The Meeting House in other cities:
We hadnt been in awhile. That was a mistake. I am experiencing a food high. The calamari is now our favorite. We order calamari at every place we go because it is simple but can go wrong fast. Everything was great. Come here when we arent so we dont have to wait for a table
Went to The Meeting House last night for dinner for the first time. Was very excited! Atmosphere was very nice. Servers were excellent! However the food was quite lacking. Two of our group ordered the pistachio basmati rice which seemed to have been sitting around in a warmer for hours. It was almost crunchy, not the pistachios but the rice. The spice dusted calamari was very tough and their option for a dipping sauce was ranch, not a good combination. The fried brussels sprouts while good, also seemed to be sitting in a warmer for hours as some of the outside leaves were like paper. The cedar planked salmon looked fabulous when it came to the table, but it had an outer shell on it that took a sharp knife to cut through. Another example of food that was not prepared fresh, instead cooked well before service and simply reheated. Overall the price of the food was much too high for the quality. I have no problem paying more for excellent food, but this food was certainly not excellent. Downtown Rochester has many wonderful restaurants to choose from, unfortunately The Meeting House is not one of them in terms of the food.
OUTSTANDING!!! 10 of us for Easter...cant recommend TMH enough...bar service was great, food..phenomenal our Server, Leah was fantastic, helpful, knowledgeable & sweet as can be!! I ended my PERFECTLY prepared Eggs Benedict with an after dinner drink The Mick...oh yes!! Our family LOVES this place!!
Another pleasant visit to The Meeting House! Always recommend their eggs Benedict. Today we also tried the grilled cheese and cream of tomato. Highly recommend the soup. The sandwich is a lovely change from the typical grilled cheese. My only gripe is that it seemed like there didn’t seem to be enough filling in it and it felt like glorified toast. However I’m giving the benefit of the doubt this time. They had to remake it for me because I’m allergic to whole grain bread which the first sandwich was made with. I also recommend the With a twist as a pleasant difference from the usual mimosa. Also the gin and lavender tea was very good, but not for everyone as it’s on the stronger side with all the flavors.
I used to live this place. I went recently and menu prices sky rocketed and the amount of food given decreased by 50 percent. There’s no way I’ll ever go back. You can easily pay 30 dollars for just one entree and get a very very small amount of food. Everything else like salad sold separately. Overall extremely disappointed.
🍸The Meeting House is our absolute favorite place for THE tastiest craft cocktails in all of downtown Rochester. It’s quaint spot, modern atmosphere, chill vibe, phenomenal service, and tastiest drinks, never disappoint!! The Meeting House always feels like a little piece of Traverse City’s dining, right here in Oakland County! They even offer wine from Mawby!! 💛Tip: Do make a reservation ahead of time to reserve your seat.
Cool vibe with an upbeat atmosphere. The mixologists did a wonderful job with our drinks. On the way to the bathrooms, I noticed the dining area in the back was a bit more intimate and less noisy. Our table next to the windows up front offered a good view of the busy street outside and bar area for some good people watching. Our dinner was excellent! I would highly recommend the Mushrooms served with goats cheese. The French Onion Soup with Dumplings were not only unique but very tasty. Local friends decided they would most certainly be back but skip dessert next time. I thought the pistachio ice cream was nicely balanced between savory and sweet.
Sooo, date night and looking for dinner in a city we havent frequented much. We decided on Rochester, MI home of The Meeting House. We went around 8:00 p.m. and the restaurant was packed. There was approximately a half hour wait, which we gladly sat for. While waiting one cant help but to admire the decor of the restaurant. It has a retro modern feel to it.Once we were at our table the waitress was Johnny on the spot. We both ordered tasty cocktails and calamari for an appetizer. The appetizer was to our table within 10 minutes. The calamari was cooked perfectly and the garlic type sauce that came with it for dipping was amazing.Onto the entrees, I had the French style meatballs and the lady had the rainbow trout. Both meals were deliciously prepared. I must say the rainbow trout was the best that I have ever had. The way it was slightly pan-fried with a decadent crisp was more than delectable. We topped it off with coconut creme brulee. I must say that this was another successful date night in the books. Great job to The Meeting House. We hope to be meeting you again.
The service was very friendly!!!!😃😃😃I went on a week night and there was not a wait to get a table! 👍👍👍The place seemed clean! 👍👍👍👍I was surprised by how kid friendly they were! 🙏I ordered the duck and didn’t particularly like it. 🦆It came with the rice and that was sweet & not great. I did not ask to send the food back but I got the impression had I they would’ve accommodated. It was nice to try the meeting house. I probably wouldn’t go back but was glad I tried it. 🙂The atmosphere was nice! I was surprised that one of the booths was Duct tape considering the price and the otherwise upscale feel of the meeting house.I’m giving it three stars because I didn’t particularly enjoy the food. But the atmosphere was really nice as well as their friendly service. I would recommend to others. It’s just not for me.
During the day they have ice sculptures of beautiful animals and cool pop references cut intricately into ice, then at night the whole town comes alive with vibrant lights hanging everywhere and the restaurants packed to the brim offering their best grub. Every shop showcases what makes this little strip special and you’ll find items you can’t find ANYWHERE else!
