Loren and his guys got me in right away for some exhaust work they got it done quick and it sounds great.
Very professional and courteous. My muffler was hanging down and we had to find somewhere. We pulled in before they opened and when they opened they were super nice about getting my car in to look. Unfortunately they couldnt find a replacement muffler for me as I own an odd car, so they did what they could and sent me on my way. Would highly recommend!
Just wanted to bleed my brake lines but they wouldnt told me I needed whole new everything wanted 1600 for it its a99 outback Subaru so I cant really say allot on how they do things but the place is not for the little man.
Michael the store manager was excellent to work with and helped me out when I was in a tough spot. The quality of the work was great and they got the car done much faster than I anticipated. I will definitely be back for my future car repairs. I 100% recommend Tuffy Bay City!

SCAMMERS DONT GO HERE PERIOD. HEAD MANAGER MIKE AND SERVICE MAN BOTH LIED TO MY FACE AND TRIED TO STEAL FROM MY MOTHER BY SAYING HER CAR NEEDED NEW SUSPENSION WHEN IT WAS JUST REPLACED LITERALLY LESS THEN A MONTH BEFORE BY A PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC. WE JUST WENT TO TUFFY FOR AN OIL CHANGE, THIS PLACE IS THE WORST SHOP IN ALL THE TRICITY AREA BY FAR, NEVER GO HERE
I was driving up on my way to my cabin up north when my car broke down about an hour and a half away from my destination. It was a very rough start to what was supposed to be a calm, relaxing vacation by the River. I had my car towed to Tuffy in Bay City and dealt with a guy named Michael. I explained my situation to him and that I was on vacation and not from around here. He was AMAZING!!! I cannot begin to tell you how helpful and understanding and easy he made it. All my car needed was a bolt that had popped off and he replaced it and did not charge me. This is the second Tuffy location I have dealt with and they were both exceptional. I’m so happy with my experience here and I will DEFINITELY be going back to tuffy again for future repairs. Not to mention my birthday is Friday…you would not believe how relieved and stress free he made this!!!!!
Took our truck in for an odd vibrating issue. They said it was the drive shaft. $1,560 later they replaced the drive shaft but still experienced the same vibrating issue with the truck. Took it back to them and they said they can feel what we are talking about but don’t know what the issue is and we need to go to a transmission place.What a joke.
I had Tuffy replace brakes on my 1 ton truck. Noticed a sever shake in the steering finally discovered that all my lug nuts were loose, and 2 of my wheel studs were sheared off. My tires are now destroyed. I notified tuffy their next business day, it has been almost 2 weeks that they have had my truck and still have not repaired it. They are refusing to refund any money from the brake job, or replace the tires. 2 weeks and still waiting for them to make my truck drivable.
They did great work and fast so I didnt have to wait long. Place is always clean when I come in and always polite. Also trustworthy as they have never over priced me but always saved me money with new parts. Always positive experience.
Oil change & rotation. Car was dirty & I know my car. The tire cover was freshly scratched up with deep long scratches & was cracked after the service. (I look at my car & tires after every service). Tech tried saying it was from hitting a curb (I never have) and these damages was fresh & over top of the dirt! I pointed out friction damage from a recent move from a flatbed strapping. This damage was new and on the other side of the cover! Manager backed the tech. I wont be back if damages are protocol and blaming the driver for obvious shop damages is a habit..

