Wow, what a great local businesses! I was greeted warmly when I walked in and they were quick to offer help if I had any questions. They even gift wrapped the item I bought when I told her it was for my mothers anniversary. On top of that, the gift wrapping was amazing! They really take pride in what they do!
What a great store! Why buy cheap stuff made in (insert Country here), when you can buy local, handmade pottery (they also have bird feeders, lawn chairs, outside decor, and so much more!) for your loved ones for birthday, Christmas, or any other event. They also have great music playing in the store! You guys are awesome. You should also check out their store in downtown Petoskey, NorthGoods.
I have just received my order of one polished Petoskey stone, and of 3 orders of unpolished ones, totaling 13 fossils, all carefully chosen and well wrapped for maximum protection to my home in Colorado. My order arrived in less than a week. My polished stone for $35. was beautifully finished and measured about 2 1/2 “, filling the palm of my hand. This store is top-notch and I heartily recommend it. Thanks, Sturgeon River Pottery!
It goes without saying that Sturgeon River has amazing pottery! It’s definitely a must for locals and fudgies alike. Couple that with a great staff and the only thing they are missing is great music in the background. Oh, wait a minute- they DO play great hits from the 70’s and 80’s in the background! Talk about a way to keep us in the store shopping! Thanks a lot! Lol
Very cool shop with tons of different crafted and unique gifts! We looked at different works carved from wood/stone, glass pieces, all sorts of pottery of course and metal. I would have loved to see where they work, but it was closed when I happened to stop by! Definitely a great spot to stop by and check out. Even if its just to see all the wonderful handmade goods!
This store is adorable!! They have tons of cute outdoor decor, made from wood and metal, as well as a store full of pottery. You can pick up any kind of bird feeder there too! Not to mention they always have the store dog wandering around looking for someone to pet him.
One of the best pottery shops Ive ever been in! Beautiful colours and patterns in the glazes. Unique pieces and a huge variety. Take a glimpse at the studio on the top floor too. Admire the beautiful Petosky stones of different sizes. Bring your wallet and purse. You wont want to leave empty handed.
We would highly recommend this business!! The man (I’m sad to say I didn’t get his name but kuddos to you!!!) who answered the phone took time to describe gift options for a hospital delivery, kept it in our price range, and included a speedy delivery to the McLaren hospital!! He was friendly, patient and worked with our price range. If you are looking for excellent customer service and quality, Sturgeon River Pottery is your shop!
They create the best frost proof pottery for your garden. They have a variety of garden decors for sale and Michigan state themed items. The location can be easily noticed from the highway. The staff is very helpful and knowledgable about the products. The prices can be on the high side, but most are well worth it.
This is an amazingly stuffed store, full of great Michigan products including our favorite decorative tiles made by several artists. There is also everything you might want to jazz up your yard or garden including bird feeders, Adirondack chairs, sculptures & wind chimes.
This place is so much more than pottery we spent so long looking at all the multiple things that they had to offer it was endless I really liked everything that was in there and you could tell the skill level of what was created was unlike anything I had ever seen in terms of the pottery...by far this place is far far more than just pottery were really really glad that we stopped during our trip to the area....we even ended up going all the way up to the top where two gals were creating they were really open to sharing their experiences and how much they love doing what they do
Went in on a whim for some late Christmas shopping with my son. Dana, the owner, took us on a tour of the whole shop, and even showed us the studio upstairs... Blown away! What appears to be knick-knacky lawn art shop from the outside is a wonderland of pottery art and amazing gift ideas all packed in with the most extensive bird feeding supply store Ive ever seen. Very impressed.
It is a neat place to go for poetry and other items like yard furniture and eclectic knick knacks. I bought a wall mount bottle cap opener in the shape of michigan. It is beautiful! I will say a lot of the pottery does not change much, but for out of towners it is a great place to buy that thing you want to remember your vacation!
This place has a ton of great products, and its definitely worth stopping in. Normally its a challenge taking young kids to a place with so many knick knacks, but this place has free popcorn you can scoops into small paper bags to keep your kids distracted as you shop.

2022-05-27What a wonderful amazing store. We got there just before closing and the staff welcomed us in. Such an eclectic artistic collection of made in Michigan objects and wonderful creations. I would love to spend more time shopping but did not want to keep the staff so late.

2021-06-17We must have passed this place 4 time before we stopped in. So happy we did. Hand made pottery from coffee mugs to beer mugs to chip and dip trays. They have gardening decorations, rubs and spices and Petoskey stone gifts. Next time we are in town we are sure going to stop in again.

2019-08-17If you want yard decorations, make this a stop. Plenty of bird boxes and outdoor seating too. The Adirondack chair selection is worth trying out. There are some high quality pieces to choose from. The pottery is beautiful. They house a huge selection from a large lineup of artists. I found several pieces and collections I loved.
