Very few amenities, and almost no common spaces in the hotel. Staff was friendly, but no more so than would be expected. Room was clean and functional. The location is definitely suburban. Dont expect to get anywhere from this hotel without a car. The sidewalks end at the edge of the hotel property.
My husband and I were more than satisfied with our experience at TownePlace Suites Detroit Sterling Heights. The staff member who registered us and was also working at the desk the following day was very helpful. He was authentically friendly, gave us some good tips about travel and showed us the wealth of travel magazines available. The morning grab-n-go breakfast was very good and exactly what we needed to start the day. The room was neat as was the kitchenette, and all the amenities more than met our needs. We will be coming to Clinton Township in the future to visit relatives. We will definitely stay at TownePlace Suites the next time we are in town.
I enjoyed my stay at the TownPlace Suites. The location is prime, as there is a mall across the street, along with plenty of shopping in the immediate area. The staff is very friendly as well and accommodated my request for the first floor. The rooms are roomy with very large closets and a small kitchenette. At the time, the continental breakfast was very good with a large selection. I plan to stay here if ever in the area again.
Room was clean at check in. I dont have any issues and theyve been very accomadating. Front desk people are pretty friendly, from the woman when i checked in to the very handsome man when i needed to reactivate my keys due to my stay being extended. Mostly through my 31 day stay here for work and if im ever back for work ill stay here!
We stayed at Townplace to celebrate my wifes birthday. We didnt want to eat at a restaurant, so we got carry out and ate in our room. It was really nice to have the full size refrigerator and kitchen in the room. The room was very quiet and relaxing. We had a great stay.
Cleanliness of my first room was poor. The mattress and couch had many stains. No person would have wanted to sleep on them after seeing that. Had to be given a new room and had to pack up our things and move again which was very inconvenient. We recleaned our new room because of COVID and couldnt trust the cleaning practices of the hotel seeing what our first room looked like. I have given it a fair review because of the staff otherwise it would have been rated poor.
We arrived around 30 minutes prior to check-in time, and the woman at the desk claimed none of the rooms had been cleaned. We made the trip from two states away, and she instructed us to come back later. While she was relaying this information to us, she was rude and snippy. When we returned, I asked for two keys to the door, and she would only give me one. When I asked why, she claimed she did not have another one.At this time, I asked about being eligible for a Marriott Bonvoy or senior discount, and she waived my question off and instructed me to pay the rate she presented. Rather than talk to me, she dismissed my question and told me, this is your rate.My first evening in the room, I went to bed around 10pm, and I noticed the hideaway bed I pulled out had no bedding. I attempted to call the front desk at this time, and the phone didnt work. I attempted to visit the office, but no one was there. The following day, I made a casual complaint to one of the cleaners in the hallway (since he was one of the only people I could find or even talk to), and he explained he was aware of the phone not working, but he politely provided me with additional bedding for the hideaway bed.At one point, one of us noticed the top of the kitchen cabinets (Room 230) had several food items laying around. Someone left small packages of food (little jelly and butter packets) on TOP of the cabinets. Were not sure how long they had been there, but we can tell no one cleaned up there. My second night - we encountered a family emergency and needed to leave around 11pm. I visited the office with my door key card and attempted to notify someone that I needed to check out early. I attempted to call out for someone, but no one was there again. I left a small note along with my key card, indicating who I was and that I needed to leave early.
Nasty frozen pizza from previous guests still raw and in the oven! Not given the room booked. Then not even given the promised connecting rooms. Dirty hair in the bathrooms. Knobs missing on closet doors. Terrible hotel. Definitely not what I expect from a Marriott.
I am from Canada and I stayed at the Towne place suits in Sterling Heights in 2017 and many times before that , and I remember that I had made a comment about having neat and freshly folded towels to one of the staff, her name was Vanessa when she opened the linen closet to get me a few sets I had never seen a neater linen closet anywhere in my life, now thatβs important because when I would stay there in the past they never had enough towels and face cloths, but Miss Vanessa said they had a new lady in laundry.......Leslie she said her name was, and she was killing it. Never had a chance to thank her but Very nice hotel, enjoyed my stay and that time I had all the linen I needed.
TERRIBLE:-The staff is beyond rude, they seem like they are bothered when you speak to them. The rooms a dirty, there is so much dust in the most obvious places ( extra cleaning due to Covid?, yeah right, barely even proper cleaning outside of a pandemic ). The entire facility has garbage all over, I saw the same napkin stuffed in the buttons for the elevator for a week ( it was stuffed so hard would require a tool to remove, or I would of ). And then the rates, I book via a 3 rd party, then the hotel canceled my reservation even after I messaged the hotel directly, then I was able to book out of my pocket, was to be a locked rate, upon checking out the rates are all over the place, and 3 days later Iβm still waiting for the adjustment. Overall this facility deserves a D- at best
Room seemed clean but there was dried ketchup on the counters in the kitchen. No maid service at all. Stay was 2days. Limited breakfast. But the thing I disliked the most were the hard mattresses, We didnβt get a good night sleep while there at all. Will not return here.
Room was sub-standard at best. Window Curtain was ripped and tied, and blind was broken. Shower curtain was ripped and filthy dirty. The pieces were laying on the desk when we walked into the room. They should not have rented that room until things were fixed. Very disappointed, especially for the price we paid for mid-week!
My children and I needed a night away from home, so I booked a nights stay. It was great. My son said the pull out couch wasnβt very comfortable, but he still had a great night sleep. I loved the kitchen. Had I known it was fully equipped, I would have prepared dinner rather than ordering in. It was a clean and rather lovely. Staff was excellent as well as the breakfast. My daughter asked when we were going back lol. We will definitely do it again and will definitely stay there.
