This place is an absolute gem!! The host (Harvey) is such a great guy! He has a wonderful dog (Merlin). The room was beautiful and inviting! A nice fireplace and a warm cozy big bed. Harvey made us a wonderful breakfast. We will definitely be back! Thank You Harvey, you’re the best! Ben & Emily.
We just returned from a four night stay at the Inn and we wished we could have stayed longer. The Inn is in a great location in the quaint town of Alden with nice boutique stores and Torch Lake within walking distance. The Inn was beautiful and spotlessly clean with large, beautifully decorated rooms. The Inn was very quiet and even though it was full when we were there, we never once heard our neighbors next door. We cannot say enough about Harvey’s hospitality, and we enjoyed our visits from Merlin too! Harvey went above and beyond to make sure that he served breakfast food that everyone would like – including one very picky eater in my group, and we appreciated his efforts. His breakfasts were wonderful! He provided us with chairs and beach towels, and directions to the entrance to the sand bar on the lake, and was helpful providing us with information to other area attractions. We highly recommend the Inn at Torch Lake and will most certainly stay here when we return for another visit.
Found this Gem while on an impromptu Solo get away. I have never felt so safe, welcomed and comfortable traveling alone. This Inn is beautiful with Modern touches. Harvey and Merlin were wonderful and the Breakfasts are amazing. Big rooms, quiet, most comfortable beds. I have told everyone about this B and B. I am looking forward to going back with family and friends! Highly recommended! Walking distance to the docks, beach, bar, dinning, cute little shops. Everything you need in the little corner or paradise.
We had a wonderful experience at the Inn at Torch Lake! My husband and I stayed here for one night during the winter and thoroughly enjoyed our get away. The Inn is absolutely beautiful and Harvey has gone above and beyond with making sure his guests have everything they might want or need. Harvey was a very gracious host who gave us plenty of space and privacy but was always nearby if we needed anything. He can give great advice for the area if desired. He pointed us to a beautiful nature center nearby where we were able to hike some beautiful snow covered trails. On our way out Harvey gave us a gift for or soon to arrive baby girl. What a sweet gesture. Cant recommend enough.
There arent enough stars. I had a wonderful time here. Harvey and his dog, Merlin, are so welcoming and accommodating. They made my stay perfect. The room was clean and spacious and after the long drive up, he greeted me with a nice glass of wine. Breakfast is out of this world delicious. One morning he made stuffed french toast with cherries and cream cheese. Delicious! Fresh fruit, muffins, eggs, etc. It is impossible to leave breakfast still hungry. I highly recommend this Inn. It is a short walk to Torch Lake where there are benches to sit and enjoy the view or read a book as I did. There are a few novelty shops and one at the Inn. There is a wine tasting room and a couple of restaurants within walking distance. A great getaway for couples, friends, family or as I did, solo. I felt very comfortable and safe. Dont pass this one up.
Harvey has created a fantastic inn, perfect for getaways & family time. We have enjoyed staying there multiple times, and Harvey is very accommodating with any requests you may have. What a joy! The Torch Lake room is beautiful! The other rooms are equally well done, they have a slightly more masculine feel (darker furnishings). Torch lake is gorgeous & the little town of Alden is quaint & nice. It’s a quick trip to Short’s Brewing (delicious beers & pizza!), or many other fun spots. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. We go back often!
My husband and I have made this our annual anniversary location. Harvey is wonderful and the breakfasts are AMAZING! Harvey makes you feel like you are at home. The rooms are beautifully decorated and welcoming. We have been to 5 star hotels and The Inn At Torch Lake beats them all hands down! Thank you Harvey! See you next year!
For the past four years we along with three other couples have stayed at The Inn at Torch Lake during our annual golf outing. Each year our stay gets better and better. Harvey keeps adding new decorations and updating the rooms so they are consistently fresh and new. The breakfasts are different with each new stay and seem more fabulous than the time before (if that were possible). What I like most is it can be a very private quiet experience in your room, or it can be a fun interactive experience with other guests in the common area where coffee, tea and snacks are always available to assist in great conversations. Harvey is there to recommend great restaurants and places to visit, along with the great golf courses. I guarantee you will not find a nicer bread and breakfast. Each and every experience has been fantastic!! Thank you Harvey!!!
We just stayed at The Inn at Torch Lake for our honeymoon and it was absolutely amazing! It was our first time staying at a bed and breakfast, we loved this set up. We stayed in the Torch Lake room and would recommend it to everyone. It is a huge room and has everything you need for a great stay. It has a beautiful view of downtown Alden and the location is perfect for going to Torch Lake, only 5 minutes away. Harvey made a delicious breakfast every morning that we enjoyed in our room. He surprised my wife one morning with eggs benedict, her favorite! Harvey, you are one hell of a cook! Harvey also made some great recommendations for restaurants in the area and things to do. My wife and I are looking forward to coming back next year and are hoping to make this our anniversary spot! Thanks for everything Harvey!-Mike and Hillary
Just had a girls weekend and stayed at the Inn with Harvey (our host). This place was absolutely perfect for us. We stayed in the larger apartment and had the most delicious breakfast each morning. Very close to little shops, wine tasting next door and walking distance to water. Although, the weather wasnt perfect we sure had a great time and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in the Torch Lake/Traverse City area.
Best part of our vacation! We came with our daughter, who turned 12 at the Inn. We had the only room with two beds which was gorgeous and super spacious! A huge closet, jet tub and shower and big t.v, along with a mini fridge, and sink kitchenette. Breakfasts were awesome, best meals on vacation. Even our daughter who doesnt normally eat eggs loved the quiche, her favorite was the cinnamon roll! Fresh fruit each day along with the meal. The stuffed french toast was so yummy Im craving it already! The breakfast was served in a cute little nook, not your normal bed in breakfast....it was amazing! You could choose to have it in your room as well, we just loved being in the nice sunny room at the quaint little tables.Best part was Harveys hospitality, he was always making sure we had everything we needed. And his dog was super sweet just a nice added touch. He even left a little present for our daughter, it made her feel so special. It was like he was a mind reader, he knew great places to recommend, left a little treat on the nightstand, and even offered a glass of wine when we first got in after a long drive.Totally gives bed and breakfast a great name, and has a great location near Torch Lake. I would recommend highly!
