When I suddenly had a very loud, very ugly noise coming from the front end of my car, I got a bit worried. I called Brighton Garage - I had used them for some transmission issues with my truck years ago- and they got me right in. The issue was diagnosed within hours and my car was ready for pickup early the next afternoon for a reasonable price! Great job and friendly service!!
Chris and his crew were awesome! My entire experience at A & H auto repair was great from start to finish. They were able to fit me in on really short notice. The inspection they provided was very through and full of good information. Chris provided honest and trustworthy advice/feedback on a used car I was considering purchasing. Overall I strongly recommend A & H for any/all auto repairs/services. Thanks again!!
I was a full time mechanic for 13 yrs. I now work in a different industry. I have taken my vehicles here because of my lack of time to do my own work. They are very trusting and Christopher the service advisor is a1 hands down. Very professional and knowledgeable. I dont trust anybody to touch my car. If I had to this will always my first and only stop. Love you guys your awesome . Mike g
Zack and the team at The Brighton Garage and Transmission were GREAT!!! They diagnosed the issuesand offered a very fair price. They were very timely on getting us in, diagnosing the problem and fixing it. We will bring our business to BGT going forward. Thank you Zack and your team !!!
A&H is always try’s to up sell repairs you don’t need. For example they recommended replacing break’s that were done 10k miles ago, a battery that is 6 months old, tires that have 10 k miles on them. This is amended after the shops response below.1) The shop only tried to reach out to me once, not several times.2) Not only did you try to sell me a battery and tires I dont need. I eventually took the car to another shop and found it does not need a heater core either, there was a sunroof leek. This is a very dishonest business. I suspected as much on previous repairs but it is hard to tell after the fact. This time I took my care elsewhere and found out how much stuff they were selling me that I dont need. Stay Away from this place!!!Read through the other reviews, I am not the only one that has had this issue with the Brighton Garage.
Been chasing a weird brake pulsation on my Lexus for nearly 50k miles now. Thrown almost any quality and brand part you can find at risk car, the Brighton Garage found my slide pins were not moving as they should, corrected the issue that same day and I have not had any problems since. So happy I’m finally done throwing money away on new rotors every 15k miles now… 10/10 service and highly recommend!
These guys are awesome! They stayed late to answer every question about the inspection they did on my car. Explained everything extremely well and even wrote the parts I would need down with serial numbers so I could look them up myself. I hadnt even scheduled the repair with them yet so they did that knowing I could still go elsewhere at that point. They were very transparent like that and up front about everything. The car rides like new now and Im very happy with my experience with them! Thanks!!!
My experience wasnt the best. I brought in a 2011 Cadillac SRX that was throwing a CEL and was sluggish. I knew the catalytic converters were bad as this is what my code reader as telling me.Well, I was a little taken aback when the estimate of over $6,000 came back to me. The $6,000 bill was comprised of replacing 3 catalytic converters and replacing the timing chains. The estimate included pictures of a scan tool displaying P0019 code along with the expected P0420 and P0430 that indicate a bad catalytic converter. Researching the P0019 code, this is specific to the crank position sensor and camshaft position sensor are out of alignment - hence the timing chains needing replacementNeedless to say, I was surprised to have this issue and decided to take my vehicle elsewhere for a second opinion. Before I did that, I read the codes again after bringing the car back home and as before the only codes that were showing up were related to the converters - nothing related to timing chains. I then took the vehicle to another shop in town to have them look at it. They read the codes and the ONLY codes were related to the converters - the timing chain codes were not appearing.I had the second shop fix my car. They replaced 2 of the 3 catalytic converters (A and H wanted to replace all 3 for some reason). This bill was less than $2,000 and I have driven the car extensively since then - (approximately 5,000 miles) without any check engine lights. Again, the estimate the A and H gave me was about $6100. My car was effectively