I debated writing this review but after reading similar reviews and unsuccessfully trying to resolve issues with Carrie of Touch of Elegance, I feel like people thinking about working with TOE need to be cautioned.We met a number of planners and ended up choosing TOE because of Carrie’s convincing experience and that she happened to be a former classmate of my husband so we assumed we were in good hands. She connected us to a number of wonderful vendors who were absolutely amazing, however, approximately 6 weeks prior to our wedding Carrie went radio silent. Despite multiple emails, texts and voicemails we heard nothing and had to move forward with changing all of our schedules around to plan and coordinate things on our own.Approximately 3 weeks prior to our wedding, we received an email from Carrie stating that she was sorry she had been MIA but didn’t have access to email or a phone but was ready to work. At this point though all of our vendors had already stepped up and finalized details with us. We notified her of our disappointment and violation/termination of our contract and requested arefund which she agreed to. Over the course of the next month we sent multiple emails & texts following up on the refund and received no response. We sent a final email explaining that if we did not receive our money back in 48 hours we would report her to the BBB, no response. I filed the complaint and an hour later she “refunded” the money to my mother’s credit card.After waiting 14 business days per Square’s policy we saw that the money was still not refunded. We went back and checked Square’s policy and if a refund request is submitted 120 days after the transaction Square will not refund it. We followed up again with Carrie after this and have still not received any follow-up.I would SERIOUSLY CAUTION anyone considering working with TOE, as it is clear they have now on a number of occasions potentially ruined one of the most important days of couple’s lives adding undo stress and burden to an already stressful but should be joyous time
The owner Carrie stole my money and will probably steal yours too. I paid in full up front to save 10%. BIG MISTAKE. I ended up being forced to cancel my wedding. Every other vendor was sympathetic and refunded everything but the deposits quickly. Not Carrie. It took WEEKS to even get a response, then she promised to refund my money, less the deposit. But the refund never came. I called and emailed for months to no avail. Then she changed her office number. I even resorted to contacting a venue associated with her to ask if they knew how to reach her and even they said she was known for not returning calls. Finally I left a bad review in the comments on her Instagram page and her assistant respond to my email but I still dont have my refund a year later. She also did nothing to help me prior to the cancellation except one phone call and one walk through at the venue which I scheduled and coordinated. What a waste. Totally unprofessional. Youre better off doing it yourself if you cant spend the money for a real planner.
Jasmine and Carrie are true masters of their craft. While I wanted to do all of the planning- they allowed the freedom of choosing a day of package that truly let me relax and enjoy getting married. I could not have survived the day without them! We had one crisis- and they easily averted it, making sure we stayed calm and so so so happy. I cant thank them enough for giving me the opportunity to experience our marriage without worry!
I have been a contracted Lead Wedding Planner for Touch of Elegance Events and Designs LLC since mid-spring 2018. In November 2018, I relocated to Atlanta, Georgia to serve as Lead Planner for Touch of Elegance Atlanta. Since being in Atlanta, I’ve only worked two weddings due to Carrie Gentry (the owner of the company) being extremely inconsistent and hard to get in touch with to receive payment for my services. I’ve gotten numerous calls from clients & other contracted planners dealing with the same issue. As a client, this lady will talk an amazing game during initial contact, ultimately to swindle you out of a deposit. Once that’s paid, good luck hearing from her! You will be bombarded with excuse after excuse to why she hasn’t been answering any calls or emails once she finally does answer. Some couples have even pulled out from working with her because of her poor communication and scammish ways, expecting a full refund. Unfortunately, it’s never as easy as it should be! She will ignore you for days, weeks even and then offer a refund in a way in which you did not initially make payment. As a Planner/Intern, please listen to me and run! I repeat, run!!!! I recently did a wedding on 09/07/2019, that I only did out of morality because I really needed the extra money and have yet to receive my payment. Today is 09/13/2019 and the couple paid their balance 08/31/2019. I have texted, called, emailed, even left comments on Facebook (along with another planners affiliated with Touch of Elegance) & still no response! I have begged in pleaded with her, even giving her personal insight to why I’m so dependent on this payment right now and no type of empathy, care or concern was shown as I’m still being blatantly ignored. I’m writing this today to help prevent those from making the same mistake I made trusting this fraud! Please potential couples, save your time and heartache and book elsewhere! Do not pay attention to the past positive comments. Read updated reviews!
I was a client. They promises a lot before you sign the contract. After that, they will never reply your texts or emails, no regular meetings, always busy during weekends for other “weddings “, waiting for days to get texts back, sometimes even nothing back.Don’t choose them, it’s totally a waste of time and money!
I have similar experience like the other people have bad reviews for TOE!!! Carrie pretended to be an angle when for fist couple meetings and after you signed the contract, you disappeared forever. Dont choose her and let her ruin you big day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2022-01-20I booked Touch of Elegance for month of wedding planning. I worked directly with Carrie and she went above and beyond to help with the planning including helping me to direct my design and wedding vision and she booked a couple of vendors and shopped around to the best quote! During the weekend of my wedding, Carrie was super helpful in setting up and tearing down the decor, coordinating all of our vendors and making sure our day ran smoothly.I noticed a couple of the other reviews mention lack of responsiveness. I experienced this slightly when trying to communicate via email. I found that Carrie was super helpful when I was able to schedule a call through a link that she provided after I was a client.Overall I would recommend Carrie as a planner and event designer. She was able to help the weekend run smoothly and was helpful in creating a vision of the event!