Spent a delightful night last month at the Inn. Spacious, gracious and clean. Harvey the Innkeeper also makes a mean breakfast for the guests. Harvey is helpful but not intrusive. My biggest surprise was Alden. It is Norman Rockwellesque and feels much bigger than it is. Very nice stores and shopkeepers. From shopping to wine tasting, a festive overnight for anyone wanting to experience Torch Lake.
We planned our stay at the Inn at Torch lake with the recommendation of a friend, and we just cant believe how amazing this B&B is.The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. Our room was one of the lower-priced rooms (read less expensive, not cheap) at the Inn, but it was still perfect. The Inn is quiet, and the surrounding town is very peaceful yet there is a lot to do. It is only half an hour from Traverse City and only an hour from Sleeping Bear Dunes. The Inn served as a great home base for adventures last week. The Inn Keeper, Harvey, was great. He provided anything we needed, and made the most excellent breakfasts. He is even accommodating of special dietary needs, such as Gluten Free or an allergies. All you have to do is ask. There is also a nice little gift shop that he runs on the ground floor of the Inn, and any guests get 20% off purchases, which is really nice.Overall, it was an amazing place to stay, and my wife is begging me to come back every year for the rest of, well, forever...Definitely a great place to stay.
Dream Vacation - Dream Bed and Breakfast!!! Harvey (the inn keeper) thinks of everything to make your stay amazing and goes out of his way to make you happy. The rooms are beautiful, functional, and CLEAN! Harvey makes wonderful breakfast for all guests! The inn is very close to torch lake and nearby shops/restaurants. It is close to Traverse City but far enough away for a cozy vacation. This B&B is worth every penny! HIGHLY RECOMMEND staying here!!! Even if you feel uneasy about a B&B, dont, you will love this place!
This is a very nice place to stay. Close to the water and right in the middle of the cute little town of Aldin. It is about a half an hour from Traverse City, so it is an easy trip if you would like to speak d some time there without staying right in the middle of the crowds. As for the Inn itself, the rooms are great. I especially enjoyed the Torch Lake room/suite, but we have stayed in other rooms that were also very nice. We had a chance to see the apartment on this trip, and that place e looks like it would be a lot of fun.The rooms were very clean and everything was kept up very well. Everything looked like it was brand new.The Innkeeper was very nice, and breakfast was great. I am not personally a fan of Bed and Breakfast stays, but I will say this one was very nice, and I would come back without hesitation.
Second time at this beautiful Inn. We spent our 24th Anniversary in the Torch Lake Room. It was so romantic and cozy we found it hard to leave the room, even with Torch Lake a short stroll away. Harvey is a wonderful chef so we also had a delicious breakfast every morning. If you havent been here yet then you are missing out. Thank you Harvey and Merlin well see you next year.
The nicest rooms, the absolute best and most comfortable bedding, beautiful bathroom and nicely appointed. Homemade breakfast is absolutely the best. Nice and comfortable atmosphere. Quiet and away from everything but half hour drive to get to Traverse city And short drive to Restaurant, wine bar and brewery. Will definitely be coming back.
Wow! Great experience at the Inn at Torch Lake. We spent two lovely days in the Torch Lake Room at the end of our 20th Anniversary Adventure. My husband and I are from Southern California and this was our first trip to the Great Lakes area. I found the Inn at Torch Lake by reading various reviews on-line and thought they must all be too good to be true - but indeed this place is everything everyone says it is. The owner, Harvey, and his little dog Merlin are the best hosts! It felt like we were staying with family. The room was awesome, the bed was VERY comfortable, and the room was spotless. We will be back for sure!! Thank you to the Inn at Torch Lake for making the end of our journey as memorable as the beginning!
My wife and I stayed there last weekend for our anniversary and had an excellent experience! The rooms are great, comfortable and very clean. Harvey really does a great job making you feel at home and the location is very close to the lake. If you are looking for a great weekend getaway this is the place!
Absolutely fabulous visit to The Inn At Torch Lake. Stayed 3 days and nights and Harvey was so accomodating. Wonderful breakfasts....next time Im going to try to get a couple recipes : ) Highly recommend for a wonderful, relaxing stay. Harvey has thought of everything to make your stay perfect!
I have nothing but good things to say about The Inn at Torch Lake. My wife and I spent most of the week here for our honeymoon and Harvey did everything he could to make it perfect. The room was amazing, the breakfasts Harvey prepares were first class, the location was walking distance from the lake, and the town has great little shops. We couldnt ask for any more.
If you are looking for a quaint get-away, whether it be for a family vacation or romantic trip, look no further. Harvey, the Innkeeper at the Torch Lake Inn, will make sure your trip is everything you want it to be. My husband and I spent a few nights at the Torch Lake Inn for our honeymoon. Before heading to Torch Lake, we spent some time at a high-end resort in Petoskey. It was a breath of fresh air when we arrived at Harvey’s Inn. Alden allowed us to enjoy all that Northern Michigan had to offer without all the “busyness”. The rooms were IMMACULATE and the breakfasts that Harvey prepares are to die for! Harvey was so accommodating and willing to go above and beyond to ensure we were content. The Inn was just a short walk to the lake. There are a few swimming areas, otherwise you can drive to the sandbar or rent a boat for a ½ or full day. There is also a small shop near the water where you can rent kayaks. One day there was a farmers market on the street with live music. Harvey was lending out his chairs to allow guests to enjoy the entertainment. There are only a few shops and places to eat in Alden (Alden Bar & Dockside were good options) however Bellaire was only a short drive away. Perhaps my favorite part of staying at the Inn was Harvey’s sweet dog, Merlin. We’ve stayed at some other Bed and Breakfasts in the past, but this was our favorite. We are already planning our next trip!

