Comment: UPDATE:We did not have a good experience (see below), but I changed them to a five star because of Jennifer the manager and how she reached out to us and followed up with the complaint. She was very kind and apologetic about the poor service we received. We really appreciated her follow up and the return was great and went well. It is sad that businesses can be impacted by the poor customer service by one staff member. We are thankful for the follow up. Thanks Jennifer for your professionalism and treating a customer with respect.First post with a one star rating:The experience from start to finish was bad. Dealing with one particular staff member. The trailer they rented to us was in fair condition, when there was a nicer one right next to it.We returned the trailer by 7pm on the day it was due like we were suppose to but they would not take it, saying it was suppose to be there before the time they allotted. IF they needed it returned before 7pm, then they should explain that.Not that they care if we are a returning customer, but we will not use this location again, the customer service was terrible from start to finish. I feel bad for the person that owns this franchise/store, they will continue to lose customers with this staff member treated customers so poorly. We thought maybe she was having a bad day when we picked up the trailer, but NOPE, she was the same person when we attempted to drop off. I would give a 1/2 Star if possible.

Comment: Truck worked well, fast transaction.However, (1) they always say the fuel is higher than it really is when you get the truck, to get you to pay extra for gas on return. Be sure to take a picture and submit it with the Uhaul app of the where the fuel really is. Otherwise they charge an extra $25 or so.And (2) usually the tie down for the equipment in the truck is already broken when they give you the truck, but then they say it shows you used the dolly and charge you an extra $8.So, I dont mind the added cost I just wish it wasnt a scam. Just charge more for the rental, dont try and scam me.

Comment: Jennifer in the office was great. She helped us pick boxes and explained the different weight capacity of each type of box sold. Got a truck to take stuff to a storage unit. Bed of truck still had debris from previous renter and on return we were blamed for some rear end damage . We had the insurance so its not a big issue but to have someone continuously ask what I ran into when I know it wasnt what happened definitely angered me. We didnt know we were supposed to do a walk around of the truck and take photos of anything that could be an issue before leaving the lot when renting. Honestly the way the man came at us made me feel like it was a scam and that they try to pocket check people. Highly recommend taking several photos of any vehicle rented from this location including interior.Wish I would have read the reviews for this location before renting from here

However, please make sure contract information is reviewed before printing/renting (although I also could/should have done so myself). Whats your name..... address....hey, its on the ID Im thinking....alternate phone....sorry none....system requires it.....OK, heres a fane number and name.....she then slides my CC back to me and I grab both and head out....you havent paid yet....I flop it on the desk....Ill get my Mgr (the owner), since youre throwing your cardOwner then proceeded to be just as rude.Day before during reservation owner asked if I had 2 hitch ball, did not indicate a 4 pin connector is on all trailers, because they want you to have to buy the adapter $16.So bring a 4 pin adapter when you rent at a DIFFERENT Uhaul.

Comment: Tried to tow it back 2 times even though I paid every day until the app glitched and changed the name on my profile and wouldnt let me pay it. It was due back at 1 in the morning and store was closed. When I called because the tow truck was at the truck and he said to call and it they said it was okay he wouldnt. I said Id pay for it but I locked my card because I didnt know if you gave away my information or someone was trying to steal it. My anxiety, panic attacks and agoraphobia was so bad I wasnt making sense and I didnt want to drive the truck that way. She said we cant it was already ordered. She might have tried to run my card but because it was locked it wouldnt go through. And now they want me to pay 3 hundred and something for them towing even though I paid for road service that includes tow😱

Comment: I recommend skipping this uhaul, first the druggie working there twist the chain too many times and I find this out when I return the trailer only to be yelled at by the owner on how this is my fault. I never touched or even looked at the chain. Owner needs to take a chill pill and maybe hire competent employees that dont act like tweakers. This could have turned bad while driving with the trailer putting peoples lives in danger.

And then recently I returned to pick up after hours and somebody must have clipped it on the back right bumper, and now I have to eat the charges for that because apparently they dont have cameras and its just my fault. Its upsetting when stuff like this happens and the company is unwilling to work with the customer. Definitely will be taking my business elsewhere. Sad to lose such a long relationship with U-Haul.

Comment: U HAUL GOT CUTSo hear me out about a phone call I had from this location, Last week I rented a tow dolly from Van Nuys u- haul in city of Van Nuys in Los Angeles. Paid fully for a one way or return to pick up place plus insurance. So I dropped the dolly in the same place I rented from and left a week later I received a phone call from this in Sacramento U-haul station that were is the tow dolly I explained that I dropped it at van nuys station as I rented from and was checked in why. She then told me that no we don’t see it and it will be reported as stolen property that your responsible. Told her that I don’t care what you’re about to do I had insurance so I don’t care about it. But then I start thinking about it that this is how that U-haul as a company is getting bigger and bigger with no competition and reporting for stolen property to claim under insurance. poor customer already has paid the deductible for all this equipment. U-haul is in the business of FROUD INSURANCE. They still have their equipment and making more money on a rental when they claim it under insurance. BTW the lady on the phone had a Terrible customers service training and very rude attitude. I think U- haul just find her in Strip club and Hired her as an employee with no training how to talk to customers or maybe they did trained her to talk to care stormer in that way and report for stolen property for the Purpose of fraud insurance.

Then when I spoke about this being unreasonable, I was answered with a frustrating tone sayin I can cancel your reservation if you want. I answered by saying yet again this doesn’t seem reasonable and my reservation isn’t for a local move. The lady responded by hanging up on me? Could have easily just apologized for the inconvenience? Nope I get hung up on!

