The UPS Store in other cities:
When I brought my amazon return into the store, I was told by assistant Manager Ron Matyssek that quote “amazon lied” when they told me that I could return items for free at the ups store. I was charged nearly $20 for a box for my return. Disgusting behavior. If I had another option for the return I would have used it.
I went to this UPS store yesterday and was serviced by the owner, Kristin Howard. I was shipping laptops to Mexico, so it was a bit of a complicated task, but Kristin helped me find the most affordable way to ship the laptops to my family and had an amazing attitude and helpfulness through all of it! Kristin even stayed late after the store closed to help me with my shipment. She was amazing and the store did great work all-around. Thank you so much for making the holiday of my nieces and nephews special. They will get some nice laptops to do their homework with because of you and your help!
I love this UPS store. I have never had such a good experience with a UPS store or any store that involves packages. Every time I go I specifically look for David. He is so helpful and kind and truly brightens my day! He really knows what he is doing and does not judge me or treat me poorly when I am confused. He always has a smile on his face! He is an efficient worker. Thank you!
I go to the UPS store 5281. Each time I go there Kaleb always helps me. I am so bad with printing ,copying ,downloading ,and printing labels but hes always so nice and so friendly. He makes sure that everything I do is done correctly ,and doesnt rush me through my packages. I actually look forward to going there just to see Kaleb. He takes all the stress out of everything I have to do. He even takes time to teach me.Thank you Kaleb for your excellent service
Our company routinely uses this UPS store for a variety of printing needs, and we are always pleased! Our usual customer service person, Candice, has terrific recommendations for our varying print jobs, and she communicates well and is quite responsive. We are very happy to have discovered this store a couple of years ago, and we remain dedicated, happy customers.
I had the privilege of Preston helping me yesterday when I came in to the store. Preston was kind, knowledgeable, professional, and courteous. Good customer service is not something that you come across on a regular nowadays. Preston showed me that there are still people that truly put forth an effort in their occupation. I hope that Preston is receiving the acknowledgment for his amazing worth work ethic, Im definitely happy to acknowledge him now. Thank you Preston :-)
This is probably one of the worst delivery experiences I’ve had in a while…the updates from my tracking and verification from the employee says my package has been sitting for 5 days still undelivered. I called yesterday to ask if I can instead pick up the package, but was lied to and told it would be delivered yesterday, yet still has not arrived. The contents were going to be used to celebrate my birthday, which I now unfortunately won’t be able to do.
I brought in a dozen donuts and Birthday card for my Dad to send to him in Florida. The very nice girl had things handled in less than 5 minutes. Dad recieved his package early and said the donuts were packaged very well and he loved them! Excellent service! Thank you.
I visited the UPS Store #5281 in Ypsilanti today to have some documents scanned as one pdf file to email. I was greeted by MATT who was very helpful and knowledgeable in getting the job done efficiently. All other staffers were pleasant, also. I will definitely use this UPS Store again. A+++++
Edit:There seems to be new employees at this store. Each time that Ive gone in the worker there, Preston, is indifferent and unhelpful. He barley acknowledges that Im there. And does little to make me feel as though my business is wanted. I asked if this place was under new management (again) as the two young men that used to work here are now gone and have been replaced with this person. Each time Ive left this location I ask myself why I keep going. Im now looking for another place for my shipping needs.OLD REVIEW:I love this store, its the only one that I go to for all of my shipping needs. There are two workers there, Im particularly impressed by. Mike, and Jalen. These two young men are always ready and willing to help. They are always there with a friendly greeting and ready to help you figure out what needs to be done. As previous reviewers have noted this store is tremendously efficient. The best thing about this store is its open when they say theyll be open! I believe that its under new management, within the last few years and it shows!
I had a return to drop off and some heavy books to ship. All employees were wearing masks. The manager (Mike was his name I believe) who helped me was great. He had me all checked out and ready to go in under 60 seconds and the price and arrival date were both very reasonable for a 10lb package two nights before christmas. I also got to witness a rude elderly woman scream, curse, and threaten several employees because they would not pack and ship her items for free. They handled it like real professionals, even though theres no way they get paid enough to deal with her nonsense. Keep it up guys!