mechanically totaled as the repair bill exceeded the value of the car.I reached out to A and H to try and get the copy of the original picture that was taken of the scan tool to confirm it was taken when and where is was supposed to based on the metadata in the file. Unfortunately, they were not able to provide me with that picture. If they had proven the picture was taken when and where it was supposed to have been, I would have felt confident it was, in fact, an issue that came up on my vehicle. Without this, I am wondering if the picture was even of my cars info. When I spoke to them about the timing chain codes and the fact that they were the only ones to have ever seen this code on my vehicle, I was asked if I had changed the oil recently as this can make those codes go away. (Oil was fresh when I took it in - I change the oil religiously when the oil life monitor reaches 50%).And between the time I took it from A and H to another shop to fix the catalytic converters, one of my front brake calipers seized. I replaced this myself and this improved the driveablity of the vehicle significantly. I have to think this caliper was malfunctioning when I took it to A and H originally and was contributing significantly to the lack of performance I brought it in for. Unfortunately, this was not noted on the list of repairs needed, but I think a professional shop should have noticed this was occurring.Update after owner responded - I did NOT get the original picture I was looking for, just a screen shot from your internal system - no metadata. I am not saying you guys were taking advantage of the situation and recommending unnecessary service, but 5,000 trouble free miles since I DIDNT have the service performed leads me to believe it wasnt necessary. Picking up the car after not having it fixed, they told my wife that a breakdown was likely if left as is. Not cool.Another Update: 4-5 months later, still no sign of the timing chains needing to be replaced as the CEL has not reappeared since the other shop replaced the catalytic converter. I question Brighton Garages diagnosis for this expensive repair they were recommending.
HI… I DON’T OFTEN LEAVE REVIEWS FOR BUSINESSES USED BUT THIS IS AN EXCEPTION !I CHOSE BRIGHTON GARAGE WHEN I HAD ANENGINE LIGHT COME ON IN MY CAR. I HADHEARD THAT THEY WERE AN EXCEPTIONALCHOICE FOR REPAIRS, ETC. I CALLED THEMFOR HELP AND THEY SPRUNG INTO ACTIONIMMEDIATELY. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO THEMAND THEY WENT TO WORK RIGHT AWAY. IT WASTHE WEEKEND SO I DID NOT THINK THAT I WOULDHEAR FROM THEM UNTIL MONDAY. I WAS WRONG.I RECEIVED A CALL LETTING ME KNOW THATTHEY WOULD GET TO MY CAR ON MONDAY. THEYCONTACTED ME WITH NEWS OF MY CAR. I ONLYOWN THE ONE CAR, THEY CAME AND GOT ME,FOLLOWED ME TO MY PARENTS HOME TO RETURNTHEIR CAR AND TOOK ME UP TO THE SHOP TORETURN MY CAR TO ME. THEY WERE SO EASY TODEAL WITH, THEY WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND TOGIVE ME THE HELP I NEEDED. THEY ARE THE BESTIN THE BUSINESS AND I WILL MOST CERTAINLYNOT HESITATE TO CALL UPON THEM AGAIN IF THENEED ARISES. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND CALLTHE BEST GARAGE IN LIVINGSTON COUNTY.YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. THEIR PRICES ARE THEBEST AROUND AND THE PEOPLE ARE FRIENDLYAND CARING.Karen Spitler
They may temporarily fix a lot of problems but you’ll always have to head back over for a warranty part or another inspection. Their inspections are useless, they can’t actually find the problems usually when it has to do with hose lines or internals. So they charge you anyway and then start digging to find the “issue” later on. Be prepared to pay a lot in labor costs. I suppose they aren’t doing too bad for a business considering they have 5 high end vehicles always parked outside. I think I even saw the front desk kid with a newish vette. To end this I’d like to say I’m not going back for any more service considering my breaks and power steering has to be redone twice now right after they’ve just been serviced.
Never take a vehicle here again. They wpuldnt warranty a trans with less than 2000 miles because I installed the trans myself. Anyother big name distributors offer a 70000 4yr warranty. A and H gave zero warranty took my 2200 dollars. Now I had to go to another reputable place to see what A and H has done wrong. When i find out ill sue for my 2200$ A and H dpesnt stand by their standards. Dont go there
Had to send my truck in for transmission work. They identified some other problems I didnt know about and definitely needed to be fixed. There estimate was detailed and incredibly clear and they were a better value than some others. Have used them in the past and will again in the future. Would highly recommend.
