I wish I could give this place a zero. The worst customer service Ive ever had anywhere in my life. I booked it to move after my boyfriend died August 2 . I was told that the uhaul on 8 Mile and telegraph would have a truck for meOne in particular was named Ashley. She followed me and my sister out to our car screaming. I showed up for my reserved uhaul at 1pm and was told they didnt even have a truck. They were beyond rude while trying to help me and just kept saying it wasnt theyre fault. My point was why couldnt you have called me to inform me that you didnt have a truck??? Refused to give me the $50 credit for breaking my reservation and proceeded to call me and my sister every name in the book please avoid this place. Theres a uhaul at 9 and telegraph.... Go there. They were amazing and had me in a truck in 10 minutes. And they also informed me that most of their business is from the 8 Mile store due to their attitude.
Uhaul is definitely your one stop shop for your moving needs. They even offer to assist you with your moving by sending actual help. Pretty cool huh. I like it even more that i can make reservations any day of the week or any time of the day or night. This helps me out so much due to my busy schedule . God bless Uhaul and all of their workers.
I rented a 10 U-Haul which they had and was in excellent condition, but I also rented a tow dolly. Not only did they not have the tow-dolly, but I was called the day before to confirm that they had my order (which they did not). It was memorial day weekend, but still I should have been informed if half my order was not plausible. The staff was friendly, but could not solve the problem. The staff in Cincinatti also failed to provide the $50 rebate which was provided in Wisconsin by another dealer. Convenient location, but not the best U-Haul joint in the business though.
Went here two days in a row to get a rental truck the people that clean the trucks out is on their job but customer service there is awful I will never go to this place again and i stay right down the street.They need Real management whoever own this place probably don’t care anyway, won’t get a dime from me ever!
I rented a U-Haul in Columbus Ohio drove it here one way left it at this particular Uhaul had to get a storage I really appreciate the fact that they gave me a month storage free for dropping off the truck there its very clean Ive never had a problem with me getting in and getting out but I want to rent a van there yesterday they had none available the staff is decent
This location is not adequately staffed. Its took over 45 minutes to get checked in. The gentleman who was checking folks in was also the only person who could do propane. There was one guy walking around with a phone in his hand, some times with a broom... He should have been able to at least assist with the getting cx into their reservations. The staff was polite but the wait was unacceptable.
I went to the location on telegraph between 7 and 8 mile where the old kmart use to be. My cashier greeted me with a smile. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. If I ever need another truck, this is the location. I highly recommend that for your moving needs, go to this location.❤❤
Excellent customer service from Ashley and Angie! Staff was wonderful, very polite and attentive. Ashley checked us out for a truck with no problems, she did the Covid-19 check and additional cleaning before we got in the vehicle and explained all details of the mileage and gas usage! Angie checked us back in with no problems at all! I will be using this location for all of my moving needs. I would definitely recommend this location for U-haul services!
Making sure conversations is a little more professional and making sure the team is aligned with what the customer asked for example If I didnt check the truck I wouldnt have known the dolly had to be requested also making sure when giving out equipment have the outside person explain where the Dropbox is and if anything is required to complete a return via the app once returning.
The location and agents were just fine.The moving truck was in terrible shape, I dont know how it passed inspection, the transmission seemed to be slipping, every bump i hit sounded like the shocks/struts were falling apart (gave me a headache), the dashboard was falling apart (packaging tape holding it up, kept falling down), the front of the headliner was falling down, stuff falling in my face (SAFETY HAZARD). The online pickup option is a joke, my truck was switched 3 different times while I was standing there waiting on approval. Approval took 15-20 minutes. I took some pictures but there is no way to upload them. With that being said, I will be using Penske or Budget Rentals in the future
On top of being rude in general during our truck rental process, the manager, Angela, would not honor what the phone customer service promised for the storage unit we reserved.I was told twice my 1st month would be free. U-Haul records calls so that could easily be confirmed since I knew exactly when I called.We left & tried customer service on the phone again, which after 40minutes on hold said there was nothing they could do (untrue as they could have applied a credit).So after the terrible experience, I went with a slightly more expensive storage company who didn’t have a first month free but much better service.I wonder if people do math in these situations? For the length of time I’m probably storing items they would have made 15-18 times the value of 1 free month. During these times, if I’m spending upwards of $3000 somewhere, I want to at least like the business. It’s worth it to spend more with a smaller company who values my patronage. I’m an event producer so I move & store things frequently. This is the 3rd strike for U-Haul & they’ll never see my money again.
The staff was very nice, and very helpful. I needed a rental just for a few hours, and they allowed me to use one that had a hold on it. I was able to finally get everything out of my exwifes house because they took the chance to let me use a truck, and have it back at before a certain time.
Called and Ashley answered. Her 1st response was Hold not Can I please place you on a BRIEF HOLD, just hold. When I did get a response it was after holding for 19 mins. I only held to see HOW LONG I WOULD HAVE TO HOLD. I am big on customer service, and I feel I should have been asked to hold, and then someone should have come back several times to let me know they hadnt forgotten about me.VERY DISAPPOINTED!
