They placed a hold on my account that pulled money so I could not use it. I functioned everyday after my reservation with the idea that that money was already gone. Almost a week later I get a different charge that send my account to -$60!! A week! For a charge! Now I get to go without groceries. So thank you very little Uhaul.
Extra charges on the final reciept and no one answers calls. I tried to call during normal business hours and was on hold (during my move) for 20 minutes. No one answered and the online chat is impossible to use. I was charged an after hours fee on top of the extra day charge. Disappointing experience after using this store for multiple rentals and I will not be returning.
This is really very worst place to rent U-HAUL and totally disappointment with the guy who spoke with me today. when i was asking questions about payment what they charge , the guy disconnected my phone right way. Its really made me not to recommend or not go to rent this place. Thiss how they treat their customer. for the gas, they gave half tank , but they asked me to put 3/4 - I did not understand how fair its to me. I give rating 0.5 /10.
I reserved a one way truck move and in the middle of my drive I find out the windshield wiper is broken. Do they not check to make sure the vehicles are safe and legal to drive before renting them out to people? Considering I paid over $1000 for this move you would have thought theyd at least make sure my vehicle is safe before driving. Buyer beware before renting a truck from U-haul. If you rent better invest in roadside assistance they dont maintain the trucks.
Tre Raymond the so-called owner of this place is a rude owner he denied service to me just because I asked him wasnt he supposed to tell us that were not supposed to use a prepaid card at U-Haul.?He is not a good asset for the better of the business for this company I would not recommend being serviced by him. And for him to be the owner he should be more professional about himself everybody else was cool
I tried to get a tow hitch installed on my vehicle at this U-Haul location. Here was my unfortunate experience:When I showed up on the scheduled install date, the U-Haul rep said that they had no record of my tow hitch install. When I showed her my email confirmation, she suddenly remembered and said that she tried to call me earlier. She said that the part had not come in yet and she had no clue when it would.I then called the U-Haul corporate customer service phone number, and they said they could not tell me when the tow hitch would come in.I followed up with both U-Haul corporate and U-Haul Ypsilanti multiple times over the next few weeks, and neither of them could offer me any help. U-Haul Ypsilanti repeatedly said they would call me back later with information. U-Haul corporate kept directing me back to U-Haul Ypsilanti.Somehow U-Haul was not able to meet my already low expectations.
The assistant manager was so helpful and kind. But that guy mark was cursing up a storm and belittling the assistant manager. I don’t know why someone would be able to get away with something like that. There was a kid inside the building and his mom seemed so distressed when she heard him talking. Would’ve given her 5 stars if mark didn’t ruin the it.
Despite my disabled mother calling THREE TIMES the day before to set up a reservation that I could use to help her move from an hour away, they refused to follow the notes on the reservation or work with me at all. They changed their mind and said they needed my mother to be there in person with her card to proceed even though the note on the reservation already had the information and they told us in advance that theyd just need to call my mom and confirm. Mark, the employee I dealt with was incompetent, stubborn, and rude all around. Every time he refused to follow the plan he just stared blankly and repeatedly said nope until I had to walk away and talk to customer service instead. During our initial conversation he even explicitly told me not to donate to the Uhaul environmental charity that popped up on the screen because we already have too many trees. Who thinks like that?A Uhaul Customer service agent tried calling the store several times to talk sense into the guy behind the counter but he REFUSED TO PICK UP THE PHONE despite there being no other customers in the store and two other employees doing all the other work. The store manager number also went unanswered after both myself and the Uhaul customer service agent tried there too.In the end I spent 50 minutes in a dark and cold parking lot until the customer service agent on the phone with me apologized profusely and said hed run out of options because the people at this location were being so uncooperative. An official investigation was created by the Uhaul customer service agent because, in his own words, this whole situation is absolutely unacceptable.