I took my car to Spartan to be aligned. They told me I had to fix my replace my outer and inner tierods. I took to my mechanic to get those replaced. Spartan happened to be booked up that day so I took to a & h to do the alignment. A & H called and told me I had 2400 worth of repairs that had to be done before they aligned. I pretty much told them to screw off then took my car to Belle Tire where they did the alignment and told me there was no repairs needed. DO NOT trust a & h auto. Get a second opinion!!!
Walked in without an appointment and told them what I’d been dealing with from champion Chrysler across the street and the work that was/wasn’t done by them. They got me in same day, corrected the issue and told me that the transmission fluid that was in my car either hadn’t been changed or not done recently. I had had it in the dealership twice within a month and a half immediately prior to going to a&h.
I really liked these guys they send you a very detailed report of what they do to your car. I’ve never seen that. Along with a 3 year warranty on the parts they guaranteed on my car. They really focus on what you tell them when you take your car in. I dealt with Zac and I had nothing but good things to say. I would take my car there any day. Thank you so much guys... Heather W.
Honest and thorough shop, would definitely recommend taking a vehicle here for any issue big or small. We recently brought one of our cars in to get a brake issue looked at. They ran a detailed inspection on the car and gave us a very thorough and transparent review of the findings. We got quite a few things repaired in addition to the original issue. A couple weeks later we had a similar brake issue come up, this time on the other side. They fixed the problem free of charge and told us they appreciate our business.
Im very happy. I appreciate the fact that you guys treated me in a professional manner and didnt laugh at me when I brought you 2 bare axle housings and a couple boxes of parts and asked you to build my Jeep project axles. Excellent work, fair price and extremely fast turnaround. I will have more stuff in the future and I will come back for sure! Thank you.
Absolutely wonderful shop. They are very efficient and prices are great. My car just got back from some work being done and is in the best shape it has ever been in! I also absolutely loved the invoice I recieved with a breakdown of the inspection and prices, including specific codes that registered and the technicians comments.Thank you guys so much!
Dropped some money into my car but worth every penny when you know it will be serviced with care and quality. Prompt, detailed, information about your car and its status is emailed and followed up on with a call from the technician. They gave my son a backpack when he started 1st grade with some other school supplies. And everyone at the shop just goes the extra mile to address your car concerns. Valued member of the community. Thanks for the help.
A&H transmission is amazing! They had a look at my trans and checked out my vehicle to diagnose the issue then I got a call telling me what was wrong, with a correct quote and no hidden costs. Got it all fixed up at a great rate and Im feeling safe again! Thank you so much A&H! Your the best, I wont go anywhere else!
I have had A&H servive my vehicles for over 15 years and have never been disappointed. I keep waiting for them to tell me its time to get a new car but so far they have kept it running like new. They will let me know when I am facing costs that indicate its time to renew, just like they did with our other car. Our new car goes in for general maintenance, or when something doesnt seem just right. Weve always been treated fairly and with respect. Great people to deal with!!!.I was very surprised to read the poor review on this site. Im not sure this person was at the same repair shop Ive been going to for many years.
Brought my car in for a automatic transmission diagnosis which consisted of a tech driving my car and scanning for trouble codes. (which can be done at autozone across the street)For $70, their diagnosis was: Yep, something is wrong with it, full rebuild needed Would expect more from a shop that claims to know transmissions.
Recommend my mother get her wipers fixed here. I guess that was a mistake. The plastic retainer often breaks and can be replaced with a $5 part. These folks replaced the entire assembly ($90 part OEM, can find for less if you want). They charged her ~$200 for the part (avg markup is 25-50%) and two hours labor for a total of just over $400.Its an hour job or less to replace the linkage and its even quicker if you just replace the failed plastic part instead of the entire thing.Called them to complain and they tried to justify it saying they cant warranty the plastic piece and they sleep good at night because they do a good job.Thats crazy. I wouldnt sleep well if I was ripping someone off, being dishonest and replacing more than whats needed because you cant make extra money off a 100% markup on a $5 part and charging double the increased labor cost that unnecessary part took to install?EDIT to address their reply: Im not sure why they are lying here to save face. I have the part they removed and its clear the plastic is broken and can be replaced. They admitted this over the phone.