I would not recommend this location for the following reasons:Cob webs in rooms, old worn out furniture, broken chair, missing tv from room dirty shower liner and curtain, clogged shower drain. notified front desk and no one came to correct or address none of these issues. Customer service varied, there is some staff with good CS skills. Very disappointed with the service and appearance of the room. Definitely not going to return and definitely will not recommend.
We stayed at this property two years ago and had no issues but this time, we had check in issues, double billing, a room that was NOT clean. We wanted a suite so we could prepare food as everything was closed in Michigan due to the covid crisis but could not cook because the oven did nothing but billow smoke when we turned it on and no one had informed us that the utensils were all in the dishwasher. Coffee pot had old grounds and filter in it. Very disappointed in the room, the quality of the stay and the surrounding area. Room service was NOT available and there was no one on staff who could rectify the situation until the next day with the only solution was to try another room. Very disappointing and will not stay at this property again.
Yikes. Stay far far away. Online reservations were available but when we arrived we were told they ran out of keys. How does a hotel run out of keys? Furthermore, front desk agent had someone on speakerphone the entire time. The other person was guiding him through his work I guess. Extremely weird and unprofessional. Would never step foot on their property again after this experience.
Room not very clean. Bathroom floor sticky, tub drained very slowly, toilet filled extremely slowly and mirror in bathroom so old that the border was flaking off. Guest was smoking in the halls. Iβm a titanium elite and loyal Marriott member. Worst experience ever.
Broken vacuums, not able to vacuum the room, horrible upkeep in laundry room, filthy. When asking for clean towels and linens, none available and floor bath towels were given and hand towels were given for wash cloths or none were provided for days. I had to pay to wash them in the laundry room for $4 myself. Asked for them to wash the comforter and they lost it. So I had no down comforter. Asked for trash bags and I was given tiny ones for the bathroom not the kitchen because thats all they had. Upon, arrival, room was not vacuumed or cleaned . Dishes were in the dishwasher soiled. It was clear that the room wasnt cleaned and prepared for new guest. Friendly staff though.
We had a house fire on the coldest day of the year. We were relocated to this hotel and ended up staying for five months. My family was treated so well here the entire time. The rooms were clean and spacious. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. If we had any issues, we told them and every single time they were resolved the very next day. The breakfasts were very good and convenient and the breakfast area was very clean. We had to have our dogs with us and they were welcomed too! I highly recommend this hotel! It is also in a great location. Lots of stores and restaurants within walking distance. We were very thankful this was where we landed on that cold and scary night. We felt safe and comfortable the whole time. Thank you to the entire staff!
I love Marriott, I have been staying with them for years and this hotel is one I have frequented due to the proximity to my family. However, this time the property and room were not clean. The halls were dirty and had trash in them. The base boards in my room hadnβt been wiped down in quite a while. There were no linens for the pull out bed, typically no big deal, I call and get them. I had to call twice to get them. I ran out of TP and had to go to the front desk to get it. When I made my reservation I made it under a package deal (a nino salvagio gift card was supposed to come with it) staff didnβt know of the package and I never received the gift card.
Excellent hotel with great amenities. Rooms were equipped with kitchens which was very convenient if staying for a long period of time. We only stayed one night but it was a great feature. Not to mention the complimentary breakfast in the morning which made going to my conference in the morning much easier. Location was good as it was close to restaurants and the mall. I thought the lobby was a little dated and crowded but overall a great hotel.
I booked a 2 room suite in January for a week in July. When I called to confirm around two weeks before arrival I was told there were no 2 room suites so I was put into 2 studio suites. I was not happy. One of the bedrooms was for my son who is too young to be alone in a hotel room. I was told they were connecting. When asked how were there no 2 bedroom suites when I had booked one 6 months ago I kept getting told there were none. Didnβt get a straight answer when asked if my room was given to someone else. So upon arrival day I check in to find I was now booked into 1 studio. I almost lost it. After some panicking on our part and justified anger, somehow 2 studios NOT connecting came up. Now weβre still upset. (Remember younger child with us. )We were reassured they were directly across the hall from each other. Not happy but what choice do we have. Well, rooms were NOT directly across from each other and we were given wrong directions to the rooms! Like I said, not much choice now. While very clean one room smelled like someone had cooked with curry everyday,3 times a day for a month. Not an exaggeration. Luckily my son wanted that room. I was going to complain about the smell because I wouldnβt have been able to stay in there but figured what was the point. We were also told that they should have rooms opening up later in the week and they would call us to possible get connecting rooms. Still waiting for that call. So it was back and forth between rooms for sleeping, bathing and relaxing purposes for a week. NOT very convenient. IMPORTANT: Managment DID give us a very good rate for the room fiasco. That was very appreciated and deserves mention. There really wasnβt anything they could do about being βsold outβ and I understand that. I donβt know if the problem stemmed from making the reservation on line through the 800 number and not directly.
My fiance and I stayed here days leading up to our wedding ceremony and it was so beautiful. The rooms are comfortable, well maintained, and the staff was so friendly. Full kitchen with beautiful appliances are in the room and everything was very neat and clean. The grounds were peaceful and serene... such a great choice for us. We will definitely return and refer people as well.
Poor customer service. When I first check in the hotel the front desk was a mess. The woman that was waiting on us didnβt know what to do. Then when we got our room the FIRST time, they gave us an used room. Totally unacceptable. The SECOND room they gave us the room LOOKED nice but I pay attention to detail. The bed skirt was dirty, the ottoman was broke, the mirror in the bathroom was chipped, the sink in the bathroom was had dirt residue on it, the Kleenex was used and barely tissue in it, the kitchen floor was sticky, the dishes was dirty and had hair all in the drawers and the carpet felt not clean at all. After I checked out the next day they never sent me and copy of my receipt. I called to the hotel numerous of times and I didnβt get not assistance at all. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone the worst ever!!