We recently moved back towards Rochester Hills, MI again, and today, we decided to revisit downtowns main street. Amid Japanese hibachi and American steakhouses and burger joints, The Meeting House stood out as the dining destination for our tastes.Established in 2012, The Meeting House boasts locally sourced ingredients for its modern American menu. The interior has an industrial meets farmhouse aesthetic, like youd see on HGTVs Fixer Upper. We ordered a couple of the days specials: Moroccan spiced chicken soup with chickpeas, and the fried brussel sprouts. My boyfriend ordered the dried blueberry salad and cauliflower tempura for his entree, and I had the shrimp and grits for mine. The generously portioned shrimp and grits included mustard greens, grilled ramps, cubes of pork belly and tender, juicy prawns. You also get a craft paper bag with what I believe are pretzel ends, no dips or butter, just lightly seasoned and fluffy bread sticks! :)If my boyfriend hadnt already baked a chocolate cake at home, we would have ordered their interpretation of strawberry shortcake: biscuit bread pudding with chocolate mousse and strawberry jam. Yum!
So so good. We came here for brunch and (1) their drinks are great - highly recommend the spicy Bloody Mary and (2) their menu is awesome all around. I got the chicken and waffles - WOW. Some other dishes folks got were: blueberry waffles, shrimp and lobster Benedict, and salmon scramble. All were amazing!
I found the place to be a bit pretentious, for a general pub, but what do I know I am an East sider. The drinks all cost around ten dollars or more and a glass of wine is eight and above; a bottle of beer runs you at least five bucks. I/we ordered burgers and fries with a double patty, twelve bucks. The price of the burger combo wasnt horrible but not really worth it either. They used a sweet pickle on the burger and I am not sure what kind of fries these were but they were bland. The burger wasnt bad but it tasted like the chef had pressed all of the juice/fat out of it during cooking, it was on the dry side. The service was slow at first, the immediate greet and drink order took some time to occur; a table of 5 ladies sat down next to us and left after about 10 minutes of no service, we had contemplated leaving too.The menus are on a wooden clipboard, its unique but not necessary or easy for the customer to peruse. The interior is okay, more up front window seating would be better. Overall theres nothing that really impressed us, but it wasnt horrible either. I know its Rochester but I personally think you should stay in your lane, be a true pub and lose the posh ambience.
Holy moly this is the only place my wife ever wants to come to when shes in town. The drinks are well made and they have incredibly smart bartenders willing to make you any wonderful concoction. The apps, always a great start. Id recommend the roasted wild mushrooms and/or the steamed dumplings. For the entree, my absolute favorite are the beef tenderloin medallions, but you cant go wrong with the beef short rib (its massive). For dessert we alllllllways get ice cream. They make some of the most delicious ice cream in house. We also got the smores brownie dessert which was way more than we bargained for but still sweet and filling.
I’ve come here several times for brunch. Joel at the bar provides one of the best experiences/service that I’ve experienced. He always remembers us, even remembers the small talk we make. His demeanour is very calm and composed, he doesn’t look around when you’re talking to him or making an order. Also- the food is always consistent. We love it here.
This place was fantastic, even though they were obviously busy we got seated promptly as this place is large inside, the staff was more than friendly, especially to us out of townees asking about local things to see. But, the food, OMG the food was amazing, we had breakfast / brunch, and everyone loved their meals and cleaned the plates. Youll love this place! The small jars with spoons were salt & pepper.
The food was amazingly good, even the veggie dishes. I would never say that about the veggie dishes as I am meat lover kind a guy, but they are doing something right. Our waitress was so lovely and thoughtful especially with our little baby. I can say this place is a must see and done place. Enjoy...
Went for the first time yesterday, was pleasantly surprised! 10/10. Fast efficient service, & the food was soooo fresh. I got the tomato soup, side of sourdough for dipping, & the chopped salad with their marinated shrimp as a protein. One of the best salads I’ve ever had. Their pomegranate mimosas are to die for. Would recommend to anyone whose scrolling through reviews trying to decide where to stop by. You can’t go wrong w the meeting house 🔥
Awesome place…!!! We like to go for brunch, because food is always good and service is EXCELLENT..!! I just celebrate my husband’s birthday and USA citizenship there. When I called to book the table for 12, asked for the one closed to the American flag and they gave it to us…. The waiters were super nice and all the time asking if we needed something. They even help me to finish the cake decoration… I confirm this is a great place to go…!!!
I still love the Meeting House. They have a very limited menu now. Some of the favorites like the shrimp with wilted spinach and cheese grits and smores dessert arent available. Big bummer. The food is still great. Service is outstanding. But wish they would expand the dinner menu a bit!
Really cool place. Craft bartenders whipped me up an amazing pisco sour... Few places even carry pisco brandy. Got the scallop special which was really good & the salmon cakes as an appetizer, also super tasty. Bar stools were a bit uncomfortable but the rest of the seating looked cozy. Oh & I must not forget the brownie marshmallow dessert. Save room its huge & delicious!
The seating and the staff were great. Was not to happy with the meal. I got a fried chicken breast that I thought was going to be on top of hot little white potatoes, then corn for my veggie. The chicken was way over cooked, I cut it and the breading came off in a big chunk and was super hard, chicken was very dry. Potatoes were cold, I guess the way they wanted them to be, not my favorite the corn was good. The cook did come out and they removed my meal, this was a surprise and he was very pleasant.
