After being a flight attendant for 16 years, I can tell you that I have stayed in every type of hotel out there. This hotel ranks low in my opinion. It is very out dated and the beds are probably the worst I’ve slept in. We have two queen beds that sag in the middle so all night long we kept rolling into each other. So if you want a good night sleep, I would not recommend. Also, the smell of skunk weed permeated throughout the halls of the second floor. On a positive note, the staff was kind and accommodating. The place was clean and they have a great indoor outdoor pool.
Everything I asked for, the staff delivered. Just a note because of COVID, do not attempt to check in before the standard check in time of 4pm. They are taking extra time to clean rooms!! Other than that, I had a quiet room and the pools and hot tub were great!! Will stay there again definitely!!
This is a 2-star hotel. The halls reeked of weed. The crown molding was coming off in the hallway of the second floor. The bathrooms are ridiculously small and the room is just whatever. The pool and the other amenities look nice on the website but the area is not the best looking and the hotel was just ok. Service was nice but honestly would not stay again.
Positive: The bed was comfortable. Negative: The hotel was very dirty and they evidently had some water leakage issues. I noticed several buckets in the hallways but then the carpet in my room was wet. In some areas it was soaking wet and ruined the socks I was wearing. I was pretty grossed out.
The building has a lot of water damage and the two rooms I was in had mold and rust in the bathrooms. The air conditioner leaked water onto a large puddle on the carpet and made the room smell mildewy. The pool was nice but pretty dirty. Staff was friendly. I got the room for about $100 for the night. The location has a lot of options for food.
First of all when I checked in the hotel, I walked into the room and it wreaked of mold and smoke in the room. I went down to the front desk and they did change my room for me asap. I walked in the second room and it smelled worse. We decided to stay here just because it was for 1 night.Later when we got back in after dinner, we rolled the covers back to go to sleep and the sheets were dirty. Looked like it was soiled pee stained sheets. We called front desk and they did bring up a change of sheets. Then they were the wrong size. By that time we turned on the tv and the remote didn’t work. Called front desk again and they brought us new sheets with a new remote. It’s 1:26am.Worse experience I’ve ever had at a hotelEVER !
The pictures online are very deceiving. The pool is great, but thats it. The hotel is really out dated and the air conditioning in the rooms is not very cool. There is no complimentary breakfast, even though it says there is. The bathroom is very small and not cleaned very well.
I have never given a one star rating due to the lack of Accessibility...until now!We checked in to a handicap-accessible room on the second floor. The elevator was small for a wheelchair, and inaccessible for a mobility scooter. The door to the bathroom was wide enough, but not the door to get into the room! The room was too small to turn or maneuver a wheelchair around. There was also a cord that was covered with tape going across the floor. A speed bump, perhaps? The handicap parking was no where near the lobby, which was the only entrance, due to Covid. The parking spots close to the lobby were reserved for the restaurant inside. If you have any physical challenges, please consider another hotel!♿ Accessibility Features:Ramp access = YesWheelchair-accessible Entrance = Automatic door to the lobbyWheelchair-accessible Restroom = YesWheelchair-accessible Seating = NoWheelchair-accessible Parking = Not close enough to the entranceElevators Available = Not big enough for a mobility scooter
We booked a king room and when we checked in they gave us a queen. They said there was nothing they could do so we went with that.Got to the room and the chair was demolished. There was glitter everywhere and sticky stuff all over the floor. The room looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. There were no curtains on the windows. It was too late to go anywhere else else unfortunately. We went to the desk and they refused to do anything. When we left this morning the hallway walls were filthy, the glitter that was on our floor was all over the floors of the hotel like they’re running a brothel. The pool looks nice in the pictures but it too is disgusting. The windows are all covered in a film and the pool area is filthy.Overall Grossest hotel I have ever stayed at and I have been all over the country. I never leave reviews but figured I could save someone the headache and disgust.
Positive: It was close to the expressway on the route I was traveling. Negative: We booked a room with a king bed; however we wound up with a queen bed. The carpet was very old and dirty. The hotel needs a deep cleaning and/or remodel, the walls and floors just had stains everywhere
Update****** this years conference was held here again and everything was excellent. Food was much better and staff was excellent ******Attended a recent conference held here. Fine spot for our needs. Staff Very helpful. Rooms clean and attractive. I would say the kitchen was hit or miss. The catered breakfasts were good and plentiful. The other catered meals also not bad. However the buffet lunches in the restaurant, sometimes the only option in hotel, were not great. Conference is there again next year so hope the food improves.
Positive: The price and location of the hotel were good reasons to stay here. Negative: There were really smelly areas of the hotel, the ceiling in the vending rooms were literally caving in with severe water damage, everything felt dirty and grimy everywhere and I didnt want to ever let anything touch the ground, serious updating needs don
We were charged twice by credit and once by cash. Its been a week and I still have not gotten the refund we were promised. The room was filthy, the fridge and tv were broken, and there was no microwave. This could be a beautiful hotel. Unfortunately, its not and they will scam you if given the opportunity.
At first we we’re like wow this is a nice room for cheap rates, then after looking over the room there was trash in the cabinets, the bathroom was dirty, but we didn’t say anything to them. When we were getting ready to go to bed my granddaughter who was sleeping on the pull out couch saw a roach just chillen on the curtain, then came another one. Needless to say we checked out at 3 in the morning. We cannot and will not deal with roaches. The front desk said they will let management know on Monday, something needs to be done.
After paying over $900 on a one bed room for 8 days. Money came out on the day I checked in. Checked out. My account has me negative $800. Ive never gone to a hotel and this happen. This is the worse place. They are trying falling off in quality of staff and robbing people behind secret hidden fees
This hotel is huge. Appearances are definitely deceiving. Rooms were amazing very impressed overall with the hotel. Bonus, there is a great restaurant and bar on site and the staff is absolutely beyond pleasant. Kudos to the bartender Colleen, she was a pleasure to speak with and most certainly look forward to visiting again. Rooms were very nice, and clean.
Positive: Nothing. Negative: Toilet would not flush. The toilet plumbing ran all night I heard other people complain about the same thing and staff said there was nothing they could do about it at the time. Staff gave us a room that already had somebody else in it. elevators malfun
This place was perfect for our little Vacation stay! This hotel was very clean and the staff was super friendly. Our favorite perk is that they are pet friendly. There is a pet fee, but that is to be expected when you bring your furry friends with you.We ordered room service for breakfast with a cool little door hanger. We filled out the back and hung it on the door and in the morning it was delivered at our chosen time. It was delicious! We were very happy with our stay and would gladly choose this hotel again!
Small room. No covid amenities. No mini fridge, no microwave. The room is poorly lit. The pillows are worn out. The water temp is tepid at best. An elevator is broken. The exterior doors jam. The key card is fussy. And I was accosted in the parking lot. The hotel staff is very nice. They seem trapped in a rundown facility. For a better night at 75 bucks pick a super 8.
This was a nice hotel. Clean rooms and common areas. Beds are comfortable, a little on the firm side. Hot showers. Cold AC. The only thing that was concerning was that there were signs to wear masks in common areas, however none of the employees were wearing them. I know masks are uncomfortable to wear all day, but if its asked of guests then the employees should have them on while helping guests.
