This place was highly recommended by a friend/coworker. Mason Jar Cafe did not disappoint. Everything was delicious. I had the turkey-apple-goat cheese sandwich. My wife had the amish chicken and tomato-basil soup. We were simply amazed at how every bite was so tasty. When were in the area again, well be back.
I am visiting family in Michigan and we stopped at Mason Jar for lunch. I am a vegan (my cousin eats a standard diet). The food is delicious! I ordered a vegan entree (Lauren’s special) and it was amazing. Cousin ordered the crab cakes and also loved her meal. The restaurant is interesting and comfortable. Staff is friendly and very helpful with menu selection. This is a must stop in Benton Harbor!
Traveled to Benton Harbor to visit a few shops on Wednesday, Dec. 8th and decided to have a late lunch at 2pm Mason Jar. The food and drink I ordered was delicious but I was disappointed in the service. The waitress was awful! She never offered more water and only asked if the food was good when handing me the bill. This time of day (2pm), the restaurant was very slow. Ava, only had one table & one person (me) to serve. So disappointed! Three stars for delicious food, drink, & hostess.
I wish I could give less than one star. Disclaimer, I never tasted the food. After waiting 20-25 minutes we watched multiple people get sat that arrived after us get sat so we finally went up and asked when we were up? We were sat immediately after that… no high chair was offered or brought to us.. we went and got our own. We sat and waited at least 10 minutes for a waitress to even acknowledge we were seated at all. She was more worried about chit chatting than even getting us waters. We decided to leave, the hostess watched everything unfold and didn’t even look at us as we walked past! Super disappointed ☹️
Breakfast place with a touch of art. Food is good, drinks are interesting, service with a smile from behind the mask. Coffee very teasty and planty of choices for it. Portions are generous so what more can you ask for Sunday breakfast. Practical advice get on the waiting list before you hard out there so there will be no wait when you arrive.
Wait time was a bit long, but well worth it. They text when table is ready allowing for a stroll to the shops in the area making a 30 minute wait seem pretty quick. Rustic ambiance and delicious organic options from local farms makes this a great choice to start your day. Try the duck bacon. So delicious.
This was my second time going to The Mason Jar and I took my friend to go out on Mother’s Day for her birthday. I planned on buying her meal and I asked for the bill and it came out to $120 for just a mother’s day buffet. Our waitress hadn’t even told us how much the buffet was and it was not advertised anywhere! That is an outrageous price for two people just for a breakfast, while we only got one plate.
This is our absolute favorite breakfast spot when we are in the St Joseph area. Fresh ingredients and creative selections never disappoint. I always order some duck bacon, it is delicious. The coffee is also great and they offer cold brew concoctions as well. There is an artist collective inside so be sure to peruse the stalls. Benton Harbor has a wonderfully vibrant art scene and this restaurant is really the perfect way to start a day taking it in.
The Mason Jar in the Arts District of downtown Benton Harbor has fantastic food, tasty beverages, and a helpful staff. Currently they have bubble tents set up on their patio, and have done a good job of navigating safety and service during COVID. Couple of menu shoutouts... The crab cakes are primarily meat with little filler, and are delicious. If you order a breakfast plate, ask for the pancake as a side. OMG, it’s beyond fluffy, and delicious, and makes a fantastic dessert. 😉
I love this place! Ive been coming here since they opened, but moved a couple years ago and this is one of the restaurants I miss the most! Staff are so friendly and the food is excellent. They are so good with substitutions and have lots of vegetarian/vegan/gluten free options.
An iconic gem in the midst of Michigan. Vibrant, bustling spot with delicious meals, organic foods, and a charming wait staff. Also LGBTQ+ friendly! I had the Huevos Rancheros and my pal had the Jalapeño Scramble, they both exceeded our expectations. Would come back here at any opportunity I get.
When in Benton Harbor this is a must stop for breakfast or lunch.Locally sourced and freshly prepared food. They also sell Kombuchade Kombucha.I ordered the egg scramble with smoked salmon which was excellentService was great.Lots of free parking.Nice friendly family orientated locationLocated at 210 Water Street Benton Harbor, MI.