I was driving through, had an issue with my car and they were willing to get me checked out, diagnosed, and on my way quickly. The mechanic educated me on what to do, how to permenantly fix them problem when I finished my trip. If I lived in Brighton, they would be my mechanic. Thank you for everything!
I brought my Kia in for a second opinion to A&H Auto, and the employees were great to work with. Ben at A&H had an answer for me with what was wrong in less then 24 hrs after dropping off. They also supplied me with a loaner while my SUV was worked on. The repairs were done in a very timely manner and the office was professional, and honest from start to finish. Great shop and will be a returning customer.
Saw all the reviews. Thought this would be great place to get some issues fixed on my car. Charged $35 to inspect problems...ok....called me back nothing wrong with one issue which seemed odd that I had this ongoing problem for few months and other issue needed to charge me more to look for problem. Then I get there at end of day, turn on the car and the issue they said wasnt there was still happening. So I told them and they say, oh yeah that will be $300 to fix but they were closing so I would have to leave it or come back. So paid to have inspected with no fix or resolution. Sure they were nice and incompetent with my concerns. Wont waste my time at this shop again. Sorry, I would think they could have said sorry our mistake this is how we can make it right. Not a good experience.
Probably the most enjoyable (if there is such a thing) car repair experience that I have ever had. Lloyd, Brett and Ray made everything stress free, seamless and quick. I was treated like an old friend even though I had never been there before. This will be my repair facility of choice and it should be yours too. Great people and, oh, the vehicle runs like new. Thanks guys!
Great service, my company work van had a transmission problem and of course we had a heavy workload so it is imperative to have my van working . I called Llyod at A &H transmission and auto repair and Brett (the service manager)said bring it in and they made the repair asap and I was back to taking care of my customers. Thanks for the prompt service.
Went in for an alignment after getting larger tires put on my jeep. the manager at the shop that did my tires had discount cards for alignments here. i set up an appointment and got in the next day at 345 and my vehicle was taken into their bay within 10 minutes. no other customers were inside or came in for about an hour after i arrived, just me and Cory behind the desk, who was very polite and i talked with him and another employee for awhile. i will admit their staff was very polite. while sitting in the lobby another mechanic walked in to ask Cory if there was anything to work on since he said he had nothing to do, including clean the shop which ill add was also very clean for a mechanic shop. i say this because i want to make clear it was very slow that day. after the better part of 2 hours comes, the guy i assume was the owner, i forget his name, older guy with glasses, calls me into the front office to tell me they didnt do the alignment because my adjustment sleeve was broke and the job couldnt be completed property. after asking to see the part in question i was walked back and saw the cracked sleeve. they said they found it that way after removing the clamp that was over top of the sleeve. now im not able to prove they may have accidentally broken it when trying to tighten or even loosen it, or if it was already broke, but i do know that the owner told me it was already like that before they had it. i found it a little hard to believe that after 1.5 hours with my vehicle back in the shop and on a slow day that it took them that long to find a broken sleeve on top of having performed no work on it as per the owners words. i will say that my vehicle is strictly used on paved roads and highways, no offroad use and that the steering setup was replaced almost 2 years ago shortly after i bought the vehicle. i dont know how long those sleeves are designed to last but ill say it wasnt an aftermarket heavy duty setup, just a stock replacement. moving on, i was told i would now be looking at slightly more than double the cost of an alignment to fix the issue, just over $130.00, being told i wouldnt be charged for labor only the part needed. i was given a loaner for the night and told it would be ready the next day. i called around to a few jeep suppliers asking about the sleeve and breaking chance on them and got mixed reviews, some were surprised that it was broke so quickly while another had seen the issue before. no real supporting evidence there. i picked the jeep up the next day as promised and went on my way a bit upset i had to pay so much for an alignment. i got an email about a week later from AAA to rate my experience. i will say i was slightly harsher on that review and probably assumed things i stated as fact but beside the point. the same owner i delt with that day called me up to basically tell me in the nicest way he could to get bent and not return, after seeing my review. i told him i felt the entire ordeal was slightly suspicious with the work done, i didnt bother to mention to him my jeep still pulls to the right just as it did before i went in after a week of driving. the first few days were noticeably better but it quickly got back to pulling right. overall their staff was friendly minus the owner over the phone, the place was clean and the majority of customer reviews are very good, this is just my one and only experience with this place. i will stick with my usual mechanic that quoted an alignment for cheaper than this place did with a discount. maybe alignments just arent their thing as ive seen other negative reviews regarding customer alignment jobs, but its my word against theirs and theres really no chance of bothering to argue or fight them over this. best to bite the bullet and move on. i would recommend calling a few other shops around your area and getting estimates before making a decision.