I reserved a king room. When I arrived, they didnt have my room. They did have my free drink coupons, which were nice after a long day. This hotel needs a remodel. The room I got was nice, but not worth the original rate. My company gets a discount which reflected a more appropriate rate. Location was close enough to the airport, and they have a shuttle. All staff I interacted with were very accommodating. Breakfast was excellent, servers were on top of everything right away. I will definitely stay here next time Im in Grand rapids.
I cant decide between 2 and 3 stars. The staff we dealt with were friendly, including the bar/restaurant staff and the people at the front desk. The location is good (we are not out of towners). I was disappointed with the interior though. The hotel could use updating, badly. It was clean, however. The pool area was in great shape and I liked the layout. In addition, our breakfast was not included and we had to pay extra for it. It was good, but the extra cost was just unexpected.
Stayed here overnight for a weekend wedding. Staff was very friendly. We thought the rooms were very nice too. Best night sleep Ive had in a long time on the bed. Others in our group said their beds were sunk in and uncomfortable, but not our experience. Had breakfast the next morning and it was really good for a hotel breakfast. Dining area is huge and the servers were very friendly and attentive. We would stay here again.
Came here for business trip that was paid by the company. Stayed here a few days and underwhelmed is an over statement. I would not stay here again and especially would not pay money out of my pocket. It’s borderline not the cleanest, in desperate need of renovation and updating. Also there are no fridges or microwaves in the room but there is clearly space for one. Hotel food also was below average in taste.Pros: great location in terms of access to food, shopping etc but there are also better hotels i would rather spend my money on nearby. Staff was nice and no complaints there. Also, the bed was slightly above average in comfort.
I cant believe this is a 3.5 star hotel. Yes its very clean and yes the staff if pleasant. However there is no fridge and the ice machine is in a completely different wing. Also this is the worst bed Ive EVER slept in. It completely caves in the middle. My back is killing me! With the pandemic going on its not very busy here. You would think that Everyone would get the good rooms. I was looking forward to a comfy hotel bed. This his horrible! Im in serious pain and will be for days!CROWN PLAZA PLEASE UPGRADE YOUR MATTRESSES
When we arrived the lady at the front desk ran my card before telling me the total. So she took200 of incidentals with out telling me. We were placed on the third floor secluded from everybody. Every night we stayed nobody else stayed on that floor. The hallways will give you a feeling of scare in your heart. Like somebody died there. It’s boring looking and not appealing to the customer. Out dated is a better phrase. The walls have leaks , in the pool room and ceiling of hallways . The hallways didn’t smell well but the room it’s self was very clean. The staff at the front desk are not at all friendly . When you come down to buy something from the store you don’t feel like they are willing to help you. . I have stayed in many hotels and for this one to be as pricy as it is, the customer service is horrible, they need updates but the only thing good I could say was the room was very clean . Would I choose this again over any other hotel in Grand Rapids . Absolutely not.
I stay here quite often as a flight crew member. I had an early departure that morning and upon arriving to security at the airport I realized I left my AirPods in my room. I called the front desk and the wonderful guest representative went to my room and coordinated the shuttle driver to bring them back to the airport. I’ve been in similar situations before where hotel staff could have cared less. I’m so thankful for the honest and hospitable staff here. See y’all next time!
Staff is 5 stars the facility is 1 star... 3 stars it is. Everything is very dated... overall facility condition is poor. Hot tub had a scum line of grime around it. Just clearly not the priority of the owners to invest any money in this property... clearly. Too bad. So much potential and great location. Bite the bullet and sink the money into the place. I cant say enough about how nice and helpful and friendly the staff was. For their sake I hope the owners improve the facility and bring it up to its full potential.
This hotel has moderately comfortable rooms that are clean and the heating works well. The restaurant food is okay, if a little pricey.I was here for a convention, and their meeting areas were excellent. What impressed me the most, though, was their willingness and ability to accommodate the conventions needs. They provided us with everything we asked for and more without hesitation. While not the fanciest or most expensive hotel, I would definitely recommend them, especially if youre looking for somewhere to hold a conference or convention.
The 3rd floor elevator lobby smelled of urine, the desk chair seat appeared to have been shredded by someones cat. There was no microwave in the room even though there was clearly a place for one and the beds were U shaped! Front desk staff was nice unfortunately that is the only good thing I have to say about the entire hotel!
Stayed at this location for a wedding. The property is enormous. The main entrance area and the restaurant/bar were welcoming and service was good at the front desk and the bar. My family enjoyed the indoor/outdoor pool. The ballroom in which the wedding was held was also nice and I liked that they served the food/bar in the common area outside of the ballroom itself, but was still private. So we were able to step out of the noise of the DJ later in the evening and able to chit chat. We also booked a suite on the 3rd floor for the weekend. The size of the suite was great. The overall BIG disappointment was how outdated this hotel is. The rooms, the hallways, the kitchen, the carpet, the curtains, the paint, the furniture, etc. The private balcony also had not been cleaned prior to our arrival and there were cigarette butts out there. I understand it must be very expensive to keep a hotel of that magnitude up to date, but it really was off-putting. I was afraid to even take my shoes off. There is a lot of potential happening here, but the hotel should really invest in much-needed updates.
The only good thing to say about our stay was the location. The rooms are dated and nasty. The bathroom was in need of a very deep cleaning and it was questionable enough my wife and I felt the need to check for bed bugs. I will say we didnt find any. I would not stay there again and feel ripped off for the price I paid through Priceline. This place should be a 2 star at best 3 and half star is misleading. I dont typically post reviews but feel the need to in this case.
One of the many hotels that lost IHG branding early on during IHGs expulsion of underperforming hotels from its portfolio during the pandemic. Used to be a Crowne Plaza but now just called The Plaza. Since then the facilities continue to be on the downward trend. The staff are friendly but nothing besides the awesome Indian restaurant in the hotel would make a person want to come back. Rooms and halls are very dated. The bed is adequate. In desperate need of a floor to ceiling remodel or even a small renovation to bring life back to the place. Still a ghost town due to COVID so the chances of you seeing another guest during your stay will be minimal at best.
Crowne Plaza has a nice staff, great rates for great rooms, and a delicious breakfast buffet for about $10. Overall, it would have been a very pleasant stay if housekeeping hadnt walked into the room, without even knocking, less than an hour into our stay; and they would have done the same the following morning had we not locked the deadbolt on the door. We were compensated at the front desk with free drinks and breakfast, and a discount on our stay. This was a severe lack of communication between the front desk and housekeeping. It was embarrassing for us and an invasion of our privacy.
Stayed recently with my family, which consists of several small children. Right after we checked in (about 8:30pm) the people next door started banging on the wall and called in a noise complaint. I don’t think we even had our shoes off yet and the kids were just laughing. The front desk called and I asked if we could move. The manager came right up with a new room key, helped up move our things and was very apologetic- even though it wasn’t his fault the neighbors were rude! Overall we had a great stay, the hotel was clean, the staff was friendly and very helpful. Highly recommend!
Overall had a good stay. Hotel is very large and a little outdated. The rooms were clean to the eye but you could tell nothing was moved to clean around. The breakfast was very nice hot and cold options. The staff at the beginning were not very friendly but that might have been due to a soccer tournament. Overall for the price it was good but nothing fancy.