My family and I were going to Charlevoix for a wedding, and the muffler on the car broke down. They did a great job on my truck and got us on the road quickly. Nice people very professional, would definitely recommend this business
I called at 8 am after I had called several other places that didnt leave me with a good feeling about other shops services. Spoke with Mike who told me it was a first come first serve shop, got my car there by 8:30 am, very friendly drop off, received a call about noon, telling me what could be done to make my car quieter, not a complete replacement on my exhaust system but a good fix, mentioned a couple other issues, that can repaired over time. When Mike called me back he told me he had bad news, I instantly started worrying but he replied with, The bad news is, its done and now you have to come pay us. I instantly started laughing and said wed be there to pick it up, car returned by 5 pm, not a problem as I had the day off. After a year of driving around in a loud car, my baby is SO FREAKING QUIET! I am SO happy with the work that was done, now I can visit family across town where the police wont chase me down for such a loud car. Thank you so much Tuffy mechanics, and thank you Mike for such great service! :)
This place was a life saver! I got a flat nearby on 4th of july wkend. They were open luckily and they were so nice! From my first phone call to leaving super happy. They fixed my tire and lugnuts and even fixed my cover under my car without having to ask them! Super impressed and my bill was only 20 bucks! I definitely recommend this place! Amazing service!
My daughter had foot surgery and was at the clinic for a follow up appointment when the wheel fell off the mobility scooter she was using . The physician suggested taking the scooter across the street to Tuffy Muffler to see if they might be able to repair it. The employees at Tuffy were most accommodating and willing to help immediately. I offered to pay and they refused payment, saying they were glad they were able to repair the scooter. Thank you, Euclid Avenue Tuffy Muffler employees . I will definitely recommend your services.
Went in around 3 pm because my brake pedal was hitting the floor and my car was braking really slowly and they had me out by 6. They took the extra time to double check my car because the brake light was still on (separate problem with my ABS I already knew about) and they called the credit card company for me because my card wasnt working so Id get the 12 months no interest with my tuffy card instead of putting it on another card. Everyone was super nice and helpful and kept me informed of what they were doing.

I went into this Tuffy on 04/27/21 for a broken muffler. These men told me I they couldn’t fix it because I didn’t have a catalytic converter on my car and it was illegal to work on it without one and quoted me 509 for the cat and to fix the muffler. However I refused service and went home and asked a friend who then pointed out I did indeed have a cat and they tried to scam me out of 500 dollars. Don’t come here they will try and sell you parts you don’t need and scam you. I’m glad I went to Muffler man instead. They fixed it right up.

Fast affordable service, especially last minute on a Saturday. Only downfall was I had an issue with my ignition and asked them NOT to turn the key completely off and remove because it will not start back up. They did resulting in me, my wife, and dog being stranded for over 6 hours before we could find a tow truck to get back home. So all day and an unexpected expense of $306 we made it home. Had to replace the ignition system myself because there arent ANY shops open in my town on the weekend. So what initially turned out to be a simple $100 belt replacement turned into an almost $1000 mission.
The guys at Tuffy on Euclid were super helpful and friendly they explained everything to me about my truck!!! They helped me get the Tuffy Muffler credit card... 👍🏼 It felt so great to drive to work safely 😃 I told everybody at work how awesome they were!! I went in to have my brakes replaced. Service was second to none! The manager took the time and showed me exactly what needed to be fixed and why. They take the time to do the job correctly and don’t push you around like some other companies in the area. I would recommend them to my own mother. I’ll be back when I need other work! I had the horror of horrors. Traveling up north and my car overheated. I pulled of the freeway and the first place I saw was Tuffy auto center. They discovered I needed a water pump and we hoped that would do it. Well, I made the most of a many hour delay in My trip and truly enjoyed the manager and mechanics. they got it done and they were right. I am all fixed! We had a lovely day honestly. They were fun And funny and hard working. It’s a helpless feeling and I was taken care of with honesty and excellent workmanship! I made my journey and my car is all better!
They’re very honest. My quote was much higher than the final bill. I don’t know anything about cars so they could have basically charged me anything and I wouldn’t know the difference. They ended up being able to use a different part, completed the job, and the car was fixed-at a much lower price than quoted. Very friendly, helpful, and honest manager. Nothing but good things to say.

