The only place I get kibbee nayee. We go to the Sheikh every time we visit Canton. I can confidently say they are the best place for Middle Eastern food in the Canton/Ann Arbor area. The garlic dip is incredible, the best weve ever had. Our family has used the Sheikh to cater parties and never been disappointed. Highly recommend.
The food is awesome and they give generous portions. A great value for the money. Service attitude could improve. When I placed a carryout order, Ive been hung up on without anybody saying goodbye. Not a huge issue, and I was done with my order, but service people should be polite.
The worst service ever. The woman who takes the phone orders is beyond rude and unprofessional. Don’t work somewhere or run a business if you don’t have any customer service skills. She didn’t understand me when placing my order and then wanted to try to yell at me because she’s not listening. That’s exactly the reason why she forgot an item in the order as well. Never going back again.
Hummus with fresh pita is one of the best things at this restaurant. Before we had main dishes, we ate literally a lot of pita because it was so delicious. The server was very nice and friendly. Due to COVID-19 situation, customers at tables are not so many, but we saw many people coming in to pick up food. I believe that this place is one of the best Middle Eastern restaurants.
First of all the young girl who seats you has no smile at all. Her attitude seems like Why are you here? Not welcoming at all. Two of us ordered the lentil soup which tasted good. Ordered one veg gallaba and other roasted veg wraps, which we shared. The taste was very average. However both of us got upset stomach in the middle of the night. We had not eaten anything anywhere else. We were disappointed overall with the whole experience and the lousy after effects. Been here before covid and it was good then. Owners, If you are reading this, also make sure the spoons you give to customers do not have food stains on them. Spending money on getting stomach upsets is not anyones thing. Will not be back!
Our favorite place for middle eastern food. The deboned chicken is a must try, with or without bbq sauce. We love the baba ghannouj, its amazing. Soups, both lentil and lemon rice are homemade goodness! We get the wraps often and theyre always good. Havent had a meal that wasnt yummy from here. Great service and good prices and most important always fresh!
The food and service at The Sheikh are outstanding. On this visit, we shared lamb ghallaba and a small hummus. The ghallaba was full of veggies, and the veggies had an incredible flavor! My favorite part might have been the fresh mushrooms, which took on the flavor of the sauce perfectly, though the onions and tomatoes were scandalously delicious too. Lest we forget, it was lamb ghallaba, and the lamb was lean, tender, and cooked perfectly. I would order this dish again and again. On another note, their fresh baked pita bread is scrumptious, with a slight hint of sweetness thats a pleasant surprise. When paired with the creamy hummus, the combination is stellar. Although my husband and I shared this meal, we still went home with leftovers AND we were stuffed! If I wasnt off from teaching this summer, Id have been the envy of everyone at work during lunch. As I mentioned, service was also notable, and our friendly server was generous enough to give us a few pieces of bread to take home with our leftover hummus. Reheat that pita bread in a damp paper towel for a few seconds on each side and its nearly as good as fresh. Yum! If there was anything Id change, its the generic cash wrap area. Im not sure if its its location, but it acts as a focal point even though the rest of the restaurant has a warm, welcoming feel. Considering thats the only thing Id change, Id say The Sheikh is doing a remarkable job. I look forward to reading about your favorite dish!
I ordered chicken shawarma and I found bones inside of it. It looks as if it was a mixture of real chicken and a little mystery meat.I dont think 🤔 the Chicken shawarma they have listed as chicken, is just chicken. It was not bad tasting at all I just feel a little betrayed because I expect to have exactly what I ordered not anything extra. I really use to like this place but, due to the deceitful entrap, I dont Want to come back after this.