After arriving very late into the evening, and being brushed off by another hotel, that very clearly didnt want our business. We ended up calling around to find another hotel, and Jim was very happy to have us stay at the Plaza of Grand Rapids. He gave us a great deal on the room, and helped us out immensely!
Unfortunately my experience here was not one that was exactly great. The restaurant inside was decent the hotel itself is in bad shape and is in need of updating and honestly a complete gut job. So before I really get started on the hotel itself I want to say that the workers were very nice they did try to solve my problems and they were nice and well trained. My room on the other hand was in terrible shape one of the beds was broken the tub took a long time to drain and the rooms furniture was in rough shape. Although this was a theme throughout the hotel as far as the furniture being in rough shape. The elevators also need to be repair as it feels as if youre going to drop to the bottom of the Earth or go through the ceiling not because her brand new theyre really good shape no quite the opposite they feel like theyre going to let loose with cables and drop you to your death. The only thing I can say is that there were some nice people up front very professional people up front other than that I hotels in dire need fixing.
Older hotel, clean. Lots of open space. There are large parties staying there and its quiet. Room is comfy, shower and AC unit are wonderful. Only negative comment would be the lounge. We requested room service and were told to order at bar. The lady working there still had not produced our food after an hour of waiting and she was absent frequently from the bar. It was not busy and she was very slow. We left without our food. I would recommend going across the street to Sundance or elsewhere if you want late night food.
Staff was great. But my room was horrible. Bathroom was extremely nasty. Black mold or mold on the ceiling, shower wasnt clean, shower head didnt work properly. Beds were extremely stiff. When I went to the front desk and explained what the problem was. All i got was Im sorry Ill let a manager know asap. Definitely not worth $171 for the night
The rooms are clean and its pretty quiet. There was some nice lotion and relaxation mist on the bed when I got there, which was kinda neat. BUT... This place is huge. Like scary huge. I think I saw a couple hotel staff and like NO ONE else. Thats probably why its so quiet. Everything is really dated, and you can tell theyre attempting to keep up but oh man... Its just too big and too many rooms! And the mattresses are like bowls, theyre so old. I cant believe anyone could get quality sleep in those beds. The elevator was creepy and small and scary. I rode it once and thought well... I guess its stairs for the rest of the trip. Id highly recommend trying to find a different hotel.
We stay here on a fairly frequent basis. The rooms are clean, the indoor/outdoor pool is great, and the furnishings are generally newer, however there are some issues. The TVs are all hospitality TVs, which means you cant connect your own devices. Weve stayed in a couple of rooms with older AC/heating units which are not great, and the pool heater was broken for an entire week at Christmas time, leaving one of the best hotel features useless.
Nice hotel with comfortable rooms and a beautiful pool area that is indoor/outdoor. We were at a banquet and thought it was a great venue. My only complaint was the banquet food. My London Broil was disgusting. A big grisly, tough mess I literally had to saw with a steak knife to dissect out the edible parts. Other than that it was a fine stay
We booked this hotel for a family event in July back in January for about 30 families. We asked for a large gathering room for everyone to get together. When we arrived we found out that our gathering room had been down graded to a basic hotel room without a bed and a couch thrown in. We later found out this occurred because a large business wanted that larger gathering room.We were told dogs were OK for an extra $20 and found out once we arrived they were supposed to be under 20lb. Luckily the lady behind the desk still allowed us the room. She was actually very nice. The hallways in the section we were put in were about 90 degrees so I would end up sweating and wet by the time I got to my room after going anywhere in the hotel. This is also the only hotel I have stayed in that doesnt offer refrigerators in rooms for guests. While the staff was friendly and the room seemed to be clean. It had a slight smell like dirty feet. I will not be staying here again.
Crowne Plaza hotels are always a mystery. Some are really nice, some, not so much. The Grand Rapids property is average. Rooms were clean, but do need an update soon. Flat screen TV is incredibly small, the size youd place in a kitchen. But its nice that there was microwave & fridge in the room.
This hotel was EXTREMELY disappointing!!! We used to come here as kids and it was very nice, but it has gotten very dingy and gross. Our whole hallway smelled like pot and there were stains on the carpet. Also, the bed was WRAPPED in a PLASTIC mattress cover!! The pool area was also stained and gross. I will never be staying here again!
I wouldnt stay here again. I specifically chose this hotel because I expected it would be a nicer hotel (due to the price point and the photos shown online) plus I chose it because of the fact that had an on-site restaurant... I did not want to travel anymore for dinner. While the food at the restaurant tasted fine, there were only two servers working the entire Restaurant and Bar. Service was, naturally, very slow because of that. Much of the equipment in the room was dated and worn out. The bathroom smelled musty. In the end, it was a safe place to stay and the people who work there were all very pleasant, but Ive had equivalent rooms and equivalent service at far lower prices.
The hotel is dated and not what I could expect from a Crown Plaza property. The room was dated and only marginally comfortable. The bed was rather stiff and I woke up in pain rather than well rested. The carpets were not vacuumed and were slightly sticky. The restaurant was short staffed and waiting for anything took a while. Most of the public halls are cold, but on the 4th floor the heat was broken. I told the front desk and was told there are guys fixing it it will be done soon. As of this morning, it was only 59 degrees. I needed a thermal sweatshirt just to walk to breakfast. Overall, the value was awful. A price in the 70s would have been more suitable to the current quality of this hotel.
Nice hotel. It was clean and well kept. The employees went out of their way to make you happy. John in the restaurant is the best waiter I have ever had. I only gave 4 stars because the matress was hard and lumpy. Its time for an upgrade. The walks werent salted properly either. My husband had to do it. I would go back again
We went for the Thanksgiving buffet because my husbands grandmother lives in the nursing home across the street and this was the easiest way for the family to celebrate the holiday with her. The staff they had working was amazing. We had an older gentleman that was assisting our table and he was above and beyond what we could have hoped for. We had a party of 15, with one on a wheelchair and one that should have been, but just brought his cane. Our server was always on spot with our beverages and also making sure grandma had everything that she wanted. That meant the world to us.
The only good thing I can say about our stay was that the breakfast buffet was better than average. We were told to walk all of our luggage and our two young children a long way through the hotel because there were no closer entrances to our room. Not sure if that’s actually true. When we got to our room, the keys did not work and we had to call multiple times for someone to come let us into the room while trying to keep our children quiet in the hallways as we waited. The hotel has Directv and the service was awful to unavailable, we didn’t have television access for most of our stay. Two fire alarms went off late at night and woke our infant up, and when we called to ask if it was safe, staff appeared to be clueless. We were told later when speaking to the manager that some smoke from overcooked popcorn in a guest’s room had caused it, but at 11 at night, we had no idea whether there was an actual threat of fire or a malfunctioning system, because staff could provide us with no information. The hotel itself is falling apart - the desk chair in our room looked like a cat went to town on it, the beds and couches are uncomfortable compared to our previous experience with Crowne Plaza quality. The hot water in the sink was dangerously hot if turned on by its self.We just did not feel safe or comfortable during the one night we stayed, and seriously considered starting our drive back home that night instead of trying to rest there. The manager did give us 50% off of our stay, which brought it down to a price closer to a cheap motel that I’d compare this hotel to, but I truly wish we hadn’t given them any money at all. They assure you that renovations are in the works, but unless the whole thing is stripped and remodeled from scratch, I doubt they’ll get it up to par. We definitely won’t be back to know for sure.