I absolutely love this place!!! The food is always top quality & the aesthetic is super artsy! They have a lot of local & natual/organic menu options. Their breakfast menu is to die for. Some of my favorites are the Stuffed french toast, GF zucchini waffle, & breakfast sandwich (I like to substitute teriyaki tofu for the eggs.) Come early because it gets packed pretty quickly for brunch on the weekends. While waiting to be seated (or after your meal) take a stroll around the art studios /shops in the main part of the restaurant; theres always something unique & interesting to see.
Wow, this place was delicious! As we drove through Benton Harbor on the way into town, everything looked abandoned. Finding this gem on a side street was a true treat! The place was way bigger than expected and we were Sat in an area that had other little art studio shops within. Menu was great (I get happy when I can find non dairy milk!). Food was delicious. Staff was very friendly. Highly recommended this place and be sure to walk around to the studios afterward.
The food was so good! Loved the duck bacon and stuffed French toast. Tasted my moms smoked whitefish salad and it was delicious. Shared a toasted marshmallow hot chocolate with my daughter. It was yummm. My dad had duck hash and said it was wonderful. Perfect start to the day!
This is an old gas station turned Art Gallery, Book Store, Hand Crafted Jewelry , Glass Work, Breakfast, Brunch & Lunch Cafe. As We left South Haven headed to Chicago, we called and put our name on the list. By the time we arrived our table was ready. Downside. Too bad we didn’t order our food then too. It was about 40 minutes before we got our order - Upside the food was spot on! All locally sourced, hand squeezed OJ, every thing prepared on site. Corn Beef Hash was awesome. The Huevos Rancheros was the BOMB. cOM and thank the lord because after that wait if it wasn’t I would have been upset. Awesome place to check out if you’re anywhere near that part of Michigan. We will go back, eat, shop and stay awhile.
Fantastic breakfast. The wagyu steak was tender, the smoked salmon was great, the pancake is the best pancake Ive ever had at a restaurant and the potatoes are very good. The server was attentive and very friendly, great service. Cool repurposed building car garage. Nice relaxing atmosphere. Nice outdoor area. Spicy bloody mary was decent
This place was amazing! One of my favorite dining experiences of the past year. Food was so fresh and delicious. The patio was awesome and had some pretty cool art installations. Came here after a hard hike at the Warren Dunes. Perfect cap to our day trip from Chicago.
Wow! What a cute and artsistic place! The restaurant floor is tucked into an art gallery which adds a really nice ombiance. The food is also beautiful and delicious! We had the stuffed french toast and jalapeño sausage omelette. The french toast wasnt overly sweet and had a very nice texture. The omelette was very fresh and a lot of their ingredients are locally sourced. They gave us a plethora of unique sauces with our meal which were nice to try and pair. We also had some fresh grapefruit juice which went nicely with the meal. The meal and drinks came out to about $15 per person. After the meal we went around looking at the gallery and taking photos. We will definitely come back again!
I had read about the Mason Jar in the MichIana farm to table food magazine. They were packed on the beautiful Saturday when we arrived, but it still only took about 20 minutes for a table. We chatted with a few people waiting there who had been there before and they assured us it was worth the wait. They were so right! It was hard to choose because they have a great menu. Our waitress was fantastic and knew the food well. My husband had the most tender, juicy and flavorful chicken sandwich we’ve ever had (yes, I stole a bite) and my grass fed burger was just fantastic. We had waffles and pancakes for dessert at the recommendation of another couple there, and the were perfect - light but crispy. We will be back and I highly recommend it!
Delicious food and delightful service! The smoked salmon scramble was one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a very long time, and the pancakes are unparalleled. If you have the opportunity to come for breakfast or brunch, I highly encourage you to. Arrive early, because it fills up quickly! But it’s worth the wait!
Based on the current rating, my 5 star review will blend in. I wanted to put my 2 cents in though. This place is AMAZING! Besides the decor and setting (with rented artisan shops inside) the food also holds strong. After drooling and mulling over the menu, I decided on the huevos rancheros (hold the cheese) with chorizo & the cayenne almond / coconut milk latte. I couldn’t have been happier! Their attention to detail and care truly shines. It is so nice to visit a restaurant that provides gluten free options and alternatives. It is a rarity to find restaurants that are knowledgeable about food restrictions, but the mason jar is one of them! Our waitress was also a gem, she showed excitement and provided excellent service.