This was a last minute change of plans since the other place was closed, and Im so glad it was. This could become a new favorite. Waitress went over and above on the hot chocolate. Normally I dont eat beef, so pan fried steak is not my idea of breakfast, but she made it sound so good I had to try it and it melted in my mouth. We will be back! I just hope seating inside allows for distance as I take covid seriously.
Wow! Brunch was amazing! Loved the ambiance and the service was in point. We sat upstairs next to the window looking over downtown Rochester Hills. Upstairs isnt as cute as the lower level, but the view made it pretty great. We ordered three dishes to split and the server brought it out already separated for us 😍 amazing!
Nice place, weve been a few times and I always forget about how terrible there calamari is. Like literally the easiest thing to master, Im sure most people would pay an additional $5 for something edible, we order it everywhere and the kids love calamari but neither kid would though it........so there food is normal good but the calamari is seriously not acceptable for that type of restaurant.
Lovely ambience, they have an roof top area, but u need to beat busy hours, food is excellent for breakfast, very rich menu. For dinner, its a smaller menu, but what they offer is excellent in presentation, quality, and flavors. Portions are just excellent , neither tiny nor huge. Everything is well balanced for a fantastic experience. Fast service, clean restaurant. Fresh food, welcoming servers. We have been here multiple times and its a fav place especially a nice breakfast on roof top on a sunny day such a lovely experience, u forget that u still in Rochester. Must try
Man, I feel very let down. The food is decent. Chicken wings tasted good. But they gave us 8 instead of 10 which they told us over the phone we will get 10. Okay two wings, but it’s still disheartening. We ordered a large roasted vegetable salad and it’s TINY. There are tiny tiny pieces of roasted veggies but mostly lettuce. For the price I felt super cheated not just in quantity of portions but also quality.I thought after reading reviews it would be a good pick but definitely not.
DO NOT EAT HERE! That is the most direct I can be. Let me explain further, the service was slow and poor, the food was overcooked and over priced. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.Side notes wait staff does not need to provide a good service experience as there tip is automatically included. This restaurant is a fail. Their limited menu should of meant their execution should of been amazing.Terrible, terrible, terrible...
We have been several times and during the covid restrictions the food quality went way up.My steak was delivered well done instead of medium rare and the waitress offered to remake it however we are there with friends and didnt want to wait while everyone else ate.I accepted the meal but now that they include gratuity now you figured the waitress would have made the effort to inform management that there was a problem with a customers meal.If the gratuity is auto included you hace an assumed level of service.I could live with the mis prepared meal because I accepted it but some acknowledgement of the error from management would have been appreciated.
GREAT place for dinners or Brunch on weekends! Bar area is quaint and the bartenders are super friendly and knowledgeable.Took my wife here last night to celebrate her birthday. The whole experience was awesome. Food was amazing and the team made it all extra special with their fantastic service! Will definitely go back again and again!
The food was ok, the things that arent good is the selection of Beers, they only give beers that are local to Michigan, they dont even have a Samual Adams. The service was a bit slow, and the waiters didnt understand us about the beer, but its understandable because the waitor was new.
Best food in the area hands down. I have never been disappointed when having a meal or a cocktail, and highly recommend Meeting House for any occasion. Most recently we were able to get a last minute table for Valentines Day and it set the mood for an exciting night ;)On a side note...I have tried many well prepared main courses here, but I still order the wings as an appetizer nearly everytime. I know it sounds basic, but trust me they are better than comparable wings at those chain places. Keep up the amazing work!
Better than average menu. Food options are bountiful and well prepared. The chicken wings and seared tuna stand out as small plates. The scallops are also worth a try. If youre just interested in drinks, The Meeting House has you covered. The mixologist are some of the best Ive ever been served by. Whether you want a boutique creation or just a shot and a beer, the selection and craftsmanship will not disappoint. Hours of operation are limited, theyre only open mid afternoon until 11 PM most days. Also not the best place to watch a game as they only have one TV. The patio upstairs is great for summer evenings.
Really enjoy this restaurant. Have been a few times now and I am always impressed with the quality of their food. Everything is very fresh and tastes great. Usually, start off with their chips and guac. The last time I enjoyed their steak medallions which were cooked perfectly. I also enjoy their avocado and blueberry salad. This sounds weird, but the Greek vanilla dressing that is on it makes it phenomenal. They are reasonably priced, but not the cheapest place. Will visit again.
Absolutely LOVE it here. Derek is very knowledgeable and you can tell he loves creating new recipes and crafting drinks. Everything was delicious. Service was pretty good, but the highlight was the food preparation and the drinks. Nice local Michigan food and high quality meat being served and the prices are very good considering the higher quality of food and drinks. Will definitely come here again when Im in the area and can only recommend it to anyone
We had a really nice dinner. Service was excellent and we cleaned our plates. We started with roasted vegetable salad and fried green tomatoes and then I had the beef tenderloin medallions while my husband had a sea scallop special. Everything was really great. They had M43 on tap so my husband was happy. I wouldnt take kids here, even though we saw some. We will definitely be back.