Our client Jay Harris is a well travelled comedian who recently stayed here and wanted to let us know about how great the stay was! The property was very luxurious, and the staff was top-notch. Room was very clean and quiet, and the restaurant on-site was a great way to get some food before the gig. Thanks again for taking such great care of your guests!
Had to have room key replaced four times. Last time I called from our floor instead of going back to the front desk (as advised by desk staff). My husband was able to make it down to the lobby & back up to our room well before a key arrived. Two requests made before receiving extra blankets. Two requests for towels & toilet paper. Overall very dated and dingy. Front desk desk staff inconsistent.
Housekeeping was the worst. They just threw sheets at end of bed had to call front desk everyday to have it made. They left dirty cups and desk were dirty. One day they even forgot to leave clean towels. Today came back to a freezing room they decided to turn thermostat down to 60 when it is 40 outside. I have 2 kids with me and we had to wear our winter gear in our room to stay warm.
Charlie helped us with out quick check in, there’s a pool, sauna and a lovely spacious restaurant. Rooms were super comfortable, fresh towels all that jazz, they also had these beautiful complimentary aromatherapy face creams and air freshener spray for our pillows, so lovely. Our room had two soft beds, and a small balcony which was overlooked a green courtyard. Wifi was super fast and we slept like babies!Staff were always friendly and courteous and helped us with our requests promptly. We enjoyed our food from their restaurant and the breakfast was delicious. When we left we realized that we may have left something in our room, housekeeping were so helpful and we were able to recover what we left, easily.Thank you for a fantastic stay!
The room could be cleaner as I noticed right away when i entered. Lack of vacuuming as u could tell dust was built up along the walls n furniture and behind furniture. I came in late and my rooms keys didnt work so had to wait by room for about 8-10 min. I would have went down but already ticked off and i knew I need to relax for a bit. I will be changing rooms come morning! The rooms are a ways from front desk, hallways are beat up and damaged and o yes found garbage in dresser drawer! Later I was going to head down and grown ass adults running down the hallways like a frat house and almost plowed me over.. back in room and I will address these issues in the morning..had enough already the first night and cant wait to check out in a few days! I have lived in GR for ten years before and I know Ive stayed in better hotels, but this is for work so had no choice.
Room is a good size and bed is comfortable. Bathroom needs more counter space and a hook or hooks for hanging clothes. Carpet needs a better cleaning. Moved the chair and found pieces of food beneath it. Ask for a room that isnt facing the pool if you dont want to hear outdoor noise after 10 p.m.
I was there for 4 nights. First night air conditioner didn’t work so had to gather up all my stuff and move to another. 2 nights later hot water line had a problem so no hot water from Thursday until I left on Saturday. Had to go to another room to shower. Hotel in bad need of upgrading. Staff was helpful.
The hotel is aged & tired. It seems they cut corners taking care of it. My room felt damp. People down the hall complained of bugs. I had no issues with that. I had to ask twice for a refrigerator. The young man who brought it was extremely nice & offered me a microwave as well. There was hair in the shower so I questioned if they had cleaned it or just partially.
Hotel and room was nicely clean and friendly front desk staff. The food was pretty good but nothing fancy. Unfortunately the rooms do not come with a fridge, so I had no where to store my food. When I asked for one, literally within seconds from calling, the young man had the fridge ready at my door. When I asked for extra towels, again within seconds the young man was at my door. so Im pleased with the fast service considering how full the hotel was that day. Only problem I had was the fact that the rooms did not already come with a fridge and i did not have to be charged to get one. But overall pretty good experience.
My wife and I visited for drinks and karaoke. Now karaoke is not something we regularly do but on this occasion we did and it was fantastic. It wasnt very busy so getting up to have a turn did not take very long. The bar staff and bartender were terrific and the drinks were superb. The clientele are pretty decent singers as karaoke singers go so it was enjoyable in that way as well.
The reason this is 4 stars instead of 5 stars is because the coffee machine could not reach a plug. Had to move it to the nightstand so it could reach a plug. Could be fixed with a short extension cord. Was happy with my stay. Didnt have much interaction with the staff, didnt go to the pool, but our room was nice and clean.
Had breakfast as part of a work event. The meal was good, though there wasnt time to sample everything i wanted to. The servers were attentive and polite. The event itself could have been better. Poor spatial organization, paid services delivered late, uncomfortable chairs for an 8 hour conference, and a strange smell in the room.
If you have a chance, definitely pass on this hotel. The rooms were dirty and not cleaned adequately. Also, I found some bug critters under the mattress. If you decide you want to be brave enough to stay here, I would highly recommend to look under your mattress to make sure your not providing a feast while you sleep. Go somewhere else.
Shared the hotel shuttle with airline crews. One of the drivers was exceptionally rude...the other was exceptionally professional. Rooms were fine. Meeting room was WAAAAAY down the hall & had to pass many actual hotel rooms. The food and beverage manager was wonderful...super helpful in taking care of our group!!!
Huge hotel, with apartment like rooms with small balconies, indoor pool, event rooms, and a small bar a restaurant in the front lobby. We had to go down three maze-like hallways to get to our room, which was clean and well kept. Its an older style hotel, which can be a little off putting, but overall it was a very nice stay.
Very disapointted for a room that was $120.00....Weeds everywhere in front of hotel. Leg was broken on one bed. My son had reserved a room also, we were in town for a wedding. They were given 4 different room keys, none of the rooms had been cleaned. Poor Management in the cleaning staff obviously...Cherie Trussell & Robert Demarais (stayed 8-8-2020)
The staff was just ok, very nonchalant male shuttle driver from airport to hotel. Carpet in room is old looking and ugly. Closet doors are falling off track. Refrigerator in room is dirty. The hotel rooms are in desperate need of remodeling. The food in the lobby restaurant was disgusting, very cheap food sold at high prices. There was a strong smell of Marijuana coming from neighboring rooms on the first floor. Over all not to pleased with hotel stay.
Typical outdated Crowne Plaza in desperate need of renovation and good cleaning. Beds were sagging carpet was nasty and frayed as you went into the bathroom overall condition of the hotel poor. Extremely tired hotel. I felt like I needed to shower after I checked out. The staff was very nice and friendly. Its the only reason its a 2 star
The toilet ran all night. I told the desk clerk that afternoon at 4:30, but nothing was done. So I kept the bathroom door closed to block out the noise. Consequently when I went to use the bathroom it was freezing cold. The Keurig didn’t seem to be working. So after getting dressed and going all the way to the lobby to get coffee I was informed that you had to use the disposable travel cups to make it work. (?!) No where were there any instructions to tell a guest this. The shower curtain was dirty, and most of the surfaces in the room were dusty and/or dirty.
Staff is not well trained. They had trouble cancelling my second night. Had already planned to move to a different hotel so this just confirmed my decision. Hot tub not working in pool area. Pool area not picked up regularly and littered with wet towels and dirty dishes. No fridge in room, just empty space in cabinet where it belongs. Many little things not maintained. Moved to Holiday Inn Express, much nicer motel and pleasant well trained staff.