The hotel recently opened so all was brand new. The staff could not have been more welcoming and they made my weekend stay very pleasant. Being a single woman, safety is important and I felt secure. The room accoutrements were very good and though I did not take advantage of the kitchenette, it was well stocked. The bed was terrific and all was clean. This is a very nice place to stay if Detroit is your destination.
Excellent place to stay staff is very welcoming specially Dana,Amy and not to forget Shavonna Took care all my needs welcome in with open arms always a pleasure to stay and deal with those host, Thank you for the best hospitality A plus for the record keep up the good work!!
Excellent stay for our family and friends after our wedding on 10/12/2019. We were all treated WONDERFUL and the guy who was working the counter that night was awesome. Very friendly and welcoming. We stumbled in with our bride and groom attire on, maybe a bit tipsy (lol) and he was just so sweet to us. All of my family and friends stayed here as well. I also got ready in the hotel rooms before the wedding. We got ready and stayed the night in a 2 bedroom hotel.
Hotel was filthy⦠I went for my nieces graduation open house from out of town have always been pleased with Marriott products but this was definitely an exception⦠Our rooms were absolutely filthy the toilets had poop all over them and had not been cleaned at all the rooms had not been vacuumed one of the rooms had a horrible smell like something had been burnt in the stove⦠I will never return to this hotel again
We just stayed at the Sterling Heights Michigan hotel and had a very pleasant stay. The 2 bedroom option is spacious and has a great kitchenette. The pull out bed /couch was exceptionally comfortable and I heard other guests say the same thing. Clean rooms, friendly staff and good breakfast. Would definitely stay again!
Stayed three days. Check-in was quick and the staff was very nice and professional. The room was exceptionally clean. The studio room is compact but does not feel cramped. The kitchen was clean and stocked with plate, silverware, and cookware. Had a microwave, compact refrigerator, and electric range. Other appliances were available at the desk. The bed was comfortable as was the pullout bed. There is a breakfast available from 630-930 M-F and 7-10 on weekends. This extended stay hotel was better than the other extended stays I have been at recently. It is close to shopping and there is a lot of dining options nearby. I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again.
This is a great place. My only complaints are the sounds in the hallway. Very noisy, you can hear everything from people walking down the hall, people walking in the room above yours and the plumbing. You can hear when someone takes a shower or flushes the toilet. I wish the breakfast had more of a variety. They served the same food. The fitness center only had the machines and no weights. Other than that, great place, very homey room and friendly staff.
Visited with my parents and 8 yr old daughter. We have stayed here a few times. Pool is excellent. We stayed in the 2 bedroom and the rooms were comfortable (great beds),nice sitting area, good kitchen. Staff were friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.
From the moment we arrived we fell in love with this place. Jenny greeted us when we arrived, she was friendly and helpful. If we needed anything, she was the person to ask. The facility was quaint, initially I was going to give them a 4 star rating due to the need for an update however I realized they were in the process of renovating. Our room was perfect, a corner suite with 2 bedrooms and a kitchenette, just the right size. The facility was ckean and quiet, my only complaint would have been the smoke smell downstairs at times but that was due to inconsiderate guests smoking too close to the entryways. Breakfast was awesome, Ali made sure it was always fresh and orderly. Everytime we saw Ali he smiled and said hello, he also made sure we were happy with the food. His caring attitude and attention to detail only accentuated our stay, Thanks Ali!Every person that works there was friendly and helpful, a trait that is getting harder to find in this day and age.We are trying to plan a trip back to Michigan in 2017 and would love to stay here again.
Have been here a few times in 2018, this is my third and possibly final visit. The room is nice but there isnt anything else that stands out. Breakfast is meh, Ive yet to enjoy the pool due to only being in town during colder months. The gym is not a gym, even grandma needs some light weights! Best part is I set my thermostat at 72, wake up its 66 in my room. For what its worth I dont recommend staying here, it may not be worth it for what they charge a night.
First visit to this location and to this type of property by Marriott. The staff at this location were very friendly and profession, with a quick, informed check in and my room was clean and the temperature set at a comfortable level. The breakfast bar was nice and had an adequate variety to satisfy.I will stay at this property again, and if given the option will try this type of hotel by Marriott again.
Very helpful and welcoming staff. Check in was easy.Room is very practical and has all necessary amenities. I did not use the kitchen but it is available if you are staying multiple nights. Room was very clean. Slight smell of cleaning supplies.Breakfast is light, but tasty. Many options of fruit, cereals, pastries, yogurt, etc.Parking is very easy, and the location is convenient for getting to your nearby work events.
My friend and I had our annual Christmas shopping trip to Utica. This was the first time we stayed at the Town Suites. I found the accommodation to be great value for money, centrally located, clean and comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely use it again. I would have no hesitation recommending it to my family and friends.
See previous notes - staff was amazing -- clearly ownership doesnt care -- torn carpeting, mold around bathroom fixtures, unreasonable policies (only 1 guest in workout room at a time -- even if married and staying in same guest room) only 1 cleaning per week despite winter in Michigan with salt tracked all over and eventually into the sheets. Mismatched silverware, 3 cups, 4 glasses, 3 small plates, 4 big plates -- does ownership even care???
The room I stayed in had food in the cabinet, dirty dishes in the dishwasher, clothes in the drawers , & the shower hadnβt been cleaned. I informed the front desk and nothing was done. I contacted corporate. They said send an email and someone would contact me in 5 days. Every time I contact the location, thereβs no manager on duty & they have yet to contact me back! Iβve called four times and itβs been a week since my start! Iβm disgusted with Marriott. Either they didnβt clean the room or someone came in while my wife and I were out celebrating our anniversary! I wish I had noticed this sooner. It came to my attention when I went to use the dishwasher. If I could give a 0 rating, I would!
