Comment: Thieves and liars. Efran is violently volatile— cursed and hung up on me multiple times. I do not feel physically safe to go there in person to check on the vehicle which they allege that I damaged— I returned the vehicle in the exact condition it was given. When I received the contract, there were 10 extra miles on it, and a damage charge. This location has tried to put extra mileage on my contract in the past, also. Do not trust this location. They also have an extra $14 facility fee that can be avoided by using other u-haul locations.

Comment: The van was dirty, smelly, and dinged up, in addition to the initial fuel level being below 3/4. I felt disgusted each time I drove it. There was what looked like sneeze spatter across the steering wheel/dash, a cigarette burn in the driver’s side seat, and a disgusting smell of body odor and cigarettes. There was dog food and garbage behind the passenger seat. This was my first time renting from this location and it was by far the dirtiest of all the vehicles I have rented in my long history with UHaul. I will never rent from this location again.

Comment: This store is great, you can actually get parking there, the staff are very helpful and helped carry all the supplies to my car, every u-haul store basically tells you that there is a cart that you can take to your car, even though there is 5 employees sitting there doing nothing, while the cart is great not all the boxes fit in the cart, so it was extremely refreshing to go to this store and when I asked for a cart the guy said he would take the boxes to my car, and he did so thank you so much

Comment: Gas 13G stolen overnight parked right in front of store. Store manager Efren was suspiciously aggressive and forceful that I was liable due to contract. For a crime that happened on his property.The night before the U-Haul app was broken, not able to do gps locate and do self check-in of vehicle after trip. Though I had used it the day before ok. App had me click night delivery link as a backup which I completed and dropped the key. I took photos of the exterior and Also had photos proving odometer only went 5 miles. The crime took place right in their private lot as indicated in photo. Store is taking no precautions nor would Efren answer if there were security cameras. You do the math and conclude who you think is responsible for these crimes. With much time and effort, I got $100 gas charges refunded by calling the main U-Haul number and reporting. Now its a job for the police.Follow up: Jan 30 2024. It seems that in retaliation for this review and experience, The store manager Efren attempted to ban me from doing any business at U-Haul by filing some kind of e-alert. After calling the main number they said that this is against the rules and they reversed it to just ban me from doing business at his store. Despite the fact that I clearly submitted a customer service incident, the main U-Haul number would not assist me in proper justice. This reflects badly on their corporate policy allowing managers to retaliate against customers and operate with impunity.

In the end both the staff and manager on duty said it was not their problem so I overpaid. Lesson: dont go for any special offers they might give you in store- stick with what you booked on the website.

Comment: Understaffed during peak times - which leads to rude, overworked, employees who have no problem berating customers for not being mind readers. Returning trucks after hours is a pain on busy days where the small parking lot fills up - and parking on the street is not allowed. Ive been several times but wont return again after I showed up < 1 hour late (because the movers I ordered through uhaul were going to be 5 hours late!!) and was reprimanded and belittled by the staff in front of other customers for two minutes straight while I stood there saying nothing... over nothing. The truck was still there - there was no actual problem - but it didnt stop the staff from using me as an emotional punching bag just because they were frustrated and overworked. Completely unprofessional. Happy to go out of my way to a different branch to avoid this one.

Ultimately, the refunded amount was half of what it really should have been.P.S: I had to fill up twice, because the 1st time it still showed the tank on the reservation but I couldnt do the online check-out (I wouldnt go ahead if I said it was on the reservation and I didnt want to lie). Then, I refueled the 2nd time, and with 1/8 of a tank I managed.