The Crowne Plaza is aging and in some ways it shows. The bathroom/shower is probably the biggest room for improvement. Apart from that, its very quiet, the beds are very comfortable and the staff are all exceptionally friendly and helpful. The pool area is arguably the most attractive feature of the hotel and is an excellent hang-out space for families year-round. Ill absolutely be back when Im in Grand Rapids again.
My company uses the facilities at the Crowne Plaza for our monthly meetings, and I have to say that we have excellent service by the staff and super clean environment every time! Staying overnight is also just as great as meeting in their boardrooms. The rooms are clean, spacious, and very comfortable beds. A+
The room was clean and the hotel staff friendly. Check in was a bit slow and overall the experience was average. I didnt have time to try the continental breakfast or restaurant. The décor is a bit dated. There was no fridge in room which was a little annoying. A few small changes could make the overall experience better. I wouldnt avoid the hotel if it was the cheapest option but I wouldnt go out of my way to stay there.
Very clean rooms and pool area. However not enough security - I only say this because there were kids yelling and running in the halls late at night. I had to download a white noise app to for my nearly two year old and myself to fall asleep. I never questioned my safety, but someone should have stopped those kids from being so obnoxious and disturbing. They were also throwing balls in the pool area and one pegged my daughter while we were swimming in the pool with her for her first time. Like I said it is a very nice place to stay, but it needs to be run a little more strictly.
If you are relying on this hotel for airport shuttle purposes DON’T!!They forgot to right us down for a shuttle to the airport so we were running late for our flight. They told us to call when we got our luggage and they would be here in 5-7 minutes. We waiting 40 minutes for the shuttle. On the upside Hotel was a nice place to hang out and beds were great.
Definitely a let down. Front Desk Receptionist was friendly and started out the stay right; however, from there it went downhill. After a long week of travel, was expecting a nice relaxing evening, not what I got. Room Service Order was not correct and the food was not good. Most definitely will not stay again and would not recommend.
Checked in right before 6pm. First impression was definitely not the best. The hotel is very outdated. Walking into the room you could tell it was an old hotel by the musty smell that lingered. Disregarding this i went to turn the tv on and get settled in. It was already too cold for my liking so i went to turn the thermostat up a few degrees. After about 30 minutes i noticed it was actually getting colder so I went to the thermostat and cranked it to almost 80°F. As time passed it was getting even colder so i called the front desk, a gentleman told me hed call maintenance and have them come up. More time passes and Im now wrapped in the covers wearing my work sweater in attempts to stay warm. Then I noticed my TV remote stopped working so i called the desk again and was told maintenance would be paged and theyd come straight over. Shortly after the 2nd call, 2 maintenance guys (Ben and Austin) knocked on the door. They were both very friendly and took the time to listen to better understand and help solve the issue. After fixing the remote and working on the air conditioner, I was told it would take time for the room to warm up and that if it wasnt warmer within the hour to give the front desk a call again. To my dismay it never warmed up and it was getting late. Shortly before 9pm, I called the front desk for the 3rd time, the lady who answered was less than helpful or friendly. She was very abrupt and short about the situation. She told me the best she could do was send up some extra blankets. Knowing that it was warmer outside than in my room i went ahead and turned the AC completely off and cracked the window in hopes itd get warmer. 30 minutes later i hear a knock at the door and i see a bright smiling face (Bobbi) who brought me extra blankets. They felt like they were just pulled from the drier unlike the rest of the sheets and blankets on my bed. I quickly wrapped up in them and attempted to get some sleep. The room stayed uncomfortably cold for a majority of the night and made it very hard to sleep. With a 5am wakeup call and an almost 12hr work day ahead of me i was less than thrilled. When I got to the lobby the next morning I found out that the 7 other people headed to work with me also had issues with their air conditioning. I hope better for next time although Id honestly prefer there not to be a next time...If it wasnt for Ben, Austin and Bobbis kindness, I would have only given this hotel 1 star.
Decent if somewhat dated rooms. Good food at the restaurant in the hotel. Tiki bar poolside perfect and the indoor/outdoor pool was really nice. Only complaint is everything was an additional charge, including a mini fridge in your room. And no on-site laundry room? Never even seen a hotel without a laundry...Enjoyed our stay. Thanks!
Stayed here for three nights and I found the hotel to be clean and the staff relatively friendly. The hotel is very big, but it is also very dated inside. The hallways are dark and the place has an overall drab feel to it. This is by no means a luxury or modern hotel. It is very conveniently located, right next to the highway with pretty much every retail store and chain restaurant you can think of within a mile or two. Id stay here again if the price was right.
Extremely disappointed in our recent visit to this hotel which in years past had been very accommodating. Everything that could go wrong did and the response by the staff was horrible and even at times condescending. My wife made this reservation for our wedding anniversary and had some specific requests. A bottle of champagne for the room and a small cake or a couple of cupcakes, which in the past had not been a problem.now to follow
I was only here for a short night, but in that short amount of time I noticed the staff was very helpful and cared about my needs. Restaurant bar and lounge looked nice, and had a live performer, vocal artist and pianist. Rooms were comfortable, with a fridge and microwave. I wish I stayed longer to try out their food and explore more. Very convenient stores and restaurants within walking distance, including Walmart.
Everything was fine until my last night. I came back from work find my room had not been cleaned. But there were 3 pieces of chocolate on the pillow of my unmade bed....so someone had been in there. Even stranger is the fact that there had been no turn down service on the previous 3 nights. Called the front desk, no explanation. Who was in my room??
This property is in very bad shape; I would not recommend staying here, even for one night. The walls are very thin resulting in a restless night due to all of the noise from adjoining rooms, hallways, doors slamming, etc. Linens and towels are dirty and have various insects on/in them. All the furniture in the rooms is in an unacceptable condition. Also, don’t be alarmed if you’re woken in the middle of the night by a bat flying around in your room.
We try to check in our room using our key card for 5 mins it wouldnt open the door. We come to our room after being in the pool and take showers and the water wouldnt go down the drain. Now as were Celebrating our 20 year anniversary and we was having a wonderful time overall until we came back to our room to go to bed and found feces or appear like feces on the top and bottom sheet. We took pictures so when we went down we could show the front desk, which they gave us another room which the shower again not going down and the handle to the shower broke came off.
The large comfortable beds were exactly what was needed! We ended up checking in kind of late and very tired and were pleasantly greeted by the night clerk. Sherry, I think her name was, helped us right in with cheerful manor seldom found at that late hour. Once in the sizable room, we were surprised to see there was a balcony where we were able to take in some fresh night air before hitting the hay. Though the breakfast menu offered some delicious sounding options, we chose to sleep in be fore hitting the road the next day. Next time around, I hope to be able to take advantage of the restaurant and bar. Overall, the Crowne Plaza was a great stay for us, though a brief one. The room was up to date, beds were cozy, bathroom was tiled and modern, and the staff were very friendly!