I had generated a label on the UPS website, as their direct rates are better than the store. I called the store to ask if they could print the label. The person on the phone said We can print it out if you have the tracking number. So I go to the store this morning to have the label printed and inform the person there that I have to print off a label that I made on the UPS website. She took it upon herself to tell me, in detail, why I should have gotten the label from them even though the LAST thing I want to do in a pandemic is spend more time in a retail store than I have to. Irritating, but I get it, you need to make money, too. Fine. Then I find out I have to use their computer and print the label myself. I log in and am asked to swipe my credit card, which I thought might link me up to my UPS information to get my label. Nope. I have to log in to my own personal email using THEIR computer and print the PDF myself. I go to my email address and the label isnt there, as I printed it out directly from the UPS site. I asked the person working and they told me to email them the label and theyll print it themselves, which I greatly appreciate. I go to log out of their computer I find that they are charging me $2 to LOOK AT MY OWN EMAIL. I was not warned ahead of time that there would be a cost before logging in. So it went from Oh yeah, come on in and well take care of it! to You have to do it all yourself and itll cost you money AND were going to be personally disappointed at you for not getting the label from us.Poor communication on their part. I appreciate the help, but if I had known it would be a fiasco that cost me money, I would have printed the label elsewhere and taken the package directly to a UPS facility, cutting out the UPS store entirely. I dont think Ill be coming back to this UPS store location.
I was on my way to this store to pack and ship and important package. It was 5:58 p.m. and I was sitting in traffic a couple miles away. The store closes at 6:00 p.m. I called to verify the closing time. Kristen answered and told me, “Just come. I’ll take care of it for you.” While I waited, I observed another customer need to pay but not have her wallet with her. The cost was less than $4. I offered to pay the fee for the other customer, but again Kristen stepped in and offered to take care of it. While I don’t expect any business to give stuff away for free, I witnessed two back-to-back examples Kristen’s kindness and willingness to pay it forward. What a pleasant thing to experience!
I went to this place twice in last two days. I found all the employees working here extremely helpful and welcoming to everyone who visited the store.Kristin (the store owner) - was very helpful with properly notarizing my documents. A stamp was made in a wrong place and she happily corrected it for me for no additional charge. The next day I went to drop off my package. Jen was the one to help. She called me to inform I forgot my original document under the copy machine. Glad I didnt misplace it.After I dropped off my package, I figured I had missed to put a barcode on the package. I later called in and Kirk was very kind to help me out. He printed a barcode for me and put it on my package without me needing to go to the store. They all went out of the way to help me! Highly recommend this place.
By far the best UPS store I have ever been to in the US. Have been to dozens if not more UPS stores. The two gentlemen working today helped with the shipment of about 10 large items/boxes. Everything went smoothly, they were accommodating, reasonable and extremely respectful. Its the kind of customer service you just dont see anymore, anywhere. I dont know how this particular UPS store did it, but they have truly stepped it up. Setting a good tone and reputation for the company.
Charged almost $20 for one box! On top of that, the employee (Preston) acted like it was a chore for him to sell me a box, demanding that I pay with a card to make sure that he didnt have to do as much work. The employee was extremely upset that he had to sell me a box to ship a package, and was rude the entire time, throwing paper around and acting rude.$20 for ONE box is absurd, when you can get one triple the size at Home Depot for less than $2.I am extremely dissatisfied with the service, price and experience I received.
The young gentleman David is someone I’ve dealt with for awhile now. He left for a bit and told me about how he was working on a COVID mission. I’m glad he’s back. To say he makes my day better is an understatement. He doesn’t treat his work like a job and seems happy to be there. Everyone at the store is great, but he’ll be the reason I drive a little further to drop and ship my packages off at this store.
I’ve been having trouble with deliveries and so far UPS is the only one to get it right!! Today I had a large package coming so I asked the driver if he’d be willing to bring it around back to make it easier for me...he then offered to bring it up on my deck! I really appreciated it, it was kinda heavy and I don’t think I could have moved it on my own!
