As others have mentioned, the vans are clean, in great condition, well equipped, affordable and above all, well thought out for all campers whether it’s your first campervan trip or your 100th.Before making the decision to rent with Nate, we researched several comparable van rental companies and are so glad we went with Trekker Vans, which absolutely provided the most value. We especially appreciated that the van has a subtle appearance (simple white color) and all of the details that Nate has built into the vans. He was extremely personable, experienced and helpful and we would absolutely rent again.

Comment: The contact-less pick-up and drop-off was easy and quick. The van was super clean, the bed was comfy, and bedding very nice. Converting the bed into a table was easy and quick, as my sister and I love to play games before bed. And storage for the two of us was definitely adequate. We traveled up the Northern California coast and stayed at state parks on the coast and in The Redwoods. Thanks in part to the ease and simplicity of this van, the trip was awesome. Except for one seafood restaurant in Crescent City, we ate every meal out of the camper. The drawer fridge was great and kept our beer cold :D The staples for cooking were there for simple meals. They provided butane gas for the stove, but we bought one can. We did stop at a dollar store and thrift shop ... we bought dish soap, a sharp knife, dish towels, a lighter, a picnic cloth, and a can opener. I only list these items so that other folks can pack them for their trip, as I will do on my next trip. I brought 2 portable solar lanterns and a fully charged USB port for cell phones, ear buds, tablets, etc (both were very handy there was just one USB port in the van). I will definitely travel with Trekker Vans next year! This is an affordable, low-key, trust-worthy and convenient way to explore parts of western states.

Comment: I absolutely love camping and being outdoors, but ever since we’ve had kids I’ve been hesitant to try. We have a close group of friends that wanted to do a quick getaway. Most of us like camping but a handful are adverse to it. When Autocamp was booked up we thought van camping was a happy medium and convinced them to come along with us. Heard good things about Trekker Vans and the pickup/ drop off spot is close to our home. We met our friends at the drop off location. They were able to reserve their 3 spaces. Since we have 3 kids 8,6 & 2.5 yrs old, we had our eldest sit in the other van with our friends daughter (3yrs old) and a walkie talkie. That was a fun adventure in itself! We were all ready to go to drop off our car at home and I realized I forgot to pick up a birthday cake! Picked up the cake and was about to run inside the house to get another cooler bag when my husband reminded me that there was a fridge drawer in the van. What a relief since the drive was 3 hours north and we planned on stopping at a kid friendly winery on the way to camp. We rented the roof top van and as soon as it was set up all the kids wanted to climb up. The fact that the van comes with everything you need already packed neatly in the storage compartments made setting up camp so easy and painless especially with 3 kids. My kids and husband slept in the rooftop tent (their favorite experience during the trip) and I slept in the van with my toddler. It was nice to have the additional sound barrier of the van since my toddler still cries for milk in the middle of the night. The ladder also came in handy when setting up the hammock in the tree so that it wasn’t dragging on the ground. Also loved the velcro to keep the curtains from opening inside the van, front and side window shades, sink to wash up at night, storage under bed to keep clothes out of the way and storage under the roof tent top tent to keep your tent clean and shoes convenient to reach. We had a 4 van caravan each with our own walkie talkie. So useful when cell service and internet is no where to be found. So much fun! Can’t wait to do this again for an even longer and more adventurous trip. Thanks to trekker vans for such a comfortable and memorable experience !!

Comment: I would avoid renting the Roof Top Tent for kids younger than 7 years of age unless you plan to be with them the entire time while they’re utilizing the rooftop addition. There’s no protection or even mesh shield to protect them; it’s completely open and just appears unsafe. We rented the RTT for four days and was unable to utilize it for our 4 year old daughter out of safety concerns. We advised our concerns to TrekkerVans and they didn’t offer any partial refund.

Comment: This was a dream vacation for my wife and I! Weve loved the idea of Van Life and this gave us the opportunity to experience it for ourselves! Nate was EXTREMELY accommodating with our ever changing plans due to some of the wild fires making us re plan our route but overall it was an amazing experience.The van itself was extremely pleasant to drive and in great condition minus an issue with the AC leaking on the floor board. This was a simple issue that we just dealt with to be honest. Nate was apologetic of this issue and that was fine by us.As far as what to expect, imagine have a camp site already set up where ever you go. That seems to be how this was designed. Theres only a couple places for storage so we ended up bring a large box to use as a pantry and had packing cubes we used to organize our clothes while traveling. This made the van less cluttered for sure. We also loved the fact that Trekker vans are relatively low key in their appearance versus the dozens of Escape Van Rentals we saw on the road. This was nice for city travel and parking in more discreet places.Over all this was a wonderful experience and we highly recommend this to anyone looking into it!!

Comment: Believe the few people on these reviews who say Nate (owner) is rude and difficult to deal with. The day we picked up the van late he scolded us as if we knew he was a one man operation. We rented his van for 13 days which we drove to Utah and back. Two things happened. 1) his windshield wiper flew off while we were driving and it was raining which was super dangerous. he charged us for that. 2) He asked us to put in a little effort in cleaning the van. The day of our return we went to a car wash which was super busy so we decided to wash the van ourselves. We were tight on time so we did the best we could with $15 and 12 minutes. We weren’t able to dry the van or get some of the red dirt that was on the side of the footsteps. Apparently there was a spill of honey in the cabinets too, and we forgot to wash his $20 amazon stove. He accused us of being irresponsible and not caring about the van. We did care, it was our home for 13 days! After all of his shaming and accusations, we were charged $150 for those two listed items.We’ve rented vans, have great reviews on Airbnb and other apps. He is so convinced we are the problem. Horrible customer experience. The vans aren’t built well. The faucet is a waste of space because it doesn’t work. Windows in the back don’t open so be ready to feel claustrophobic when you sleep.I get it, he laid off his staff. But shouldThe customer take on the burden of his frustrations? Take your business elsewhere.

