Great place to stay! The room is a perfect size for a couple. My boyfriend and I stayed three nights, and weren’t bother at all. It’s a straight 30 minute drive to Mackinaw City. There’s also a nice little beach right down the road that they told us about which was nice! Very quiet and relaxing :)

Great service, clean and updated rooms, affordable prices, down to earth family owner, very near just a hop skip and a jump to Mackinac! First time being here with my husband and we both loved it very much! We are planing on coming back next summer again and we cannot wait. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking a great time on their vacation/gateway.
The inn keeper was the nicest lady I ever met for starts!! The room was more up to code and cleaner thanmost nice hotels Ive stayed in. It was a very peaceful retreat and I am very thankful for this beautiful establishment.
What an amazing and cozy little place to stay at. We planned a last minute get away to go fishing and we were not disappointed at all. The price was right, the service was outstanding and so friendly, and wow the room was sooo cute! We are already taking about our next trip up to stay at this amazing little get away. Lovely little motel! Linda was very friendly and helpful when we were checking in. The room was very clean and cozy and came with a mini fridge and microwave. Great water pressure and a nice little bathroom. Motel is close to downtown and biking trails.
Great local Motel. Very clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. Joe and Linda are awesome hosts. Great with last minute bookings as our ferry was delayed due to weather. Our rooms had mini fridge, microwave and a 4 cup coffee maker to help get our cool crisp morning started. Worried about your morning breakfast?? Not to worry, just call over to Alices for a breakfast to go. Another little feature in our mini suite was that you could access the bathroom from each bedroom without disturbing the other bedroom. Great place guys, we will be back.
The Monarch is my favorite place to stay in Cheyboygan! It is very clean and each room has its own special flair. The owner, Linda is very nice and easy to communicate with. She makes sure each detail is attended to. The rooms are cozy and like I said earlier, very clean. The Monarch will continue to be my go to place when in the Cheyboygan area!!!
I recently moved to Cheboygan from Houston,Texas and was surprised by the lack of housing in the area. Fortunately I came across the Monarch Motel that did weekly and monthly rentals and they were kind enough to allow my 2 big dogs a stay, wihout extra charge like most big motels do. The rooms are very quaint and comfortable with lovely decor as well as the beds. Linda and Joe made my 3 month stay very easy and they are very accommodating, especially with my having had my 2 dogs with me the entire time. The people who stay at the Monarch are just as sweet as the owners and made me and my pups feel very welcomed. You wont find that in the big chain hotels! I will definitely stay at the Monarch Motel in the future if need be and I highly recommend this place for your stay too.
This was a lovely motel and Linda was great. The room was perfect and the decor was so cute. I know this is going to sound strange but the ice machine and it’s location was phenomenal! The only downfall was that I couldn’t have my window open because of the smokers next to me. I’ll definitely stay here again. 😁

So happy we picked this Motel for our one night stay in Cheboygan. The room was very clean and nicely renovated. What an amazing and cozy little place to stay at. The price was right, the service was outstanding and so friendly, and wow the room was sooo cute! The two queen beds had a wall in between them for privacy if you are traveling with a friend. I Highly recommend trying them out. It was very clean and well stocked.Linda was so sweet and gave us a list of things to do in Cheboygan!She also gave us a coupon for the Ferry.Sunday morning, she invited us to attend her church Live Worship Center in Cheboygan, and told us exactly how to get there.
I give this welcoming motel a lucky 5 stars. The rooms were clean, the staff was amazingly friendly, good wifi connection, and this isnt your average motel. The rooms are very home-like. The staff cares about your needs and dont put up with any bs! If you are lucky enough to find yourself in the great town of Cheboygan MI this is where you should stay. I know where Im staying next time I come!
My wife and I visited Cheboygan this weekend for a family trip and were very impressed by this motel! The rooms are very clean and nicely decorated. The owners are friendly and helpful. We walked around town a little bit and there are a lot of nice little shops. This is an excellent place to come visit and have things to do. Would definitely stay here again!

We absolutely love coming here. It is far and away our most cost-efficient place to lay our heads when the family gets to go on vacation once a year. It’s just a quick drive to Mackinac City and all the shops it has to offer. Our neighbors at the hotel have always been friendly and eager to talk to us. It’s such a blessing to have a hotel remember us when we stop into town and my oldest daughter accidentally left her wallet in the bedroom; they called us immediately and we were still in town to come back to the office to get it. They are absolutely wonderful. The only reason I wouldn’t recommend getting a room here is because it might stop me from getting one. Wonderful people and wonderful place!
First time staying! Three of us really enjoyed staying, room was really clean, owners are always available and are really helpful and nice. They gave us local information helped us with areas to visit and places to see. Highly recommend anyone to stay here. Great pricing, well worth it in a perfect vacation area. Small motel close to town. Very clean. Simple, comfy bed, cute decor, fridge and microwave. A cute fat kitty to greet you in the parking lot. Owners are so accommodating and easy to chat with. Thanks for the hospitality!