Amazing service. Kristina was very generous and gave me a discount and got my package shipped so it would arrive in 2 days at half the price. Ever since the store has gone under new owners customer service and satisfaction has increased marvoulusly. Much pleased with my visit.
In our fast paced world, we tend to move quickly and dont really provide consideration to how others are often feeling but thats not what happened when I went to this UPS store for a printout. Even though the attendant who catered to my request was pregnant, she still had a smile on her face and was quite polite. Even though I was in a rush to get back to work, her smile did make my day feel better and she went out of her way to assist everyone who came to the UPS Store. I dont write many reviews but I felt this was a story that did affect me and should be known by anyone who would visit the store.
Truly exceptional service - they go above and beyond. When a supplier shipped a couple of boxes late, they didnt arrive in time for me to pick up on my way through Ypsilanti. I wasnt aware that the packages were shipped, and this store patiently held the packages for several weeks. Instead of just returning them, they contacted the shipper, who contacted me. Jaylin (sp? sorry) was fantastic - shipping the packages at very reasonable cost to another The UPS Store closer to my home. This store is terrific! However, be aware that UPS Stores are independently owned and operated - pay attention to the reviews!
Though it was not the worst experience with previous owner , the new owner really knows about customer service. UPS stores are franchise stores with standard rates but customer service and presentation need not be standard. The new owner has made sure employees are friendly , professional, helpful and know their work. They even have a large format printing service apart from shipping your packages. Parking and access is not difficult but limited .
Came in with my husband to ship a couple of packages. The owner greeted us, asked what we needed, and took care of everything just as asked. He was extremely quick, helpful, and friendly. We received an email with our tracking numbers and we were good to go. Definitely will return here for any of my shipping needs.
The UPS Store and its owners Kristen and Kirk have been and continue to be supportive of my business needs. They helped my with my new business cards, including the design, that turned out great! I also am planning on having them print a placard/flyer to promote my added services and am very confident they will do a great job for me.
The service was very helpful and precise, I really needed this package to get where it needed to be and Kaleb sure of all my options and help me come up with the best way for me to go. Thanks again this is the 2nd time that Kaleb has helped me with my shipping issues.
I wouldnt normally write a review for something like a UPS Store but this one definitely earned a positive 5 stars. Entering this store I had expectations of an experience similar to a post office or SOS office and I knew from the immediate friendly greeting that I was wrong. I was so pleased to see that what could have been such a mindless and boring business transaction turned out to be so much more. After the greeting, (from whom I regretfully forgot her name) the employee/new owner was extremely helpful with my shipping needs. She was engaging in conversation that made it feel like a small-town locally-owned business. She was eager to point out that they offered other services that could be useful to me in the future for a non-profit we had discussed. All together great experience and I will definitely pursue for future services. Thanks!
Ive gone to the UPS store on Carpenter a few times in the last year and have been very pleased with the service Ive received there. Most recently, I ordered new business cards. Im a photographer and I put some of my images on the reverse side of the card. Its very important for them to represent the work I do well. Steve, their graphic designer, was extremely helpful through the process and they turned out a lot better than the last batch I ordered from a popular on-line company.
I really love them! I always have the best experience when I visit. If it for shipping, returns, or packaging they are the best!Im in and out every time no waiting in line. And theyre conveniently placed not too far from where I live.If its your first time sending a package dont worry theyll handle itand take you step by step through the process!I trust no one but them!
Helpful, attentive employees every time. I bring in some large packages and they are always really helpful and never complain about hefting them around. Super great. FYI, the UPS ground pickup is at 5:30 so be sure to arrive before then if you have a shipment that needs to go out same day.
I came here back in June for notary services because theyre closer than my bank and had hours that worked for my schedule. The young man was nice enough that helped me, and I assumed everything was good to go when I left (I wish I had known how much it cost BEFOREHAND, however).Turns out the documents I had notarized were all done incorrectly. $30 down the drain. Im sure theyre great for your shipping needs, but if youre advertising a service like notarizing legal documents, make sure your staff know what theyre doing.