Great hotel; room was perfect and had everything we needed, and staff was great. We used the 2 bedroom suite to get ready for a wedding we were in, and it was the perfect size. We had 5 girls all getting hair and makeup done and had plenty of space and felt comfortable. The rooms were clean, and beds were comfortable.
The TownePlace Suites are updated and clean. The breakfast area is very comfortable and the food is very good. The coffee is always fresh and the staff keep the breakfast area spotless. We enjoyed the staff, they were welcoming and helpful. We stayed 5 nights and will return next year because the hotel and the staff are the Best ! Lasharia Spearman Assistant General Manger was fantastic. She is very helpful and always has a smile.
The location of this TownePlace Suites hotel is excellent. It is near shopping, stores and restaurants. We liked the 2-bedroom suite and felt it was very reasonably priced for the amenities of the room. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Caleb was especially noteworthy as a friendly, helpful staff member. We would stay here again anytime we are in the area.
Our insurance company recommended TownePlace Suites when we were displaced from our home after pipes broke and caused a massive amount of damage to the interior of our home. I was a great recommendation. The hotel is very nice and includes a laundry room and exercise room. Our 2 bedroom suite was clean and comfortable and had many of the basics needed in the kitchen for cooking and eating. The bedrooms were comfortable and the beds were great. The staff at this location are terrific. They are kind, concerned and extremely accommodating.
I was searching for a unicorn - pet friendly hotel with multi-room accessible suites and full kitchen -- and found it here! Staff was excellent all the way through the process. Suites were clean and well furnished. We were able to prepare and enjoy our Thanksgiving feast in comfort. Highly recommend and well return whenever were in the area.
Our first stay at the TownePlace Detroit Sterling Heights was surprisingly pleasant. We arrived late and were quickly given our room. The staff were very helpful and courteous. Room was clean, bed comfortable and well organized, except for TV which sat on a stand near bed which could have easily been knocked over. Kitchenette was very clean and well maintained.Only concern we had was that the overall quality of the breakfast was not the best for my expectation from a Marriott and the breakfast room was small and could not handle people that wee entering in the morning.Nevertheless, I would highly recommend it and would stay there again in the future.
The stay was very pleasant and without issue. I appreciate the cleaning staff was very professional performing their daily cleaning and front staff were very friendly as well. The outside pool was a little gross with stuff floating in the bottom, but the room kitchen was my main concern and it made up for the lack of a pool. Thank you.
Nice clean and quite hotel, great breakfastKitchens are stocked with all amenities needed to cook. Daily housekeeping. Great location right in front of lake side mall stores and food close by. It is pricey. But well worth the price to enjoy and be comfortable in a hotel.
Definitely on our list for travels! Brand new, modern construction right if the interstate; very easy to get off/on the turnpike. Excellent breakfast area and selection of dining choices; eggs, cereal, waffles, juices, smoothies. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, large walk-in shower (no tubs).
Good location, close to malls, entertainment and food. Rooms are large and comfortable. Full kitchen and utensils available. Great customer service. Tons of parking. Breakfast that is included is mediocre other than the regular continental, and wifi is bad unless you pay the $5/night upgrade. Sometimes this charge is removed by the hotel. Gym is pretty bad, especially if youre staying more than a few days. Very comfortable overall.
The sink in the bathroom had long pieces of womens hair and other items of dirt in it, could have been cleaned quickly. When I lifted up the toilet seat there were two brown stains on the seat (appeared to be poop), which came off easily with damp toilet paper. The rest of the hotel appeared to be good, per Marriotts normal high standards.
I went up to see my daughter for her birthday. We were close to were she lived and near a mall. We had everything we need very close. It was a nice location. The staff was very nice. We were able to bring our dog which was nice. They had a nice breakfast. The rooms was very nice. Was just a never nice and easy weekend. You couldnt ask for a better stay. Thanks again for making the weekend go so smooth...that is what I am looking for when I am away from home.
Towneplace Suites by Marriott is an EXCELLENT extended stay hotel. They offer little suites with a kitchennette and it is close to shopping, restaurants and a great lake! It was nice and clean. Even MORE IMPORTANT for us, they are pet friendly. We take our dogs with us and always rent houses. This was our first stay with them in a hotel, and we were worried about leaving them as well as if they would bark, etc. We requested an end unit, first floor AND they assured us we would get it - but I was worried as hotels NEVER give you what you request.. This one did!!!! We got an end unit, first floor and it was PERFECT for us and the dogs. I would HIGHLY recommend this place!
Room was not ready an hour and a half after check in time, finally got room at 5:30. We reserved a king one bedroom suite we received a queen not a deal breaker but they did not deliver what was promised on reservation. Rooms are spartan and our bed was well used, not comfortable.
The building smelled of weed (which would normally not bother me) but we got a knock on our door for being loud. We did exactly what she requested for us to do. We turned off the music we had been quietly playing in the background, and we talked at a lower volume. We sincerely apologized because we honestly had no idea we were being loud, gave the staff member absolutely no problems, and not more than two minutes after we had immediately resolved the situation the same woman came back to our room and said she could still hear how loud we were being. She said that we either needed to bring our noise to the Welcome lobby or we would be escorted off the premises. We were never rude, we did exactly what she asked us to do, none of us were intoxicated, and we were simply carrying on conversation (there were 4 of us). The walls are so thin that we could literally hear a phone vibrating on a desk in the room next to us so even a small amount of noise could unfortunately be an βissueβ. However, the fact that we were treated like degenerates, and as if we were unruly guests was completely unacceptable. My huband and I had no problem doing exactly what the staff had asked of us. I honestly donβt care that people smoke weed, but as soon as we answered the door to hear her threaten to kick us off the property, it was literally all we could smell in the entire hallway and our room. For the staff to address one βissueβ and not another, is obviously laziness and bias. Iβm disappointed in the behavior of the staff, and will most definitely never book here again.