The best breakfast I have ever eaten and Ive dined in several states and several countries. I love doing these reviews but sometimes I sound pretentious....Im far from it. Five stars should be very difficult to achieve. The Mason Jar is five stars. Farm fresh and very delicious food. Everything we ordered was delicious, they were busy there and they took great care of us. Seriously cant wait to return.
Seriously amazing food. The restaurant itself is quaint and cozy, the staff friendly and you can tell they take pride in the food they make. The Heuvos Rancheros and the spicy egg sandwich are my all time favorites. You cant go wrong with any of the food options here. For all the times Ive been here Ive never once had lunch, need to get on that soon!
If you want the best breakfast youve ever had. Well, heres your place! Absolutely love this place. Best breakfast food Ive ever had in my life. My go to is the Zucchini Bread Waffle, crunchy on the outside, gooey and soft on the inside. Amazing. Will ALWAYS recommend.
Amazing food!! Hands down our best meal of the weekend in St. Joe. Bit of wait for food to arrive (we were here at busiest time on Sun morn), but the wait was more than worth it. Very generous portions, food cooked to perfection, large variety of options on the menu. Very friendly to special diets. Robust variety of vegetarian/vegan options.
Best in class if your looking for authentic vintage industrial decor with a CHEF STAFFED KITCHEN. Breakfast and lunch only but creative the menue changes often and the ribs are my favorite even at breakfast. Seafood option in french style omelets and many pancake combinations. Smiles everywhere staff and customers?
Long lines on the weekend and a very undesirable Host area with servers coming out right across from this tiny standing area but...once sat our server was great, their homemade lemonade is amazing! Food was average, I got a 2 egg over medium breakfast with Canadian ham and toast, wasnt very hot, flavor was really good on the diced red potatoes but not warm however for me what saved the place was all the little artists booths/shops inside. The 3 that were open the Saturday we were there were all neat lil shops. One was over the top amazing...its the one with the larger crystals in the window right next to the dinning room. The owner/ lady running it inside was truly amazing and we enjoyed our talk with her so very much and of course we enjoyed the peices we purchased from the shop. Overall I would go back maybe just much earlier in the morning versus early afternoon and probably never on a weekend! They have a great little place with a cool set up once you get past the entrance/host stand. Wish them all the best as I know they were extremely busy that day, we had a reservation through yelp that secured our place in line (2 hour wait) so with that they are doing something right! Better heat lamps maybe!!😉
I dont normally post google reviews, but if any restaurant deserves 5 stars its the Mason Jar! With fantastic service, the staff is always extremely friendly and welcoming and the food just seems to get better every time I go! Service is quick but they dont make you feel rushed and they do an amazing job of catering towards any dietary restrictions (the vegan pancakes are amazing!). This has been my favorite breakfast place ever since I discovered it a year ago. I leave for Air Force Basic Training in two weeks and I can for sure say that The Mason Jar and its friendly staff is one of the things that I will miss the most about living here. Ive only ever had their breakfast, but if their lunch menu is anything similar, I guarantee that it will be one of the best dining experiences youve ever had!
Me and my wife were in town on our anniversary. Called ahead to place our names at just after 10 am. Were told it was a 25 minute walk in wait time and less with the call ahead seating. Long story short. After an hour and a half wait AFTER getting there we left and went somewhere else across town. Got sat down and our order taken before we got our text about our table being ready from the mason jar. Start to finish it took two hours from call ahead to the table ready text, and we were told 25 minutes. That is beyond unacceptable. We were supposed to have brunch and ended up going across town to get a burger after noon! If you are calling ahead or waiting there for a table just keep in mind that they are GROSSLY dishonest about their wait times.
Always great food and friendly service! The sandwiches are delicious, made with fresh local ingredients. We love the art studios inside as well - so many interesting things to see. Our most recent visit was carry out, with the indoor dining ban. They did have some plastic tents outside with heaters, but they were full. We walked in, took a look at the menu, placed our order, and browsed the art for a bit. Had hot delicious food in hand less than 10 minutes later.