2022-01-05Carrie was very attentive and was able to deliver just as we wanted and dreamed for our daughter’s beautiful wedding! So easy to work with and everything went so well and smooth! Highly recommend!

2022-06-30Touch of Elegance has been just terrible to work with. Our initial call with Carrie went fantastic. She mentioned that she would follow up and had completely disappeared for about 3 weeks. No communication or whatsoever. Trying to get a hold of her or someone at the company is almost imposible. This was after paying our down payment deposit. I understand they maybe busy, but I really hope someone is able to rectify and work with the clients they take on.For future planners, be very careful when booking this company for wedding planning. I should have read other reviews which were quite similar experience as mine.I will update this review if I get a follow up call from someone at this wedding planning company.

2022-01-06Carrie and her assistant really went above and beyond for our wedding. Carrie scheduled monthly check-ins with me but also was available for any emergency calls. I spend the entire reception of my wedding worry free because Carrie took lead in working with all our vendors so everything went off without a hitch - truly! I dont know how many brides can say that. Would highly recommend her to any bride in the DMV area.

2021-10-13We booked Carrie for my daughters wedding that was suppose to be in May of 2020. Unfortunately COVID had different plans. It was a roller coaster ride with all the planning and replanning and replanning again, however Carrie was amazing through it all. She was always very responsive and very helpful with all our questions. When it came down to the day of the wedding she was on top of her game. When an issue arose she took care of it all. We are very happy with our experience and would book her again in a heart beat.

2019-12-06First of all - Ive never written a google review. But this one must be posted. I have been in business for 32 years - Ive worked with many vendors. I really wanted to make this work with Carrie. She seemed authentic and caring. It was so important to me that our daughters wedding was perfect and everything she wanted. So six months into our contract when we were not getting any response from Carrie - either by phone, email or text, I looked at her reviews again. Thats when I saw she was doing the same to other paying customers. No answer to texts and emails, excuses upon excuses. My biggest mistake was that I paid Carrie *up front* for everything -- full service wedding planning. She agreed to refund half of our $6,400. We were to receive it mid-September. Our attorney sent demand letters, we sent emails and texts. To no avail. Everything went unanswered. She kept the $3200. My advice is plain and simple -- Do NOT do business with Carrie Gentry.