The bed was comfy, I couldnt hear the elevator next to my room, and great staff. Could have used a second station to check people in and the cleaning staff not running the dish washer with only two dishes. Otherwise, all was well, quiet, and the bed was super comfortable.
We enjoy these suites. When family come from out of town, they often stay here. When we had a family marriage a few years ago, we booked a group of rooms and weve always had good feedback on the facility. Recently we returned to Michigan after moving to South Carolina, and we stayed here ourselves and again found the experience to be convenient for our functions and a good place to stay when returning to the area near our former residence. Chances are we will stay here any time we have other occasions to visit the area.
I stayed here for 2 nights on a business trip and the location was great. The rooms were clean and had everything I needed for 2 nights. The only downside was their lobby is under construction and they had breakfast squeezed into a small room. There was no healthy protein options only carbs. The fruit bowl was also empty. I would not hold this against the hotel and will plan accordingly for my next visit.
Good place to stay with a small family. My stay was very good with no real complaints to note. The room was very clean, the access was good and the grounds were clean. The bed was in very good condition and comfortable. The only flaw was the small breakfast area that doesnt have a good flow if you are down for breakfast with other guests. All in all this location would get a return visit from me if I visit the area again.
The carpets in our room felt sticky throughout. There were questionable stains on the couch. We found (what I hope was) a chicken bone on the floor of our room and trash fell out of the pack and play when we set it up. We only stayed a couple nights for a business trip, but I wouldnt choose to stay here long term.
We have stayed here in 2017, so when we rebooked for this summer we were sure it would be the same pleasant experience. It wasnt.Because on the way to the hotel, we were told that we may need to be relocated due to no available rooms. We reserved a 2 bedroom suite with shared living room. After waiting and spill from the front desk/manager there was a rewards member in a room that we could use but he was not planning on leaving. She told us that if he wont leave (because he has precedence over non members) then they would have to find us a room somewhere else in the city. She called around and all comparable hotels but one place was booked and that place didnt even have a room with 2 beds. Only 2 rooms with King size beds. But Townplace was unwilling to pay the rate the other hotel (brand new place) was requesting so they told us we had to wait until after 4pm to see if he would leave before they would accomodate us... We had an event to go to and was hoping to actually change at our hotel but we felt accomodating us would be satisfactory if we could not get the room we reserved at Townplace. Time was of the essence. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and went to eat for an hour then returned. The rewards member was willing to leave but our room was not one room but two adjoining rooms. Not even what we reserved in the first place! We were thinking he was in the 2 bedroom suite and that wasnt even the issue. They really did give our reserved room away... It wasnt what we expected because we had to prop open the doors with stuff so we could communicate while we got dressed. Took away the Girlfriends Getaway experience. We asked if we could receive some kind of percentage off or $20 off each room and the manager told us she would see what she could do. We never heard from her and she was gone when we checked out. We will not be back...
The desk clerks were very nice especially one young lady She new I had death in my family she was so kind and sympathetic so sorry I cant remember her name but I BEEN through a lot in the past weeks she also had a loss of her son THIS LADY HAD THE SWEETEST SPIRIT NEEDED that Kind sweetness that she showed thank You
Only queen beds, thin walls, and they do not change their breakfast meats daily. Very small TV and it was not even above the hight of the bed. The maid service was bad, they didnt empty the trash or replace items in bathroom. I would recommend staying at another hotel instead of this one. Being a platinum member I was very disappointed with this property.
The motel is in a nice location for shopping and restaurants. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was better than expected, except for our A/C making an irritating noise. We reported it the next morning as they were full so there wasnt really anything that they could do.
Used a 2-room suite to get ready for daughters wedding. This hotel was perfect. Well equipped to handle 3 bridesmaids/bride/mother of bride and make-up artist and hair stylist. Close to church and reception. Staff exceptionally helpful and friendly. Out of town wedding guests stayed in 3 other rooms at same hotel, all were pleased. Would highly recommend.
The TownePlace Suites are a nice place to stay. The rooms are clean and have all the amenities you would expect. They also have a stove and refrigerator in the room if you plan on to prepare your own meals. But if you wanted to go out to eat, there are a plethora of establishments to fulfill your appetite. The walls are a little thin, as I can hear the occupants adjacent to me (both sides). But all in all I would stay again if I was to visit Sterling Heights again.
There for step-daughters wedding. The rooms were exactly what we needed during our stay. There were also very clean. Jeremy was my our first contact. I had requested connecting rooms and he cheerfully said he would do everything he could to accommodate. I called again, a few days before the trip and was told that this request was duly noted weeks back and that attention had been made to the note. We had exactly what we asked for ... and on the 3rd floor. (What I had hoped for) We walked in on arrival and were greeted by the smiling and very affable, Avery, at the front desk. We also spoke several times with Sara (or Sarah ?). She was also very helpful and accommodating. We only came in contact with on of the house-cleaning staff, and that was Denise. She was very thorough, and did a wonderful job. She also would ask if they was anything that we needed .... and was a delight with which to speak. Kudos to all of whom we had the pleasure of coming into contact! Great representatives of TownePlace Suites!