They did great work replacing my transmission and communicated with me through the whole process, despite the warranty company taking a while they were able to get the work done quickly and guided me through the process, definitely using them again and would recommend them to anyone looking for mechanical work done to their vehicle!
Great shop and great employees! Me and my family have been coming here for a while and every time it’s a pleasant experience! Loyd is the man! He helped me with a problem I had with my rear crossmember today and was more than happy to help! The shop is super clean too so no dirty cars leaving the bay. Way better prices and service than a stealership! Definitely recommend to everyone that wants an honest local shop!
We were SO impressed with A&H Transmission! We were told by the dealer we needed to replace our catalytic converter and took it to A&H to have it done. Brett called me right away saying he did not believe it needed to be done and that he couldnt justify spending my money. He also said if it was his car or his wifes car this is what he would want someone else to do. A real class act and we plan to bring our vehicles back when they do need repair!
This place is amazing i did not even look this place up before i went in i called aaa cause i broke down on the side of the road and they took me there and was amazed with not only the service but the services they offer i was in a rush from hell on my way to my first day of work and they gave me a loaner car until my car was finished all i can say is they are freaking awesome they are friendly the service was great and my car drives better than it has in awhile knock on wood i dont need to but if i do ill go back to them for service for future issues
The fellas at this business are very honest and extremely fair. I had a ticking and grinding noise in my 2004 F-150, Brett the operations manager told me what had to be done trying to do the job as inexpensive as possible. Unfortunately the truck had to go back for more work with a minimum charge and one more time with a noise. Cory the mechanic honestly felt bad, Lloyd and Brett were apologetic and completed the work with my 100 percent satisfaction. This local business is standard for all businesses in Brighton. I would definitely use these guys in the future.
I made an appointment to have an alignment done at 9:00 am. When we get there they told us it would be done that afternoon instead. We waited all day and we get back to pick it up they told us they refused to do the alignment because it needed: new ball joints, new tie rod ends, and possible a wheel bearing. They charged me $35 bucks for the diagnosis that I did not ask for.We took the car to another mechanic that I trust and he said there was no play in any of the parts they said the car need. These guys are RIP OFF!!! AND I STILL NEED AN ALIGNMENT!!RIP OFF CITY !!
I just took my car there on a recommendation. BIG MISTAKE!!!I was talked to like I had no idea what parts of a car were. The technicians could not find any readings on my car and began replacing fuses that I did not ask. When I called to ask Jeff which ones were put in, so they may be removed, he laughed at me and said I could bring it back. Jeff said his technicians would not remember which ones they replaced.I told Jeff they completely went against everything he told me over the phone (that they do not fix anything without permission). Jeff said Take it back to your normal shop where you get it fix. Oh yeah - they dont know anything, that is why you can to us.No Jeff, the reason I came to you was that my co-worker is a friend of the owner and I was guaranteed that my car and myself would be treated with respect, which did not happen. My car smells like old food and drives worse now that when I brought it in. Thank you for telling me your guys tromped on the gas to force it to drive fast. When I brought your horrible pee-smelling, unsafe (broken windshield, broken side mirror & wobbly steering) loaner vehicle to your shop last night some woman came screeching into the parking lot grabbed the keys and said Is the car alright, and sped off with it into the back parking lot to lock it away. All around POOR and RUDE customer service. What I was told would be no charge per the owner turned in to an $80 charge, with no results. Just a waste of my time, loss of my vehicle and 100% stress.I am very sorry that I did not take it to my regular small-town shop, which has serviced the vehicle for 10+ years. I tried to help a friend and get a lower cost, but obviously the saying is true you get what you pay for!!I am still paying............