Made a reservation for our Anniversary!! Weve stayed here SEVERAL times, but its been a few years. And our previous experiences were all phenomenal!!I had to babysit my reservation for accuracy. And... they STILL got EVERYTHING wrong. Then they wanted to argue over my integrity in making my reservation, and everyone I spoke with. I requested a special room, Champaign, and extra towels. Our first courtyard room was terrible, filthy windows, ripped screen, ripped furniture. When i asked if we could have another lounge chair for our room, I was told NO. IT WOULD BE CONSIDERED A FIRE HAZARD. Nick from maintenance was outstanding, making sure WE would not be charged for the damage. (they put a hold on my credit card for that)A cracked pipe left water rushing out under the sink, and the room had an intermittent unbearable stench, so we were moved to a smaller room with more furniture. (?)The air conditioner was equally nosy, but the TV volume locked at a max setting of 25.Our next room was smaller, and the bed much less comfortable, and had MORE furniture! They were kind enough to set the small refrigerator up for us, but something was wrong...way too cold! EVERYTHING we put in there, was later found frozen. The indoor/outdoor pool was OK. But was dirty and seemed to have very little chlorine. The Jacuzzi was way too hot and OVER chlorinated to enjoy for very long.* I forfeighted additional hotel points, for the 2 complimentary hotel drinks and the snack. That was the BEST part of the entire stay.Upon review of my check out statement is how I learned they now charged a fee to bring your dog, and that we were charged double taxes for one night out of two. Ironically, I got an email alert from Trip Advisor that the room rate was... $94. We paid almost $300.00, for 2 nights. Including the breakfast buffet. Which was mediocre. And, ALL cold. The coffee was great! Terrible in the room, and why no flavored creamer? We were not able to use the 2nd set up breakfast coupons, as the hours for breakfast changed during the week. We slept in, and missed it. No refund was given.I found it unsettling that EVERYBODY seemed to know we were unhappy, but NOT one person did ANYTHING about it. No complimentary champagne or room service, no room charge reduced or even partially refunded. I paid in cash. At check in. Leaving me ZERO leverage. (NEVER do that!!) I would have sought an immediate refund from my bank upon returning home.I was actually told when trying to express my unhappiness with our experience, that they were more of a business hotel. And business we saw! Airline employees, sports teams, etc. But then the hotel was dead empty, overnight. They USE to put a burgundy sache on your bed. Filled with cool stuff! Now its 2 toilet wipes and a 0.1 oz bottle of relaxation spray(?). Ours of course, was missing that. We were told we could NOT have another one, because... they charged for them.Disappointing stay overall. Sadly, that they didnt seem to care about OUR stay WHILE we we there. It just kept getting worse, like a bad dream. Afterall, it was JUST our Anniversary. And, we never did get that bottle of champagne I requested, OR the dish for my dog I forgot, for water. Little things go a long way. So does customer service. It USE to be SO much better. I dont cry easily. But I did. All of this was just too much....------------------------------------------------------------------**And the RESPONSE to my review, is EXACTLY the opposite of resolving our experience and leaves us----- further disappointed.😕
Location is a fairly busy area, with shopping center and restaurants in the vicinity. Rooms are very clean with good WiFi speeds. The pool is indoor and outdoor, featuring an indoor hot tub. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The airport shuttle runs on a regular schedule, which is helpful for planning purposes.
We had to find someplace to stay during home renovations since the tornado caused damages to our home. We got here with little expectations. The girls at the front desk were SO KIND TO US ( they had no idea how much we needed that) they have been more than great here so far!
This hotel is old. It looks old, smells old, is old. Everything in it is old and the design is bizarre. Im a 64 runner with long legs and it still took a full 5 minutes walking to get to my room from the front desk. There is no continental breakfast and the restaurant breakfast buffet was borderline disgusting. Considering the price, it was definitely not worth the stay. I will not stay here again.
This is one huge hotel! A favorite for traveling teams, business groups and wedding parties. With a wonderful indoor/outdoor pool with a alcohol stocked cabana, that features locally crafted MI beer, you can relax all day. Tons of private rooms for meetings and a huge restaurant inside. Right nearby the airport, they feature free rides every 30 min. Not in the heart of the city, but this hotel features many amenities that most guests are looking for.
I would book elsewhere, old in poor repair.First room the bed was a king size,.a useable box spring terrible bed could see immediately sagged worn out bed felt way worse than it looked. Had to pay more for a double bed when I was switched. Im sure this is going to get a response from IHG to contact them I already did, nothing else since. Just book elsewhere.
It is a very nice hotel and has decent sized pool with a hot tub and a sauna. But one thing I wish they had was fridges and microwaves in their room. I had gone to dinner before arriving at the hotel and had leftover that I had to then throw away cause there was no place to store them.
The hotel was very nice when you wntered, the lobby was very presentable, the hallways clean and obstruction free and rooms were very clean and comfortable. Bathrooms were cery clean, only complaint was the floor in the shower was kind of slippery and it was at an angle so i did almost slip. The location of the hotel was great there was plenty of things around as far as food, recreation, and attractions. Would stay there agaiin if i had to.
Its a clean hotel. The hotel itself is dated and in dire need up an updating. (Most of the CP Ive stayed in are very nice and Modern. The lobby is nice but getting to your room can be a bit confusing. Again youll see that this is a hotel that needs updating. The beds are ok, it works for a bed but its not a cloud, the room is kinda of gloomy depending on where your room is looking. I have had both courtyard and highway facing rooms. For overall appearance its ok. There are lots of close options to dine and shop.I just wish the windows would open further to help air out the room more. Some of the rooms are smelling stale and well used.
Pros: Staff are friendly and beds are comfortable, tv is newer.Cons: Nothing is done here extraordinarily well. Cleanliness is subpar but not the worst I’ve seen. Rooms and common areas in desperate need of some serious rehabilitation. There is an M-live article from 2010 stating it was renovated from A-Z and I am not sure the owner uses the same alphabet. Much of the place looks from another century, save new countertops in bathroom and new tv. And any work that may have been done looks shoddy at best.So much potential with this facility staffed with smiling faces conveniently located close to the airport and shopping. Just really needs some serious TLC.
This place is a joke. Website says check in a 3 but fronts desk says 4 pm. We even called to confirm check in and were told 3pm. Nothing done to accommodate us as we have a wedding to attend at 4pm. Wife is currently getting ready in the bathroom. Terrible customer service, spoke with a platinum member in the lobby and they are having a similar experience. Was only told “Sorry, our website is wrong”. Horrible customer service.
No idea how & why this hotel has 4 stars. This is a dumpster for a crown plaza. It is so dated & dirty. The beds in room have bent mattress. Curtains have stains. Just gives a dirty feeling. TV is dated & a 30inch ... too small for the size of the room.Hope I dont have to stay here again.Management should read the reviews & get their act together.
Crew can was punctual for pickup at the airport. Wasnt too far of a drive. Got us back to airport at the scheduled time. Didnt receive our wakeup calls though. That is very important for crew members to be able to rely on wake up calls as a backup to our own alarms. Rooms could have been cleaned better.
The hotel is not even close to being updated. The rooms are dark and depressing. The guy at the bar was actually wonderful, the only bright spot of the weekend (Dominic). We were here for a wedding and the bride arranged for the shuttle to take us to and from the venue. The hotel absolutely refused to transport us either way, even though they had called to confirm transportation earlier in the week and we had called saying that we were stranded because Uber couldnt pick us up from the venue after we had to find our way out there earlier in the day. Through all of that, they didnt offer any help or any apology for their mistake. Unprofessional. Dont trust this hotel and dont bother giving them your business or money.