How about some king size beds with occasional chairs in instead of an uncomfortable sofa bed. Store liquid coffee creamers in refrig. to prevent spoilage. Loved all the facilities in the small kitchens with each room. Everything worked in each room. Loved the free breakfast in the lobby and coffee in each room. We will stay here again next month when we visit relatives. Also I love all the great places to shop nearby. The staff were very friendly and cooperative!
Spent close to two weeks at this location during a recent move. We chose this location, because we were traveling with two cats and this property accepts pets. Rooms were clean, staff was helpful, patient and friendly, and breakfast was easy (look for Ali at breakfast, probably the hardest working guy there). Overall, we had a positive experience.
Stayed in a queen kitchenette. It was nice and clean. Everything was nice except walls are thin. Could hear voices and walking on the floors and running showers and all doors closing. Was looking forward to sleeping in but woken up at 6am and not able to go back to sleep.
Every time Im in the area I stay at this hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms are nice and its in a great location. Theres not a lot of staff turnover which says a lot about the management of this hotel. On top of all that, the room is quiet. Ive never had trouble sleeping at this hotel. I have been very satisfied over multiple visits.
I usually stay at the Towneplace Suites in Sterling heights, because I visit my father at the senior care facility right next door. I will no longer do so. Our overpriced suite was not in good condition. The kitchen was not clean. The refrigerator/freezer was not clean. The carpet was dirty, the bed uncomfortable, and the couch and chair in the sitting area worn and ratty. It was always a great place to stay in past days, because of the comfort and convenience. Next visit I will stay elsewhere.
My stay was adequate. I only wish I had the room I requested, top floor. The room I received was very clean. However, the guest above me kept me up all night. From my observations, I belie many individuals staying at this TownPlace is using it as a private residence. For this location, the parking lot was full & there is no convention center or activity center near by??
Rooms are spacious but housekeeping did not take care of empty pizza boxes left by trash for 2 days. Also, the carpet in the hallway across from us looks like someone threw up or spilled a drink, we stayed 3 days and it was never cleaned. They seem to clean the basics in the room and thats it. Dirty floorboards, beds were never remade, etc. I have stayed here 3 times and it seems to be going downhill.
Our 2 bedroom suite was very dirty. The furniture looked old and soiled, and the bed sheets were threadbare. Other than the dust accumulation on the baseboards, the bathroom was the cleanest room in the suite. The breakfast was very meager compared to other Marriott hotels.
Ive stayed at better hotels. Asked for foam pillows the front desk said there should be two foam and two feather there were not had to ask again, one day did not get maid service, called the front desk all the maids had left and marked my room had the do not disturb sign on it, it did not. I left at 9:30 in the morning and took the sign off. The wired internet in the rooms do not work and the room I had had very low wifi, said there was nothing they could do. They said they would reset it but I was logged in all night so they never reset it. People here are not helpful atall.
My grandfather is at Henry Ford Hospital being treated for cancer. It was a sudden shock and we were unprepared for him to be admitted. I was able to make a last minute reservation right before the holiday weekend. We chose a hotel with multiple bedrooms in the suite because the family is all on different sleep schedules and this allowed for us to keep from distributing the others. This location worked for us because while a ways out from the hospital, it was still much closer than our home and it was close to grocery stores and restaurants. The hotel was very clean and comfortable and all of the staff were friendly. If we have other long trips down in the area, we will definitely be staying here again!
I have stayed here twice and both times the hotel room was clean and the staff friendly. The furniture is slightly worn, but that seems to be the trend wherever I stay. The breakfast and lounge area is clean and the staff will get you what you need if things are low. I will definitely continue staying here.
I want to start off by saying the staff was one of the best staff I have come across in a long time. With that being said, I did not.sleep.well because I was being bitten by something all night long. I took a shower and came back to find a bug crawling on the bed. I have no clue what it was but I dont think bed bugs can be seen with the naked eye and if I remember correct they arent the size of a tick. I would definitely give them another chance but if I had the same problem, I would never go back.
My son and I came down with the stomach bug and were stuck in our hotel room for over 24 hours. Your housekeeper Denise saved the day! I requested clean bed linens and towels so I could clean up the room myself. Instead they sent me Denise. I didnt want to expose anyone else to the bug, or have someone else stuck cleaning up our mess. Denise didnt take no for an answer. She cleaned around us and even came back later to finish up the last bed. She was very thoughtful and caring. She brought brightness to us on that very dark day.
Not happy. Booking was incorrect. They tried twice to fix. Overcharged for services which Iβm still awaiting a refund for. Walls are paper thin. Food mediocre for breakfast. If you stay in another building you have to physically walk outside to get to main building. Not impressed for the money. There are so many better area options.
This hotel was perfect for a small group of people staying for multiple nights. It had absolutely everything I needed and more! It was clean and over all very well put together, and the staff was so friendly! I would definitely recommend it to anyone. And the location was great!
We came to town to visit family and go to a Detroit Red Wings hockey game. The room was clean and comfortable and the kitchen was well appointed. The staff was courteous and professional. The location is great as it is surrounded by places to eat and shop. Lakeside Mall is in the backyard. We would definitely stay there again.
Checked in at 7pm to find nobody at the check in desk. Sign was up that they stepped away for a minute. 10 minutes later someone turned up and check us in quickly. We had a 2 bedroom suite. Furniture in the sitting area was so dirty and stained was turning black in areas. The bathroom door did not close as door was too large for door frame. Second night there was a buzzer alarm going off in the room adjacent to ours. Front desk said it was the boiler room and he did not have access to get in.
Quiet atmosphere. Professional staff. Working amenities. Clean and comfortable room. Youd think this something you would get everywhere, but its not. I travel monthly and I will be coming back. Thank you staff member Ali for making sure the all guests were taken care and welcomed.