There service was fantastic, and my truck was repaired quicker then estimated which was an even bigger plus! The facility was very clean for an auto repair shop and everyone was friendly and answered all of my questions to the fullest. I would highly recommend taking your vehicle here for any repairs you need.
Our family took in multiple vehicles to this facility for repair, one vehicle being for a relative that has fallen on hard times (medical issues, sickness etc.) once the vehicle was done the staff informed us that the cost of the repairs would be covered by A&H because they were touched by our family. They informed us that a few times a year they try to help families in need. We honestly couldnt believe their generosity. Great business & great people! From the bottom of our hearts thank you! We will continue to recommend you to everyone we know!- The McClellan/Martinez Family
We took our Honda Odyssey in because of a noise in the front suspension area and the Honda dealer could not solve the problem. A&H have the most advanced alignment system in the area and are well versed in steering problems. The mechanic solved the problem. Because they were very busy, it took an extra day so they gave my wife a loaner car which is very convenient.
Went in to get my rear differential fixed as it was making noise. Fixed it. Came back a month later with same sound. Three visits couldnt fix. Went across town and was fixed in an hour. $350 wasted here. How can you fix something once but not again? Or was it not fixed correctly the first time?It was under my wifes name.
Friendly, professional, and honest. These guys arent trying to nickle and dime you for every little thing, and they wont add additional repairs without consulting you first. These guys have been doing this for a while, and theyre the only guys I trust to fix my car properly. 10/10

2022-03-15They did fix my brakes and replaced my valve cover. However, as soon as I got in my car, I immediately smelt gas. At first, I thought they had just gotten gas on their hands and left some residue. After I drove it home, I opened the hood and found gas everywhere. Had to get my car towed back (which I had to pay for) and couldn’t use my car for another day. They told me it was not their fault but they did not make me pay for the service the second time the car was there. They tightened a clamp which was the reason for the gas leaking everywhere and they did clean up the gas on the surface of the engine. Not confident I can bring my car here without having to worry about other problems coming up. I will definitely take my car somewhere else next time.

2022-05-12The Brighton Garage does a fantastic job, every time! The guys are nice and professional. This shop did a thorough inspection, sent me pictures of their concerns of my vehicle, and the mechanic walked me through the issues very clearly! 2022-04-05After having an auto parts manufacturer send me rotors and pads that didnt fit my car, the guys at the Brighton Garage were extremely helpful in diagnosing what went wrong and repairing the damage. They were patient, communicative, honest and did awesome work. I honestly cannot recommend them enough! It can be hard to find good help, so save yourself the trouble and bring your car in to these guys!

2022-06-14Extremely thoughtful and accommodating. Zack and the team even checked out items (all safety related) I had not asked about and let me know about concerns without any hard sell. All work was done on time and reasonably priced. Highly recommended!

2022-08-09Ive used this place for my rusted truck multiple times.Over the past few years they have replaced my brakes, rotors, calipers, muffler, various belts, shocks, struts, oil changes and helped me out when I tried to replace the TCM myself. The pricing matches google & private estimates. The service and repair process is easy to manage and understand. After several nightmares at the local dealer, I tried this place out and havent ever been disappointed. I wont be going back to the dealer.

2022-04-05Charges you extra for using a credit card, wont take a personal check, get an automated text with a lot of overpriced, unnecessary work quoted (car was recently serviced and oil was fresh but they quoted for an oil change, over $100 for an annual inpsection quoted over $900 to replace a section of the exhaust where another local shop quoted me $250) , on top of what you brought it in for. Not the same as the old A&H service. Very disappointed, wont be going back or recommending them.

2022-08-06Popped in for a quick service for my moon roof that was leaking. Staff is super friendly and helpful. These guys are great, I would definitely bring my car here again.