The food has been so good each time we’ve gone here. We’ve had breakfast potatoes, pancakes, zucchini bread waffle, and a brown sugar cinnamon vanilla latte. Everything was so delicious, the latte a little underwhelming but the waffle being one of it not the best I’ve had (it’s gluten free, but I’m not sure if I’d know that if the menu didn’t say so). Definitely recommend, overall great experiences every time so far!
Highly recommend. Stuffed french toast, corned beef hash, pancakes are all great choices. Our server, Elisha, was fantastic and the highlight of our visit. She gave great recommendations and was game for us to sample things when we were unsure. So glad we chose The Mason Jar to start our day.
Wow! What a gem. Worth a special trip to treat yourself and or your family. You really cannot but a price on great food with wonderful service. All of this in a clean, neat, and trendy environment. I could go on and on but this is what 5 star treated is all about. Serra my server made this dine in expecting world class.
Excellent meal, if the service was more attentive it would be five stars. We went for brunch, but my favorite part of the meal was the mug of Nutella hot chocolate (it was the size of my face). Its a total must if you love Nutella! The most unique thing about this spot isnt their tech use (an app to show you when your table is ready) or scrumptious food, its that they share the building with a book shop and artists! Everything from glasswork to painting can be found.
I have been coming here for over 3 years. This is the creme de la creme of breakfast. Seriously everything on their menu is amazing. My go to is the huevos rancheros. It’s the best around. They are always very busy on holiday weekends and I can see why. The only negative here is some of the waiters have hair dyed in crazy colors (blue, green, purple, pink).
Were annual vacationers to the St. Joseph area. We found The Mason Jar Cafe last year and have added it to our must list. Yes, the wait can be on the long side...but its so worth it! The food is amazing. The buttermilk pancakes are the best! Their egg breakfasts are awesome...eggs come with healthy ingredients like salmon and broccoli with amazing cheeses. Crab cakes are small but authentic and yummy. Their fresh squeezed orange juice is the best. You wont be disappointed!
I don’t know who would have half a mind to give a 2-3 score, I understand going from McDonalds to a great place like this maybe out of your price range, you should most likely stay home! I have been all over this country and this is by far the best food I have ever had, this place is not a fast food restaurant, they have real Chefs. If something has gone wrong which happens from time to time anywhere the owner will usually come out and apologize and make it right, who does that. BEST FOOD TO EAT SINCE I MOVED BACK AFTER FIFTEEN YEARS. That is why the wait on some days if over an hour, but worth the wait.
The menu options are creative and delicious. We love the waffles and specialty coffee drinks. The food is fresh and locally sourced when possible. I can indulge while feeling good about the quality ingredients. There is one catch, they are extremely busy during the summer - especially on the weekends. Be prepared to wait an hour or more if you plan to visit during the busy time.
We loved this place. Ordered curbside but went in to pick up. The staff was so friendly and the ambience was really cool inside. We will definitely be going back to eat in. The parking lot was completely full on a Friday morning but luckily there is plenty of street parking near by. We got the goat cheese grits with poached eggs on top. I am a big fan of cheesy grits and polenta and these did not disappoint. They were in a square polenta form and the combination of eggs and cheese and grits melted in my mouth. So good. We also had huevos rancheros. These were also excellent with lots of queso fresco and warm fresh salsa. I would have preferred soft tortillas to the hard tostadas, but overall it was still very good. We will definitely go back and recommend to our friends.
This is one of my favorite places to stop when I am in town. The staff is amazing and the food is incredible. If you are conscious of what you are eating and worried about health concerns this is the place for you. The food is very clean here, also fresh and local. That said its still tastes out of this world. Gluten free waffles that tastes great! And my favorite the stuffed French toast. Ive had the burger at lunch as well and that is one of my favorites. Cant say enough good things about this place.
Ive come to the conclusion that the amount of people that say theyre vegan or gluten sensitive in this are basically lying, especially if you go to the Mason jar Cafe. They are literally cooking everything on one 3x3 tiny flattop grill. That includes their famous vegan pancakes, served fresh cooking right next to their glorious jalapeño sausage soaking in all its delicious juices.