I had a Ubox stored here and every time I needed access they were very quick! Typically they need 24 hr notice but I was able to text a number to confirm access and they always responded NO PROBLEM! great experience I wish every portion of moving was taken with such care and flexibility as U haul El Camino has made it!

Comment: Propane pricing scamThe only reason I brought my tanks to this U-Haul location to get filed is the discounted price of $2.49 per gallon. I just had to say its alternative fuel for a propane-powered vehicleI can have someone come to me and fill my tanks for $3.50 per gallon. Why would anyone bring their tanks to this location to be filled for $3.61 per gallon? When the average price for propane in CA is only $3.24 per gallon.This guy Ernie gives me trouble every time he fills my tanks. My tanks are only 3 years old and look new. Ernie always says my tanks are out of date and he will not give the price discount his manager told me about.The manager of this location Melissa Easley is the one that told me because my tanks are over 5 gallons and are used for a RV aka propane-powered vehicle I get a discount. Now for some reason this location and manager can pick and choose who is eligible for a discount. I should not have to start providing documentation on what Im using the propane in.With all the different replies U-Haul Customer Service has sent me I expect higher standards in training and with more consistent pricing throughout Locations, Managers and Employees.I am very disappointed in the changes this location has made. After 2 1 /2 years of being a repeat U-Haul customer Im going to look for a more reputable company to start doing business with. Somewhere that wants to keep me coming back year after year and wont treat me like Im lying about the use of my propane.

Comment: Poor customer service. I rented a 17 truck with the $0.89c per mile included on $ 57.9. When I returned the truck, she wanted $118. Then she said that I have charged you for 2 days and my co-worker will fix this. Her co-worker also charged me over $30 for furniture pads which I havent rented. I asked her to refix the price, but she only gave me $10 and charged me $20 for the furniture pads. Instead of $57.9, they charged me $72.55.

Id made several frustrating calls, until I reached U-Haul at El Camino. The lady I spoke to took the time to check several other locations, and found a truck available at a time and place that worked for me.She could have just said, sorry, we dont have what youre looking for. But instead took the time to take care of me and changed a very stressful situation into quite a positive experience. She turned my whole day around, and I am very grateful!!

Comment: Expect to be here so long you grow old & die. I had an appointment at 12:30 to install a tow-hitch. That takes 3 hours. You have to wait in line inside & sign paperwork before they will touch your vehicle. The line to sign paperwork is another 3 hours of your life. By the time we got to the register to sign paperwork, we were told they dont have the parts anymore! Dont come here! EVER!!!!!!!

The day of pick up they sent an email approx 2.5 hours before we were supposed to arrive that our time and reservation location had changed to something that would not work. Did not learn of the change until we arrived because I did not see the email until after. We were told that they had other trucks available but that would be an upcharge or get one without a ramp, which we needed as we were moving a piano. This was a problem with U-Haul as a company.The location is not all that great or organized either. We had to wait in line for 45 minutes as they only had one person working the counter on a Saturday morning, which one would think would be a busy day for people moving.

Comment: This place has a lot of trucks, but theyre not very organized and seem understaffed. There were only two people at the counter and both were dealing with customers for about 10 minutes before we were helped. By that time, a huge line had formed. When we got our truck, the check engine light was in so we had to wait while they switched it out and then we had to wait again because they forgot to get the correct paperwork for the new truck. Everyone was friendly but they could really use some efficiency training and additional staff.

Comment: Getting the truck and the actual truck were fine, but the check in at the end of the rental was not positive. The woman at check in was very unprofessional, barking orders at me to help her check the light bulbs on the truck before she would finish the check in. The light bulbs on the truck are in no way anything that a person renting a vehicle would be responsible for, much less being held hostage and forced to help check them. By the time it was all said and done, I was expecting her to demand I change the oil on the truck.

Comment: My daughter was charged more than double milage for a truck rental from this store. She did not check the original milage written on her receipt. They kept her deposit and wanted more money. She has been charged an additional late fee. There is no reasoning with these people. They also tried to say she returned it to a different U Haul location to get additional money from her but have since dropped that claim. She has calculated her exact milage via google showing the routes she took. It is way too aggravating to deal with this sort of thing but some things are just not right. She will file with the BBB but this is unlikely to change anything. If you use this store make sure you check everything, especially what is written on the receipt. Dont trust that they will get it right.

Comment: Been coming hear for about 14 years! I dont call and compare prices. I just come to this store and every time I get the same experience.This last time I checked out things online. I called and they answered on the 3rd ring. They lady and I talked about the prices, took my credit card number, and gave me a reservation. I called letting them know I was going to be 30 minutes late to pick it up. No problem. They rescheduled my pick up. Arrived only to realize I selected a truck way to big - 26 feet. Within 10 minutes had me in another more suitable truck - 17 feet. Again, no problem. The truck was clean and ran well. I brought it back and the guy took my word for how much gas was in the tank when I left. Quick and easy turn in with no waiting in line. He dialed in my info on some iPhone thing, added the mileage, and checked me out. I was on my way.Will be coming back here for my next rental, again.

Comment: I requested to install hitch on my new Honda CRV. i was disappointed the way they did it. i took it back spoke to Rhonda, she immeditely made me an appintment to see Bret Johnson, who istalled it. Meeting with Bret was great, very cool and helpful. He made me so comfortable and explained me how he can fix it and why he installed the way it is now. He took care of it in 1hr, very please with the service. Both Rhonda and Bret are great.Suggestion: they do a good job but be clear in advance what are you expecting, it will eliminate extra trips.
