Stopped by here instead of going to a Starbucks. So so glad we did. The latte I had was superb and far better then most coffee shops Ive been to and the brownies fantastic. The bathrooms were very clean and the baristas extremely friendly and sweet. We will be back anytime we are in the area!
After dinner at The Chop House, we walked here for coffee. I got the cold brew lavender. I wasnt sure at first if it was something I would like but once I tried it, oh my word it was so good! The barista was so sweet and when she found out we were out celebrating our anniversary she gave us a danish on the house! Such a cute little place! Definitely will go back and definitely recommend to others!
I feel like its never a good sign when youre greeted by a flight of stairs the minute you walk in the door, but downtown GR aint exactly known for its accessibility. It seems like a good study space (if youre a walkie), with tolerable music and lots of seating. My partners Americano was smooth and delicious; I like my peppy bark mocha, except for the oat milk being burnt (I suppose thats what I get for having oat milk).
This is such a cute little place! I love the chill vibe. You can come in and grab a quick something to go, or bring your computer or books and stay to study for a while. They had quite an overwhelming menu, and even after looking at it for five minutes, I still had no clue what to order. The barista wasnt much help when I asked for her suggestions or the customer favorites. I would come back, but I would want to come with someone who is familiar with the place so they can give suggestions on what to order.
This is my new favorite coffee shop. Brought our 3 youngest kids, needed a quick dinner and found nice sandwiches for them. I ordered a 16 oz breve with only 1 shot and they lowered the price since it normally comes with 2 shots. And the breve tasted awesome, best breve Ive had! They had a lot of people coming in but no one seemed to have to wait long to order or get their drinks/food. Great feel, open space, lots of tables, nice decorations, even decorated for Chinese New Year. We came back later in the evening for dessert and again had a great experience. We plan to be back. Might drive to GR just to go there.
The people that work at this location are super kind and make consistently great drinks. The cold brew is delicious and they have a decent variety of teas as well. Pre-pandemic, it was a good meeting location and a close space to get work done when I didn’t want to be at home.
This is the most welcoming coffee shop in town, and all of the Baristas are always super kind! All baristas wear masks, and they have sanitation stations right at the door for you before you enter. The mobile app makes it very convenient to place my order and tip my barista. My favorite items on the menu are the Peanut Butter Pie and the Dreamy Cold Brew. They also have ample sugar free options!
Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea proves the adage looks can be deceiving right. Located just north of downtown Grand Rapids, its a beautifully designed coffee shop in a redeveloped apartment building. The high ceilings, open seating, and the mural on the wall are enticing. However, after visiting hundreds of coffee shops around the world, this is the worst one Ive been to for coffee. The menu is large, full of options. I ordered the Dragon Eye, a coffee drink with sweetened condensed milk, and my wife ordered an Americano. When we received both, they tasted like water. I am not exaggerating when I say they didnt taste like coffee. We asked for an additional shot and it did nothing. They sell a variety of food and we settled on three mini doughnuts. They were dry and not good at all.If you live nearby, it seems like a fun spot to work, but if you go, maybe order tea. Hopefully its better than their coffee.
They forget at least one item every single time I order from here (anything from a condiment to a drink), Ive lost so much money on missing items. They also squish every bakery item into oblivion when they pack it. Good food, bad business. Every few weeks I forget how annoying it is, and I am always disappointed when I get my order.
I work from home on a usual basis and Sweetwaters is my go to coffee shop. Sweetwaters is very open with plenty of seating and natural light. In addition to coffee and tea, they have an assortment of treats that are showcased near the front of the store. The staff is always friendly, many times providing samples of drinks or the soup of the day. I will continue using Sweetwater as a place to grab good coffee and to effectively complete work.
Complete cluster for pick up. I had to call 4x because it kept going to their machine. Their directions say to park in front of planter (that is non existent) and call. Once I finally got through she had me pull around the corner and park where it literally says: NO PARKING.I get that its a pandemic and its difficult running a business in these unprecedented times...but if you want to open and keep your customers have a solid plan. Not one that changes day by day and based on who is working.Never again will I spend my $$ here.
My first experience with Sweetwaters and Im already excited to try it again! Sadly, I wasnt able to visit in person given the current pandemic (their website says theyre offering Takeout but I opted to stay home and have it delivered) but was delighted to find that I could have it brought to me vie Uber Eats.I tried their Pumpkin latte and tiramisu - both incredibly delicious! I just cant pass up anything pumpkin/fall flavored, no matter what time of year.(yes, Im that basic b**** and proud of it;) The latte was so yummy, not overly sweet and it arrived at a perfect temperature - with lots of tantalizing fall like flavors swirling throughout. The Tiramisu was everything it should be and more. Sweetwaters is the Bomb.com, THANK YOU for staying open during this tumultuous time!

2022-02-23I would give them 6 stars if I could… I’m very fond of cinnamon rolls, and theirs is delicious! And the French Vietnamese Au Lait is excellent. The staff are wonderful, and there’s plenty of seating. I walked so not certain about the parking, but it looks like it is easily found. Lots of options for pastries. Definitely a coffee shop worth exploring. I’m not a tea drinker but they have a large variety of tea available. Long walk but I’ll be back.

2022-04-09The place is amazing , bright, open , colorful art and welcoming. The staff are lovely, made me a Cortado, even though not on the menu 👏👍.But the Espresso is more on the bitter side and not having whole milk further took the taste down.

2022-01-15Lovely coffee shop that was great for working on my laptop. There was lots of seating and outlets and the wifi was solid. I worked for half a day here and had a very tasty latte.

2022-01-14Great place to stop and warm up on a chilly morning. Had the matcha latte with oat milk and it was so good! Worked half a day from my laptop. Plenty of indoor seating so you can space out and plugs at most seats. It was a little noisy for video calling but people could hear me fine. Will definitely stop by again when Im in town!

2022-01-23Chill vibe tea and coffee place with a great selection of baked goods, too. I come here every other week for their Imperial Milk tea, but all of their teas are the bomb. The employees are friendly and the atmosphere is open and airy. Looks like there is a noodle place opening next door soon, so I will have to check that out too. Between tea, Speak EZ nearby, and the incoming noodle place, I might never again need to find a new place for all my necessities.

2021-09-24Hockey brings me to yet another great coffee house! Stopped here on the way to the rink (literally 4 min from Griff’s). Full bodied, great aroma coffee. Dark and rich, hit the spot! They have lots of baked goods and other items to choose from. We couldn’t pass up a few macarons, delicious and perfect consistency. Cool local artwork throughout and most importantly, great friendly staff!! Smiles and kindness are a big part of ratings these days. Plenty of street (metered) parking all around. Large indoor and some outdoor seating as well.