I came in to buy a truck and a heavy set staff was very rude she yelled I didn’t have enough money to buy a truck. I am very offended and she doesn’t need to be in customer service. She should be fired!!!!!!!!! Another staff Ashley helped me and was very nice. Hopefully when I come back to purchase the truck I can get the same professional service Ashley gave me I will not deal with that particular staff at all. U-Haul need to choose wisely who they have dealing with customers that heavy set staff shouldn’t be there she’s not professional AT ALL!!!!!!!
This U-Haul has very unique people Ronnie the manager off the chain good customer service Craig he never Smiles but if you get a smile out of them youre doing good but he knows his job and I think the guys name is Deshawn who handles the storage pretty smile great customer service those three right there make this U-Haul awesome and I came from California to move my sister it was so last minute but they were able to accommodate wrong with the truck boxes and a storage I highly recommend this U-Haul on Telegraph Road its since in the exact spot where Kmart used to be cant miss it
The staff here and the actual branch is five stars, but the company deserves only one star. The online user interface is AWFUL - everything about this experience was wonderful except the stuff that the Uhaul branch cannot control (the now required online check in and check out interface). It does not work and the employee, who was already clocked out, had to manually do the return for me. Thank you to her (I wish I had gotten her name) - unfortunately I cannot recommend using Uhaul anymore, as this is now the second time I have faced major issues with the online interface. Will not be back, and hope the staff can move to a new truck rental location (honestly with this job market, and their skills, they should be able to easily).
This place is amazing such great workers there so kind polite great customer service and the manager Mr. Clarence and the general manager Dwayne great job if we could get all the u-Haul places to have a store like your telegraph store that be great the store nice and clean and they even have free soft mints so if you need uhaul services and want people that will take care of you the right way go to 19990 telegraph rd detroit keep up the good work.
Large facility, expect a long wait even if youre second in line. Be aware of safety hazards. I couldve SERIOUSLY INJURED myself in the bathroom where the floor had just been mopped or waxed! I did not expect to lose my footing like that. On my way out, I saw that the sign was outside the door! Why not IN the bathroom?!
I will never use U-Haul again they didnt have any U-Hauls available they let the line accumulate and no one in the for customer service let any people know that they didnt have any rentals available let us stand in the line for 20 30 minutes then I had to ask excuse me maam do you have any she said we dont have any rentals so they didnt put a note on the door that was on the 30th and I feel was Black Friday they know everybody is buying and moving they should have had a note attached to the door or they should have told customers every time they step in the door that they didnt have any rentals and that was all over the place that 8 Mile and Southfield Joy road and Evergreen ever U-Haul location was booked up yesterday so I dont think Ill ever use U-Haul again cuz theyre really rude obnoxious and they dont have no type of customer service
The cashier/attendant was not friendly at all and was constantly talking to the other attendants while waiting on me. She didn’t even bother to look in my direction as I tried to complete my transaction. When I finally got the keys to the truck, it was not clean. There was trash in the cup holder, it had a cardboard visor still in the windshield and it smelled terrible. There was only 1/4 tank of gas in the truck when I received the keys. When I returned the truck, I filled it with the 1/4 tank of gas I was given and I was still charged for gas. I will not rent from this location again. I will not recommend this location to anyone and I will strongly consider options other than Uhaul in the future.
The owner & store manager Angela saved my reservation & my moving day with their hard work and dedication to a customer left with no options because all trucks are gone within the whole metro area even though I booked my truck 20 days in advanced. They did not give up! They found a truck 50 minutes away and personally drove me to pick up my moving truck. I’m so thankful for the relentless effort put in by the owner and staff and would not have moving day without them. Thank you for everything I can’t say enough about your business.
The representative at the telegraph near 8 mile location was not helpful and extremely short with patience! Also my reservation called for a furniture and appliance dolly . Neither of which were available. It took over an hour to retrieve the USA and I had reserved it in advance
The gal at the desk was okay but the 8 truck was dirty. I rented the vehicle for 4 hours. Left the office at 10:30 and returned it at 1:30. I stopped and put $10.00 of gas in (there was an $8.80 fuel credit). All of this seemed fine. Then I found I was charged $34.34 extra! Called and they said I went over miles. I DID NOT! What kind of a scam is this? When they have your card # they can charge you anything they want to. This is very upsetting. I trusted they were giving me the correct miles out and miles upon return. My advice is to check your mileage when you pick up the vehicle and when you return it. Even take a phone picture of the odometer because you might be cheated also. I will NEVER use this location again!Customer beware!
Angela was working the front desk when I picked up my truck and she was so helpful, she actually made my whole day and move better. I noticed she was the only one in there and she hopped on a second computer to help myself and another guest so neither of us had to wait long at all! She was cheerful, polite, kind and Im really happy she was the person handling my truck rental. I highly recommend this location, the people are friendly, the trucks are clean, and they are mindful of social distancing! Someone give Angela a raise or something, seriously.