The wait was short on a Saturday noon. It was full.Very slow negligent service. Our extra water didnt arrive until we were half done with our meal. Our condiments came later. The extra salad dressing came after we were completely done with our meal. My farmers salad was bland, but her huevos rancheros were excellent. Great black tea. Long wait to be served.Or second visit. We had a covid ⛺. It was surprisingly nice!😊 We kept warm, the food was good, tho the wait was still a bit long, the servers were helpful and friendly. Not bad for a second visit. Upgrading from 2 stars to 4 stars.Dont forget to like reviews and photos you like. It helps the reviewer.
I can tell you from personal experience that The Mason Jar cares very much about the source of their food. This is important to me because too many places are not honoring the truth in marketing when presenting their products. The Mason Jar sources locally from farms and producers in the area. This is excellent, healthy food, carefully prepared. Remember to slow down and enjoy the moment, be respectful and support local. My recommendations are Laurens Special with poached eggs, and on the sweet side, the stuffed french toast, which I had avoided for years because I was worried it would be too sweet, it was not. Many vegetarian and vegan options. Locally raised meats for omnivores. Carry out and curbside service available during pandemic.
Literally the best waffle Ive had in my entire life. Dropped in here while visiting my parents from Atlanta, GA. Friendly and efficient service. Wonderful, wonderful food. A++++ 10/10. If my car was strong enough to haul this restaurant down to GA I would hook it up and tow it back down to Atlanta. Keep up the good work. I can only dream about the next time Ill be able to get another one of their waffles.
Ordered the chicken sausage quiche - I have never had a more silky smooth, fresh, flavorful quiche! The oversized coffee blended flavors perfectly! Had to wait a few minutes for a table, but it was brunch and that gave us time to browse the art studios and chat with the artists. Absolutely recommend!!!
When I first walked in I was lost, extremely lost actually but then I heard my name by Tommy and I knew this was the place to fill my belly.I had an amazing and delicious chicken sandwich, just a bit of cheese and lettuce and magical yellow sauce as well as an amazing veggie hummus sandwich. And last but not least to end it all a meal fit for me and just me, fried potatoes, salmon mixed with a bit of eggs and spinach. Most delectable thing Ive ever had.I dont know the name of my server but she was nice and so was everyone else. The Mason Jar Cafe has art studios inside I had no idea. Its not just a place to fill my belly anymore.
The atmosphere is really nice. The building houses a variety of artists spaces, and those are open to shop and view the art. The food here is clearly aimed at breakfast and lunch. All the items are chosen with quality and taste being the prime directive. Everything was simply great, and accompanied by great service. We had breakfast, and several in our group ordered various Quiche of the day... there were a variety to choose from, and they were all very good. One person ordered the zucchini bread waffle, which was very nice, and I had the jalapeno sausage omelet, which was spicy but not overly so. This is a breakfast place for the foodie!
Very well prepared food with top quality ingredients. Lots of gluten free options that taste as good or better than their gluten counterparts. The gluten-free oat pancakes might be the best pancakes Ive ever had. Crab cakes are gluten free as well, really good. Great coffee drinks as well. Sometimes there is a wait, but the art gallery makes the time waiting for a table go by quickly.
First time here and though the wait for a table was near an hour, the galleries in the building itself and nearby kept us busy. The food and friendly service was worth the wait. The staff were all busy but smiling and sharing giggles with us and other customers. Really gave it the whole friendly down home feeling that is rare to find these days. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful. They food came out quickly and was perfect. Highly recommend the Zucchini waffle with the fresh blueberries n strawberries. Just an amazing place doing it up right.
Excellent place for all kinds of food and art. It could use some work for the bathroom in the very back where theres a leakage. Other than that, anything you order from this place whether it be a tea, a root beer, or a burger, it is well worth the price. It also has a very laid back atmosphere along with very friendly staff. The only real downside is you might have to wait a little longer than usual. Id recommend this place to anyone whos willing to try exotic.
One of my favorite places! I live in South Bend and it is worth the drive. They have amazing lattes, especially the honey lavender latte. They also have really great Brunch items. The little shops with in the place are cute and interesting as well. I enjoy bringing guests here.
