Fantastic place to bring your 4 legged family members! Truly a resort for paws. Wonderful and caring staff, clean, love the cams, dogs have a lot of space to play ....closest thing to home...Dazee came home after a week at the resort a happy girl. I sent my husky here after getting told my dog runs too much by another day care center and feeling down about their constant complaints about how my dog had too much energy and was a handful. The Barkshire treated my pup like family day one and I never heard any complaints. It was one of the hardest parts of moving from Michigan, knowing that my furbaby would lose her barkshire family, and I will bring my dog back without hesitation if I move back to Michigan. If youre unsure, send your dog in for a free day, watch on the online cameras and take a tour.
Winston loves coming here. I have been taking him for almost 1 year and he goes once, usually twice a week. He loves being outside in any weather so Im thrilled with their large outside area! All staff is friendly. Id recommended to anyone!
The Barkshire is definitely a 5 star resort for pets!! I took my 5 month old Bulldog puppy there recently for the first time and I could not have been more impressed!! This has got to be the best place for dogs to visit & stay in Michigan!! My dog had a great time and was completely worn out on the way home and for the next 18+ hours!! LOL - he slept in the backseat (on the floor, didnt bother to pull himself up on the seat) and then when I got home he slept the rest of the night and the next day (just about) on his bed! When I took him out to use the restroom his legs shook, like he had a tough workout lol!! I absolutely fell in love with this place and will be taking my dog back SOON!!!! Aside from the great work they do with the dogs, they are one of the most environmentally friendly places I have ever seen! All of their cleaning products are environmentally friendly (many are made by 7th Generation) and they will even be opening a pool thats chlorine free!! If you have never taken your dog to daycare I recommend this place 110% and if you have taken your dog, I suggest switching your dog to The Barkshire you and your dog will not regret it!
My doggy seems to like it there and enjoys group dogging! The staff is friendly and caring. The price is reasonable and they dont charge extra for diabetic dogs. My doggy will board there again when needed.
My puppy really enjoys going to the Barkshire for daycare and i feel like it is a really clean place that is well staffed. However, I repeately have issues when calling to make an appointment or to check in on my puppy. 80% of the time no one is there to answer the phone. Very frustrating!
My dog was traumatized after coming to this kennel. We were already nervous about putting our dog into a kennel, but felt better after hearing they had webcams. We soon found out that the webcams are only on for about an hour a day. What happens when those cameras are off? After a long week of worrying about my dog, I came in to find my dog covered from head to toe in feces. He looked as if we just picked him up off the streets. When asking about my dogs time here, the lady working seemed to know nothing about it. If I could give 0 stars, I would. Will never return.
We love this place!!! Clean facility and the staff is so nice. We love the ability to check in our puppy on our phone/laptop. So lucky we found this place for the newest member of our family.

2021-11-19The Barkshire is my dog’s second home! She is always so happy and excited when I drop her off there. She has a lot of dog friends, and she loves the staff. They truly care about her well being. The new owners are just as accommodating and kind as the former owners, and we have always had clear communication with them regarding our dog’s visits. I highly recommend the Barkshire to anyone looking for day care or boarding. Or both!

2022-05-01EXTRA CHARGES and SCARED DOGS...I used them for the first time last week b/c they have an overnight attendant (James). I happened to be picking my dogs up when James arrived. He told me how much my dogs bark, as if it irritated him. My dogs ran and hid behind the couch when they saw him. When I told management, they said, he is not a people person. And this is who takes care of our pups at night??????They also tried to charge me for a half day of boarding for the same day I was also paying for overnight boarding. Seriously??? I have NEVER heard of a place that assesses two charges for BOTH day and overnight. If you are paying $57 per night to board overnight, why would you also have to pay for the day???

2022-03-20The Barkshire is the best place to bring your dog for doggy day care and boarding!! I love how the dogs are separated into groups based on their size.I have been bringing my dog Cooper, a cockapoo, to the Barkshire for the past 6 years and he loves it!! It really is his home away from home!! He is in the small dog group and loves hanging out with the other small dogs.All of the staff are so friendly and give lots of love to the dogs. You can tell they genuinely love dogs.They have a very large fenced in outside area for the dogs to play and run around and inside they have large areas for each group of dogs. The small dog inside area has couches and TV to make the dogs feel at home.My dog Cooper always comes home tired from playing and is always excited to go back the next day. Barkshire is the best place for your dog. They even have 24 hour staff which is unlike other boarding places.

2021-11-07I have been a Barkshire client for over 10 years, full-time, with four of my dogs. I always brought my dogs here knowing that they were well taken care of. Based on my previous experiences through the years, I loved the Barkshire for my dogs. However, the Barkshire is under new ownership/management as of May 1, 2021. As a result of the new ownership/management, one of my dog’s, who has been at the Barkshire since he was four months old (he is 5 years old now), in the last 3 months, developed an anxiety disorder due to a variety of problems because of ill equipped staff. One incident in particular was when a staff member put the handle from the leash around my dogs neck, causing him to choke, cough and gasp for air. When I called and emailed the owner to express my horror over the choking incident, she failed to respond in a timely manner. The choking incident was not the only problem that occurred after the management/ownership changed hands. Consequently, due to the continued inexperienced and negligent staff, I had to take my dog to a behaviorist for his anxiety. In addition to treating with a behaviorist, my dog now requires a battery of tests and diagnostic protocols to determine the extent of damage done to his airway because of his persistent coughing and breathing difficulties that occurred from the choking incident. There were numerous other issues at the Barkshire since the change of ownership/management, which are extensive. The Barkshires new ownership/management and staff have damaged my dog emotionally and physically, within a 90 day period. I was recently contacted by two other clients that also expressed concerns and issues with their dogs since the change of ownership. My experience with this owner is that she is absent from the day-to-day operations. She did not appear to be concerned about the numerous incidents I have experienced that required her immediate attention. Based on this new ownership/management, I can no longer recommend the Barkshire.

2014-07-01We have been sending our 2 dogs to The Barkshire for about 2 years when we go out of town during the Holidays or week vacations. They spend a week there about 3 times a year or maybe a little more often for shorter stays. THEY LOVE IT! In my opinion that says it all. It is such a peace of mind for us while we are away out of the country. We can check them out through the Internet and often see them playing. They get super excited when they get there! All employees there know the dogs by name, they know their personalities and best matches with other dogs for play groups. Our older dog is 12 and blind and they still make it work, he is super happy while there. We have also used the grooming: it is very good specially after your dogs have been romping with other dogs for a week! A good grooming before going home works well. They have 2 dog suites so our dogs can sleep together too.

2019-05-02My dog has been coming here weekly for years! I absolutely love this place. They take amazing care of my dog, show me pictures, and tell me about how her day was every time we go. They treat my baby like she is part of their family.

2020-01-27Great group of people. Caring, responsive, organized and detailed oriented. We have been using The Barkshire, for daycare, for about a year now. Charlie seams to love it. (He is always eager to go in and see his friends.) My only two wishes - 1) the dogs played a little longer. (Charlie is high energy - and still has some energy to release when he gets home.) 2) the cameras were on longer and there wasnt a fee to access them on your mobile device. Other than that - we love it. I toured several other places and tried few before settling in at The Barkshire. Thanks Barkshire for all you do!

2016-01-28This place is awesome! Only place I would leave my dog! They know all the dogs by name and I have never met such an awesome caring staff everyone there rocks! Not to mention the Owner is super involved and loves the dogs just as much as the staff! The Barkshire is one of a kind (: Cruise loves you guys and Misses all of his friends two legged and four legged!
