I had reserved a 15 ft truck for my move approximately 10 days in advance, only to be informed the day before my move that there was no 15 ft truck available. Instead, I was offered a 10 ft truck as the only available option.This sudden change in availability caused significant stress and inconvenience for me as a customer. Moving is already a challenging task, and having a reservation unexpectedly altered at the last minute only added to the difficulties. As someone who relies on making plans in advance, I was counting on U-Haul to fulfill their end of the reservation agreement.The fact that I received this notification so close to my moving date left me with limited options and forced me to adapt my plans under pressure. This situation reflects poorly on U-Hauls reservation system and their ability to fulfill customer expectations.I understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, but I believe that U-Haul should have better procedures in place to handle situations like this and ensure that customers are not left in the lurch. Comment: Moving college students in and out of apartments every year for summer months is a necessary evil and a tedious and exhausting exercise in patience and pockets. Last year we opted to rent a storage unit which was conveniently located right next to Uhaul’s rental location where we were able to pick up and drop off the truck within walking distance of one another.We ran into a few technical issues related to security access points but Their employee Anona was very quick to walk immediately over to assist us.Checking in and out and monthly payments made every part of the process very seamless and convenient and when we finally moved out last week, Anona once again Was incredibly helpful.We moved out on the day of our monthly billing cycle which she was all too happy to speak with her manager about to ensure timely reimbursement.Our storage unit was clean, and my only complaint is the inconvenience of lugging to a second floor location. However, they have lift elevators and provide plenty of assorted dollies for their clients on site in a rattly accessible and locked closet. Felt like our belongings were safely secured with four layers of protection From entry into the site to access to the second floor, and elevators and including of course, security cameras.I highly recommend not only the company, but this particular location in particular.I also recommend downloading the app for added ease where most questions and all reservations an account access can be made.Shannon Karian

Comment: U-Haul has let us down for the last time. We are moving from Costa Mesa to Ojai and booked our 26ft truck a week ago to pick up from this location tomorrow. They called us today to let us know that our truck would need to be picked up in Lake Elsinore. When we explained how far away it was, the cs person said “you’re already driving 2 hours anyway” which is completely illogical, since Lake Elsinore is in the opposite direction of Ojai. We will not use UHaul again, as this is our second move in a row where they did not deliver on their promise.

Comment: U-Haul employees called my phone multiple times at 6:30am trying to locate a key to a truck I returned the night before to their actual employees. Then then begin to blame me for not putting the key in the lock box when I followed the agents instructions when I dropped it off. Now they are trying to charge me for a key that was stolen by homeless people after hours cause their employee didn’t properly check in the vehicle I dropped off. The overall tone and attitude towards me was disrespectful and I will never rent from this location again.

Comment: Excellent service and customer support at this location.Had drop off at a different location for my Uhaul truck (Rent One at 125 Commercial Way - AVOID AT ALL COSTS).That location LIED TO MY FACE and refused to accept the assigned drop off, saying they didnt have space and that the contract allowed me to take it to the 2680 Newport Blvd location instead.Upon arriving the owner and team informed me that Id been lied to, helped me get a copy of the contract showing that Rent One MUST accept the truck, and helped me get the truck out of the lot safely. This team is competent and friendly, and if I ever rent a Uhaul again in the future I will ABSOLUTELY 100% be sure to get it here.

Comment: Unfortunately, I had my tow hitch installed at this location. Check out the shoddy work on my land rover these guys did in the attached pictures! This is a very expensive vehicle, but even if it wasnt, work (Or should I say damage) like this is substandard. Very unprofessional and uneven cut into the removable silver panel. Scratched the panel during installation as well. You get what you pay for. Land Rover wanted $1800, but I guarantee you it wouldnt look like this. Ill probably have to buy a new panel from Land Rover now and have a professional cut it with something other than a jigsaw or grinder like these guys did. Beware folks if you have a specialty situation hitch installation on your vehicle. Once they do it, there is no going back. Also, they put my electrical for a trailer in the rear wheel well inside the car. Ive never seen this done before. Normally they put it on a bracket on the outside. I think it just comes down to laziness. I wouldnt go back again because now it will cost me a few hundred for the new panel, then a few hundred to have it done right. It will end up costing the same as Land Rover. Lesson learned.