Rude, angry, and just not a pleasant place to deal with. When I called the woman who answered the phone had a very short Curt angry attitude immediately after my order was placed she hung up on me not give me my total just click not even a bye. When I arrived to pick up my order same thing rude mean clearly had a bad day but I picked up my order and left nonetheless. When I got home I noticed that even though they gave us the pita bread there was zero garlic to go with it I got five shawarmas a big bag of bread and no garlic paste. I have never heard of such a thing. Ive never heard of such a place that does not give you any garlic no matter what however they did have a nice big sign saying that they would charge you for it a dollar for 2 oz absolutely ridiculous. Then you get to the swarmas themselves two pickles at the very beginning two pickles at the very end with a little bit of sauce at the beach location and absolutely nothing in the middle just dry chicken no sauce no lettuce no tomatoes no flavoring no seasoning no nothing just the chicken. Shawarmas are meant to be served with a whole bunch of stuff and that sauce spread out with the pickles aligned so that it covers the entire sandwich not two pickles stacked on top of each other in two separate locations so that its two bites and you were done with flavor. It is for these reasons that I suggest anyone looking for delicious food courteous service nice attentive waiters and waitresses to avoid this place whether this was a one-time anger issue I cant say for sure however it happened on the phone and in person and then the food was also bad so the cook is in on it as well shame shame too bad for this establishment I do recommend going somewhere else sorry to say.
My family and I have been coming here for years. The food is consistently excellent with good portion sizes. The staff is always friendly and attentive. There is an excellent selection of middle eastern food as well as american selections for the kids. Smoothies are delicious as well. I would highly recommend this restaurant if youre in the mood for middle eastern cuisine.
Still love the food and the service, but they are not taking mask wearing seriously. The past two times Ive picked up from here, the staff werent enforcing masks or wearing them properly themselves. Any restaurant that doesnt take viruses seriously may very well not keep their establishment clean in other ways. I will not be going here during the pandemic again, which is a shame because the food is very tasty.
Have ordered from here quite a few times; the food is pretty good. Just made my first trip there during the corona virus pandemic, and was very surprised to see that none of the staff - wait or kitchen - were wearing a mask. I like to support local, but will be going elsewhere for now as they dont seem to be taking my safety seriously.
I stopped at the Sheikh after having a pretty rough afternoon, so when I went inside I was kind of emotional. When I ordered my food, the staff was so kind and attentive. They even gave it to me on the house. I can’t begin to explain how much small gestures like this mean to me, but I’m super grateful. Not only are they genuinely great people, the food is delicious. :)
Rami had to of been the best waiter Ive ever had!! Everything we ordered was fantastic. Tons of vegetarian options. Everything was very flavorful. We will definitely be back! He even gave us rice pudding since it was our first time there. Love this place!! I would give it 10 stars if I could! Highly recommend.
This was our first visit here. The food was fantastic. However, we had to listen to a table of Trump supporters loudly carrying on, a waitress sitting with them wearing a mask around her chin. Offered my contact info for potential Covid tracing, but was told they dont keep track. Since we can get food similar to this in any number of local restaurants that are taking appropriate precautions and not creating a miserable dine-in experience, we will not be back.
Got served some hot breads right out of the hearth. Nice people, tasty food, well put together, vegetarian and vegan options. This visit was during the quasi quarantine. Id advise calling ahead to avoid the wait if you have a menu. Definitely recommend this place for great foods and a clean cozy atomsphere.
I started going there a month ago. Initially I thought the amount of food and price was great, cant be beat...until today! I was very disappointed to open a tray for 2 and seen enough food to barely cover the bottom of the tray! Its unfair to charge a repeat customer the same price for food meant for 1. Time to find another restaurant to eat!
This was one of my Best out of town eating experiences EVER!!! I called in with No knowledge what so ever.... they walked me through every detail, asked questions, and made Excellent recommendations for food choices and cook temperature!! Their house salad dressing and meal dipping sauce is Foodie Crack!!! No Joke, I could make a meal out of their bread dipped in salad dressing and meat sauce!!! I had the Mixed Grill with Lamb, and it will now be a meal I crave until i get back to Canton again!! The ground Lamb kabob was Awesome, and beef kabob was cooked Perfectly!!! The rice was their recommendation, and Absolutely Phenomenal!!! Do yourself a favor and eat here, so you have another Good Habit!!!
This place was just ok. I ordered two chicken shawarmas and a beef (meat) shawarma. The pita was stuffed with pickles, onion, protein, and garlic sauce but the garlic sauce wasn’t super garlicky. The sandwiches weren’t bad, but they I’ve definitely had better places out there. The lady who took my order over the food was also rude...