2021-06-11We enjoyed our recent stay here. The host, Harvey, was great to work with. He was helpful in determining what we liked and offered good suggestions. Our room had a nice view of quiet woods with a partial view of Torch Lake. It was very clean, the bed was comfortable. We liked having a sink and refrigerator in our room. The bath was private and had a large shower area. Breakfast was delicious. The location of the Inn would be perfect for renting a boat on Torch Lake in the summer or seeing the fall colors. Our room had a fireplace. Other larger rooms had a jacuzzi, too. Highly recommend!

2020-08-07This Inn is absolutely perfect! The beds and pillow are perfectly comfortable. The jacuzzi was nice and relaxing after a long day. The breakfast is absolutely delicious and Harvey even accommodates diet restrictions and picky eaters if you tell him before booking! Honestly though the breakfast here rivals other breakfast places! It’s absolutely delicious! Harvey is a wonderful Innkeeper, he was very accommodating with our kids and so very welcoming! We hope to come again minus the kids next time! Much love from Columbus Ohio

2020-06-20We stayed here on a whim. Harvey the owner was great. We were super happy with our room and the breakfast he cooks was awesome. I’d go there just for the breakfast if it was offered. Harvey would do anything to make his guests feel welcome and comfortable. The area is also nice and quiet and close to the big cities if you want that. There’s plenty of things to do in the area. Great stay. Def will return.

2020-09-23Absolutely loved staying at the Inn on Torch Lake. Extremely comfortable, clean, great breakfasts by Harvey, excellent location. Cannot really say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay here. Had a little balcony to do reading on a nice cool morning, walk to the lake or the playground with the kids, and get Ice Cream in town. Plus the gift shop connected to the Inn has nice things for all, especially the kids, and you get a discount as a resident of the Inn. Great spot for bike riding as well. Grocery store and a very good pizza spot less than a couple of miles away.

2020-07-17My in-laws have been going here for years. We traveled with them here for the first time and now know why they keep going back. From the moment you step foot inside, you are welcomed with open arms by the most gracious host. Harvey will do everything in his power to make sure your stay is nothing short of amazing. He maintains each room and the property to a T! Everything is so clean. The room was comfortable and cozy, but the breakfast is the hook that will make you return next year.We will definitely be back.
