If I could rate this place lower than 1 star I would. Our server was terrible. I had the chicken pasta with herb cream sauce and it literally tasted like like noodles in milk. Zero flavor and watery. If the entire experience wasnt awful I would have sent it back. When we asked if there was a manager we could speak to, we were told he was in the kitchen cooking because they were short staffed. I would never return.
Great wine by the bottle special, apps were fabulous, we had braised pork belly and the marinated mushrooms. Salmon on the couscous salad and rib eye for entrees were excellent, but the candied bacon maple cheesecake was over the top wonderful! We almost got another piece! Service from Travis was great. We will be back soon!
Waited over an hour for our food. Also, we ordered soup and salad with our meals only to find out they would not bring the soup and salad before the main course. Sent the soup back when came out with my meal. Food was good but not willing to wait over an hour. Will not come back.

Save yourself a disappointment and PLEASE go somewhere else.The worst service ever!Im typically not one to complain about service on a review page, but I am hoping to help prevent anyone else that might consider going to this sh!thole of a restaurant.First off, the hostesses were obviously rookies and so rude about my 3.5 year-old and discussed not giving him a glass-glass, but a styrofoam cup, which I completely understand if they were just going to do that, but discussing him breaking a glass in front of us all is just so rude!Next, the horrible service contd. with extremely long wait time for our actual dinner - even though we were one of ONLY three families there.The food came out with the main meal missing items that were described on the menu. We talked to the waitress about the issue and she went to the manager and came back with an answer, we understand how it could be perceived that those items are included in the meal, but theyre not - so would you like a discount?. We were floored because when we said yes, the manager came out and said the best she could do is 10% off that meal ONLY! WOW. Unbelievable.Then, we saw a different waiter come out and serve the table a complimentary order of bread. We never got any bread. So I mentioned this to the manager, as well, and she said well the bread was in the oven when you arrived. Like WHAT? So you couldnt bring it out with our meal and apologize it wasnt ready when we got there?This was by-far the worst experience Ive had eating at a restaurant in my 38 years of life. Save yourself a disappointment and PLEASE go somewhere else.
Very disappointed. I only wanted carry out. It took the bartender 5 minutes to acknowledge me, and only after I asked for a menu. It was another 5 minutes and I had to ask a server to take my order, as the bartender was too busy talking with another server about what another server had done. I am new to the area and like to try restaurants in my area. It was 4:05 when I walked in, I didnt leave until 4:30. 25 minutes for a take out salad...? Will not be returning. Bartender had short blonde hair... I never caught her name... 😐
Wow. The food portions are insane. I ordered a chicken and had 3x more fries than chicken. Also the server never checked on us and only a few other people were there. If she did pass by us and we asked a question she seemed annoyed even if wanted a water. The food was marginal and far too expensive for the low quality.
Scheduled a party of 13 ahead of time, yet I guess they were terribly understaffed. Everyone sat with empty glassed for most of the meal looking for our server who was mia. A salad was missing for one guest and she sat there while everyone else ate. When the entree finally arrived, one plate again was missing for another guest and EVERY SINGLE PLATE of food was icy cold, from the meat to the potatoes. At one point I heard someone say that Dairy Queen serves better food. Unless you like to dine thirsty and wait eons for a chilly prime rib while watching everyone else eat, choose another restaurant.
Food was great, our waitress was a little slow but that is unusual. Tried the whitefish basket and it was great. Prices are fair for the quality of food. Nice to dine in or sit on the deck overlooking the river
Just spent a hundred dollars on the worst meal ever. My family and I came to the boathouse last year and the food was amazing. We came back today for a birthday dinner and couldnt be more dissatisfied. From the waitress who left our menus on the table the entire dinner, no rolls, the slippers she was wearing, to the food that my kids wouldnt even eat. I will never be coming back here.
We arrived at 3:15 PM and chose this place because they were recommended as pet friendly. We were told that the patio was not open because it was going to rain. I looked at the radar and no rain was predicted until 7:00 PM. Very bad customer service for a restaurant that had only one car in the parking lot. We ate outside at another establishment with our pet and no rain.
Bad wait staff, no salt and pepper, other table had to borrow ours. Another party of 4 left because they were never approached. dont ask for coffee, they wont be able to find the pot. Burgers are good, but have no condiments. Ask for them ahead of timeWould have not left a tip if I was the one paying.
Waitress never returned after our appetizer was brought out except to ask us how our food was that we had yet to order for 20 mins we never ordered.. I had to refill our drinks myself by taking them inside .. I asked for water about 4 times which is supposed to be brought out with the bread we never were given water or any refills at all. We ordered a bacon cheeseburger.... it had no bacon
Food was very good. Waiter was nice, and when he got caught up with a big table occasionaly he asked a co-worker to come check on us. View of the river was great!
The restaurant was booked for a large group. The food was great but the service from the wait staff was not up to par for a nice dining experience. Cleanliness of the restaurant, dishes etc. needs improvement.
My husbands perch was excellent! I ordered the cod, which was ok, but spend the xtra and get perch. Also enjoyed reading about it’s history of the building. Decor could use a major face lift to accommodate more seating.
A wonderful spot on the Cheboygan River to enjoy a meal and watch the boat traffic, park activities, and baseball games. The Staff is friendly & efficient. The food is delicious and of huge portions. Dining outside or in, upstairs or in the new Rum Runner Lounge. Our favorite place to go.
Drove the boat into town and tied up right out front. Had a nice meal, but, they seemed to be out of a few items. It was a Monday and they must have had a busy weekend. Still had a great time.
Ive been a resident of Cheboygan since 2005. This restaurant was delightfull years back. The reception at the door was ...none. My waitress dumped 3 beers on my grandson. This restaurant is a disaster. I will think twice about dinning here again.
The chicken marsala was pretty good. Im a pretty picky individual and thought it was very flavorful would definitely get it again. It also came with a loaded potato that I had to bring home because I was so full
Ordered the lobster bisque only to find out they use imitation crab and lobster. The chicken wings are Tyson brand from Walmart. Dont come here for a top notch meal, you wont get it. Id reccomend driving 2 hours to the Boathouse in Traverse City instead of here.
Food was excellent, but service and attention was the worst. Bad day for the staff or something, it happens. But I never received dressing for the salad? We never got our meal drinks? Bad.
Food was ok. Bloody Mary was terribly spicy for our taste. Couldnt drink it. Server was very friendly, but needs to be trained better.
Wonderful! We were there for lunch, craving a perch sandwich, there wasnt one on the menu, so they created one for us, excellent fresh sandwich and they didnt overcharge us for it not being on the menu! Highly recommend!
Food was good. The Cod was a bit skimpy, always have to ask for the extra rolls, only get 1 per person at a time. Service was good.
Just left there had a wonderful lunch with my sister and husband on the river on the patio the barbecue ribs were good the seafood Cobb salad was good and the prime rib sandwich was good we will definitely be back
Horrible, just dont eat here. Two hours to get our almost warm lunch and we were one of two tables in the restaurant at 1pm on a Tuesday. Just stay away.