Red-haired man at the counter today was the most unprofessional and rude customer service person I’ve encountered. Was no help and was extremely mean. I asked him to ship something that was apparently too complicated and told me to go to the post office. Won’t be coming back.
The friendliest staff one could ask for. Walked in just to drop off a package to my girlfriend in FL, I left now with the intention to have an anniversary canvas picture of us made in the near future. The power couple owners and knowledgeable, fun employees that grace this building are reason enough just to stop in and say Hi, so if your in the area, stop in to you friendly neighborhood UPS. Highly recommenced 10/10.
Had to send a couple of items for buiness and semi-business purposes. For the first time, I called in earlier to make sure something, and the owner, John was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Right after the first visit, I had other 3 packages needed to be sent. I came back to him and asked to pack and send them out. There may not be so much special about the service in general, but I like/trust the service here (FYI, I have USPS and FedEx related stores nearby, but I chose this one).
Was treated rather poorly by the Operations Manager, Steve. Who also apparently fields the complaints at this branch, as he was even rude with his response to my email complaint. I would recommend a different branch or the fedex down the street to avoid the poor customer service and negative attitude at this UPS Store. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, Steve.
This has been my go-to UPS store for years as it’s close to my work. Very little wait and service is always top-notch. They even helped with shipping a parcel on a holiday when they’re supposed to be closed. Now I use them even when there are other options closer to me.
My husband dropped off two packages on 1/16/2016. One of the packages never made it into the UPS system. My husband returned to the UPS Store to inquire about any shipping issues that may have occurred and the person suggested that we submit a claim to UPS. However, because UPS said it was never entered into their system, they can/will not do anything about it. The package was finally processed by the vendor 20+ days after it was shipped. Not sure where the issue was - with the UPS store, UPS or the vendor. Lesson learned: make sure you always get a receipt when dropping off packages.
The guy that was working was super aggressive and made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I was informed by Amazon to put both of the ups tracker on the box. He got very angry and I had to tell him to settle down. He kept telling me I was wrong. He was getting loud with me and it was embarrassing with other customers in the store. I dont think I will be back to this store.
I went here a few times to only send mail and have some letters notarized....I loved that they had someone there to notarize my letters right when they opened. Other places only have the service at certain times. It was very much appreciated. And also the courteous service. There are a ton of places in Ann Arbor where the service is no more than a cave mans grunt so it is very welcoming and refreshing when they were courteous. Thank you!
Yes, I am a customer. I have been shipping computer parts for 40 years. The lady with the notery, I dont believe that was part of UPS and the notery is probably an out side service. This is a family owned busines. All who works there are friendly, polite and respectful. Very willing to help.
My experience has been very similar to that of others who have posted here.First, the owners hours are very unpredictable. There have been numerous times when Ive either stopped by or called during business hours, only to learn that that the store was closed for some unknown reason. Second, the prices are completely unreasonable! He charges you $2-3 to tape up a box, whereas all of the other UPS Stores in the area do this for free. I recently had to buy a 16 cubed box, and he charged me $15 for the box and packing fee - not including return postage (since I already had a prepaid postage label; moreover, he claimed to have given me a discount, stating that he normally charges $20). This would be somewhat justifiable if I was trying to ship something extremely fragile requiring careful packing, but I was returning a large plastic item that he simply had to place inside the box with no packing peanuts, bubble tape, or other type of padding. I was in a rush so, against my better judgment, I paid his exorbitant fee, but I called another UPS Store in Ann Arbor on my drive home, and was told that they would have charged $7.95 for the same service. Its safe to say that Im never giving John my business again.
Terrible service, never go to this place.Owner John doesnt know how to treat customers, I took the address where it needs to be shipped he asks me to spell out the address where as the address is in-front of him , when I spell out he wants me to repeat it! He is crazy and charges heavily, just for a simple 3lb of worth 20$ items he says the shipping would be 38$ for Indiana insane! he need to learn some manners and customer service before he does the business.STAY AWAY from this STORE.