We order lunch from here at work all the time, and we also order large party trays for our clients. The food is always very good, and our clients always complement us on it. The prices are decent, and the staff is always very helpful. The food is always ready on time, they never mess up an order, and they even help me carry it to the car just to be nice. Im always happy with both the food and the service.
Just went to The Sheikh for the first time at lunch and we brought our husbands back for dinner on Friday. Great food, Great service. Only one problem that I don’t know if they can fix. The middle and front section seating gets a blast of cold when the door opens. Other than that it’s our new go to place for Mediterranean food.
Good food. But waitress/cashier never smiles, never appears friendly, and seems to be there just doing her job. It turns customers off from a place when the employees dont appear to at least like their job. I dont think I will be returning, unless someone buys them out. You can find great food anywhere. You dont just pay for food, you pay for service: the total customer experience
Love love The Sheikh! One of the best spots for mediterranean food. Service was quick and the staff was very nice. Prices are pretty reasonable and you get a lot of food for it. Social distancing is in place but we felt very comfortable. Definitely would recommend and visit again.
Not going back again and it’s solely due to the woman at the front counter. She was rude over the phone, and even worse in person. We ordered $50 worth of food, and after walking to the car, I realized the salad was missing. I walked back inside to notify them, and the woman made me go back in the rain and bring back all the food (including a tray) so she could see that the salad was missing. She then accused me of walking out with the salad bag, until the gentleman working there said it’s possible the order before me took the salad by accident. Wow.WHY WOULD I LIE ABOUT A FRIGGIN’ SIDE SALAD?!Even after seeing that I was not given the salad (her mistake!) she was still rude and said to her staff “just give him another one”. If its your mistake (even if its not your mistake!) what happened to customer service? Not a single apology. I could tell the gentleman working there found the ladies lack of respect odd as well.If she’s a manger, find another one please. We will not be returning because of her.
This place has the best vegetarian grape leaves I have ever eaten. My husband has gotten the de-bone barbecue chicken and the wraps and theyre delicious. The staff is very pleasant and accommodating. And dont get me started on their bread they give you tons which is great.🍽😊
Good Mediterranean food in Canton. They lost 2 stars in rating due to poor hygiene and service. Restroom was dirty, no soap. Our server was a nice person but missed items from the order and forgot to even serve water. If you can live with that, food is really good. Its not a big area so gets crowded easily. Shared parking, access is from Ford road, located near McDonalds.
Best Middle Eastern food you will find ANYWHERE! I was a regular here when I lived in the area before moving to Austin, TX. Now, whenever I travel back to visit family The Sheikh Restaurant is always my first stop and last before going back. I start craving their Falafel and Spicy Hummus immediately after buying my plane ticket to come here. Besides the Amazing food, the ownership and staff are the kindest, most genuine people you will meet and they treat you like family. Thank you all so much for being the best of the best! You have a customer for life!
Service very good, food fabulous. Im only giving 4 stars, Id rather it be 4 1/2 , because when our dinner came I thought it would be all chicken. Turned out we had lamb and chicken. The waiter said unless we ordered beef specifically the meat was lamb. I hadnt eaten lamb in a long time due to a bad experience so I was a bit upset at not being told that beforehand. Anyway, I tried the lamb and OMG it was delicious!!! It had a nice char on it, spices werent overwhelming, and the meat was like butter to chew. The other plus was the bread. I dont know what its name is but it came out hot and super fresh. No butter, sauces needed. It had a delicate sweet flavor and a just the right moistness and fluffiness to it. It was sort of like a pita pocket but wasnt. I definitely recommend the Sheik restaurant for new and seasoned diners of Mediterranean food!! Going back very soon!!Went back for lunch. The female host was awesome! I was just a bit disappointed in the waiter. I was quite clear with what I wanted but received a different dish. He said he brought me what he said to me, he had repeated our orders ( just me and 1 friend), but I hadnt realized there was a difference because I no longer had the menu in front of me. As a result, my sandwich was very dry and bland. I may go back but I think Ill try somewhere else first.