Comment: I had a horrible encounter with this U-Haul manager (kind of long ear length hair with scruffy face male) who has the most crooked manner ever. He was scoffing when I was describing the situation to him instead of trying his best to assist me. I have a recording from this encounter and I am heading to the head of the office for his actions.I went in to look for 7 ft tall canvas rolled up art piece that were left on the truck along with the NEW two golden and blue blankets THAT DO NOT LOOK LIKE TRASH at all. Apparently they threw ll of them aways without notifying. They thought the two 7 ft rolled up canvas and three new blankets with the dolly were all trash so they just dumbed them without notifying the person who rented the truck. I went back to the office first thing on Monday morning to look for them. I found one of the two 7 ft rolled up canvas next to their dumpster but another one was missing. All of these could have been avoided if they contacted us before tossing all of these 7 items that dont look like trash at all. The guy was newly hired employee and seemed like he was not trained well for the company according to the crooked manager I talked to today. I have the recording of him mentioning that as well. It he admitted that they first thing he should have done is apologizing instead of making fun of me. The loss from this encounter is $1200. I will not let this go with this crooked manager!

Comment: This store singularly turned what was a uniquely terrible, I-will-never-shop-with-Uhaul-again experience into a good one thanks to Andrew and Efrem. I will never go back to another uhaul store.4 months ago I made a reservation with Uhaul in SF for the busy burning man period. I needed to extend the rental by a day so I called central Uhaul and asked them to do this. The agent ended up changing the dates to the completely wrong dates. By the time I discovered this after the call, I called Uhaul back again and was told they no longer had availability for the dates I was looking for. I was dumbfounded. And then discovered the only place I could get a truck booked at that time was down in San Jose.Long story short I ended up getting that rental and had to spend the extra time, energy, and gas money to do so. I continued to hit roadbump after roadbump with Uhaul along the way. It was truly a horrendous customer service experience and inspires a long list of what-not-to-do.BUT - then I met Andrew (Frank), the GM of this store, and his assistant manager Efrem. When I went into their store to ask for help in figuring out my dropoff, they went above and beyond to ensure a) I felt heard and understood and b) that the best possible solution was achieved.Andrew and Efrem are the only reason I will ever shop with Uhaul again. Had they not appeared in my life, I would have written off Uhaul forever and gone to Budget/other competitors.Long story short - If youre shopping Uhaul - go to this location and work with Andrew and Efrem!

Comment: Professional, courteous and gave helpful suggestions on using the 24/7 Share app. Even though I was using the app and was technically not suppose to require any assistance the U-haul associates at the counter politely gave some helpful pointers. When returning the van and using the app, noting mileage and gas level and trying to submit pics was starting to become frustrating and clearly from no fault on my end, the outside associate kindly helped me out and made what was turning into a frustrating experience a smooth and successful one. I even took the extra time and made it a point to walk back inside the store and let the closing manager know how from check out to check in my U-Haul experience was exceptional because of the customer service from all the associates. Ive used this particular U-Haul location several times now and will always return because of the customer service that they give.

On the positive side the staff were very polite and patient as we contacted our bank to transfer funds from one account to another to cover the cost of the truck. We were happily surprised by the cleanliness of the truck when we picked it up. Previous experiences with U-Haul we have gotten moving trucks that were less than clean.

Comment: Needed a Van to pick up a brand new wall size television at Best Buy which is only a few blocks away and deliver it to my home same day. I called prior to and they had the Van ready for me when I arrived by setting up a reservation. its best to call before you go down there that way you can be in-and-out and on your way. The only drawback was that I didnt get my receipt As I returned the Van and for that I had to take one star. Ive never been anywhere where I have made a purchase or services where I didnt get my receipt immediately upon payment and thats a Concern for me.

Comment: One of the worst customer experiences Ive had. I rented a truck on Monday, returned it the same evening. I noticed that my house key was missing and that I might have left it in the truck and tried to call the location but they were closed. I wasnt entirely sure so I kept searching and all the other places it could have been. On Wednesday I get a call from U-Haul saying that they have my keys. Since I was out of town on Thursday I called them back on Friday morning to ask when I can come to pick it up. The general manager Miley banks answered the call and mentioned that she was the one who called about the keys but now cant find the keys.When I asked them to search for the keys she became really aggressive and started saying how I should be more responsible about the keys and that it was my fault that I left it there. She refused to take any responsibility for losing the keys on her end. Her voice message did not say that they were going to throw away the keys or anything like that. To top it all, the number she gave me to call back was wrong (3228 instead of 3328)When I questioned her about taking a responsibility for it, she hung up on me. When I tried calling back she or anybody in that location does not pick up the phone. Avoid this location like the plague if you can.