Made an online appointment to meet with the notary. Show up for my appointment on time only to be told the notary wasnt there. I even received the reminder email as I was standing there. I was offered no solutions to this issue only a shrug and an apology. Poor excuse and poor customer service. Wont ever be seeing a penny from me.
While trying to get details for my package, my two Littles were playing around with the door to the garbage. The owner so he called himself got after them for it. He has no right to scold someone elses kids. I told him so and he said well in My store I can do whatever I want. So I took my business elsewhere.
That’s how it started:I approached the door carrying boxes, one if the staff was working by the door, who never tried to help. I said maybe he didn’t see me. Let it go.However, a mailing office without automatic door makes no sense what so ever, most of the customers hands are full.Second, I said I didn’t print could you scan my barcode from my phone and charge me? He said no, I can’t, it won’t work, even though he did before. However, I said maybe rules changed, but he didn’t need to bring up a lie for it.Third, I sign in to his computer, that he start charging you by default 2$ plus tax on top of the extra time you take. That’s NEW. I said, it is my mistake I didn’t print, I will have to pay, he also, didn’t tell me that he is charging me one dollar for each return on top of everything. So I log in, and his internet doesn’t work, get disconnected or something I have no idea, but I’m in my email address to print but his computer froze, so I said I’m having this issue, he says I didn’t have issues all day not sure. He walks away. Never tred to help or figure it out. So I logout and my bill printed back to his office printer and pick it up and put it away, I said is that my receipt? He said yes.. I said ok, are you going to give me it?Absolutely bad customer service, he give it to me.... and doesn’t try to offer anything.I know one thing, I will never go back ever again. Not about the money, it’s about the horrible customer service and not care at all.
Weve been doing business with this store for years for all of our small business needs. Kirk, Steve, and the rest of the staff are all totally professional and go above and beyond to help with anything we need. I couldnt recommend them highly enough for help with your small business.

2022-07-07Arrived at 6:30 to return cable equipment before I got charged for it and they had the doors locked. Two workers inside wouldnt bother to come to the door to say that they closed early. I had to wait for a customer from a different store to come out and tell me that they closed early. Why have business hours if you dont follow them?

2022-07-12Not a good place for notary services! They refused to notarize my documents since it was in foreign language and they referred me to the county clerk office which requires appointments ahead but I got my documents notarized in a notary public office very fast and easy.

2021-03-25The staff did a great job of keeping the line moving. They were practicing social distance and were all wearing their masks properly. Kaleb was knowledgeable, courteous and friendly. He was a huge help and very patient with me being I have never returned a product from Amazon before and also shipped a package for the first time through UPS today. He answered all of my questions and was such a delight to have an interaction with. I appreciate good customer service and the store and Kaleb were top notch for me today. Thank you!

2021-12-21Beware the Ups store on carpenter stoles package!!!I have my package hold at ups store on 4007 carpenter rd, ypsilanti, mi 48197. Both items are from ship and sold by Amazon and delivery by ups. They are one week apart. Sometime I don’t pick up my package right away. I was busy I picked up the package after 2-3 days. Both my Amazon envelope was ripped open and nothing inside. Ups employee told me package come like this. They let me sign for receive the package then tell me the package was empty. Now I can’t refuse the package. They give me the incorrect Amazon customer service phone number as well. They let me deal with this situation. The store employee won’t even willing to verify the package was empty with me on the phone with Amazon customer care. The 1st time it happened Amazon give me the credit back right away. Now it’s the second time in a month they have to investigate and now I have to find another Christmas gift.

2021-03-23Zach was great! Quick, personable, and efficient. I have appreciated this UPS Stores covid precautions and enforcement. I have been in there on cold days when people from the line outside tried to sneak in in excess of the capacity limit and the employees have spoken up about it and asked people to step back outside and respect the policies. Their service is always prompt and timely, so no one is ever waiting long. I feel safe using this UPS Store and all of my transactions have gone smoothly.