One employee working both registers on a Sunday. I had an 11:00 reservation that I finally got at 11:45. Customers were fighting with each other in line and it was a little unnerving. The one employee also had to go fill propane tanks. Very unorganized, will try a different location next time.
Weve been using UHaul for years with no problem. Unfortunately the past 2 visits were very disappointing. They failed to honor our reservations on both occasions and this last time completely messed up our vacation. We had to rearrange our entire trip and missed an entire day due to the run around we were given. Very dissatisfied
I was charged for a dolly and there was not a dolly in the truck and I was double charged for SafeMove, online the cost shows as $14 and I was charged $28. Being overcharged and charged for a tool I never had access to, negates any positive experience I may have had onsite.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE 48219 LOCATION. Manager Angela is not truthful and does not operate by Best Business Practices. I had no access to my storage unit for 12 hours. In the morning, Uhaul activated my swipe card. Then my storage unit had a locked tag on it. Angela makes a agreement to remedy my inconvenience AND the terrible customer service THEN 5 days later bills me for charges that are the mistakes of Uhaul and caused me a great inconvenience and trouble. I am not satisfied with this Uhaul location. I am not satisfied with the Manager, Angela. This location and management is grossly unprofessional.
I reserved a trailer the day before. Everything seemed to be fine. I received a confirmation email. I pre checked in. But when I got there that morning they had no idea who I was or what I reserved. The telegraph location in Southfield set me up with the reservation to pick up the equipment at the telegraph in Detroit store. Both stores went above and beyond to accommodate what I need it. How was my reservation botched when it was all set. It really could have ruined my day if it wasnt for the 2 stores that handled everything above and beyond they saved the day after the reservation department some how dropped the ball.
I had a learning experience which I consider a good thing. I actually did everything through my phone. I ordered, I arrived, I showed my screen, keys issued, I inspected the vehicle and was swooosh! Finished my task, refueled, returned with keys in the ignition and I was swooosh! Uhaul email me my receipt. Game over. No lines, No paperwork, No questions, No necessary unnecessary dialogue.(Pay attention to the options while ordering. I think Uhaul has set it up in a way that options could be mistakingly added to your order. You may need to uncheck options.)
I had a reservation for 9 am, however the national server for Uhaul was down and it took the share 24/7 app forever to upload my information to obtain the location of truck info and key code for access box. I had an event and timing was everything and once logged into the system it timed out my reservation and I had to reserve the van at 11 am and await for approval online. I should be compensated to this inconvenience.
I took exception to u-hauls attempt to use the deceptive form of advertising to lure in customers into the store by advertising free First month storage with a truck rental (bait). However, the product is not available for various reasons, such as the company only having a limited quantity of product available for sale which was quickly sold out (switch). The manager hesitantly gave me the offer but I’m concerned about other customers who aren’t familiar with law like me.
Have better employees, train employees more properly and have them inform vital information to customers when renting a uhaul truck. There is no reason why I couldn’t be informed about an after hours fee and how to properly avoid the fee in person especially since I was rented the truck for 6 hours, when they knew the store would be closed when my time was up. It would’ve been great to know by a uhaul employee that I would have more steps to complete when I was only told to return the van and place the keys in the lockbox. Only ask for vital information to be told to future customers
I was so disappointed , 7am in the morning, to be greeted by this young man who I was told was the gm, he had very foul breath, I dont see how you dont know, you have offencive breath, if you know you going to have to be engage with the public, thats part of your personal grooming it should be taken care of before you even leave the house, then I was disappointed when I came up there only to be told that we didnt have enough gas in the truck, it was a good thing that I had a picture of the dashboard gas gauge, after the county clerk sent the man out to check the truck he came back in and showed her that we had more then enough gas. I just pray that I dont have to use this U-Haul service again.
I got a truck from uhaul this location, and it rain I didnt know it was going to rain. Thinking all my things of value are okay because it was in the truck, I was sadly wrong. The truck was not safe! It had water damage and the staff didnt tell me but it was listed on the report that the truck was not safe on a raining day. When I moved my things after rain stopped all my kids mattress was soaking wet! And my keyboard a Yamaha keyboard. Talk to manager she said she would fix it because I did have insurance on the truck. She lied. Never heard from her, and now I go in to ask her she is never there so they say. Thanks for nothing be careful who u rent from even with insurance on the vehicle. I had to buy air mattresses for my children and they refund me nothing and dont return my calls now!
I went over the mileage and was charged for additional mileage which is completly understandable so when a representative called me and told ne I had a balance I had no problem with paying the additional fee quoted on the phone. When I arrived the next day I was giving a substainaly different amount as a balance. I I was rold that I didnt refill the vehicle which I did. I was charged $30 for a1/4 tank of gas that they claim wasnt filled. What wasnt understandable was the fact that i left the gas tank exactly where I received it. I will never use this company again.