The food is not bad but the cost is too much. I ordered the veggie combo for lunch and it cost $15.85 plus tip. It only came with a small plate and a soup. They were very cheap with the bread too. Most veggie plates also include falafel, which this one did not. First time I left a Middle Eastern Restaurant hungry. Probably will be eating elsewhere next time.
Went there for the 1st time, was skeptical but seen good reviews. I order 4 chicken shawarma’s 2- minus pickles and the other 2 minus pickles and tomatoes and each sandwich was marked but they all were wrong. The chicken also had grissle all and veins all through the chicken and the tomatoe still had the core in it. The people where nice but the food was not good. My kids didn’t even want to eat it, and I couldn’t blame them:( first and last time.
Hey I love the food its great. But one of the cashier/waitress does not smile. Does not seem to have a friendly bone in her at all. I explained to her how it bothered me, instead of listening to customer and correcting the issue, she fuss with me and tells me ok for now on I wont be friendly to you! What the heck kind of service is that?. But I still go there to pick up my food because its tasty, Ill just ignore her.
I ordered a take out from here today. I ordered the tabouli which was on its last leg. The entire salad was withered and tasteless. I also ordered lentils soup which had no seasoning or flavour. The bread is usually always good but today it was warm but whoever cooked it cearly forgot an ingredient. This was disappointing. I hadnt been here in a while but they always had really delicious food and always fresh. Im not sure if they have new management but lm sure that rhis is a different cook.
First time we went everything was fine, the waiter recommended their deboned chicken so I ordered it and we all hated it. Thats fine no big deal. We went second time. We are 2 adults 2 kids and one year old baby. We ordered something different, vegetarian grape leaves for my son. He started vomiting and said his chest is closing up. I open the grape leaves and found chickpeas. I have never seen or heard of grape leaves with chickpeas. I did inform the waiter joey nicely of the issue so they can be aware that they need to mention any allergens in the menu. Instead of thanking me he gets rude and he said usually customers say what allergies they have. I said my son has so many allergies and I know what normal vegetarian grape leaves contain. We get the bill he charged us for it even though no one ate it. Also charge us gratuity 15% even though it says they only charge that if we were 5 people. My daughter is 1 year old and she was sleeping and he still counted her as 1 person. Keep in mind that the last time he did the same thing and we paid $10 tip which was $15 in tips only. So in conclusion they will treat you fine unless you open your mouth.horrible customer service! !
The food here is decent. Not the best mediterranean by any means, but its still tasty. Our go-to dish at these type of restaurants could use some tweaking though. The boneless chicken that comes with garlic sause is good, but compared to other restaurants which serve the same dish - it almost tastes like theres Splenda or some kind of odd sweetener in the sauce. If they took out the sweetness I think it would be a lot better.
Ordered two subs (which did not taste that good) and was told it would be 15 minutes. The place was not too busy and still it took 40 minutes to have them ready. The servers were rude and unprofessional. Instead of apologizing they just make up excuses. Never going back again
Id heard great things about the Sheikh, and I wasnt disappointed! Fantastic food and wonderful service. We came in close to closing, and unlike a lot of places they welcomed us as warmly as if we were the first customers of the day. Prices were very reasonable and as mentioned, fantastic food!
I chose this place because of their high online ratings. And now I highly recommend you to try The Shiekh Restaurant if you havent already. The food was excellent, we ordered the Lemon Oregeno Tawook plate, Chicken Shawarma plate, Fatoush w/feta and side order of Hummus. Everything was so delicious! And.... we have plenty of left overs for the next day. Lastly, our carry out was ready in 10 mins instead of 20.Win, win!! ☆☆☆☆☆
My wife and I have been coming here a few times per month for 6 or 7 years now (weekly before we had kids). The Sheikh by far has the best middle eastern food in the Plymouth/Canton area. Prices are very reasonable and the staff is friendly. You really cant go wrong with anything on the menu, but I would highly recommend the chicken shawarma, fattoush salad, and hummus. The pita bread is fresh and if your ever under the weather, the lentil soup is great.Your best bet is to get the sheikh platter for about $35 which gives you a bit of everything and is enough to split amount 5 or 6 people.