I spent 1000.00 to get my car fixed. They said that they would fix several things. Only a few were fixed and within 2 weeks. I wasnt able to drive my car. I spoke to them. They refused to fix anything, including what they were supposed to fix in the first place, unless I gave them 450.00 more. What a joke
$350 for a Upper Ball Joint and Alignment after I hit a Guardrail. +1 for getting my in right away, and showing me the issue on my truck rather than trying to over-explain it. Ron, the manager was very friendly and easy to work with. They could have a better heater in the waiting room, my feet were freezing, they also could have a bigger TV to watch for the three hours I waited, but they did offer a fresh cup of Coffee.
I am new to town and was recommended to two other shops to perform work on my car but chose Tuffys because they were the only shop open at 7:30 am. All of the gentleman were friendly and customer service oriented. They took the time to actually show me what was wrong with my vehicle and assured me the fix was quick. They upsold me on an engine flush since the initial work I thought was needed was not necessary. These men were able to help a young lady fix her flat tire and still get to work on time while performing maintenance on two other vehicles!!!! Services priced reasonably and will be returning for future work!
Had a used car inspection done. Ended up having ball joints and wheel bearings done. I priced parts and called many different shops. Extremely impressed with this job. I thought I had an exhaust issue which ultimately was not the case. I had a bad experience with an oil change at another place of business only to find out that the oil cap had not been affixed. The folks at Tuffy filled my oil back up (at no additional cost) to ensure I could make it to my destination. I am very appreciative of how accommodating these folks were and plan to have my vehicle maintenance done at Tuffy... The real service pros! Thank you again for your service and assistance!
Our engine temperature and throttle control went haywire on our way home from northern Michigan. We found this place and stopped by about 20 minutes until closing time.They were able to diagnose, get the parts, and replace them and got us home. Great service. I would highly recommend this place.
I took my car in here for cheap oil changes, probably around 4-5 times. I never took it anywhere else because it was so cheap. One day me and my buddy did an oil change on my car and they never replaced the filter. It looked terrible, so we tried replacing it and the new filter wouldn’t fit in the cap. I had to buy a new cap, maybe this was the problem. My question is why wouldn’t they come and tell me they couldn’t replace it? Not one time did they say anything about it. I will never bring a vehicle back to this place! I wouldn’t have been mad at all if they would have told me that from the 1st time. This place is the worst, don’t trust them at all.
I felt they were professional and treated me like my problem was important. I only waiting about 10 minutes to get my car into the garage, where they looked it over and then had me come out so they could show me what was wrong and what it would take to get it fixed. There was a couple of things wrong with it and I asked him if a there was anything I can wait a week or two and he let me know what I could wait on and I decided to get done what I was there for.
Wanted $1K to repair a rusted fuel line. Picked up the parts online for $87 and did it myself in 2 hours.
I had the most wonderful experience at Tuffy. Michael addressed my problem in the most efficient and economical way. When I walked in, I was expecting to spend hundreds, which wasnt ideal right before Christmas. Michael understood that I have an older car and wont be using it for many more years, so I didnt want to replace anything unnecessary. He fixed my issue for a hundred bucks and did not try to add any extras on. Car is running great since!
I went there first thing in the morning and they got me right in. I gotta little hosed on the cost of my brake job but I waited only a short while and my car was ready. They tried to scare me into getting other things done to the car, but I declined. Friendly manager though.
I have literally only reviewed a few places and they have always been for service that goes above and beyond what we would have expected and this is no different. My family (wife, three young kids) and I were on a trip from Wisconsin to Niagara Falls (via the UP) and we had just stayed the night in Midland, MI. We had just gotten on the road again in the morning when our engine started to overheat. After hearing that we would be towed to Tuffys (we had never heard of them!), I called them and explained our situation. The manager assured me that we would be taken care of and that hopefully our trip could continue in no time. Sure enough, when we got there, they immediately checked it over, found the problem (broken Y heater hose connection), replaced it, and had us on our way in less than a couple of hours. Our trip to the Falls remained in place and we had an unbelievable time there thanks to the great service at Tuffys! Totally recommend! Thanks again!
They are the BEST!!! Customers really matter to them!!!So I was driving my girls up from Metro Detroit to Boyne Mountain for our last summer trip. While driving I started hearing scraping so I got off and Google searched for a mechanic. I found them but it was the end of the day and they were closing. All bays were locked up and it was time to go home. I told the store manager and other gentleman what happened and he said his teams were gone but hell look. I told him I could pay him any amount of money and he said hes not taking any money but hes going to look because of our safety.He got down on the gound in the parking lot and saw the issue. He got his gloves and the other gentleman brought him a few things. After a little he had my front underbody shield off the ground and secured. He worked some magic under there!! He told me it wasnt a permanent fix but I would be able to make it safely to my destination!!!I was so relieved and thankful for them going above and beyond at the end of their day. I asked if I could give him a hug!! They were a blessing to me and my girls and Im thankful.Please support a business that knows their stuff and cares about the customers!
Excellent service!! Was able to get me right in to fix a brake line issue and adjust my exhaust. I will be back for sure. Mike, Greg and the guys are some good honest people. Often hard to find nowadays.
Mass Air Filter malfunctioned on our way up north on the Saturday before the 4th of July. They took us in an hour and a half before closing and had us back on the road in an hour. They were helpful, polite and got the job done quickly so we could continue our vacation. I really appreciate their customer service, everyone was so nice.
I stoped in about a month ago and asked to have air put in my tire. The gentleman at the desk was more than helpful and willing! I realized they were busy working on other customer cars but they were able to help me out so I could get to the deal ship to get my tire repaired.