2022-05-04Lovejoy was extremely professional and courteous she explained how the rental experience works and was very detailed I love her personality.. she even let me exchange trucks after it was time for her to get off. that is what I call customer service.. Brian was awesome also very nice and didnt complain about staying after along with his coworker. Brian was attentive and also assisted in switching my truck out to my personal need! Those guys are great!! needless to say I will be referring my friends and family to this location?!

2022-01-26I was charged twice for my order. The second time I was charged 6 months afterward for no apparent reason (over $500). Luckily I noticed the payment and contacted U-Haul chat assistance and they were able to refund the money. I was told in the chat I would be contacted by upper management the following day to discuss, but this never happened.I followed up several times on my own. When I finally managed to contact someone who gave me an answer, they said they unable to explain why issue occurred and failed to offer me any form of compensation for my time/risk associated with me potentially paying the $500 charge on my account.

2022-07-21The after hour return: My return time was scheduled for 6:00 pm on Sunday, the location closed at 5:30 pm so I had to used the after hour return. I was unable to sign into the online return website, It kept stating unable to find my order with the confirmation number or by my name. Monday morning I called U-Haul and explained the problem I had with their online after hours return and that I left the U-haul truck at the location. The employee stated he will make notation on my order and advise them of the issue I had with the after hour return. I was still charged a $20.00 fee due to the fact that it wasnt returned by the after hour instruction and a employee had to do it.

2022-06-21Went there to get a propane bottle filled at 6:00 PM and was told they stopped filling them for the day. Really? They are open until 10. Id Suggest calling ahead to see if they are interested in accommodating you or not

2022-06-20Renting this Uhaul was an absolute nightmare. From scheduling to pick up, I always got completely different answers. The employees at the store kept insisting that they dont have a truck, but scheduling kept insisting that they did. I kept having to go back and forth. At one point, an employee at the location said that we can try getting a truck from a different location in town. We called the location and couldnt get an answer. I called scheduling back and they sent me back to the same location that kept saying they had no trucks for us. We left and came back three times before finally getting a truck. Mind you, I made this reservation two days prior to pick up. We were scheduled to pick up at noon and got our truck around 4-5 PM. The scheduler and the employee told two different stories; the scheduler told us that the employees on site misplaced the keys, and the employee was telling us that a truck was being sent from another location. So someone was lying to cover their own behind. We ordered a dolly and were charged for a dolly, but we didnt receive one. Thankfully the manager at the drop off location didnt charge us for not having it. There was no gas in the tank, we had to stop and get gas when we were already hours behind moving out of state. This whole experience has been awful and I would highly recommend renting a truck elsewhere.

2022-07-12My reservation was at 11am however I arrived around 1125 am and was told by the young female at the desk my reservation had been canceled and all the pickup trucks had been reserved. I inquired on a 15 truck also none of those were available only the bigger more expensive trucks. I asked her about availability for the next day for pickup trucks; was told theyre available and she took it upon herself to make me a reservation that I didnt ask her to do. As a result I received a text to check in for the reservation which prompted me to try for another reservation for the same day and truck while I was still on the premises. It worked! I got a reservation number went back in told the young girl and her response was I dont see how because theyre not available. I had to call customer service because Uhaul guaranteed reservation or get $50 so I was leaving with one or the other. Customer service tried calling the store but the young female worker disappeared. Finally a different worker arrived for her shift confirmed my reservation with customer service and I got the pickup truck. I dont know if the young girl was lazy and didnt want to work but in any event her behavior was nonchalant, rude, deceptive and ignorant. She made Uhaul look bad and may need training or a new job!

2021-05-26Had an issue with the trailer not being installed right causing damage to our vehicle, the manager refunded my rental cost and I am working with uhauls insurance company Repwest, we will see how it works out.

2022-06-16This was completely unacceptable, the day I was supposed to move my truck and car hauler were not there after I reserved it a month in advance.The very small amount of compensation I received doesnt even come close to the gas and the wasted time and the money that I spent at U-Haul.I would never use this company again.

2021-10-16My experience at Uhaul on Telegraph and 8 Mile in Detroit was what customer service should be like! I was greeted by Luv.Joy as soon as I walked in and within a minute I was asked how can she help me today? All my questions were answered with full details, I signed and was out of there in 10 minutes! Job well done!