The Shiekh is awesome on all fronts. Food is terrific, excellent value, staff is friendly, and they have a wonderful family oriented atmosphere. A hidden gem in Canton. If you have not tried their food, do yourself a favor and give them a shot. You wont be disappointed.
After moving to canton i finaly found. This one have been blown away everytime. But today a friend and myself. Went for another brillant. Fatush chickin salad was just in ther tueday. Always been awsum ibwaited all day for my friend to get hear so we could go. Well sorry i was disapiinted to the point i will never go back will find elswear to spend my money. They brought our salad out chickin was dry and nasty. Letus was wilted and slimy ther wasba total of 5 littlr pieses of onion it was totaly nasty we left the whole salad disapointed and went to macdonalds. And the guy looked at us and said sorry you already ate a few bites nothing i can do. Hey brother. Wasnt looking for somthing for free. The waiter didnt even offer to make us a new salad. I will never go back and be cautious going ther spending your hard earned money. 10 dollars cost you a bad review and a customer. Gesh. Get it rite
Really tasty Middle Eastern cuisine. Personally, I like to order rice pilaf and maqaneq and mix them together, which is enough for two people. Excellent lamb kafta and shish tawook. Tahini can be bland at times and meat grape leaves are just okay. Big portions so money well spent.
The food here was really bad and not cooked properly when I told the waitress she basically made fun of me for not knowing authentic Mediterranean food. My in laws are Mediterranean. I know that food and how its supposed to taste and I didnt appreciate being made fun of like that. Never again.
A solid choice for a good lunch. My go to there is the lunch place, shish tawook with rice pilaf and salad. The shish tawook is always hot and seems fresh, the rice is tasty (both improved with judicious use of garlic sauce) and I adore the salad...lettuce, onion, tomato with a garlicky vinaigrette.Personally Im not a fan of the small thick pita, but it is free with the meal. I wish they offered some combination plates as I often eat alone and dont want large portions of each item. I like the Meza at Zamaan Cafe in Ann Arbor (tabouleh, hummus, and falafel) and the Vegetarian Platter at Pita Pita in Ypsi.

2021-12-18I tried the chicken shawarma and it left a lot to be desired. Flavor is mild, texture felt like it was steamed, and quantity is okay. Not enthralled and not going back.

2022-04-24This is our go-to for takeout!! The food is always delicious, packaged perfectly and still hot when you get home. My husband loves the lamb kabobs and I love the chicken schwarma. Of course we always have to get the hummus and tabouli for appetizers and those do not disappoint. Bread is homemade and delicious!!!

2022-05-25Was here for a to go order. The food was alright but the cashier lady could be more welcoming. Not an iota smile on her face and very rude and unpleasant! Go to Levant kitchen -much better service!

2021-06-20Was not a fan. Ordered carry out. The lady on the phone was rude. When I got the food home salads were soggy, pickles tasted bad, chicken shawarma wasn’t the best and took one bite of the lamb shawarma and tossed it out. If I didn’t live a half hour away I would have taken it back.

2019-05-28One of the best Mediterranean restaurants I have been so far. We went for lunch and ordered hummus ( comes with pita) to start with. The hummus was smooth and usual. However, I would give them full marks just for their house baked pita. Those look like small breads, fresh fluffy and right out from the oven. Those were so soft and tasty that we all ate a lot. The server was nice enough to give us another basket full of those delights. For the main course I probably ordered mixed platter shawarma or something ( cannot remember 🙄), which was another gem. The beef slices cooked nicely with spices and herbs accompanied with rice ( topped with crunchy pine nuts). The dish comes with an option of soup / salad. I took the lentil soup which was so comforting and big in amount that after finishing those ( with some previous pita) I was full. I took most of my main course food in a Togo box for my dinner 😂. I would definitely recommend the place

2022-02-06The food, great. The service, horrible. We order here all the time and spend $100 minimum every time and the woman that answers is always rude. We ordered 12oz of garlic sauce & they forgot it. We came back to get some and the guy wanted to tell me “I don’t lie and I don’t like to be lied to” I’m sorry but why would I lie about GARLIC SAUCE? And then on top of that charges me for it and told me he gave me a “discount” for driving in the snow over 15 minutes away.