Expected much more, especially seeing as the reviews were mostly stellar. Has a nice pool and welcoming area, howevee the rooms are basic. No refrigerators or microwaves yet theres a huge cabinet that youd usually find one in. I didnt read up on this hotel prior to arrival, it was paid for by my company. I here the Lansing location is awesome and blows this one out of the park.
Sat in the restaurant for just under 30 minutes, waitress never came to our table, we had to get our own menus and we never even got water.Ordered food from someone (we believe it was a cook) and wanted to make sure the food was in and the waitress/bartender couldn’t figure it out.3 tables- 5 or 6 people at the bar is not a rush for two employees and the entire experience was pathetic. We are here for an event and thought this would be faster but now we have 15 minutes to find food after wasting 30 here and won’t have another chance for 3-4 hours.
Nice Clean Hotel. Neat indoor/outdoor pool. Decent restaurant and good bar. Nice people working here at restaurant. The front desk people are average hotel works, but less than expected at a Crowne Plaza. Rooms are clean and ok, good air conditioning, limited hot water in room I was in for showers. Nothing special about this Crowne Plaza hotel. But not bad for a place to stay
I showed up to the hotel a little after 3:30pm for check in and was told the rooms are not ready. I had booked and paid for my room months ago. They could not tell me an estimated time the room will be ready. They told me everyone just showed up at same time. Well shouldnt you have all the rooms ready by 3pm anyway. Mind you, we have a wedding at 5pm and it is now 4:18 and they still have no idea when our room will be ready. This is ridiculous and I will gladly say I will never come back again.
The staff were very polite. The airport shuttle was quick and convineint. The room was nicely furnished and with small touches like the bedside charger port with outlets and usb connections. The room was clean, and the shower gel/soap/shampo was definitly better than average (but Im no expert 😉). I would definitely stay here again.
Needs major renovation desperately. The staff could not have been better but the facility had major flaws. Felt sorry for the staff having to continually apologize when they were trying so hard to accommodate obvious deficiencies. Our room was dirty, with stains on the ceiling and marks on the walls. No towel rack in the bathroom so even if I wanted to prevent the towels from being washed every day there was no place to hang them The gold leafing on the bathroom mirror wa all chipped away probably from the steam that built up from the fan not working. Lampshade had major cracks. Not going back with our group till this place gets a major overhaul. Certainly not up to Crowne Plaza Standards.
Nothing good to say. When we arrived, we didnt have a room that was previously reserved. When we finally got a room, it had to be cleaned (at 10:30 pm). Blood on my pillow case, stopped up toilet, etc. This place is in dire need of renovations. It is way outside its prime, especially for what they charge per room.
Although the main lobby is big and bright, the rooms are in need of being updated, so do the elevators, they had really bad odour.Housekeeping is poor - I had tissues thrown in front of my room just after I had checked-in in the evening (8pm), the drinking glasses were dirty, the bed runner had some gross sticky food stuck to it, etc.You will miss the hotel easily if you’re driving at night, extremely poor lighting around the hotel and lacks signage on the main road, would not expect that from a Crowne Plaza property. If you can, avoid this property and look up another IHG property if you’re a IHG Rewards status holder like myself. I’ve heard there’s good Holiday Inn properties around that are much more updated and provide a better overall experience.
Check in left a lot to be desired. The three workers was too busy talking instead of acknowledging guest. The room was dated, but nevertheless clean. I was told that there was a $50 deposit which was fine but they never said it was per day! Really? Where do they do that at?? Obviously, here... 🤦♂️. Wont be back.
The hotel was fabulous however we were at a wedding and the bride and groom had warned the hotel that the wedding reception would end up in the bar after 11pm. They only had one bartender and she was horrible! Acted pissed off at the world super slow and kept saying she didn’t want to be working. Wrong profession for her to be in.
This is a very ghetto hotel. I’ve stayed at motel 6 and it was better than this the room snapped like smoke, they had no extra blankets, the attendant Tawana wasn’t pleasant at all, the pool was over crowded, the “clean” cups had ashes or something in it, just was a expensive low class hotel I’d never stay again.
Supposes to be so clean...didnt seem all that clean, and on the second night a spider crawled up on my pillow and there was a bug in the bathroom. Super awful for someone like me with sensory processing disorder and anxiety. Loud lawnmower, could hear everyone closing their doors or weird sounds often, loud ass AC but decent and surprisingly went down to 60 which is amazing. Maid walked in after a quick knock when i wasnt dressed but luckily realized quickly (and i remembered to lock it after that) but freaked me out, then when i finally was falling asleep they knocked and called which again caused my anxiety and pain disorder to spike and flare more...turns out they made a mistake and thought i was supposed to check out when i had another day booked. I wanted an accessible room next to an entrance, but they failed to inform us prior that its unusable after 10 pm, and because of the sun and heat causing me so much pain i only came and left in the middle of the night so it was useless and worse. Its always awful for me with my conditions, but this was even way worse than usual. And it didnt even have a mini fridge. Hated it.
HIGHLY HIGHLY DONT RECOMMEND. AVOID AT ALL COST. IF YOU CANNOT CANCEL WASTE YOUR MONEY AND GET ANOTHER HOTEL. THEY WILL LIE AND CHARGE HIGHER RATES............Our story! We checked in at 3 PM with no AC in our room. Temps in room were over 90 degrees. Our 1 year old was over due for a nap and fell to sleep around 4. After 4 visits and calls to front desk they finally move us and acknowledge that they have been having issues throughout our section. Now reading reviews its been an ongoing problem for weeks. IT TOOK 4.5 HOURS FOR THEM TO MOVE US AND GUESS WHERE THEY MOVE US TO? Right next door 237 moved to 235. 235 with bathroom door falling off the hinges room dirty and gross with ripped up furniture. WOW is all i have to say. Up and down the hallways i overheard multiple people complaining. A elderly woman next to us said all the could do is send her a fan.I have called and attempted to talk to management 3X now after our stay and they will not return my calls. I attempted to talk to them when i checked out they promised to take care of me and my rate of $160.00. Instead i check my account and they took out $250.00.HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE Experience. Any positive review right now i would assume its a lie in all honesty.
They dont keep the place as nice as it could be. The room we stayed in was not cleaned very well. Staff does not follow up well on issues. The food staff is very under staffed. They just could not keep up. Management needs to fix a bunch of things before I would ever consider staying there again.
This could be a nice hotel but it needs a facelift big time. Its the worst smelling hotel ice ever smelled and Ive been in literally 1000 hotels. All of the carpets are disgusting the sauna has disgusting carpet. The fitness center has 2 working machines out of 7 awesome. I would not recommend this place mostly because of the hideous smell. Smoke, mildew, mold, body odor, and just old yucky carpet. Please please please invest in hardwood floors no more carpets carpets breed disease!!! Yucky yucky yucky. The employees are sweet and there are stores and good restaurants near by. The restaurant on site us actually good but still old ugly old decor. Please invest. I know its expensive but you can find a way!!!