Our last stay here was the worst and most expensive stay at any hotel. We stay here because it is the only hotel with actual 2-bedroom suites. They are actually two separate rooms, separate doors. We have stayed here at least two more times and dont remember having problems but when we recently stayed there, I pulled back the covers to find dirt or dead bugs on the bed. Our bedroom smelled like cigarette smoke. After I took off the sheets there was a protective pad like thing on top of the mattress. Underneath that there was a burnt spot on the mattress. Gross! The next morning I told the front desk and they told me housekeeping would do a deep cleaning and when we got back noone hadnt done anything. We also had an ant infestation while we were there...big huge ants. Also found at least 3 other types of bugs one of which was crawling on my bed. The furniture is outdated which means it is probably gross. We will never stay here again.
The grounds and room were well maintained, and the staff was friendly. The Wifi was horrible and kept cutting out. The beds were advertised as queen beds, but they were just as large as my full sized bed at home. This made for a sleepless night of sharing a small bed with someone else.
The rooms have been recently renovated per the receptionist and they rushed to get them ready. Several things you could tell had been rushed. The room phone didnt work so we had to call the front desk from our cell phones with any questions. The advertisement on the back of our door said there were vending machines to the right out of our room and there were none. The faucets cold and hot were backward as well as the shower. The burners I the stove were not installed correctly so they did not sit flat. Worst of all the bed was so uncomfortable and wore out my wife couldnt stay on her side of the bed it sank so much on my side that neither of us hardly slept. You would think if your going to renovate the rooms completely new beds would be at the top of the list.
Breakfast a little disappointing. Fried eggs were hard and sausage was sitting in grease. The rest of it was good. Scrambled would have been better. Grease drained from sausage next time. Crispy bacon is good. Other than that, all good. Plenty to eat otherwise. Good hot oatmeal, fruit, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, etc. good job.
I was in town celebrating my birthday with friends and the TownPlace Suites was a perfect choice. It was close to shopping, a wide selection of restaurants and my friends home. The complimentary breakfast had several choices, the overall property was clean and the staff very friendly.
Traveled with my family, and rented a 2 BR suite. While the common space was (too) small, the beds were very comfortable, and the suite was clean, comfortable and quiet. Dont rent here for the breakfast though -- eat at the IHOP up the road. All in all, this rental was a really good value for the cost!
The rooms were fine, but the duck excrement all over the parking lot, walk around the lake and pet area was disgusting and unacceptable. I would expect a Marriott property to have much higher expectations. This location is extremely unhealthy and not a good choice.
The TownePlace Suites in Detroit (Sterling Heights) definitely is in keeping with Marriotts fine standards. My room was clean, the bed comfortable, the closet and bathroom VERY large and all the appliances and the wifi in good working condition. Most importantly, every staff member I met was pleasant and helpful. While this hotel has a limited dining option since there is a full kitchenette in the room, there are more than enough dining choices a very short distance from the hotel. I would highly recommend this TownePlace Suites for family or business visitors.
This was my first time staying at a Towneplace Suite, so, I was pleasantly surprised when I entered my room. Room is the operative word. What I found was a suite --- a bedroom area; an office area; a full kitchen - refrigerator, oven, stove top, dish washing machine, pots, pans, dishes; and a living room with a comfortable sofa, chair and TV. The property was located on a small lake which help to create a relaxing atmosphere.
Did not like the front desk personnels attitude. Did not like where the room was located. It was located by the lobby in front of the door where people come in and out of. It was a bit noisy at times because of it. However, the hotel room was clean. There was plenty of space in the studio suite.
This was one of the worst hotel stays that we have ever had and we travel often for work and leisure. Besides the fact that the hotel does not have any rooms with king beds (or even queen) makes the sleeping arrangements very uncomfortable to the point that I chose to sleep on the pull out sofa. That said, our stay was for 3 nights and not once did housekeeping collapse the pull out sofa and make the bed when the room was made up. It was left open and unmade every day which required me to do the housekeeping work because I wanted to use the living room space during the day. Next, on our first night I left the Do Not Knock sign out on the door...of course, the person from housekeeping (obviously someone who cannot read or follow directions) knocked on the door at 9:15; we asked her to come back in 30 minutes...after requests at around 10:30am and 2:30pm (including the front desk) the room was finally made up close to 3:30pm; NOT ACCEPTABLE. When I questioned the gentleman behind the front desk around 2:30pm about the failure to have the room made up, notwithstanding my earlier requests, his only response was that they have till 4:00pm and the housekeeping was busy. Not something a guest wants to hear after 3 requests to have the room made up. Lastly, (i) the room was not clean...cobwebs hanging from the ceiling and overhead light fixture over the table in the living room, the table that we would have used had we wanted to sit and eat something in the suite, (ii) damaged furniture (even though I was told that the room was recently refurbished)...the desk chair in the bedroom area was ripped and unsightly, and (iii) the toilet in the bathroom was unreasonably small and low to the ground.Theses are the reasons why I would not stay or recommend others to stay at this facility.
During my stay here was great Denise, Avery and Brittani were awesome! When I wanted to cry thinking about my loss he made me laugh and when I needed someone to talk to Denise and Brittani were both kind and considerate. The hospitality that was shown by the workers were amazing. I thank God I met these people during a very bad time of my life.
There was a coffee cup in the cupboard with RED LIPSTICK, toilet blue bowl stains on shower stall, stains on shower ceiling a broken window...I was too tired to deal with changing rooms not to mention this is a multi-building facility so moving a room most likely would not be convenient. The manager was off hand dismissive of issues even with photos. Promised to give points tofix issue, never recd...I will never stay at this facility

2022-06-19Room was clean-ISH is the best I can say. Phone did not work & shower had mold in it. I write this as I lay awake at 3am listening to someone in the neighboring room snore, as walls are paper thin. Good for a very quick stay. Avoid for long term or anything important, like a wedding.