Horrible service. Guy at counter was only person knowledgeable, asked why they were all on their phone around my car for 30 minutes, guy was trying to find videos of the job he had to do, because he didnt know how. And actually said that right to me! And the car is a 5 speed manual, guy who pulled it out hit the key while it was in reverse, and tried to play it off like he didnt even when I watched my car jump back without the engine running!If you care about your vehicle, then go anywhere else but here! Not to mention way over priced for what a nightmare it was...
Beware! I went in for oil change with free tire rotation. They told me I needed front end work and three tires. Also had a paint scrape same color as their bays. Ran fine three days before on way to Saginaw the next day the front end WAS VERY LOOSE. I went to discount tires under tire warranty there was nothing wrong with tires. Beware!
Everyone was very nice.. It took a whileto get my oil changed though especially when they only had 2 cars there... Also the guy ordered thd wrong air filter for my vehicle. He accidentally ordered an air filter for the other car that was there the only good news is I can understand if they were busy but they only had two car other than that the staff was very nice
Will not go back thay inspired the brakes 2 days ago had to re-inspect the brakes and then found more problems that didnt find the first they inspected my brakes I was being charged for things I did not need . You want to change my brake fluid driving cars for 40 years Ive never had to do that

AN HONEST COMPANY..We were traveling north on I75 when I thought I felt a wobble in the steering/ride. It made me nervous so I called around and found Tuffy on Euclid in Bay City. We went there and they took the car for a test drive. Then they put it on the hoist. I asked the tester if he felt anything. He said he felt a little transmission slip and he heard a howling like you would get from a bad wheel bearing. I began to prepare myself for a fight with the manager. I wasnt going to pay for those kinds of repairs without proof of the need. When the manager, Michael took me back to show me the problems he said they couldnt find anything wrong. Everything seemed tight and safe. I offered to pay for the inspection but he refused payment. If I lived in the area I wouold use them for everything.
They wouldnt agree to put brakes on that have already been purchased through a auto parts store and just to do front brakes on my car they said it would cost $189 what a rip off got my man to do them for nothing on his day off

Worst experience ever.. dude has took entirely way to long for an alignment. Been around the block in my vehicle three times now. And are now using torches on my vehicle messing up the integrity of the steel by heating and cooling it
I called for an estimate on my brakes and whoever I talked to was extremely rude. He didnt ask what kind of vehicle I had or anything to provide an educated estimate. Gave me a hard time and treated me like I was the moron.

They did Not tighten down our lugs and we took a trip. The car started making noise and shaky. We had a coupon for oil change with tire rotation. The left all the lug nuts loose, one broke right off it became undriveable. I called Tuffy only to be given BS Answers and lies, such as his saying they didnt even tàke the tire of, when I watched them the whole time from the waiting room. Its sad. I dont know if they did any further damage. The Manager Mike didnt even want to see it. He was rude. He tried to say that while were parked some one loosened the tire. Um really? We went on vacation and drove , it that were to come off our kids, my elderly mom, my grandbaby would all be without my husband or I. Its terrifying.
Traveling out of town and hit a nasty pot hole. Stopped at the nearest repair shop and tuffy was there to help save our vacation. Sam the manager was very helpful and got us back on the road in no time and saved our vacation. Thanks for the great experience.
Best place to get an oil change, they do not try to sell you things you do not need, but do make you aware if there is something that will need attention soon. Very friendly staff! Mike the manager is a super nice guy!

Car broke down on 75 due to a failed alternator on Sunday. Had it towed here and I was able to pick up Monday afternoon. Quick and efficient.