Had a wonderful experience for our first time eating here! Sunday Brunch was a surprise we didnt expect.. Full menu of Brunch items, very creative dishes, and our meals were delicious! My wife had the lobster omelet and I had the beef hash and eggs. Service was perfect and our waiter was very helpful. Our next out of town visitors will enjoy the brunch as we will be back!
What a fantastic place to dine. I have been to the Meeting House multiple times for brunch, and just recently went for dinner. The options for brunch are unique and delicious. There is nothing I have had for brunch that I disliked. It can be very busy on Saturdays and Sunday mornings so be aware of that. I very often will have their brunch specials because are absolutely amazing.Recently went for dinner and thought just as highly of this establishment as I do for brunch. Great drinks and the food is so so good. Can be a tad pricey, depending on what you get (obviously) but the food is absolutely worth the money. The servers are also very knowledgeable in explaining the menu, and the specials offered that evening. We will be back soon!
First time eating here. We met friends for dinner during the Rochester light festival. Every place was crowded, but we were able to get in after about an hour wait. Our waitress was great. She had an upbeat personality and was really attentive. The menu has a lot of American comfort food. I had the meatloaf. It was excellent. The other three people I was with also enjoyed their meals. Outside the meatloaf the short rib looked and smelled delicious and will probably be what I try next time. A great first experience.
Enjoyable atmosphere in downtown Rochester. The small bar area is great but the restaurant is super loud, so not great for intimate evenings. I found the food to be a bit better than mediocre (BBQ short ribs were cooked well, served barely warm, and nearly unseasoned) to poor (lasagna, poorly integrated flavor with an unappealing presentation). I will say that the chicken wings were excellent and generous. Overall, decent place where the food is frankly only OK but the atmosphere, while loud, is fun and lively.
Called in to ask if I need to make reservations, was told to just come in, no need to make reservations. Got there about 20 mins later and they would not seat me and my friend. I was told they’re closed because they are switching from lunch to dinner in the kitchen. If they were closed why didn’t they tell me when I called? I happen to observes the only people seated were white and eating. This definitely made me feel skeptical about if my ethnicity played a roll.
I paid $22 for shrimp and grits. 3 shrimp and a tablespoon of grits. Supurb. The corned beef hash needs what everything else in this place needs...salt (but heaven forbid there be salt at the table, the chef dresses it perfectly...) And Im not sure we could find the squash in the roasted vegetable salad, since I didnt bring my microscope with me. Overall my cat makes a better brunch. Servers are nice. Bathrooms are nice. 2 stars
Now its been a few years since I was here so everything couldve changed. But when I went, one, it was really expensive. Im talking, major life celebration expensive. Like $25+ a plate. I think I was splurging that night so I got a steak and it was not great. It had this dressing on it that tasted like it was trying to be fancy but just sucked. The service took forever too. And my husband didnt like his dish either. We concluded that maybe we just prefer cheap food and that fancy places like the Meeting House just werent our style. Who knows.
Going to start off with the food was good. The biggest thing was the serving size. I had the Beef Medallions and it was small. I had others in my group get different entrees which looked to be good sizes. If you go for the Medallions I would recommend against it. You get 2 asparagus cut up and half a mushroom with two small beef medallions. All in all definitely not worth the $33 price tag.
Excellent food. Emphasis on farm to table American food with very creative twists. The chefs are highly talented and obviously trained in high end culinary techniques. The bar is equally as talented and creative. Ask while being a mid price range and friendly social place. Not overly pretentious at all. S weekly hang out for me highly recommend
The meeting house offers a consistent great dining experience. It can be perfect for a date or night out with the family. The menu is limited with its options, specifically for vegetarians. It is a loud environment but the staff is professional and the food is fantastic.
Meeting House is a really trendy restaurant, the atmosphere is really nice. The food they cook is amazing, I tried their sauteed salmon, and it was simply out of this world. I recommend everyone to try this place, its very business casual, great for business negotiations. We closed a huge construction project here, and one of the highlights my client mentioned was his dinner from the Meeting House. Thank you for the awesome service. We will be back.
The food is quite good. The service was some of the warmest and most accommodating Ive experienced all year. Unfortunately the room was very loud and even after many people left, the mood music was so loud that my group still had to raise their voices considerably to hear each other speak. Id go back, but I do hope the management sees this and considers lowering the volume of the music and installing some sound absorbing objects to tame the din a bit.
Six months ago I left a review of this place on how wonderful it is but I would like to update again! On May 1st, this past Sunday, we celebrated my sons First communion Reception at The Meeting House with a party of 20 and I am very happy that we were able to celebrate at this fine establishment! They have an upper level, private loft that is just beautiful! This area is perfect for family events, birthday parties, etc! Our two servers were very attentive and kind, going that extra mile to make things just perfect. The most important aspect of a well deserved five star is their food! Everyone loved the appetizers so much that we ordered a second round! We chose their incredibly unique and tasty chicken wings, their crispy calamari and their breaded cauliflower. For our dinner selection we choose filets, which were cooked perfectly with a well chosen variety of medium rare to well done options. The salmon was also cooked perfectly, very moist and tasty. The salad and green beans were amazing as well as the red potatoes. They also make a killer Blood Mary that is a must try! I highly recommend The Meeting House for a special event, a night out or a Sunday Brunch. You will not be disappointed!!!