Linda, the owner, is fantastic! She makes you comfortable and right at home the minute you step in the lobby! She showed me different rooms and let me choose my room. I was traveling alone and stopped there on the way to Mackinaw, so I didnt need anything fancy. The room was clean and bed was very comfortable. The motel is also a mile from downtown and about that same distance from the beach, easy to get to whether you are walking or driving. I will definitely recommend this motel to anyone traveling and wanting to save some money!

This place is clean, comfortable and close to many types of dining. We stayed here because we catch the Ferry to Bois Blanc; therefore, we are able to rest after our trip from down state.
I travel the country from coast to coast for work and see all types of hotels and motels. But every time I’m in Michigan I stay at the Monarch Motel. It’s a hidden gem. The owners Linda and Joe are two of the nicest people you’ll come across in your travels. Their children and grandchildren are even involved in the business. The rooms are priced great, great selection of channels on the TV and always super clean when I stay. Just a short jaunt down to the beach and a very quick drive to the ferries at Mackinaw City. Can’t wait to book a trip up and stay at the Monarch again!

My partner and I have been staying here since February 2nd of 2019. That being said, in spite of doing as I would (almost always) typically do otherwise..I cant help but to feel far beyond the point of compelled, whenever the thought of expressing my now neverending feelings of extreme gratitude and appreciation toward the owners of this friendly, caring and comforting establishment, which is run so brilliantly by the hard-working, people-loving duo Joe and Laura Greene.Joe and Linda always go out of their way, and/or do whatever is possible to help EVERY one of their customers who approaches them with a concern, idea or request. They are also extremely patient and understanding to everyone at first, and will most definitely continue to go out of their way(s) for their customers to no end- PROVIDED those customers follow through with the very understandable, minor requests they make sure to notify everyone who becomes a customer to them.I feel like Ive already said way too much- and yet, not nearly enough. The fact is, if I were to continue doling out the superb characteristics of the owners if the Monarch Motel Business, I can guarantee that I STILL wouldnt feel as if I were even close to doing them the justice they very much deserve. There just arent enough words to live up to how fantastic either of them are, as both wonderful people in general, and hardworking & very skillful business owners.

We stayed at the Monarch Motel on July 10th and 11th. We travel quite a lot and have stayed in many hotels and motels that were not very clean. The Monarch was VERY clean. Our bed was very comfotable! It was a cozy, adorably decorated room and we parked right in front of our room.

Loved the history of the location.Cute rooms with so many great touches that you wont find at a chain hotels.Not far from downtown or any and amenities.The owner set up us an extra cot for our son. It was the last room and only a single bed.A great location to stay!

Completely forget to add a review from our late March trip to the area to help our Friends move up. We loved this motel, our room was recently renovated and was very clean. The Hosts were wonderful people and very accommodating. We will certainly be staying again when we come to visit!
Our room was decorated nicely. Everthing matched including the shower curtian :) Owner was friendly and made sure our a/c was on before we got there, because we came up on one of their hottest days so far. She even went over and above to make sure everyone was happy. The price was also great for a 2 room suite.

Stayed at The Monarch last night. Mackinac bridge was closed due to falling ice and all the rooms in the area were full of other stranded motorists as well. Stopped by the Monarch Motel and met the new owners. They just renovated the rooms and were not officially open for business but they were nice enough to let us stay the night or we would have had to stay in our car and it was below 30 degrees. The property is very nice, clean and the rooms have new beds, satellite television, a microwave and small refrigerator. Nice and warm place to lay our heads down and so very thankful to Joe and Linda. Best wishes!
This place is an amazing family owned business with extremely friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were very clean and updated with satellite tv, fridges and microwaves. Beds were soft and comfortable. This is a quaint little gem of a place. It is small, tiny, compact at the same time very comfortable. Breakfast, lunch and dinner places are nearby and its such a safe place to be. The owner does a fantastic job of keeping this place nice and good. I just stayed for one day and will definitely come back again.,

The monarch motel is a great stay! The rooms are coozy and well kept and have a very comfortable home away from home feel, and the t.v. entertainment options are awsome. The staff has been warm and personable right from the start and more then willing to help with any questions i had about the area or community. As a state-to-state contractor im traveling on a monthly basis, meaning im in and out of hotels. Out of all the places ive stayed throughout the country, the time i spent at monarch hotel i felt was one of the most comfortable. i stayed just under three weeks during the covid-19 outbreak. They were more than understanding to my situation, They made my stay as comfortable as they could. And helped me in any way they could. They treated me like I was part of there family, like I was right at home. In my opinion its probably one of the better places you will stay for the best place in northernmost part of Michigan (Cheboygan area).