2022-02-23Summary: They fixed the wrong stuff and charged me full price. Car was in the same condition that it arrived in after being stung with a $661 bill. Check out the other 1 star reviews as this is quite common. Take your car to Georges a few blocks up the road, those folks are always honest and reliable.Background: My experience with Tuffy was particularly negative. They misdiagnosed my cars issue and still charged me full price for it, despite my car being in the exact same condition when I left. They unfortunately still charged me full price ($661) for this non-fix.I left an honest negative Google review describing my experience. Only after the review was left did Tuffy offer do anything about it, offering a measly 1/2 refund if I took down my negative, yet honest Google review. I immediately did, then they ghosted me and over 1 month later I still havent received any money back.Look at the other 1 star reviews on their page. They fix the wrong stuff and stick the customer with the bill all the time. Another woman got charged over $1,500 because they misdiagnosed her truck too. Take your car here at your own risk.Or, take it to Georges up the road and have it fixed properly.

2022-02-23My husband and I took a car there to have it fixed about a month ago. They fixed the wrong stuff and the car had the same problems when we picked it up, yet they still charged us almost $700 for it.My husband and I left them a bad review online and they said theyd give us half our money back if we deleted our honest negative reviews. We did, then they ghosted us and we havent seen any money back yet.Weve never had this problem when taking our car to Georges down the street. I highly recommend you proceed with caution at Tuffy as this seems to be a common occurrence. Just look at the other 1 star reviews they have....

2022-06-17Went for a coolant flush because they had the most fair price, but they called and said they would not do it because of a bigger problem within the system. I am so glad that they did an inspection prior to the flush. And they didnt even charge me. That was awesome! That doesnt happen too often in the world that we live in.

2022-06-17Called to see if they do some quick exhaust work. The guy on the phone said not a problem they were finishing up a couple of cars and then they would be free. He told me to come over. So I show up with 2 open bays and a couple of guys walking around not busy. So I go to the front counter and the Manger comes in. I told him what I would like done. Which remove the bad flex on the drive side behind the catalytic converter and just put a piece of pipe in. He told he He wanted to replace the flex because in time it would put to much strain on the exhaust system and would break manifold bolts. The problem with him trying to up sell me is there isnt a flex on the passenger side and the whole exhaust system is connected. Then all of a sudden he had 4 appointment coming and didnt have any time to do it until Tuesday of the following week. His B.S. might of worked on a non car guy. My problem with his B.S. is when any exhaust shop puts true duals on anything they NEVER put flex pipes in the system. But some reason it wouldnt work on my car. Ive done business with tuffys in the past and I think its going to stay that way.

2022-06-07Recently had my brakes changed on my SUV due to a warning noise I came in Lauren was the best ever at getting me a better price then my first estimate from another shop very tentative to peoples needs listens carefully and gets the job done right everytime very knowledgeable answers all my questions truthfully I would highly recommended anyone and everyone to take their vehicle to tuffy auto and see Lauren and the group. 2022-05-12TRIED to make an appt but they told me I didnt need one and to come anytime. So I did-2pm, after work. Yet the counter attendant told me he was too busy (to put 2 tires on) and Id have to COME BACK ANOTHER day??? (Went to Millars Goodyear & got 2 new tires in 30 minutes installed that day, better tire/price. And they were busier than Tuffy.) When I asked about a question I had about my car also, the counter attendant was arrogant and not friendly and offered no suggestions as to what he thought the problem could be. I thought they were a full service center? Ive never had car service center NOT offer suggestions as to the problem and/or possibilites likewise of repairs that they can do- to increase their business!!! My money went elsewhere yesterday and I wont go back for repairs of any kind.TUFFY: DONT tell people they can come anytime if they cant!Take the time to answer customers questions, dont just say It could be anything. THAT says you dont know anything if you cant offer anything?Treat customers who walk thru the door with respect and with friendliness. THEY HAVE YOUR PAYCHECK IN THEIR WALLET!

2022-03-19These guys are very dishonest. Tried to get me to spend thousands on my car, took it to my trusted mechanic and they said there was nothing wrong with my car. They will lie and show you the nonexistent problem relying on you not knowing much about cars. Very evil business.