Andy I think was his name. Anything the angry client barked at him was handled in the most professional manner ever! Far more courteous than I would have been. These guys deserve raises!! Comment: I came 15 minutes before store opening to return my 15 truck. There was already a line to return trucks, and so I was content to wait. A worker rudely told me to do the EZ return form online because they cant touch my rental until I do the self-serve truck return thing online. I tried to do it by going to uhaul dot com slash share. It told me to park the truck, but there werent any spots available. I was hanging over the back yellow line by a foot. Then it asks me to take pictures of the truck, which, since I parked it, means I cant stand back and take good pictures of the truck. It took 20 minutes to figure out the whole EZ return thing. The last step after I clicked submit was to place the keys in the key return drop box. There was no drop box. Or maybe they brought it when they opened. Either way, the whole return experience was horrible, and if I could do it again, I would just wait for the staff to check me in themselves.

Comment: Propane refills are priced competitively based on need, not as a flat fee like some other rip-off joints. There may be a 15 minute wait if the shop is really busy, but I was done in less than 10 minutes. Credit cards can be charged by staff’s mobile device and email receipts are an option; so, you don’t have to go in to the cashier. 👍

Comment: If I could make this a zero I would. We were accidently charged $650 for a cleaning charge that should have been $65. I spent three weeks and no less than 50 hours trying to make contact with Jonathon Sosa, the store manager, about this. He wouldnt return calls, texts or emails. My son even went to the location and left a message with Bryan and Mack for Jonathon Sosa to contact us; still nothing. The assistant manager Mack, was super nice and tried to help but ultimately couldnt change the error in the system. I was forced to escalate the issue to Uhaul E-Alert department, where after 50 plus hours of time and the threat of collections, Phillip was able to help reverse the charges and clear whole thing up in less than an hour. RRRRRRRRRRRRun, dont walk away from the Costa Mesa store. Dont give them your business.

Comment: I am very upset. When I returned my rental the next day way before it was due back. I was told when I returned it I didnt need to do anything. They would email me a receipt. I thought that was strange considering usually I would need to confirm no damage was done and that I infact did return it with the same amount of fuel  as when I picked it up. I just got my receipt email and was very upset to find out i was over charged by $30.29. They had charged me for a extra day and 2 gallons of fuel which i had put more then enough gas at a gas station across the street from the uhaul right before i had returned it.I am on a long wait on the phone right now trying to talk to someone to correct this overcharge.I think they way you now run things is a very bad way because the customer has already returned the rental and can not dispute alligations which your emplyees are overcharging for. I will never ever rent from uhaul or recommend uhaul to anyone i know.

Comment: (Rating for company in general, not this specific location.)Unprofessional and horrible customer service. When you reserve a truck/trailer, they dont actually schedule it until the day before your pick-up. So basically, no matter how early in advance you reserve it, you dont know if youll actually get it until the day before. Hopefully they can reschedule you or find you something in the county in a couple days, but they dont tell you this process when you sign-up.This also seems to be normal practice because the customer service rep wasnt even phased by it (at the local or cooperate office) and showed little to no concern. I asked if the person who had it before me got a flat or if they were ok (thinking this was an anomaly and out of their control). But no they said we just dont schedule them till the day before. We can try to reschedule you for next week though, or you can wait and see if something opens up...maybe give you a $50 discount?Luckily I was able to use Upack and they shipped everything for me with only one days notice. And it was the same price I was quoted a month before with no rush/expediting fees. They were super helpful, and professional. Everything was extremely clear and theyre a great company to work with. There are enough things to worry about during a move but Upack took a lot of that stress away. Cant recommend them enough.

Comment: Went to pick up a motorcycle trailer. There was no parking. People coming in, not knowing where to park, parked anywhere they could find, creating a crowded, chaotic lot. I was unable to pull the trailer out once it was hooked up. One guy telling me to go out the left enterance, when the incoming vehicles cleared. Another telling me to go out the right exit when the delivery truck blocking it cleared. The employees were shaking their heads in judgement at those who came in looking for a place to park, instead of getting out of their chairs and doing some traffic control. Dangerous, and chaotic there. I will only go back to return the trailer, and never visit this location again. It was around noon, on a Wednesday. I cant even imagine it on a weekend.

Comment: Where do I start, it was a series of misinformation, being told they dont grant extended hours when initially moving in. A series of events, finding my stuff by and in the dumpster and in another unlocked unit. And finding my stuff, not once, but twice in the dumpster, not having access to the elevator in the morning on the 2nd day. Being told by management and staff conflicting information, then being told the opposite on the 3rd day by the manager. Ended up not only calling the customer care number and not getting good service, finally ended up filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau finally getting some satisfaction. But it took calling/sending email to uhauls customer service dept. numerous times with no satisfaction in site. The BBB finally got thru to them. And Uhaul came to their senses finally giving me an equitable deal.

