Comment: After my bad experience at Boulevard vac and sew I gave this place a call and Lisa answered and she told me I could bring in the machine and she would test it for basic functionality as a courtesy. She identified that we had it set up wrong and she made it right and it tested fine. I purchased some thread and took a sewing class flyer that they offer. I really appreciate Lisa for taking the time with me. The charge to service my machine is $119. 👍🏼🏁🍻

Comment: My wifes beloved Babylock Serger had never really worked right after local shops and the factory had tried, thread tensioning issues got to the point that she didnt use it and didnt want to spend any more money for repairs. It was a death match fight to give Tanners a shot at it, turns out the last place I took it should have been the first.The machine has never ever worked this well and my wife is in love again. Thank you very much Rick Martinez for an excellent repair and the very rare debate win. She is almost always right! Thanks again!

Comment: We went in to buy a mechanical sewing machine for my mom. They were very friendly and helpful didnt try to upsell us. However when my mom asked about sewing pattern figures (little decorative elements), they helpfully told us about machines that would provide what she wanted. We ended up buying a more expensive machine but have no regrets. It comes with lifetime lessons, and five years parts and labor warranty (so did the less expensive machine) which should help her not get stuck due to the machine breaking or thinking it could be user error.

Comment: I have been taking classes from Linda for years now. She has taught me from when I didnt even know how to thread the machine. During Covid she has helped me make a beautiful designer dress shirt for my father for his 88th birthday. Without her the shirt wouldnt have been finished on time or nearly as nicely. She knows everything about sewing and has taught me so much about fabrics, sewing tricks, how to make a perfect collar, how to sew a bow on a hat and more. She is a genuine caring and patient person. She knows how to manage a class so that everyone gets their needs met. Most importantly I have seen her teaching children. I cant imagine any teacher more inspiring or patient with children than Linda. I would give her 10 stars 🌟 if this system allowed. Whether you are a beginner or a budding fashion designer and no matter your age, you wont be disappointed if you take a sewing class with Linda.

Comment: This is a mom and pop business that has earned and deserves our support. From sewing machine support and service to sewing classes ( mine were with Linda), 5 stars all around.My then husband bought a sewing machine and serger for me here in 2015. I had these machines serviced at Tanners this May. I received excellent service both then and now. Ian knows sewing machines like the back of his hand and better. He is an honest dealer with an excellent reputation in the community. Rick is Pfaff expert and has recently been very helpful with tips on using my pfaff sewing machine.If you want a quality used sewing machine or serger, this is the place to go.Last but definitely not least, lets talk about the sewing classes with Linda. Recently during quarantine, I have been taking the adult sewing classes. Linda is the most patient and knowledgeable instructor that you can find. Without her I would not have been able to complete on time and professionally a beautiful mens dress shirt for my father for his 88th birthday. He LOVES it!!! Since the completion of that project, she has been teaching me tricks for getting collars to look perfect, how to sew a bow and ribbon onto a hat, how to make a bow/ necktie and how to look at different fabrics both by design (ie plaid) and the material. I have seen her help people create patterns out of existing clothing.The classes are set up for 4 students but Linda finds a way to make sure everyone gets what they need. Linda is kind, diplomatic, and even tempered. She is a loving peaceful person and is excellent in managing children. I have seen her during a childrens class. She is patient and inspires confidence in children as they complete simple to complex projects. If you are a parent and interested in sewing classes for your child, look no further. If you have desires to improve your sewing skills no matter what your age, Tanners Linda is your gal. 5 stars for this establishment all around!

Comment: Purchased a new sewing machine for nieces birthday spent almost $385 only 2 days I had purchased however it was too hard for my niece to grasp since she a beginner, called Tanners told them truth, I got turned down was told it doesn’t work like that!! I could not return it at all, I had receipt and all, I was upset at myself I should have asked before I gave them my credit card over the phone,, quick to take money without letting you know no refunds Make sure you ask questions before you purchase anything from here !! In good faith thought it would be no issue since I had for 2 days in original packaging

Comment: They do excellent work. I got my vacuum cleaner serviced here. I was goint to get two sewing machines done but decided it would be best to buy a new one. They have your sewing needs as well. Bobbins, needles, etc. I was upset that you cant just walk into a department store like Sears to get your sewing equipment. Im very thankful that Tanners is around to supply a seamstress needs.

Comment: This place is fantastic. I took my almost 30 years old Singer sewing machine for a repair. Not only did they do same day turn around, but the machine runs fabulous, better than new. I had this sewing machine serviced at other places, and it has never been this great! I will recommend them and hope to be back next time I need service.

Comment: I don’t know what they do in this magic little vacuum shop, but in an attempt to stop a weird noise, improve the suction on my vacuum & put off buying a new one this year, I got way more than I expected! Their full-service detail ($89.95) gave my vacuum more section that I had when it was brand new. I will definitely be coming back! I feel like I dropped off a vacuum on the way to the dump and picked up a brand new one two days later. Needless to say, I will be coming back!

They greeted me as soon as I entered and was able to quickly get me going in 5 minutes with an apology that the vacuum wouldnt be done right then. LOL. It was ready the next day and the price was just right. Great place that I will be frequenting again!

Comment: I just bought my second machine, Husqvarna Epic, from Ian and couldnt be happier. If youre thinking of investing in a sewing machine and havent sewn in years, they offer free sewing and software classes, if you buy from them. Taking these classes has allowed me to grow from a basic straight-stitch girl to making beautiful embroidered pieces. Ive been going to Tanners for years and will often stop by just to say hi, because they are that awesome!! And no, they didnt pay me to say this :) :)

Comment: This is my favorite place to go for my vacuum cleaning needs. From the cheery woman who greeted me even though it was 10 minutes from closing time on Friday to the great service I received on my vacuum. Johnny lives up to his reputation as the coolest vacuum guy in LA. He fixed my vacuum on the spot and didn’t even make a big deal out of a potentially embarrassing situation with a sucked up sock. Also, on another occasion they accepted my old machine-what a wonderful way to recycle larger appliances. Tanner’s is a wonderful establishment for the community.

Comment: Friendly, but be very clear with your instructions. I live in the area and took my Babyloc Serger there to have the stitch width selector repaired to provide a greater range of width. As it turns out, the machine was functioning as designed. Rather than calling me to advise that the machine was working appropriately and asking if I wanted the machine cleaned and oiled (which I did not), the owner went ahead and performed that service. I paid the $89 for the cleaning and oiling. That service wasnt requested or appreciated as it had been done in the past year. Perhaps $89 is a basic fee that is charged to look at a sewing machine, however I would have appreciated knowing up front that if the machine was working perfectly, I would be charged $89 to be told that.
