The Salvation Army Family Store & Donation Center in other cities:
So glad I could get in line to drop off my donations today, but they need a better system. Only 1 handler and he was digging through all the donations pulling out things they wont take. Why wont they take brand new curtain rods in an opened package? Do they not have tape? Is this now a retail not resale store? At least the man was pleasant but Im severely disappointed.
It’s clean. Almost too clean? Never thought I’d say that about a thrift store, but it’s so clean there’s not much to choose from in most departments (but clothes were abundant).Almost no belts, I was looking for men’s leather belts for a craft.Nothing to dig or sort through.
It is nice that you have handicap parking up front. It is a long way to the front door for the mobility challenged. I use a walker. The store is clean and has lots of light from the front windows. Can you possibly place the full figure clothes closer to the front? I like how big the changing rooms are. Your staff are friendly and helpful. I liked your calendar that shows all of the sales and events for the month.
I just went to this store, very bad customer service I have ever face. I paid 10 dollars cash for a pair of shoes, right in front of the cashier I tried both shoes, because the put one in back and one in by the cashier. I feel one is small another one is big. So in max one minute I say could you give me my money back. That’s not good. She didn’t give my money back. She just stole my $10.00, She was very rude. she say she is the manager of the store
I shop a lot of Salvation Army thrift stores but the customer service at this store is the Worst! They close at 6 - but door is locked at 5:40 and you must discontinue your shopping experience at 5:30 - One employee rudely announced to customers that they would not be serviced if they didnt get in line - Obviously employees going home is more important that servicing customers until they actually close at 6Store was clean and had nice things - but I wont be back - Need customer service training!
This location is nice (newer building).. However, the items are priced ridiculously high. Even with the sales they run, its not worth the price. You can get new items for around the same amount of money. Also, the cashier was asking everyone to round up their purchase total amount as a donation. I really hope that money is going to the salvation army and not anywhere else. I love shopping at salvation army stores, but I wont go back to this location.
This store has gone down dramatically. Way over priced, I mean cmon they are used. Why is a pair of old Adidas track pants 9 or 11 dollars? Mens T-Shirts mixed in with womens, purr lazyness on Managements end. Employees seem to be a little more rude and move slower than the employees at the Secretary of State. I used to like coming to the old location better. When prices were fair and items were good. Employees seemed nicer and calmer at the old location. So to the consumer I say BEWARE OF HIGH PRICES AND SMELLY CLOTHES. I am giving them one more chance today to see what the deal is and if it is the same as two weeks ago I will never return to this location. Rochester Hills SA has cheaper and more brand name things than here. Just saying.....
The Salvation Army has benefited from so many homemakers spending the last couple of months cleaning out their closets. As always, the store is clean, cool, and roomy. The merchandise is well organised and displayed. Take your rollator if you require a place to sit. There is an advantage in knowing that the Salvation Army has been supporting the local communities for many generations.
The worst customer service. They are so rude. They try to rush you out of the store when there’s still an hour open. If someone walks in after 5 ( they close at 6) they tell them the registers are shutting down in 20 minutes. Not true. I was in line at 5 and was rushed still even though I was the one waiting 20 minutes to check out! Not enforcing masks either.
This USED to be a nice store. Its dirty, they put broken items on the shelves. Priced high. Cashiers are slow and never more than one or two no matter how long the line is. Rarely have shopping carts in the store, they are in the parking lot or in the back I guess. Big sign for customers to remove hangers before checking out... most dont read, so slows down an already slow check out
Clothing selection is pretty good, and prices are definitely fair. Like most SA locations, they offer deals on certain colored tags each day of the week. Furniture and kids toy selection is usually pretty sparse, but usually lots of quality decorative home accessories, dish sets, and odd trinkets.
This location wasnt serve good, Specially a cashier not enough to serve people. I went there couple times and got the same problem waited to long. I went there last time on Thursday 2019 around 7 pm after I got my cloths and waited on the line with couple people but only one cashier at the counter and few store employee worked on the floor. I asked the old lady that worked on the floor. Are you have only one cashier? she said yes! this week I found two Salvation Army store at 14 1/2 and 16 mile Gratiot rd. However, both serve good and many merchandise cheaper.
I came by and they would not accept a few boxes of kitchen stuff (cups, bowls, etc.) Because the box was wet. It literally just started raining while I was in line to donate. The boxes were dry when I got in line!I got home and threw everything away and guess what, everything was dry in the box!Stupid! Just stupid and a waist of my time!
Must be new ownership but I WILL NEVER EVER SHOP HERE AGAIN! The staff is SO RUDE! The way they talk to people is so disrespectful. Not everyone that shops in the SA is lower class or uneducated. Im a professional photographer/director and was looking for pieces to my models to wear and the way they spoke to me and my assistant were along with other guests about where the lines starts was over the top. You never know who youre talking to!!! I was really going to invest my money in shopping at this location but never again! Also theyre air system is broken! So youre practically sweating while trying to shop for clothes. The staff doesnt care or owner doesnt care to fix it. They dont greet you and overall I think the prices of their clothes are a little expensive. I dont care to donate to the salvation army in general. Ill definitely be contacting headquarters.
25152 Van Dyke. Center line. Mi 48015.. Our family was there shopping. It seemed like every corner We turned there was someone watching us, as if we were going to take something..I shop at alot of stores but this one has a negative feeling.. We spent 71.16. I was going to leave everything and go somewhere else but it was a last minute thing.. I bet I will never go back...Not to mention there was only a few people shopping, now I know why...I understand that there are people that steal but you cant judge a book by its cover...just because we were a family of 6..a Mix couple. I guess there is still old/grumps that dont agree on it. But we dont care..we have been together for 13 years. This store wont last long..poor service. You have lost a very good custumer. The 8 mile theft store is so much energy..The ladies I always see are smiling.. Helping.. I have never felt the way I did in the centerline store. The ladies at the 8 mile store love there job...so anyone who reads this DO NOT SHOP AT THE CENTERLINE THEFT STORE..They were watching us like we where in the white house...
They are getting to expensive for the middle and senior shoppers. Sad day when they get their items for free... and the to add insult 5 cents for a plastic shopping bag... so disappointed in Big Business and the misnomer about the Love of money being acceptable in Capitalism. Jesus threw over the money changers tables...

2022-06-29Thank you to the kind gentleman who works at the donation drop off. He looked through the items kindly and I truly appreciated his friendliness and respect. This location I recommend over going to St. Clair Shores where they are horribly mean.

2021-12-15Just tried dropping a few boxes with new items, and the donations attendant was incredible rude (black, heavy set dude in his 20s). I had 3 light boxes, so I asked if I could put them near the door, he acted so surly, not even looking at me o even acknowledge I was there, told me to wait until they finished unloading a big truck of furniture. Who has an hour to wait around? How awful! trying to give free things for them to sell, only to be treated like trash.I rather put this in the garbage than giving them a penny.

2021-10-09I do a lot of drop offs and I have not been been inside this new location since they have moved , but the displays from van Dyke windows look as though it’s organized much better. Fast and easy drop offs though for sure

2022-01-27Prices are way too high for a thrift store; you can buy new items for around the same price. The store was clean, but the employees were very unwelcoming.

2021-07-15I do not shop at this store very often because of the high prices. Compared to the other Salvation Army Thrift stores items are more than double in price and in some cases triple the price. Who is in charge of pricing these donations? This isnt a retail store.
