. If there was any assistance that l needed She helped me with it and followed up to see if my concerns were resolved. If you are looking to lease at the Somerset Park Apartments, l highly recommend you go in and see Renee. She made the leasing process easy, comfortable and quick.

2022-05-09First and foremost, I would like to say that the customer service that I received from Renee Card exceeded my expectations. Even though I missed our initial appointment, and I couldn’t get into the office that same day until 20 minutes before they closed, Renee really went above and beyond to give me the best tour of the housing complex. She showed me multiple units so that I could get a feel for each type of apartment that they had available at Somerset Park. She also stayed after hours to answer all of my questions that I had for her. Her patience and consistency was on full display, and it’s something that I truly appreciate. I would highly recommend Renee to anybody that is looking for an apartment/townhouse in the Troy area. I never really write reviews, but I wanted to share my experience that I had with the Leasing Consultant Renee. Thank you for everything that you do!I also would like to say that the entire Leasing Consultant team they had in the office the day of my visit was extremely friendly, and welcoming. I just want to say that I appreciate you all as well, because y’all make a great team there!-Tyrell Davis Sr.

2022-03-08We lived at Somerset for 2.5 years. At first it was great, it was a smooth transition, they gave us a good deal, made us feel very welcome. However as we stayed longer, maintenance issues would come up and every issue, it would take them longer to come fix it. Which was fine at first, until we had a mice issue. This happened THREE times and the second time, it took them 10 days to come to the apt to patch up the hole we found in our pantry. I called them, talked to management several times when the issue was not getting resolved. 10 DAYS! We had to take the matter into our own hands, and get mice traps and caught them ourselves. It was very inappropriate how long they came and how long we had to live with that. HUGE MICE ISSUE which is very unsanitary and did not make it a fun place to live. On top of that, VERY THIN WALLS -- you can hear your neighbors all the time.To add to the above, we bought a house and had to end our contract early. The lease itself had no documentation of early lease termination fee and they asked us to pay extra 2 months of rent. It was written NOWHERE on the lease. We tried to have a discussion with them since it was a very expensive fee however we were not heard.Do not recommend living here unless you like living with mice.

2022-01-08My interaction with the leasing department has been great so far, no issues there. The apartment is updated with almost everything new. One concern with Somerset Apartments is the maintenance. I have been sitting with few tickets for last two weeks, I have no idea when they will be addressed. The office says, they are addressing every apartments non-emergency tickets and eventually mine will be addressed. But if there is no SLA, not sure how the maintenance tickets will be timely addressed. The rent is on the higher side, but cant do much there.

2022-05-13Ok y’all. If there ever was a person that is the epitome of customer relations, it’s Renee. This amazing woman helped me set everything up to get a unit and is so patient and kind and I appreciate all that she has done for me. Being my first apartment ever, she walked me through the process and was there for me in anything I needed or the endless series of questions that I had. Everyone in the office is so sweet and willing to help, but Renee went above and beyond for me. Looking forward to a wonderful year there!! Thank you so much Renee!!!

2022-05-14Renee was quick to respond after i contacted the company, sometimes even after-hours. Signing the lease was easy and straightforward, even though i never set foot in the county, and Renee helped me along the way. Looking forward to moving in.

2022-05-28It’s a decent place to live but very inconsistent with upholding the lease. Of course we cannot smoke in our apartment but we can own aggressive dogs which is completed banned, according to the “lease”. I have never seen so many German Shepherds and Pit Bulls in my life. I’m hesitant to take my daily walks. But they’ll make sure to uphold everything elseLet me add that the dogs don’t wear leashes either

2021-11-29It has been just a few weeks since my move in, but I can definitely say I love the neighborhood and my apartment. The leasing process is what you would expect but Tarina (my leasing agent) made it easy and efficient. The apartment was recently renovated it has all I need and all the appliances and systems work as expected.