Awful customer service, moved our pickup location, didnt have our truck, waited an hour just for our rental.We called uhaul three weeks ago to reserve a 26 truck with a pickup in Belleville, MI, right down the road from us. We were to get the truck at noon, we had a couple people meeting us to help load it, but they only had a few hours, and then we would unload it ourselves that night. Two days before the move uhaul changes our pick up. Now we have to go to Ypsilanti, a 20 minute drive out of our way. Get there to pick it up and have to wait in line, only to be told they didnt have our 26 truck! It would be another 45 minutes Uhaul told us... By now the clock is clicking away, we consulted with others and decide maybe we could try a smaller truck? Go back inside and then have to wait in line AGAIN! And wait, and wait, and wait... Only to eventually be pushed aside and told that there is nothing else and we have to wait for the 26. We are still waiting an hour and a half later... Needless to say I encourage everyone to look for alternatives when it comes time to move.
Tried to get a hitch installed at another location for over a month with zero success. This place had the hitch I needed and Chester went above and beyond on the install for me! I drove an hour from Ohio and he helped me out on his day off. Thank you SO much for everything. Great service and awesome staff!! Highly recommend this place.
They say you cant rent a truck for 19.00 but then charge you a 20$ cleaning fee. They dont honor their word and engage in unsavory practice. I returned my truck at the 7 pm time and they said I returned it after closing......not true, they close at 7 sorry you have to stay and do your job untill the time you close. DO NOT GO HERE
So I had reserved a truck online, at a separate location, a chat rep named Jordan declined my reservations and wouldnt let me rent. It was 630 most places were closed, but they were open! And obviously I went in upset and just angry! But when I went in Amanda and Faith took care of me! They made sure that I got the original truck size I rented and for the time I needed! She worked with me and took AMAZING care of me. This place is out of the way for me, but I dont even care anymore. This is the ONLY location Ill rent from in the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area. So Bravo to Amanda and her team! Shes running a great store! This is the ONLY place ill reccomend for friends and family. Thanks again Amanda!!!!!
Called the day before to rent a truck given that we needed to move some stuff at the worst time possible. They quoted us at about $50 with supplies.We showed up the next day and#1 No one was wearing masks or practicing any sort of proper business etiquette given the pandemic. The inside is tiny and multiple people came inside at once.#2 Everything ended up costing double and the quote was completely incorrect. They put on extra charges we were never made aware of and the base cost was more than quoted.#3 The truck came dirty and slightly damaged. We have had experience with UHaul before so I ALWAYS recommend taking pictures before with a time stamp, no matter the facility.
Do not rent from this location:1) Family of employees just smoke and talk outside while a number of customers are waiting.2) They did not check our trailer lights to see if they were working after we just paid and spent three hours getting the lights fixed at this location. We were nearly rear-ended because we had no breaklights. Turns out the woman didnt even plug in the cords to the right thing.This is against company policy and a huge liability.3) Cannot get them on the phone (over 1.5 hour wait) probably because of issue 1.4) Their trailer lights hookup ended up blowing a fuse in my car which cause a number of computer issues in my vehicle. We had to use hand signal for a 14 hour car ride.DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE!
Amanda is amazing! I had a situation happen and she sent out another customer to come and help me because no one else was available. She called me to keep me updated and after talking about the solution to my problem we talked like friends , not just as a customer. Although,I hope the upcoming month will be my last time needing a truck or storage ,I am a customer for LIFE. She went above and beyond and you know moving and storage can be a very , very stressful time in our lives on top of whats going on. I can say that she took most the stress away. If youre considering renting a truck or storage go to Uhual on Washtenaw and ask for Amanda. She will take care of you.Thank you so much for everything youve done.Sincerely K