2022-06-16The gentleman at the front desk could not have been nicer. He even called a half hour after we were in our room to be sure everything was to our liking. He was super busy with an irate caller when we walked in. I stepped out to give him some space for a bit and then came back to check in. He was very apologetic. The ADA bathroom was not ADA. There was no handrail to hold on to when getting up from the seat. The handrails were on the opposite side of the tub (?!). My husband was unable to shower for safety purposes. We stayed at the Dearborn hotel a week later and their bathroom was perfect.

2022-05-05I get that itβs a 2 star hotel, but itβs definitely not up to Marriottβs standards for the price. Place hasnβt been updated much since it was built, and the appliances and TVβs are especially outdatedUpdate: my room is next to the mechanical room, which means that thereβs a constant whistle/ high pitched noise droning on all day, and someone is doing some serious hammering in there as well. Had to go buy earplugsUpdate: wifi is very slow and randomly disconnects without warning

2022-07-07Pillow cases and blankets were dirty upon arrival, but when I called the front desk they got me together. Breakfast was decent considering its free. No complaints other than dirty linen. Thats a nono.

2022-06-07This is possibly one of the worst Marriott experiences Ive had in years. You should expect that the internet service will be slow. Forget trying to have any video conference calls, especially on the 3rd floor. Management, if on site at all (which they werent for my stay) will punt on doing anything to resolve it other than telling you to try it from the 2nd floor. You should expect that your hotel room may not have functioning air conditioning. Our room got up to 78 degrees in the summer and changing the thermostat did nothing. We called for maintenance and after a couple of hours, nobody ever showed up to investigate. We stayed one night out of an expected week stay before checking out and finding somewhere else to go.Ive grown up with the Marriott, with parents who worked for decades in the Marriott brand. Ive spent the past 4.5 years traveling non-stop with frequent stays in only Marriott hotels across the world. I know that Marriott hotels are usually franchised and Im appalled that corporate lets this particular hotel carry and tarnish the Marriott name.Echoing some of the more recent comments, the hotel is very dated in upkeep and amenities. Save yourself the time, hassle, and avoid staying here.

2022-06-24This place is clean, but the reason I rate it 2 stars, is the fact, they called the police on an innocent man, for charging his phone. The worst mart, is that the man, wasnt bothering anybody. Its clear, that this place is full of snobs, and people who think theyre better than homeless people. If I had the chance, I would beat up the owner. I hate these people for that. That man did nothing wrong!

2021-10-23I had an excellent stay at TownePlace Suites. Its when a trip doesnt go exactly to plan, that I really get to see the difference between good hospitality and great hospitality. In this case, it was great. As I was traveling to Detroit a lot had gone not according to plan with my trip (to no fault of the hotel) and I felt discouraged. The service on checking in at TownePlace was the true turnaround for everything. Even before check in, I was truly amazed at the commitment to making great experiences. Brent was my hero, and very proactive about communicating with me while there were some difficult booking conditions on both sides, and then going above and beyond to be an ally to me. He went to lengths to accommodate our needs. The extra care put into a sincere desire to help and delight, made for a restful and recharging stay where I felt like I was with good friends. I was made to feel valued and appreciated. I felt like I had experts on my side to help me navigate my travels and everything *just worked*. Low stress, high quality, I love everything about it.The accommodations were very comfortable and it was easy to relax. The restrooms were the cleanest Ive ever seen in any hotel. Our kitchen was stocked with cutlery and dishes for 3 (the number of people for our stay). The staff was readily available for whatever was needed day or night. If you are considering this location and reading this review, I promise this is the place youre looking for. It also has a very good location.

2021-08-25Although I found the location of the hotel and room perfect for our needs, I will not be staying here and/or using this brand again- even though I have been a loyal costumer for years. I booked my week stay online which was great. However, on August 13th at 9:48 a.m. (a day before my week booking would end) I contacted the front desk and spoke to Anne who denied me a room. I had asked if she could check the rate for adding 1, 3 and 7 more nights to my stay. She simply said no. She claimed this hotel was sold out. I did not think anything of it at first until my husband checked online and found open availability. I still did not think much of it, perhaps an error in her system.... However, that evening I approached the front desk to get some change. While I waited to be helped, I overheard the young man at the front desk (Andrew) speaking to someone regarding the open availability for the next few nights. Once he was off the phone and asked if he could help me, I asked him if they had had cancellations leading to new availability. He said no and stated that he certainly had rooms available. I explained to him that I had spoken with Anne and tried to book a longer stay yet was denied availability by her. He did his best to find a reason why this may have been and said maybe it was the type of room I was looking for. I told him I was staying in a studio, he then confirmed yet again he certainly had plenty of rooms to accommodate my request. He once again tried to be as pleasant as possible and said perhaps someone had requested the very room I was staying in....To which I responded, I would have been happy to move. Andrew was super apologetic and offered assisting me in adding additional days to my stay. However at this point I was quite upset and felt absolutely discriminated against by Anne, (not to mentioned had already booked with one of your competitors for the next week) so I politely declined his offer. Knowing that I was absolutely heart broken and disappointed, Andrew attempted once again to make it better and offered me a complementary bottle of water as I was leaving. I spent the rest of the night debating what I may have done to deserve this? The next morning we met a man and his son (of mixed race) who were also denied the ability to extend their stay by Anne. It was then clear to us what was going on. When my husband turned in the key to her in the morning she asked for our room number and said oh good! instead of asking about our stay.