Absolutely AMAZING food. It was a little bit more expensive than I thought it would be ($25-$30/entree) but definitely worth it in the end. They have an amazing selection of wine, 4-5 craft beers on tap, and so many cleverly named mixed drinks. It has that perfect mix of upscale without being snobby and laid back without being too Friday night bar life. Perfect place to impress a date or celebrate an anniversary!
I often take my friends to this restaurant with my warmest recommendations. I go their often. I get very good feedback from my friends. The meals are yummy and the team is welcoming and cooperative. Every time we eat in this place we have a cheerful evening. I warmly recommend this restaurant.
This is my favorite place in the world to get a drink. it is fun to sit at the bar and watch them make the drinks, because its like a little science lab with all the little concoctions that they have on the counter. People talk about the drinks that they have ordered, and you make new friends. The bartenders can ask you what you like as a flavor, and come up with a whole new concoction for you. It is a great place, I recommend it.
We are there on 12-12-19, The absolute worse dinner we have EVER had. I ordered the steak medallions, they were burnt to a crisp. Not exaggerating, it was like eating charcoal. I explained to the waiter I would like no pink but not burnt, he suggested well done. Hmmm.. my husband had the ribs ALSO burnt. We should of complained but didnt. But I will tell everyine Do Not go there! I do not know how this place gets 5 or even 4 stars. The waiter was nice. But the Chef ( cook) needs to learn how to cook!! Plus the portion size were small ( 3 medallions) and 3 pieces of asparagus ( stalks, no tips) . Bad experience all the way around.
Just attended a meeting in their nice upper room for groups. Great food, particularly the beef and the pasta. The servers were attentive and professional, keeping drinks full and plates cleared even during presentation. Thank you for a nice location and service that made the training a nice experience.
Went Sunday before Christmas. Took my family. There were six of us. One hour wait. We sat there for fifteen minutes before greeted by server. Cold soup started our experience. Asked if we wanted bread. No bread. My daughter ordered sword fish. Was cold sent it back. Came back like shoe leather. I ordered lamb shank came cold. I sent it back - they microwaved it. They took two dinners off our bill and it was still over $200.00! Never again.
I see that this was listed as Modern Canadian and were not sure sure what this means. If it means that the staff is ultra nice and friendly. They recommend the best drinks and are very informed in mixology. This is the place! Connor, our bartender, is a very cool cat who knows what people want to drink just by looking at them. I suggest everything in the menu, as the food is so good. Come for some fun and leave with new friends.
This is an upscale restaurant has got a wonderful ambiance and environment.I would recommend to go for Date nights or a Family getogether. It is expensive and quantity is less. Good to Try Chicken wings, steamed dumplings and Cauliflower Fried riceThe service were really good did take less time.
Wow! Just happened to stop in here because it seemed so welcoming. Im so glad we did! The flavor combinations were comfort food on an upscale level. Jason recommended a wine for us, which perfectly complemented the meal. The service was absolutely perfect. And dessert? Homemade ice cream? Who does that?! Cant wait to dine here again.
The Meeting House looks to be a highly-desired spot to be at in the highly-sought out town of Rochester. The decor, upon walking in, is impeccable. Very modern and welcoming. The menu offers many different options. I ordered the Challah French Toast with a biscuit (with gravy) on the side. All was standard, but good. The biscuit was a bit chalky and dry, however. We also found out, upon leaving, that the hostess was offering tables on the rooftop that we didnt know existed until hearing it on our way out. So, we were disappointed as we stepped out.Our service was great. The food came out at the expected pace. Everything was clean. The Meeting House, for brunch at least, will probably be everyones back up if Rochester Brunch House has a long wait.
Busy busy! Went on a Friday night about 630, we sat & had a drink at the bar while we we awaited a table. It only took about 25 minutes, not to bad for downtown Rochester on a Friday! They offer some unique cocktails, the lucky buck was delish! We only had appetizers, the guac, cauliflower, & dumplings, and all were tasty. I did feel as though the waitress was rushing us to finish & go.
Just okay, IMHO...Got the guacamole app and it needed seasoning. For our entres, I got the swordfish special and it was a bit salty... My wife got the short rib and it was tender but very under seasoned. We left feeling unsatisfied. Pretty disappointing for the price and considering the good reviews
Best place in downtown Rochester. The wings are not only amazing but a steal at 8 bucks for a hefty plate of deliciousness. I had the Shrimp and Grits which were so flavorful and had huge chunks of crispy pork belly with it. My buddy had the ribs which he loved. I had a rib too and it was very good.
Great place! Sat at the bar and was taken care of by Derrick. 1st bartender was getting off shift and introduced himself( started with a C) and then extolled the virtues of his replacement. Probably why I couldnt remember his name. Drinks were great. One was a cucumber infused concoction and the other a nice spicy bloody mary . Ordered calamari and my date who does not eat seafood finished 1/2 the plate of food. So yeah, it was good! Highly recommend it
The place is pretty cool located in main street, it has this European chill vibe. The food is ok, i think they try to be more pretencious than they should the flavours were not very special and some of them were not very well matched. If youre not a foodie and you want to have some cool drinks this is the perfect place for you. Good for dates and small groups of friends. Service is quick and friendly
As one of the many food choices in the Rochester Michigan downtown section, The Meeting House is a very good option. Bistro style environment coupled with a small but interesting menu invites the diners to a comfortable dining experience. The wait and dining support staff gave exceptional service.Give it a try. I am positive that You will not regret your choice of The Meeting House.