A wonderful assortment of options to choose from and a very attentive staff. Relaxed atmosphere in an art studio environment. We were a party of four that ordered different things and all were delicious and visually appealing. Laurens Special - definitely the winner; Stuffed French Toast - excellent choice, a tad heavy on the mascarpone but very delicious; Zucchini Bread Waffle - with bacon and chocolate chips is a different take on Belgian-style waffles; Huevos Rancheros - nothing special here, but were very tasty. The adult beverages were also delicious.
Great food! If it wasn’t for the horrible service, I would have given it a 5 star. Hostess was scattered brained and argumentative about receiving a text stating that “our table was ready to be seated” stating that “our table was not ready” and that “she never sent such a text”. We had to show her the text in order for her to realize she was wrong. Wait staff was very slow and un attentive.
Beautiful venue and great food. The dining room has two sections, one in the main restaurant, and one among a number of art studios. Very artsy and pleasant. The food is also very good. The menu is simple but tasteful, with creative options and lots of gluten free options. It also tells where most of the ingredients source from, mostly local farms and bakeries. I would definitely recommend it to anyone seeking high quality breakfast and lunch options with good portion sizes and in a casual venue
This is probably one of the best breakfast joints in area, great atmosphere food is amazing and their coffee is better than most places around here, that was the good the downside is if you dont have time. The wait times can be a little bit longer then one would hope, so go with time the staff is super nice and the prices are pretty fair for what youre getting which is good quality food that will definitely fill you up good place for basically everyone! 10 out of 10 would recommend. Oh and they have fresh made orange juice which is basically the cherry on top.
I have been here a few times and I have never been disappointed in anything!Zucchini waffle is a must try! My friend had it and let me try it. Amazing! Served with real Michigan maple syrup!I had the Mason Jar breakfast with eggs, bacon, and red potatoes (they were crispy and so good I had to eat every last one) the Bit of Swiss toast with the bluberry lemon jam was to die for. I almost didnt get my toast. I dont know what I was thinking! The fresh squeeze orange juice was great too!If you are visiting from out if town I highly recommend this place, good food, nice people, and its in the arts district! The kitchen is small, the staff hard working and even the owner is hands on and involved. This is what I like to see in a business!
The food tastes amazing. Everything. They love what they do & care about the quality of the food they feed you. The service is on point & they always make you feel at home. Yes they get busy at times...they’re the best breakfast place in the area, so that’s to be expected. Highly recommend. I leave happier than I arrived, every single time.
Great experience here overall! However, you should know what to expect: if youre looking for a simple diner style build-your-own-omelet kind of thing with a pound of hash browns on the side and a mug of whatever the coffee maker puts out, this is not the place for you. For instance, my wife had a ciabatta bagel with egg, tomato, spinach, guacamole and aoli with a side of jalapeño sausage. I had an elk burger with a side of duck bacon. When we asked for coffee we were asked what kind of roast we wanted. Everything tasted wonderful and was priced on par with what youd expect from the above description. If this isnt what youre looking for, dont feel judged: most of the time the aforementioned type of traditional diner is exactly what my wife and I are looking for.
One of the best breakfasts Ive ever had! i ordered the goat cheese grits with teriyaki tofu instead of eggs and it was amazing...easily the best tofu Ive ever eaten. the menu has lots of vegetarian and gluten-free options. the gf zucchini bread waffles are also amazing.
My wife and I visited the Mason Jar approximately 12 weeks ago. It was a weekday at approximately 0900. The establishment is cozy, the food is fresh and you are able to see the food being prepared. The service was friendly and quick. My wife had the Zucchini waffle which was gluten free. I was not sure how this would taste, but it was awesome. The flavor was incredible and the mixture of local syrup and whipped butter with the waffle made this a pleasant surprise. I had the quiche of the day. It has jalapeno chicken sausage with artichoke. That was incredibly flavorful as well. Quiche is a simple dish, but I am picky about the texture of quiche. It is easy to get quiche too soggy or overcooked, this was neither. It was piping hot, texture was perfect and taste was marvelous. I would definitely recommend this establishment and I cant wait to try the other items on the menu. Oh! Coffee, served in a hardy mug and tasted fresh and earthy...my favorite combination.