I stayed in this hotel for the Michigan league of Academic Games and the service and food was horrible. I understand that the hotel probably gives MLAG a deal for the tournament but overall the food leaves a lot to be desired but I can understand due to the pricing you can only expect so much but there is no reason the conference areas are freezing. We had to dress in layers and we were in the hotel. In the common area of the conference rooms there is a door off one of the parking lots that is damaged with large sections of metal and insulation missing and cold air just coming in. The airline employees got priority for the hotel shuttle, we were told at 8:00 a.m. In the morning that it would be at least 4p.m. Before we could be taken a 1/2 a mile down the road. Due to the food at the tournament supplied by the hotel being less than appetizing I figured I would try the hotel restaurant and I ended up paying $20 for the same bland food as supplied to us for the tournament. Think twice before booking a conference there.
Very outdated. Furniture was ripped, closet door wasnt even on track, electrical outlets didnt work, and there was a bay flying around one of the floors. Staff was excellent and very attentive (which is why its not one star). They are currently remodeling, but at this current time, save your money and do somewhere else!
Random bathroom stalls were out of order most of the stalls didnt have tissue the floors were sticky garbage bins where full to capacity. I was there over the weekend for a pool tournament being held there and that was the case the whole weekend I dont know if it was because they where busy with 400 pool players there or not but I do know that they could have prepared they knew they was gone be busy.
The crown plaze is a nice hotel. Pool is good and fitness center is nice too. I had a nice stay for a week long work trip. The WiFi is a good connection and available. It needs up dated and the hotel is loud do to fan noise and the elevators need up dated bad new doors and some paint is needed.
My stay at the Crowne Plaza in Grand Rapids was pretty great! The front desk ladies were super helpful and friendly. They even allowed us to check-in an hour early. Which made it even easier to leave earlier than expected, especially since it was only a short drive away from downtown Grand Rapids.
Rooms seem to be cleaned very quickly and last minute. i have experienced and heard about last minute room avalability issues. Great location and great building but needs more professional staff. The website mentions continental breakfast but there actualy is none. There is alot of ducktape on the floor and not just in the corners, In main walking places. Microwave and mini-fridge cost extra whitch i have never heard of in a hotel
Used to stay here regularly when traveling for work - after this trip Ill find someplace else. When making the reservation I confirmed 3 times the rooms were connected - when I arrived they were not. When we got to our rooms one room had dried urine on the floor in the bathroom and in the closet was a bra strap. The other room had a broken charger cord left in the corner and an earring on the floor. When we reported this to the front desk no apology just do you want me to send housekeeping up? Well I would prefer the room is completely clean before I arrive but sure I guess now we should send them back. This place has gone downhill! Ive seen several reviews where the reviewer has said something similar and the hotel has replied that they would correct the problem - however, I assure you the problem is not corrected

2022-02-23I did not know that the Plaza offered an airport park and ride service. I was flying to Florida and was not looking forward to paying airport prices to park my car. So, no lie, I googled cheap airport parking and this was one of the things that popped up. Super Easy! You can pay for it online and everything. It ended up being $43 for 5 days.Anyways, you go down, park your car in the hotel lot, go in and tell them youre there for the park and ride service. You fill out a paper describing your car and plate so they know youre a customer and they bring you to the airport. The whole thing, from me parking to getting dropped off at the airport was around 20 minutes. We passed a HUGE line of cars going into the airport long term parking. When I got back from my trip, I called the number on the card they gave me and my ride was there in less than 10 minutes.Best parking decision. Ill definitely be using them again.

2022-01-01Positive: The pillows on the bed were decent. Everything else was a pretty big let down. Negative: This hotel was NOT a 3.5 star hotel. Closer to 2 star. It is run down with broken furniture, peeling paint and wall paper, broken bathroom tile, etc. The shower was not clean, water not hot enough, place for a mini fridge, but none there. Small room.

2021-12-07It was not the best experience staying here. The entire lobby/first floor reeked of curry. Our room was very dark but one bulb was burnt out. We had them bring up a new bulb but it didn’t help. It was just a very dark room. The voicemail system was down so the phone in our room flashed a red light into the dark all night long. We ended up covering it up so not a huge deal. But.. The heating/air conditioning unit was exceptionally loud even for a hotel. To the point that it was disruptive to our sleep all night long and we were exhausted all the next day when we traveled. Pretty much ruined our first day of vacation because we were so sleep deprived. One side of the fitted sheet was stained with what appeared to be blood. We fly out of Grand Rapids at least 3-4 times a year and this time decided to stay the night because of an earlier flight plus snowy road conditions from home to GR. I will never stay at this hotel again.

2021-08-10Positive: The cleaning ladies were very good and fast. We didn¿t like the fact that the room was cleaned just once so we asked to clean it before the 5th day. With a group of 4 things are dirty soon. The staff gentlemen were very friendly. Good location. Negative: The hotel is very old. Some of the ceiling portions have signs of water damage and that smells bad. My daughter has mold allergies and We were considering leaving.

2021-09-15I dont usually take time to do a review, but this hotel and the staff was beyond amazing! We have a 2 week old baby who has special needs for her formula and Orbits advertised the room incorrectly. When I called the front desk to ask what I can do about a fridge and and a microwave they did not hesitate and brought us both right away even through my room did not come with it! We decided to stay one more night and they upgraded us for free to accommodate our needs! This hotel maybe a little on the old side, but its very clean and well taken care of. A few things dont work great but they let you no right away they are remodeling! I would stay here again in a heart beat!

2021-12-20The price per room was reasonable. The bed was aweful and room was old and beat up however they are remodeling. The pool looked amazing. Limitation on dining. You can park your car at no cost and had good service to and from the airport.

2021-07-13Positive: The staff was so nice. Plus, we had a dog and they gave us a room with an exterior door which was great for taking the dog outside. Negative: The hotel was nice, but very worn. If the details were taken care of (tons of cigarettes on the ground outside, bathroom shower curtain was too short, fridge was on its lowest but didnt keep things cold, screen doors off the track, etc) it would be great!

2021-09-26Most staff was friendly and pleasant to deal with. Room was fairly clean, some stains on curtains is about all we noticed.. No places to hang towels to dry. Microwave was not in room as listed on amenities, not that it was needed. Quiet. I couldnt hear neighboring guests.

2021-09-27Do not be deceived. This is no where near a 4 star hotel. 1-2 at best. The only reason we stayed here was because we were in town for a stay and play tournament. The hotel is old, moldy, smelly and needs complete gut rehab. Bathrooms are so small you can barely turn around. Mold on ceiling. Doors don’t shut and all warped. Carpet is so old and dingy. Bedding is worse than hospital sheets. TVs say they are a Crowne Plaza affiliate, but believe that status has been revoked. Although we filled their hotel, staff was less than friendly. One would think they would jump for joy with a full hotel at this place. Unless you are forced to stay here, absolutely no reason to go here. Plenty of other hotels in the area to choose from. Such a rip off and terrible any tournament would partner with them.

2021-11-10First time there. Located near airport in Grand Rapids. Was a very busy place. Lots of events and meetings going on. Was there with Family who had an event going on. Check-in was easy and rooms were accommodating. The hotel has seen better days. Friendly Customer Service. And there was a breakfast buffet.