Every place i have ever been it depends on the day the time and for eateries and fine dining on Main street whats going on in town. I would say they need a better place for patrons to wait then the bar. The food is expensive . This was my first time. The service was great. I had the ribs. I like the mac an cheese the broccoli cole slaw not so much. Parking can be a problem its not free . The parking across the street is better. the noise level is very uncomfortable. i probably wont eat there again because of that. we have many many fine restaurants where i live. they come and go on main street since time immemorial.
Our entrees were not good. I had trout which likely was in the heat lamp waiting for delivery to our table. It was dry and folded on itself. Unacceptable presentation. I asked for extra veggie instead of rice but only got standard veggie serving. My spouse’s chicken was undercooked, we were told it was the brining. It was pink and chewy. You decide who is correct. I have been cooking chicken for forty years and eaten chicken for longer.
Service by Amy was excellent! Thank you Amy!However, they did not remove the thin membrane under the ribs on the House Smoked Ribs, so they where difficult to eat. They are not the best ribs in town.I tried to talk to the Head Cook on 8/24/19 in order to suggest that improvement to the preparation process. However, he was too busy to speak to me, his Customer.
Excellent spot. Food is great. Drinks are solid. Kind of difficult to get a drink at the bar if you are a boring white dude and there happen to be 5 cougars that just walked in drunk on Rosé and Alimony checks. Bartenders focus on the ladies man. Anyway, waitress was great. Appetizers were awesome. Entree was great. Will go again.
Yesterday was not the day to have lunch at The Meeting House. The wait staff seemed more interested in visiting with each other than taking care of the customers. When a cocktail arrived in a dirty glass, our waitress was very apologetic and quickly went to rectify the problem. However, pouring the drink from a dirty glass to a clean glass does not constitute correcting the problem. She seemed surprised that we asked for a fresh cocktail. She was quick to point out that she didnt pour from the side of the glass that had the lipstick on it. Seriously? There were other items that occurred so after our meal, my friend talked to the manager about out experience. We went outside and while sitting and chatting, our waitress came out and flung the tip at my friend and told her that she was obviously not deserving of it.Wow! Very unprofessional!
Always great service, unique cocktails and new specials daily. We never get tired of eating here! The Don Draper is an amazing take on an old fashioned which I cant help but get everytime I come here. They are also very accommodating for dietary restrictions and have a wide variety on the menu.
Atmosphere is great. Location is great. Service and Parking is even great. But brealfast is just ok. Theres some good options but theyre definitely overpiced for what they are and the portions are lack luster. If you want to take a cute instagram photo of your cute meal in a cute place, this is the spot. If youre actually hungry, go elsewhere.
A must stop in Rochester Hills. Not sure which was more fun to try, the food and their mixology drinks were fabulous.Stopped in for a quick bite but stayed longer since everything was so good. Not cheap but worth every penny.Definitely a place you want to go to impress!
We shared the mussels for appetizers - fantastic, so tastey in light cream sauce. Blueberry and avocado salad (small) was just right for a light supper. Service was prompt and responsive. The only draw back for me was noise. As one with slight hearing loss, the music plus loud voices and restaurant sounds prevented me from hearing my friends. It got louder during our dinner. Kind of expensive, high quality.
The lobster linguini was very bland tasting and the pasta noodles had wadded together into a single mass by the time I got it. The staff was winning to replace it (so the service was good) I just wanted to pay and leave because of a super loud and annoying birthday party that happened to be there.
This venue is very nice and well set up with a large bar area and restrooms. We had a shower for approximately 50 people and it was the perfect size with room for gift, dessert, and prize tables. The food was tasty, hot and displayed nicely. What made this event over the top was the staff. They were very organized, friendly and helpful in every way from start to finish. They even helped unload and then load up our cars. They passed beverages and kept tables cleared. Couldnt have asked for more. Thanks to Mike and Michelle for making this a huge success!
The food is exceptional - we have been here three times. Each time the food hasbeen extremely good, BUT, each time the noise level has been greater and greater. This last time, there were four of us and we could not hear each other talk. This time, we did not stay for dessert as our ears were actually in pain from the shouting of the patrons trying to hear each other. Although it is probably the best restaurant in Rochester, we probably wont return. Who wants to yell when trying to enjoy a good meal?
Best food, atmosphere, value and service combination in Rochester. Ask to meet the manager Joel. Super nice person and makes the experience even more welcoming. Burger with an egg is off the menu and fantastic. Been our date night and “you’ve never been to Rochester” go to spot since it opened.
The food was good, prices fair. The problem I have is with the management. We were there twice last week. The first night we ended up walking out. We returned the next night and endured a needless wait. We witnessed at least twenty people told there would be a 45-60 minute wait...they left! The extended waits were due largely to four-top tables being under utilized. On both nights we observed couples seated at a four top tables that could have easily been pulled apart to seat additional patrons. There was ample space. This is case of poor management and lost revenue. The place has a good vibe and our young server was excellent. Hopefully management will get it together. I would hate to see The Meeting House fail due to poor management.