Comment: I came in today with a reservation for a trailer. Paid in full, bought a tow ball and mount. After the trailer was hooked up the lights werent working so I was sent over to the service tech. The tech was incredibly nice and immediately started to diagnose the wiring issue.The tech got a call from the manager and I could hear their conversation. The manager told him to stop working on my car and focus on higher paying customers.... The tech apologized and told me to go somewhere else. I left the trailer there. I will never be back.

Lady at the counter was not nice and she wasnt mean either... she just gave off a odd feeling like she just didnt want to be there. The guy in the back had a real punk attitude. I called several times before I came yet still needed to wait over 10 minutes for a truck to move so they could bring the trailer out.. would have been a much longer of a wait but I took the initiative and walked around the back and politely asked the driver to move for a moment so we would hand cart the trailer out. Thats when the punk attitude guy got all upset.

Comment: Gave us a broken truck that went from third to fourth gear whenever we tried to brake. Extremely dangerous.Gave us a truck with 3/8 of a tank. We used a little over 1/8 and they charged us an extra $30 for going over the 1/4 tank mark. Predatory business practices.Would not recommend to anyone.

Comment: In and out in 5 minutes. The place seemed to run like clockwork. From the front desk to the garage and on the road before I knew it. Ive moved cross county before and some uhaul locations could learn from the example here. Friendly too!

Comment: Manager is very rude. He is not the owner but acts as if he was. Never would recommend people to rent at this facility . Never have I met a manager or owner with this 2 face attitude. First he acts nice and then he acts like a complete dick . He should get fire not very professional

Between a broken elevator the day after I decided to rent with them, to the broken promise of your first month is free, to their crappy customer service this place is a damn joke. Tim the manager was rude from the beginning and I just spoke with Laura in finance who put me on hold in the middle of while I was talking to her and never came back. DONT RENT HERE!!!!!!!! Im a pretty easy going person but this is just ridiculous.

Comment: Just rented a trailer for the day, and returned it 15 minutes before closing. The entire staff was pretty friendly, but one enployee stood out and shined!!! Jesse was the employee who checked in my trailer, and did an amazing job of making me, not just feel like a valued customer, but almost like a friend. I am in the customer service industry, and to see another individual, at the end of what im sure is a stressful workday, treat me with kindness and make me feel like I wasnt just another face in the crowd is amazing! His customer service was ABOVE AND BEYOND naything I would ever expect from a rental place. Thank you for the awesome service!!!!

Comment: This company does business for U-Haul near Newport Beach, CA.On November 2nd I went to the above mentioned company with my husband to get a U-haul truck that I had reserved 4 days prior in my name to move my mother. We arrived, there was a big line, we waited our turn (even though I had an appointment made online) then a man named TIM FOUSE CLARK called us. He asked me my drivers license and credit card (platinum American Express) which I provided. He continued putting/checking my information on his computer, and asked me a contact phone number which I provided.He then said I am calling you now. I said “well that is my home phone number, so I will not be there”. I even mentioned that the day before he had called me and spoken to me. In a bizarre behavior, he then asked us for a cell phone what we did not have with us at that moment; we were moving furniture and boxes.He continued saying loudly in front of at least 20 people that we SHOULD have one, he needed to call us. He even made fun of us in front of everyone (very humiliating experience). He said “hahaha no cell phones?”, like we were lying. He made look like that today is MANDATORY to everyone to have a cell phone ON YOU.He continued to behave erratically, agitated, screaming at us, and we were trying to be reasonable during all times. I even suggested that I could go home, so he could call me. He threw his pen over the balcony demanding a phone, I feared for my life at that moment, he was very aggressive.I then perceive that I had to give this man at any cost a phone number, so I gave my mother’s, who is a very sick old lady (79 years old), so he could call.After all this harassment I asked him for the manager and he said it was him, then I said “I want to speak to the owner then”, he said it was him. Wow!!!!This is the first time that I see someone asking for my phone and wanting to call me right and then to confirm my identity. It looked like to me that he was DISCRIMINATING US!!!!! I know that because I was waiting for my turn and I was observing his behavior, I did not see him asking nobody for a phone that he could call now and then, just us!