Not the cleanest place inside the store or outside on the property. Also I counted 7 flashing lights next to security cameras. You can see the wires for the cameras on the wall and can trace them to where they all meet. They make sure you know about those cameras. I was surprised not to find the employees behind bullet proof glass.The red head girl was nice and offered to help bring the things I bought out to my car.
I went in to reserve a truck and trailer on a tuesday. I asked the lady at the counter to make a reservation for to that Friday. When I went in on Friday to pick up the truck and trailer, the reservation had never been made. Instead of reserving the vehicle I needed, she gave me an estimate. I have experienced this level of incompetence before, and I tend not to frequent those establishment.I would advise anyone to use another uhaul location.
Ive never had a problem with this location until this past visits. U-Haul on Washtenaw in Ypsilanti has the most unprofessional staff. Not only did they not receive my reservation but the lady at the front desk proceeds to tell me “well we don’t have anything available”. She has me get out of line and call 1800uhaul for all availability. I call and was informed they have some available at the location I was just told they didn’t 😑. I get back in line (at least 5 people) and she has a different lady ring me up (I’m assuming she thought I wasn’t going to say something, if I was with a different cashier). I pay for my uhaul and address the fact that I was told they had nothing when they do. The lady assisting me makes a face and says well the 1800uhaul isn’t always accurate, they don’t always know what’s going on.. 😡😩 now I’m irritated because why did you even have me get out of line and call them if they aren’t accurate. Long story short I got my uhaul.. i go to my uhaul and they have a different t truck listed on my contract and the miles/gas do not match. Go back in the store for another 15-20 min convo. Finally get things together and leave. I come back to return it and the same lady said I owed $40 and that only $7 went thru. I pull my bank account statement up and show her I was charged $40 already and the remaining 7.55 is what I would be paying. The lady went back and forth idk how many times and FINALLY the shorter younger girl (who was very helpful), came to fix/adjust everything. Needless to say, I wont be using this location anymore..
Staff very unprofessional (eating a sandwich and chewing with mouth open while assisting customers, swearing, eye rolling, general incompetence with the computer system or any sense of customer service) and forgot accessories ordered with the truck so we had to make a return trip. The truck itself was clean and well-functioning, but heres the rub: a 15-foot truck doesnt really have 15 feet of space. It has 12.5 feet. I had to make two trips, and the mileage fees doubled the cost of renting the truck. I strongly recommend NOT renting from Uhaul and definitely avoid this location.
Ive been to this UHaul twice and I have never experienced any trouble finding a cargo van for my moving. The staff are friendly, efficient and very responsible. The manager even helped us to hold the cargo van for 2 hours while we are late. The UHaul web system is bad, you have to actually call this folks to book a truck but except for that this place is just really good.
Logan helped us today. We came in to return boxes we hadnt needed for our move, which we had been told we could do earlier in the week, by the GM Brandon Laroque, who sold us the boxes. When we were sold the boxes, we were not told we needed to keep the receipt to get our money back (which you would think they would tell you if it is company policy). So when we went to return them, we were refused.The customer service was lacking, employees were rude and didnt offer to look through transaction histories until we pushed, the employee who helped us very obviously did not want to be there and maintained a bored, unfriendly demeanor throughout the interaction.I have used this store for every move Ive had to make over the last several years and never had this poor of customer service. I will not shop here again and no not recommend to anyone else.
I GOT BEDBUGS!!! Never in my life have I had bed bugs, 2 days after moving into a house that I know for a fact didnt have any my mattress is now COVERED in them. Ontop of that I got screwed out of an extra $100 because even though I requested a one way they were out of them. If you can go somewhere else you definitely should!!!
I worked with Mandie Mcculley on Saturday, and she was absolutely phenomenal! Despite having a rental for a 15ft truck, the corporate team kept leaving me voicemails saying no such truck was available and switched my reservation to a 26ft truck. Once arriving to the Ypsi location, (which was extremely busy and low on trucks) Mandie took the time to listen to my hesitation and frustration toward being switched to a 26ft truck. She then went out of her way to show me various cargo vans that were in stock. As that cargo van was too small, Mandie then took the time to go through the reservations and play a game of tetris to get me into a smaller truck. I cannot thank Mandie enough for helping make my move as smooth as possible and ensuring I felt comfortable driving the Uhaul.
