We drove 4 hours for our daughter to skate with the Meijer AAA Tier 1 Girls Ice hockey team. Nice building. Clean inside and out. Got reports from my daughter that the ice was really good as well. Not bad for the middle of July in the heat and humidity. The staff were excellent and the two young men at Peranis were really cool to talk with. Looking forward to making more trips here in the future!
A good barn for youth/adult hockey. The rink staff and Lansing hockey club are very easy to work with and helpful. Friendly environment for my daughter. People complaining about the rink not having modern upgrades are just spoiled. I grew up playing at Yost, A2 Ice Cube and Veterans Arena in Ann Arbor, theres nothing wrong with this rink compared to those and honestly the ice here is better than all three.
The refferees hear are cheaters (I am a goalie for Plymouth Compuware peewee 2021 ) the refs dont fix the nets if its off its stubs some offsides they dont call when they should have . Besides the refs . The rink is pretty nice they have a peranis hockey store there and also a peranis vending machine that has pucks , tape, laces, neck guards.
The rink had heat!! The stands are terrible. Awful view of the ice. Only was in one of the rinks. Netting was terrible. Old and tattered. So terrible on the goals that refs called a goal when the puck was under the plastic covering to the metal goal bars looking like it was in the net. From behind the net?? Come on refs! They waved it off after the kids showed them.
Facilities need work, ceiling tiles, paint and functioning showers. Many individuals have repeatedly informed the rink manager, that a particular locker room #6, has one properly functioning shower. Were told a plumber has been called but after this past weekend, I can sadly report, that said showers still dont operate. Paid good money to play hockey at this rink, but it is time to find a rink that can provide what they sell, good CLEAN fun. Hard to get clean with showers that dont work!!!
My kids have been through many skating and hockey classes, I play adult league and a lot of pick-up and my son plays youth hockey so we spend a lot of time here (and at other rinks around the state to compare). Good, no-thrills facility, clean and modern - gets the job done as it should. Most importantly, however, great staff.Elevation (advanced training) and Peranis (pro shop) are great on their own but combined with Suburban, a nice asset to local hockey community.
I played at this rink for the past two years in their mens league and its trash. I highly recommend you do not play at this rink if you enjoy a fair environment with semi-even teams. This year, our season started out fine with us winning games as well as losing games until the rink decided that they would allow players from higher divisions to also play in the lower division, AND pay less! We didnt win a single game past that. The league claims they will balance the teams. but thats an outright lie. No rosters have been touched for the past multiple years from conversations with people who have played for YEARS! Tonight was the cherry on top however, when they decided to move our ONE playoff game without mentioning it to anyone. Poorly organized, poorly officiated, I would strongly recommend you take your money elsewhere.
If I could give zero stars, I would. I played two seasons of adult league hockey here from 2014-15, and the director of the league is terrible. Nate claimed to be available by phone or email, but would not actually answer the phone or respond to emails. Our first team during the 2014-15 fall season was put together by Suburban, and Nate neglected to get us a goalie for the first 6 weeks. Good thing the Zamboni drivers can suit up and play for us though! When our team eventually found our own goalie, Nate made sure to take credit for finding us one, the one and only time he communicated with us. The scorekeeping was similarly poor quality, where run time apparently means you wait for the refs to finish eating their food with the clock still running. Expect to lose 3-4 minutes a game due to this.If youre interested in playing adult hockey in the Lansing area, do yourself a favor and play over at the Summit. They have a hockey director who actually responds to questions and concerns, and score keepers who pay attention. I wouldnt waste my money on another league here until they replace the director with someone who can competently run an adult league.

2022-07-14Ive been playing mens leagues here for years. The facility is clean and the ice is good. The league management does a good job of organizing and controlling the arena. My only issue would be the one tiny locker room I always end up in.

2022-02-26Showed up at 3:27 pm for open skate and they sold out…open skate starts at 3:30. Our daughter was very upset and so we’re a lot of other families. If you want to go skate here I suggest showing up hours before to form a line. The staff was very rude and when we asked if we could wait for others to leave so we could buy tickets they treated us like we were being crazy.

2018-02-28Went here today for a 90-minute mid-day skate. Had an absolutely terrific time. The facility has two full-size sheets and GREAT ice - smooth and hard. The other areas are open, clean, and inviting. So many ice rinks are dumps; it was a real treat to be able to skate at such a first-rate facility.

2021-12-20If we could give Suburban Ice East Lansing 10 stars, we would! Not only are their classes affordable, they offer multiple, 100% FREE opportunities for local children to experience the many joys and challenges of ice skating and hockey. It was during the October 2021 free girls hockey trial weekend that we were first introduced to Suburban Ice and it truly was love at first skate! Our four-year-old daughter fell in love with skating and the amazing instructors at Suburban Ice that day; seven weeks later she has been promoted from SAM 1 to SAM 2 and looks forward to every class all week long. Our daughter went from never stepping foot on ice, to being scared to leave the wall and falling on her bum, to gliding and hitting around a hockey puck in just SEVEN WEEKS! If you or your child is even considering giving ice skating or hockey a try - DO IT! Suburban Ice is for children, women, and men of all ages! My only regret is that we are an active duty military family who will one day have to say farewell to Suburban Ice; however, we will never forget the unique love this institution has instilled in our young childs heart. ♥️

2021-02-08Nice ice rink. We have taken our kids here a few times for birthday parties and girl scout trips. They are typically very accommodating and friendly. They have different types of skaters and also they have different implements for the kids that are not the best of skaters and/or are new to ice skating. They have a couple different areas for people to skate as well so they can accommodate multiple sessions at once. They do different leagues and schedule time for practicing as well.