Is ok decent food but minimum wine selection. But the deck area full of wasps and spiders.....not good dinner companions
Daughter and I both had the Sirloin Steak an it was perfectly done and delicious. Definitely order it again.
Service wasnt very good to say the least :( it wasnt busy at all yet we had to wait for our drinks, which is all we ordered and then had to find our server for the check. Then had to finally go in to pay as he never made it back out to the table. Bummer!
They have delicious Blood Orange ale here. Other than that it is overpriced food for old people that like boats.
Prime rib dinner was very good and not expensive but you need to ssk for it since it was not listed on the menu when we went there

2017-05-13The steak was rather good. (new try for me), the Crab cakes had far to many peppers in them for our like. They tasted more like peppers then crab cakes we a used too. Service staff was very good.

2018-07-13The shrimp trio appetizer was good. We ordered fries and received chips that would have been good but were overpowered by too much salt. Ordered an island burger medium rare but was cooked well done. It was supposed to come with pineapple but they didn’t have any. They put more ham on instead. Overpriced! Won’t be back. It’s too bad! It overlooks the Indian River with nice seating outside or inside.

2018-07-28Went there for a wedding dinner and the party consisted of 30 people. The scenery on the deck was gorgeous but I was not impressed with the food. After the dinner my sister and I were told that the cook had a heat stroke and had to be taken to the hospital. Granted,it was a large party but shouldnt kitchens have a cooling system? Im rating it 3 stars for the ambiance. Would have been 5 if the food would have been better. It was bland af. Sorry.

2017-05-17Visited there last night to check out the new menu, new staff and new management; very impressive!! Staff were pleasant and efficient; new manager Zach is welcoming, personable, and extremely knowledgeable. They are set up for a great season with nice seafood, fresh fish, steak, chicken, pork and vegetarian menu choices. They have beautiful riverside seating indoors and out. Check this place out! Im going there again soon!

2015-05-25My wife and I stopped in on our 7th anniversary, the service was great, the atmosphere was awesome, the food was cooked perfectly.My wife had the coconut shrimp, and I had the Rib Eye. Nice size portions very reasonable prices, and the employees were very friendly and answered all questions about the menu.We sat outside along the river, very comfortable with a scenery.I am not one to right a review, but I really felt the Boat House restaurant deserved it.

2017-08-27The portion size for the shareable mushrooms was huge, but the other two appetizers, crab cakes and pork belly, were very small and overpriced for the amount. All were tasty. My lobster linguini was nothing out of the ordinary and was kind of cold by the time I was served. The table behind us was declined every item they tried to order because the restaurant was out of stock. The server finally confessed to them that they are going out of business in 9 days and they havent been ordering certain food/supplies. No wonder they only had 3 beers on tap.

2018-09-04I had a lovely meal here on my visit I had the Alaskan salmon which was decent it was slightly over cooked. The bourbon and lemonade was delicious. But our service was a little lacking as our waitress forgot our side salads and had some issues with getting a second cocktail but lovely view and all and all it was great.

2016-06-08On June 5,2016 my family and I made reservations for 14 people. The food was terrible. My daughters boyfriend and I had pan fried perch, the fish was soggy. My husband and grandson had Blackend Red Snapper. Burned. Four members of our family ordered Steak, the waitress came back from the kitchen to say they only had two left. The portion looked like it had been cut in half. They were out of steak sauce. One family member asked for hot sauce, it was sent out in a ice cream bowl. Side dishes werent placed with correct orders. Then to add to our insult, when we leave the cook is sitting at the bar looking drunk. There wasnt a general to our knowledge to ask how our meal was. We spent more than $350. I feel we were robbed. Ill obviously never go back. The portion sizes dont match price and the cook looks like a drunk. Wish wed read reviews. I will in future.

2018-08-11Had reservation but had to wait for hostess to set up our table. Umm, why? Most of the restaurant was empty. Most of the food was excellent but my husbands pesto chicken sandwich came without pesto. My sons pasta with creamy sauce did not come with creamy sauce. Waiter was very friendly and seemed to have it together. Altogether, not a wonderful experience.