Comment: DO NOT USE MOBILE 24/7 SERVICE, there are a bunch of hidden fees and broken web tools that dont work. Front lot employees are great. Lot filled with vehicles when returning, very disorganized. Mobile drop off after hours broke on the app AND website. After a 20min phone line wait, a friendly call center employee bailed us out. If planning to use Uhaul, dont plan on picking up or dropping off after-hours. Update: they charged me an extra 20 for after hours service fee despite me doing everything I could with them to make sure that wouldnt be charged. Oh well. Never again.

Comment: Regarding the advertising that it’s $19.95 to rent a van for a day: really no suprise to any adult that that is too good to be true. Still, the way that you will end up paying $50 (plus $12 for gas, even if you only drive 12 miles), even if you bring your own insurance, ends up feeling a little like a scam of the “false advertising” variety.Of course there’s a catch: at this location, it’s a $14.00 “facilities fee”. ( oh sorry, $13.95), which is built into the small print of the million billboards advertising “$19.95 a day! (Plus taxes and fees)”Of course one expects taxes, in this case a $3.95 rental tax and a $0.16 City of San Francisco Healthcare Surcharge (wow, socialism once again shafting hardworking capitalists with onerous wealth redistribution!).But, there is definitely something skeevy about dangling that $19.95 rental when the hidden fee alone almost doubles the amount...I feel bad for the less jaded actually broke college student for whom the difference could mean a medium cheese pizza...c’mon U-haul, you got us already, you gotta pickpocket our expectations so coldly?As for the gas, watch out...we checked the van out w 3/8 of a gallon...after driving 12 miles around town, it had gone down to 1/4...no problem! Figured 2 gallons would cover that diff...but at the station the needle would not seem to go up to the magic line...finally put in over 3 gallons and gave up. Even if the guage still read just over 1/4, i would not conceed that this vehicle got LESS THAN 3 MILES PER GALLON and stormed back to the lot, gas receipt in hand. Interestingly, as we drove the couple blocks back to home base, the needle SLOWLY rose to announce that we had bought U-Haul a 1/8 gal of gas. So, lesson? Put in your gas early and let it settle in? Question? Do they have their guages set to register very slowly so that everyone ends up subsidizing their fuel costs? Sounds crazy, but so is renting a cargo van for $20 a day (sorry, $19.95)

Comment: Terrible customer experience!I precisely rent from a physical location because I dont want to download the app they tell you to use. Well they dot care! I showed up in person and I had to use my own phone to get the keys!After 30min of signing up, verifying my email, scanning my own ID, taking a picture of my face, entering my passport information, verifying an alternate phone number, and entering the gas level and odometer myself, I finally got the keys!!! Oh and the app was so buggy a staff member had to do the process all over again for me on my phone! Even opening a bank account is easier and faster!Anyway U-Haul, you thought you could save money by having the customer do the job of your staff and replace all of it by an app and an army of low wage monkeys in India. Sorry to tell you Im never gonna rent a truck with you again.

I cant underscore this enough: this truck may have never in its life been cleaned. I doubt any human being could sit in that truck with the windows up for more than 2 minutes. It was new, very clean, and ran well. Other reviewers have mentioned a bad smell - while off-putting at first, I quickly discovered that it was just the natural smell of the rubber floor-liner. I received great service from the staff, and the billing was correct with no extra charges. Id gladly rent from this location again. Keep it up, guys.

Comment: I went to this U-Haul location yesterday to rent a rug cleaner. OK, this is not your typical Valencia street store but there it is half-way between Martunis and Stuff. While waiting my turn, I noticed a few features. For example, you will not suffer heat exhaustion here, there are both fans (the antique-y kind with pull chord lamps) and air conditioning. They have a large variety of very affordable cartons and other moving stuff. I noticed they had over a dozen vans and pick-ups parked outside and under the freeway. As if anyone would ever want to move away from SF. The vehicles were available in three different sizes, one of which will probably do great for your next tailgate party. BTW, the rug cleaner rental worked fine, recommended!