Stayed two nights in room 9. Owner was super sweet, very nice and more than accommodating! Super cute room! Love the vibes and decorations! Really awesome motel for the price. Only issue we had was I showered and dried off with the towels provided in the room. And I was covered in black cat hair. I had to shower again.. that was pretty gross. And then we apparently had a little hole in the screen and literally 100-200 bugs got in.. three times. Spent a good hour killing bugs. I recommend putting a switch for the outside lights. I’ve never seen so many bugs in my life. But overall was a pretty good stay!
Very nicely remodeled, comfortable and clean! Only concern No Fire/Smoke detectors in the room.

2022-01-03Our visit was a little different than most I’m sure. During the Great Windstorm of December 2021, we lost power at our home for two days. We had no water either because pump is powered by electricity. So in desperate need of showers and charging our phones, we decided to check in. The couple who own this were very friendly. Told us they bought the place several years ago and are in the process of remodeling the rooms. Luckily, we stayed in one of them. It was adorable! Everything was new and clean and decorated very nice. The bathroom was spacious and up to date. Our showers were just what we needed! We didn’t spend the night because we had dogs at home. And we didn’t get “the look” when we told them we only needed the room for a few hours 😂😂. If you plan on staying here, I highly recommend Room 6. It was a short stay but well worth it.

2021-09-07This is our go-to motel for our annual Labor Day visit to Michigan. We have been staying here for the past three years. Every time the rooms have been meticulously clean and service has always been prompt and friendly. Its a nice little place to stay that gets you away from the crowds of Mackinaw City yet it is close enough for a quick trip into the city. The owners are always available to offer up advice for restaurants and shops that are smaller and independently owned and that are off the beaten path as well as things to do in the area in the area. They realize and value the importance of return customers and are always happy to see returning customers and they treat you as such. The rooms are quaint and updated. We get the two room suite which comes with a flat screen TV a refrigerator microwave and coffee maker. The motel is located within a short distance of Yecks drive up which has very good food. There are also many other locally owned restaurants nearby. The motel is also located right off of the Northeastern State bike trail. We never leave without making our reservation for the upcoming year. We love supporting this small business.

2021-07-26This was a really nice mom and pop motel. Very clean and my wife said the owner was very nice. I love how close it is to downtown and to Mackinaw city. The microwave and mini fridge was a huge plus. The two things I didnt care for was how small the shower was and the fact the air conditioner was in the second room. So you had to freeze out that room to cool down the main room. Other then that it was a very nice place and would definitely be back.

2021-10-01What a lovely little place to stay! I was in Cheboygan for a friend’s wedding, which took place at several camp grounds over a few days. As I’m not that outdoorsy, I wanted to stay in a hotel that was somewhere in between, and the Monarch Motel was perfect. It’s conveniently located between all sorts of sightseeing locations and small-town shopping. It was a safe and cozy place to consider a home base.The service was excellent - I had called a few other motels and wasn’t too impressed with their phone etiquette (some places were RUDE), but the Monarch offered instant warmth and friendly conversation. They were graciously accommodating to my needs as I worked out a few kinks in the plans.I stayed in The Lighthouse Room. So quaint! Perfect north Michigan aesthetic. For the price, I was quite pleased. A lil’ fridge, microwave, a blessed AC unit on those 90* days - all of the essential amenities. Only reason I put 4 instead of 5 stars on the room is because, well, it’s not a luxury experience, but who needs that anyway?TL;DR summary:- Convenient location for a Northern Michigan adventure- Quaint & Safe & Affordable- Linda is an incredible womanIf you got this far, thanks for reading! I obviously recommend it.

2021-07-09The room was extremely clean, tasteful, and colorfully decorated in a cheerful beach theme. The quality of the bedding excellent. Also the shower was refreshing, spacious, updated and the shower head pressure very effective. There is also a mini fridge with a freezer, coffee maker and microwave. I felt very safe and secure, with privacy curtains covering the windows completely. The owner Linda was very professional, welcoming, generous and friendly. She even gave me some flavored coffee cream for the morning. My favorite experience staying here was meeting her friendly orange and white cat, who roams the property making friends with everybody. I always looked forward to seeing him upon returning from my outings. I highly recommend The Monarch Motel, and plan to stay there again when my travels take me to Cheboygen, Michigan.

2021-09-17My girlfriend and I stayed two nights at the Monarch Motel the 2nd weekend of August. We had been in a bind for finding a hotel room and were intrigued by this hotel. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating in getting us and room reserved. We were very pleased how nice and cozy our room was. The rooms are not the biggest but, it was perfect for us. The bathroom and shower was very nice as well. Im positive that we will go back they next time we are in the Cheboygan, MI area. The hosts were very nice and we look forward to the next time we talk with them to reserve a room.

2021-09-11I called last minute looking for a room on a busy holiday weekend. Linda was so kind and helpful over the phone and had a last-minute cancellation that we swooped up. It was a quick overnight trip and it was exactly what we needed. The accommodations are modest but clean and the price was wonderful when every other location had doubled and tripled their prices. Linda was an incredibly accommodating and friendly host and I would definitely recommend this as a place to stay.