I live in Chicago and go to Rochester to visit my Mother. We happened onto the Meeting place a few months ago and have been coming back on a regular basis. Our server Derrick is a gem!! Great guy very knowledgeable creating a wonderful dining experience! The decor is understated and contemporary, there is a great variety of food choices depending on ones appetite. I highly recommend the Meeting House!
Very good place to come after a long grueling day at work, when you just need to get out and go somewhere where everybody knows your name. They have an overly friendly staff that pays very close attention and would never make you wait. The food is just as excellent and the wait service. I have to give this place a 5 out of 5. Absolutely outstanding place to eat, a must see.
Good food and decent staff, but too long of wait times. 40+ minutes. Not worth the wait. We had our table given away multiple times after we were supposedly the next in line. Theres tons of other places with a high quality menu that probably have a better seating system in place.
Ok so this is an SOS shoutout for the owner because they desperately need to SWITCH THINGS UP. My husband and I moved to Rochester from the San Francisco Bay Area in the winter of 2018. We fell in love with The Meeting House because it reminded us of the good farm to table options we have in California. But here we are, summer of 2019, 1.5 years later... and the menu HAS BARELY CHANGED. The guacamole is basic. The chicken wings have no flavor. The deviled eggs are not free range and not fresh. And Im tired of every nights special being some variation of scallops or some overpriced white fish fried in panko crumbs. Its summer in Michigan! The ingredients out there are bountiful, flavorful, and fresh. Switch up your menu to reflect that! Beef with potatoes and mushrooms is for winter. Why is it still on your menu? Please make your menu season (as a true farm to table restaurant would), or my husband and I will cease to frequent your restaurant.
I ate here a few times before and was usually happy with the food but my recent visit was disappointing! I gladly pay more for a good quality meal but it was almost ridiculous how small the portion was on my plate for the price!I know theyre servings are on the smaller side and I dont mind but it seemed like a rip off especially since it wasnt that tasty either!
Rochester has a number of good restaurants but this one definitely stands out. I have been to this restaurant probably 20 times and I only remember having a meal that was less than perfect twice. Honestly, cooks are people too and make mistakes, but this place makes very few. And while a dinner for two with appetizer, main course, alcoholic drinks, and dessert may cost up to $80 - $100, i would say it is worth the quality you receive at the Meeting House. The menu has a great variety of intriguing yet comforting food selections. Every dish is well balanced as it incorporates a number of different flavors and textures into overall delicious meal. If you like mixed drinks, they usually have a variety of old favorites and avant-garde items to choose from.I will admit, it does get a little loud in there during peak dinner hours. If you still want great food and avoid the noise, try the saturday and sunday brunch (prices are a little better too). If you want something special in Rochester, this is one of a handful of places to choose from.
The food is great, the bartenders are great, the service is great, BUT the noise volume is TERRIBLE. Especially seated by the mirrors. Totally ruined my (expensive at $32 Tuna) dinner. They desperately need acoustic deadening. I was there at 5:45 PM and it was about half full and I could not hear the waitress speak. Niether could my date. We do NOT have hearing issues whatsoever. I told the waitress I cant hear her and she agreed that is always very loud in there and she said you usually sits down when taking orders. SO thats what she did, she sat next to my date so we could hear her. The mirrors cause so much echo I could hear the lady seated next me perfectly though. DO NOT sit at those seats. I will go there again, but only if I can sit in the window or at the bar. It is that bad. After eating we went into an absolutely packed elbow to elbow Cabin Cruisers (the bar at Rochester Chop House) and it was much quieter than The Meeting House. I-75 at 80 mph is quieter...I spoke to a few managers/owners of other narrow low ceiling Rochester establishments and they had to put sound deadening up for similar reasons- Meeting House management please do so!
The moment we walked in we were greeted warmly! Been here a couple of times and I can honestly suggest the garlic, truffle wing dings yummy! Lobster eggs Benny was very nicely presented and good flavour altho it needed a touch of salt to wake the dish up! For a brunch drink their The Kick is an awesome choice nicely peppery with a kick order the extra skewer well worth it! For a bit of greens their roasted veggie salad with white balsamic vinegrette dressing cant go wrong their lol to make one feel their eating healthy Enjoy and experience it all!
Been here 3 times and now I feel like i can make an educated review on this establishment. First time: Great service and food was ok. Had the corned beef hash- light on the corned beef and heavy on the new potatoes. Also had the giant biscuit and gravy that was not enough gravy to bread ratio and not crazy about sweet sausage. Second time: Great service she was very attentive. Had the shrimp & lobster benedict- Amazing perfectly poached egg and hollandaise sauce. Third visit: Had the cheesy grits that need lot more cheese. Had the fried egg sandwich with pork belly. The pork belly was alot more chewy then I would like on sandwich. Wife ordered the benedict she liked it but said the sauce was weak.
Crowded, overpriced, and too trendy for my tastes. When the menu offers sauteed brusselsprouts, that should tell you everything you need to know.I met some friends here the other night. No parking, over an hour wait for a table, limited and expensive menu, and the food that did come out was mediocre at best.Definitely not my scene.