Ive rented tons of trucks at this fine establishment over the last 10 years and Ive never had any problems when Im behind the wheel of one of their trucks... any problem with the ladies, that is.I might as well be driving a chick magnet like one of those snazzy smart cars, for all the head turning and cat calling I get driving a U Haul truck. The windshield wipers stay on high to keep all the women literally throwing themselves at me from clinging onto the windshield when Im trying to drive.
I had a great experience at this location. There were no lines, so I wasnt waiting forever, I got my truck early, and the return was SO easy. Because my email address is registered with Uhaul, all I had to do was drop the truck off, and my receipt and any credits were automatically sent to me. Best Uhaul experience Ive had, and Ill gladly use this location again!
Really frustrated with this location several months in hind site. I had a hitch installed at a Uhaul in Ypsilanti, Michigan in August 2014, and by the time I went to hook up a trailer again in December 2014 in PA, the wiring was rusted & burned out. As a result, the wiring was defective - Uhaul employee initially could not connect the wiring & tried to create a new connection (and the wiring sparked/caught on fire). The two guys working worked with me for 2 hours to get a new wiring system installed, and did not charge me for labor or parts (especially grateful because of the disappointing work of the Uhaul in Michigan). No one told me in MI that I should lubricate & protect the wiring to keep it from rusting (which I did not know as a first time hitch user), and also I heard frustration from the Uhaul employees in Hazleton, PA who said it was installed poorly. Really disappointed - this mistake could have seriously affected my travels, and had it not been for the amazing guys in Hazleton, PA, I would not have made it to my home NH on schedule.
I had a good experience with uhaul (mostly) so I moved into my new apartment and Im on the bottom level we just got stuff from my storage unit to bring in. Since Im not a great engineer fitting a huge couch through a small door was exhausting, so we took the easy route, we rode to the back to the big open sliding door. I was almost to my door and the unexpected happened. Yes we got stuck in mud, 6 inches deep literally! I called roadside assistance/got on the website slow responding (but less than a hour) anyways they said getting me out of the mud wasnt covered under my safemove insurance (the extra $14 I paid incase anything happened) sooo he called someone (the guy from uhaul) quoted me between $200-300 yikes! I live in a studio apartment, obviously I dont have that much money. So I called AAA luckily I was saved only paying a additional $50 on top of my roadside assistance. So 14 minutes before they close we roll up there and it was dirty and I brought stuff to clean it and Ryan was absolutely awesome he said he would take care of it & not charge me extra he was really a great guy! You will hear SORRY more than anything else! For the 3rd time, I do a reservation and they cant guarantee a truck for me. But today was a different level of SORRY, the Manager Amanda Mcculley literally lied to me saying that she did a reservation for me and after I dropped off the truck, no reservation was actually made. It was her lie to make sure I return the truck. Everytime I go pick up a truck, I expect to hear a SORRYY!
My boyfriend set up an appointment to get a hitch installed for 9:30 a.m. And that it would take 30 mins. We arrived at 9:30 and was told that they could not install it until 11:30.Once we returned they told us it would be an hour. Why have appointments if they dont matter. A whole Saturday spent at uhaul. What a waste. Horrible customer service.
While at this location, I had 3 employees look inside my car while I was there and laugh- not sure what part of the service warranted that but definitely will not be returning there after that....Never used UHAUL before and honestly made my anxiety about moving 10 times worse when the moving company employees are mocking me
Im sure there are plenty of positive experiences at this location, but I just cant recommend it based on my recent experience. We had planned to move this weekend. made reservation for a 17 truck. showed up to pick up the truck and they didnt have the truck or any other truck for that matter. Said they couldnt help me and the reservation guarantee doesnt apply to their location. I called customer service with the same results.