During a recent trip, my wife and I stayed in the loft above the cafe and ate breakfast here on Saturday and Sunday morning. The menu was very well thought out, something for everybody. And the food was very good, after the first day there was no doubt we would be eating here on Sunday. We did not experience any issues with waiting as some other reviewers have mentioned, and both days the cafe was nearly full when we arrived. I will be back any time I am in the St. Joes/Benton Harbor area.
I have food allergies and these guys always do a great job helping me navigate the menu. I havent had a reaction from eating here and the price is fair for allergy friendly food. They are pretty busy on the weekends, so I try to stop in on my days off during the week. They have lots of local artwork up around the restaurant and some small studios. Its lots of fun getting to talk to the local artists there and seeing their work.
When here on a spur of the moment while driving through Michigan. My daughter and I were looking for a place to get lunch and she has food allergies so she looked up places on a gluten free app that she has and this was one of the places that came up. And wow what a great place. They have a little art display from local artist and everything is for sale, they have a few little consignment jewelery shops that make customer pieces. The place is clean and very unique. The staff is the greatest, and our waitress was great also, wish I could remember her name.
The food is incredible. The Stuffed French Toast is the best single breakfast item Ive ever eaten. My girlfriend and I usually order that along with one other item to split, and none of the other items have disappointed either. Ingredients are incredibly fresh and cooked to consistent perfection. Not once have we been served anything that was the slightest bit off.The wait area is large and features an art gallery and tiny book shop. This place is consistently busy, so take advantage of the NoWait app to get in line.
I’ve never had a bad meal here! My favorite has to be the broccoli and kale crustless quiche. Their gluten free pancakes and the biscuits and chicken gravy are not to be missed either. Wait can be a little long at times but it’s extremely worth it. You’ll get great taste for the price too!
Definitely worth the drive from the Chicagoland area! We had there Stuffed French Toast and Goat cheese & Grits Cakes and they were AMAZING! The owners were very nice and welcoming too! If youre thinking about visiting this establishment, dont hesitate! You wont regret it!
Slow service and very so so layout and atmosphere. Food is OVERPRICED. $9 for only 2 eggs, one piece VERY HARD bread and small portion fruit. Banana pancakes were over cooked and with strange taste. Coffee latte $4 got additional charge because of caramel flavor (0.50) and almond milk (0.25) substitution for milk. The additional charges were not labeled on menu. The coffee aroma was plain. I give 0 star if I can. Never go back.

2022-06-01Wow, what a great place. Usually you find great coffee but so-so food. Not here! Everything was top notch. Ive been looking for a good Huevos Rancheros since a trip to Texas and the Mason Jar hit the nail on the head. Our Servers recommendations were spot on and very appreciated.

2022-04-30Easily one of the best breakfast spots I have stumbled upon. Coming back from a work trip in Chicago has now become a annual visit. The food, drinks & atmosphere are all top notch. When you’re done eating check out the record store next door.

2021-10-10If you are in this area and do not go here, YOU ARE MAKING A BIG MISTAKE. This was honestly one of my most decadent, fresh, and satisfying meals I have ever eaten. It is 100% farm to table and locally sourced - you can tell in the flavor. Salt and pepper not even needed. We took our server’s suggestion (who was darling) and she did not steer us wrong. I may make the three hour drive simply to go here again.

2021-10-09At a time where staff is hard to find, the Mason Jar was filled with a welcoming staff who seemed happy to be there. Our server Ricky was engaging, knowledgeable of the menu and proud of the business commitment of serving organic, sustainable farm to table food. They are also gluten friendly which is a bonus for me since I cannot have gluten. And the food!! (I got the Dutch Apple pancake and my husband got the goat cheese grits) both were amazing! Keep up the great food and service 😊

2021-08-30Best brunch place in Saint Joe, hands down. Food is fresh, delicious and filling. On top of the phenomenal food, the staff is so nice. Brought my 2 year old and they brought out coloring and paper for him. Everyone is just so nice. Prices are a little steep (12-14/plate) but totally worth it for the quality of the food.

2021-09-27Came here for the first time with friends. The food was good. I had the Mason Jar Breakfast. It was a plate with eggs, chicken sausage, multigrain toast, and potatoes. The decor is really cool and there’s a lot of sunshine that comes through the restaurant. I’d definitely come again.