Celebrated a double baby shower. Service was bad. Our server was being pulled in 2 directions, tending to the restaurant downstairs while also trying to tend to our party upstairs. Items went missing from the (out of order) bathroom. That pissed me off the most. We used that bathroom to put our belongings in, since there wasnt a dedicated area for that. They stole from me, plain and simple.
Good, always good. Altough recently we had a small brunch event, and we were informed at the time of iur arrival that we only had 2 hrs.We were a group of 13 and were celebrating a baptism. We would have preferes to discuss this timing situstion upfront. This made us feel under pressure and constantly looking and asking for the time. So is uncomfortable. At the end we toom 2.20 hrs. And nothing happened. But if there is a time for groups should be discussed way before the event or st reservation. Also 2 hrs for big groups is really really tight.Besides this hiccup this is always always a good place for food and drinks. Staff is really nice.Hope i never get dissapointed cause i like going there.
My boyfriend was a little apprehensive about coming here, because he’s mostly a pizza and burgers type guy. So looking at this menu to him is like trying to read an unknown language. But I ordered for him, the Beef tenderloin medallions. He loved it, and he liked my duck I ordered, as well. Talked about both all the way home! The only thing we had a “problem” with was the s’mores dessert. There was a little too much marshmallow and the brownie was really dry. It wasn’t even moist enough to pass for a thick brownie. Idk I guess I was kind of hoping for like a mini lava cake type deal. Soft and gooey on the inside, with the marshmallow. That would be more like an actual s’mores since the chocolate is suppose to be melted anyways. Also, this is NOT a quiet setting like we thought it’d be, where we could talk at normal volume. It got to be quite noisy after we walked in. Its also just a causal dress place. So just show up in jeans. Made the mistake of that too. If my boyfriend wasn’t dropping me compliments nonstop, I would’ve felt like I wasted a nice outfit.
We normally love this place, but one menu item deserves mention - Sauteed Salmon Milanese. The menu mentions charred lemon Hollandaise & salsa verde. What you get is a thin breaded piece of salmon on a bed of Hollandaise with a strange concoction on top consisting of green olives, grapes, capers, cucumbers, etc. if memory serves. Hardly salsa verde and not at all appetizing. Avoid this dish and youll be happy with your meal.

2021-12-08Great service. Good atmosphere.Food here was expensive and not great.Fries were burnt and overly salty- some of the worst Ive ever had. Bread brought to table without anything to dip or spread on it. Burger is very much so McDonalds double cheeseburger taste and style. The overnight braised beef short rib was great! A bit of a disappointment altogether.

2022-02-05Wow! Great atmosphere. Trevor was our bartender and he was amazing. Great craftsmanship on the drinks and he had superb suggestions. My wife is gluten free and they had a dedicated fryer so that made it a destination for us now.

2022-06-04Joel behind the bar is always smiling, very attentive, and super freaking nice! I have only been here twice and it was a pleasure having him as a server each time! Thank you so much for your hard work and for being you, Joel! (Also, get the pretzel with goat cheese... TO DIE FOR!)

2021-08-05The calamari here is excellent. They are properly seasoned with a wonderful sauce to accompany them. I also had the burger which was excellent. I enjoy a burger with 2 thinner patties than 1 thick patty sometimes and thats what you get. Fries were exceptional!

2022-05-08I wish I had better things to say about this restaurant. I can say the staff was awesome. They are friendly and want to create a great atmosphere. They were very accommodating with our business meeting and moving us to a more private space. The drinks were great. The appetizers were delish! The cauliflower, calamari and taco were fantastic. I cannot say as much for the entrees sadly. The best thing about the fried chicken was the gravy. The breading was ridiculously thick and over fried so hard it was difficult to eat. I could go on but I will say simply, no one was thrilled with their dinner and we had many unfinished meals. Everyone agreed we should have stayed with the small plate appetizers mainly and we would have been much happier overall. Stick with appetizers and drinks, youll have a great time!

2022-06-28Went on a Sunday for brunch, it was very good. The roof top patio was perfect. Has plenty of room with umbrellas for shade.

2021-12-09I have had the salmon and the pork. The salmon with the maple glazed was amazing, but the pork was very dry. The service was wonderful and the atmosphere was very lively for a Thursday night. Would recommend, especially the salmon!

2022-02-16Great food! They’re not as sweet to us common proles though! Color scheme is wanting. My boyfriend doesn’t like the chicken but he is SUPER picky, plus I’ve seen him absolutely go to town on a cantaloupe hunched over my kitchen sink, like a neanderthal. Foods good here. yeah

2022-06-23From my perspective, Ive learned this is not my type of place. I wish I had known that before dropping so much money on dinner and 2 drinks. The pros...Pretzel appetizer was decentThere wasnt a wait timeCauliflower dishThe consTHE NOISE level. I couldnt even hear my husband who was a foot a way from me. The angles of the mirrors must amplify but it was so obnoxiously loud.Spending $42 on a cold steak, cold fries and wilted spinach. The drinks took 45 minutes to get to us.The wait staff was nice BUT they were not attentive they only paid attention to you if they had something to deliver. Maybe they were low on staff or something (thats why I stated my perspective)It was all around annoying experience. You only go there to be seen, not to enjoy the food or the drinks (if you ever get them). Im confused of all the positive reviews but its probably the chic Rochester folks....