2019-11-12I thought long about writing this review but I feel others need to be informed. I booked Carrie in July of 2018 and my wedding was scheduled for May 2019. After speaking to Carrie on the phone I felt an immediate connection to her and she was very helpful with different ideas for venue locations. This was all even before hiring her. After shopping around I decided Carrie was a great choice from her reviews and like I said, instant connection when speaking. I hired Carrie for Month/Day of coordination and I was so excited. After making my deposit I didnt hear from her. She never reached out to check in, never provided a checklist or any sort of assistance I can follow along on my own leading up to the wedding. She did tell me about the planning pod website she has for her clients but when I logged on there was nothing for me to do on it. I thought.. ok well Im only hiring her for month of so maybe thats when she really starts to help? Well by December, I thought I should check in to see if Im on track and to figure out this planning pod website. I emailed and called and didnt hear back. Giving her the benefit of the doubt that it was around the holidays and she may have other weddings shes working with, I let it go. After the new year I reached out again asking for a phone meeting which we had. During the meeting we went over a loose timeline I had already figured out with my photographer and she also talked me through the planning pod website which suddenly had things for me to do. I asked her if I was using it wrong and she said no she hadnt set it up yet. So little frustrating because this is stuff I could have been working on when I had free time. As we started getting closer to the wedding and I still hadnt heard from her. I met with my florist multiple times and during that time they asked me about my planner and how things were going and when I said we were 2 months out and I still hadnt heard from Carrie she said I should start calling. I called and emailed and no response. I got to one month out when Carries contract started and I did not hear from her until I emailed first. She replied with She was in the process of emailing me. I think at one month out we should have had a meeting scheduled. We didnt. She said she would be in touch and she wasnt. After multiple calls and emails from me I FINALLY got in touch with Carrie. I was 3 weeks out from my wedding at this point and freaking out. I was extremely stressed and wondering where my planner was. Feeling very frustrated that Carrie was so hard to get in touch with and had done nothing to help me at this point I decided to go our separate ways. I was able to find a day of coordinator right after and immediately I was sent checklists, guidelines, spreadsheets, things they told me they send to their clients the day they book, which for me would have been months ago. Luckily I happen to be organized and figured stuff out on my ow but these tools could have alleviated a lot of my stress. Carrie also told me should would give me a full refund and send it immediately. 2 weeks passed and I had not received my refund. After numerous calls, emails, and mention of reporting her to the BBB she offered to VENMO me the money...so unprofessional and more stress that was added on so close to my wedding. I just want others to be aware of what your money can actually get you and what you deserve. It doesnt have to be as difficult as it was for me.

2018-04-24My wedding day was absolutely amazing and I never could have pulled it all together without the assistance of Carrie and Touch of Elegance. Their professionalism and planning expertise allowed me to relax and enjoy the day knowing that everything was going be handled with the highest level of care.When my hired florist pulled a disappearing act less than 6 weeks away from my wedding date, Carrie came through with a vendor who exceeded my expectations on short notice and thankfully within my budget. That was worth the fee by itself.My guests had a blast, everything was beautiful and Im so thankful that any issues were handled quickly, discreetly, and professionally. Thank you so much for taking the stress of the day off of me so that I could just enjoy the magic of the wedding.

2019-07-12Carrie and her team at Touch of Elegance are a force to be reckoned with - talented, prompt, calm, and professional. I cannot begin to share all of the ways in which Carrie improved (and saved) our wedding. I recommend her services to anyone who is considering hiring a day-of-coordinator for their wedding. We were married on June 8th, 2019 at the Belle Isle Boat House. The venue is unique and beautiful, but difficult in many ways - you have to bring in everything from tables and chairs to decor. We booked the venue before hiring Carrie, so on our second visit to the venue, we began to get very nervous about our ability to pull off the wedding ... but then we met Carrie. She had solutions to ALL of our questions and concerns. Moreover, even though we only hired her as a day-of-coordinator, she gave us lots of tips during the planning process. On the day of the wedding, the outside of the Boat House flooded. Thats right, flooded. AND the elevator was broken. But once again, Carrie and her team led the charge to save the wedding. We sent all of the groomsmen to be her minions and she put them to work. She re-jigged the ceremony layout, got as much of the decor set-up as possible, and honestly saved our wedding. Our friends and family are still talking about how awesome our wedding was - thank you in part to Carrie and Touch of Elegance.