We used the roof tent as well as the bed in the van and both were very comfortable. We will rent one again. Highly recommended!

Even the host Nate is super friendly and would help you with his experience in any situation if needed.The on boarding process is also very detailed and he will explain everything to you.The camper itself have anything you need for a longer adventure in California.Only our Aux-In cable was defect right after the start. We were tired after travels and Nate helped us out lots.The van was better than we expected. Came with everything we needed. If there was anything that wasnt in the kitchen gear all we had to do was ask. You can tell Trekker Vans has been put together by people that love camping and have years of experience doing it.We travelled as a couple with a 1 year old. Baby seat worked well and sleeping was really easy. We would really recommend Trekker Vans. If/when we come this way again we will be renting another van for further adventures.

Comment: Trekker Vans is the best! The transformation from a plain Jane Ford Transit to a Trekker Van truly sets these vans apart. We had a highly functional cleaning area, comfortable and spacious sleeping quarters, ample storage space, large refrigerator and a loaded camping kit. This “pick up and go” kit allowed us to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner for 8 days without packing a single camping tool (we flew in from Canada). The V6 allowed us to average ~ 18 mpg which helped save a lot on gas. Having a home on wheels made our road trip around Cali fantastic, and could not imagine doing it any other way.

Comment: This is my second year in a row renting from Trekker van and I think this is a great option. I was camping in the desert, so the van was especially cool and comfortable to sleep in. I also felt safe from critters and some intense wind - really the best sleep I have ever got camping. Also, there is plenty of room for all the stuff that can make camping comfortable, like shade structures, chairs, little stove... so its easy to pack up and go.

Nice big windows and it sits high up, so we had amazing views for the passengers going up Hwy 1 and over the Golden Gate Bridge.The drop off and return facility is close to San Francisco and very near SFO, so an easy place to rent from if you happen to be flying in to San Francisco.Nate gave a very thorough orientation of the van, so we were comfortable driving and setting it up to camp.The rooftop tent is easy to use and very comfortable, it has a gear loft for your stuff and a lamp to use at night. lots of storage under the benches inside the van and a handy sink for washing up.Makes camping in fall and winter months easy!

The Van was in excellent condition and spotlessly cleaned. It was so easy to drive, comfortable, and parking was a breeze. Even though we had places to stay on our trip and didnt sleep in the van it was the perfect vehicle to roam around with. It was so nice to pull up to one of Californias many landmarks or beautiful overlooks and have a comfortable place to eat or lay down and relax. The founder of this place is great! He takes time to show you around the van and explain how everything works. Its great to deal with someone that really knows how to provide a truly amazing customer service experience. We will most certainly be recommending Trekker Vans to all our friends and family. We cant wait to come back and make this our normal vehicle rental when visiting California! Keep up the great work!

Comment: Awesome rental van experience! The vans are clean, modern, and easy to drive. They blend in with normal vehicles and dont stick out like an RV, which is a bonus for boondocking and security in parking lots. Nate has done an amazing job designing the camper interior kit for easy use and comfort. Everything you need for a trip is there: bed, table, fridge, sink, stove, storage...even dishes, folding chairs, and optional roof-top tent. Easy reservation process and great customer service. Highly recommended for easy, comfortable RV camping!

Comment: I picked Trekker Vans after much research. The draw was a newer van with higher ceilings that did not require me to worry about mechanical breakdowns as we headed down 101 to the Santa Barbara area and then traveled back up north for 8 days along the coast. The van drove well and was comfortable to drive and ride in.Things to know; the van was very clean; the refrigerator kept everything cold; the bed and roof top tent are very comfortable; the linens are great; we stayed warm and the nights were probably mid 40s; I wish we had a lantern for the evenings when we didnt have time for a fire (we had headlamps and a small light for the picnic table); the van lights shut down after about an hour of reading at night: pour over coffee make works great.Would I do this again? Yes. Setting up our camp site became easier each night. People were friendly at the camp sites, and we shared our coffee with a few.

Comment: We enjoyed all aspects of our experience with Nate and Trekker Vans. Nates enthusiasm was contagious. His communication was clear and timely. Nate was knowledgable about the area of our trip and was able to give us some travel guidance.We loved the van!!! Both driver and passenger were comfortable and confident on the road. We didn’t have any mechanical difficulties.Nate’s design and the van’s amenities worked well for us. The extra battery gave us charging capabilities, a refrigerated drawer and evening lights. The van was set up nicely with curtains for sleeping privacy, a great little butane cooking stove for morning coffee, and a swivel passenger seat to create a living space.It was excellent to carry our bed with us. We just drove from one beautiful campground to another, exploring the natural areas, and crawling into our bed when the sun went down. So simple.Even though I give Trekker Vans and our experience with Nate’s camper van a rating of 5 stars, I have to mention one area that needs to be improved.