Received a phone call from T to confirm are you haul and make sure we had everything. Check out is easy and simple. Will definitely use this location when moving .

2022-04-30WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. HIGHLY DISCOURAGE. First, make sure to look at the receipt or get a printed copy of the receipt. I was told to come back at 3/16 of a tank, the sheet said 1/4 when I looked. I came back with 3/16 but they recorded it as 1/16 and charged me for the gas. I requested the 14 dollar insurance, but they later charged me for the 30 dollar insurance. Additionally, they charged everyone with a service fee who dropped off overnight even though the online system had crashed and customer service has long wait times to talk to anyone even up until today. Terrible in store and corporate experience overall. Find a different company to work with or receive help from a friend with a truck for any moving purposes.Edit: corporate customer service has your back if anything goes wrong. They finally offered a callback number and I was able to settle it. I cannot stress enough to not go to this store

2022-05-12I made an online appointment to have a hitch installed on my vehicle. U-Haul confirmed the date and time and took my payment in full. But when I showed up for the appointment, I was informed that the hitch was not in stock and that my appointment had been rescheduled. No call, no email, no apology. But they did refund my money, which I used to have a hitch installed at InstaHitch.

2022-08-03Awful experience, truck was not maintained. Low tire pressure was on the entire time and when I tried to get ahold of somebody to tell them I was ignored and put on hold for an hour and when I finally reached somebody days later they told me they couldn’t help me and hung up. I’ve tried emailing, calling and using the online chat bot and was ignored each time. DO NOT USE THIS LOCATION!!!

2021-08-08I had a hitch installed back in May, and everything went smoothly. Drop off was no problem; their Hitch Pro, Chester, called me during the day when he ran into an issue, explained to me what was going on and what he proposed to do and why, got my ok, and still got it done on time; pick up also no issue. I didnt wait for the drop off time, just dropped it off in the morning, and would definitely recommend that, because it allows them to work your car in when they have time.I see some of the other comments mention the front desk service - for sure theres a bit of an attitude there, but it wasnt unfriendly, and I had no issues with it. Just not the usual smile and have a nice day that could probably get them more business in the long run.

2022-08-13Impossible to get a hold of, even scheduled a call back and they never did. I was on hold for 20 minutes as well. No truck availability in any size during the entire week we need to move.

2021-10-25Weve rented 3 times from here. First 2 were straightforward intown rentals, no issues. 3rd time was a big one-way truck rental. The team here is no-nonsense but they know what they are doing, and will make sure you have what you need. They answered all our questions multiple times ahead of the one-way rental. Day of we were undecided about UHauls extra insurance charges. they went out of their way to redo our dispatch step to give us more time to decide. Also, we did find an issue with our originally assigned equipment and they immediately assigned us another truck. The next day when we came back for help hitching our car, they were ready right on time and worked with us to get hitched up. Right at the end there was an electrical issue with the equipment. I was worried theyd give up on us since sometimes at other locations theyll be like ooops nothing we can do, guess you just have to deal with it. here about 4 ppl all got involved and they got the electrical issue fixed. They also got us set up with a great mom-and-pop uhaul location to drop off at the end of our trip. Dont be put off by the teams down-to-business demeanor - they will make sure you have what your really need.

2021-04-24I placed an order for a hitch installation approximately three weeks ago. The day of the installation I stopped into the U-Haul in Ypsilanti and a line of 25 people with one cashier working. Although it was an inconvenience, I understand that it can be extremely busy on the weekends.After waiting in line for about a hour. I make my way to the front of the line. The employee explains that they have all of the parts except for the hitch. He further explains that its at another location and will be having it expressed shipped here.My frustrations and the one star rating stems from the communication from U-Haul. A call explaining would have saved myself so much time. Instead I wasted a hour and now need to move my work schedule around to accommodate a work order that was put in 3 weeks ago.If youre thinking about getting a hitch install. I would highly recommend other locations that has more open and better communication.

2020-12-08BUYER BEWARE!!! The management and customer service at this place is unreal. There are plenty of other locations that I have used since to pick from near by that I would go to before going here. This manager has an ego issue and feels like his business is being run perfectly but is in ruins. Another customer was right besides me complaining about being overcharged as well as another customer on a different day I stopped in to return a dolly. If he thinks he can run a business on fees he should change to a different industry. If you want to get ahold of anybody at this place, forget it. You will be on hold for at least a half and hour if someone picks up and there were days I’ve left messages with no return phone call. Also, I returned a dolly but they were going to still charge me for it. I finally was able to get ahold of someone to help fix the billing issue. I also stopped in to fix the other fees they were trying to charge and the guy next to me was being charged an extra day for being 20 minutes late and I was charged for a dolly (80), 20 dollars for after hours return and a bunch of late fees (30). The guy next to me had his extra day fee reversed and I returned my truck within 12 hours, not 24 and I’m charged for a overnight return with late charges. The manager is refusing to reverse my charges when I was not charged this overnight return fee elsewhere. What a nightmare!! Stay away from this guy and his business.
