My husband and I got married here on October 7. It was beautiful and the weather was amazing! One of the perks of renting the Village for a wedding is your rent the whole property privately for your guests. Unfortunately right before my bridesmaids were set to start, another bridal party showed up. The Village staff was excellent; they immediately went to the Bridal party and explained that I had a contract and our event was private. According to some of my guests at first they refused to leave, and apparently were pretty rude, but eventually they did leave and we were able to start the wedding. A wedding day is stressful enough and another bride crashing my wedding caused my stress level to skyrocket. Thank you to Nancy and Sue for handling it, and making my day wonderful!
Quaint and comfortable to visit. Troy has done a reasonably good job of preserving historical landmarks from yesteryears. Go if you have a chance and if its open (abbreviated visiting times). A friend of ours had her wedding in the simple Troy Chapel and had her reception catered on the grounds of the site. Good time and great atmosphere.
The City of Troy has moved and gathered some of its most important historic structures to this one location. This has made it possible to maintain each in its historically correct condition and keep them viewable to the public into the future. With a friendly and knowledgeable staff on hand during open hours, the buildings make it possible to capture an accurate and effective glimpse into the past one would not otherwise get. Though an argument can be made that moving such structures deprives them of the context of location on the land, it is likely that some have been spared destruction by having been relocated. This is an important and informative gathering not to be missed by the those curious about how the past informs the present. It is also an accomplishment the citizens of Troy can be proud of!
We chose the vIllage as our wedding venue after considering several locations, and are thrilled with the experience. Every person we dealt with was cordial and accommodatiñg. From the rental manager, receptionist, and every staff person, especially Michael, our oñ-site coordinator,we encountered welcoming and support. The rental agreement is specific, reasonable, and affordable.
The older lady with grey short hair absolutely rude as hell! Came there for a quick wedding picture and she yelled at the party and shamed the bride and the military bridal party. She didn’t ask nicely, she completely started yelling at us and shaming us like children. The bride was humiliated in front of the bridal party and the people walking around. I would never set foot in there again! To talk that way to our military members!! RUDE

2022-01-28Cant say enough good things about this place. They were very patient with the kids and they were also very organized with their presentation. We got to walk around through all the buildings and they were all beautifully set up. All the buildings were heated except one which makes sense do to the history of it. We also got to do a couple crafts to take home, will definitely be visiting again. Thank you to Tom and Matthew for helping with setting this all up.

2022-06-13We had our wedding and reception here and could not be happier with our choice. The venue was perfect. All the buildings were open to tour, which was a fun activity for our guests and made for great photo opportunities. The enclosed nature of the site also made it feel like we were in our own little world on our wedding despite being very accessible. Marian and Michael, the volunteers that we worked with were a dream: accommodating, friendly, and responsive. We got so many compliments from our guests about how unique their experience was; everyone had so much fun. This is THE spot for a wedding your guests will not forget.

2022-05-06I visited the Troy Historic Village with my kids this fall. It is unique and a really neat preservation of history. I was looking forward to going there with my husband and kids tomorrow (Saturday) for Mother’s Day weekend, but I am surprised and disappointed to see that it is not open on weekends. That is really too bad for families who want to go together, especially when one or both parents work during the week so visiting on the weekend is their only option. Please consider opening on Saturdays, even for 3-4 hours in the morning, so all family members can visit together.

2019-07-16Somebody in another review called this a mini Greenfield village. And I would agree with that assessment. It is quite small they have maybe 10 buildings that are all historical buildings from Troy most of them were removed from their original locations and brought to this area, I think one of them is just a replica because they didnt have the actual building. You can go in and see the inside and the outside and see what life was like back in the early days of the city of Troy. They also have a blacksmith shop and there was a lady in there who actually was making tools by hand in the blacksmith shop, it was amazing! She said she learned the trade at the University. So its nice to know that trades like that actually still exist and are being carried on.

2019-01-17I was able to attend this cute little historic village on a field trip with my daughter. It was so fun! The staff was very friendly, and knowledgeable. The first graders got to step back in time and really get a feel for life “back then”. The activities offered for this age group were spot on!

2021-10-28I love this little village! The blacksmith shop and extensive courses are particularly awesome, and quite reasonably priced. A 150yo shop with 250yo bellows still in operation!

2021-11-16My daughters girl scout troop went here recently, it was a good experience. The girls enjoyed the activities and learning about pioneers. Could have been better if there were female staff present for girl scouts.
