Comment: I think this is the first 1-star review Ive ever written. I always like to give the benefit of the doubt but this is ridiculous.I pull up for propane about 10 minutes to opening and ring the bell (I actually forgot they open at 7, thought it was 6:30) and take out the 1 container I need filled.One the employees comes out with a terrible attitude and yells (across the parking lot mind you) Were not open yet and walked off. Granted, I was 10 minutes early but seriously, would it kill you to say it in a nicer way. This attitude by this man (short, older aged) was ridiculous. Although it was before opening, dont cop an attitude.I was a very frequent renter from this UHaul but not anymore. Ill go to Kearney mesa or use Penske instead.

Comment: NEGATIVE Stars if I could.PSA - Gilbert is R U D E AF. Marco said using the dumpster was free, Gilbert decided he needed to charge us $55, but then the receipt came and he charged us $100 ‘cleaning fee’ and stated in front of myself and another person with me, and Andrew another U-Haul worker, stated $55 before we used it, then Gilbert said he never quoted $55. He thought $100 was more fair AFTER he took a picture of me in the truck (without my permission mind you).Gilbert then chose to ‘clean’ the vehicle for 20 minutes during check out process instead of checking the mileage and gas.Then Gilbert became irate with me when I contested the $100 cleaning fee.I called the manager, who had to drive here to deal with this. At this point I’ve been here one hour and 15 minutes.The manager had to come to the shop, had a phone call with Gilbert on the way, then he came at me rude until he heard my side of the story, he then wanted to speak with his crew alone, and even asked me to leave the store so they could ‘figure it out’. This was after Gilbert started yelling me again, even when the manager was there was his manager had to tell him to stop.Long story short, the manager is refunding me $45 because evidently Andrew backed up the fact that they both told me $55 from the beginning. Which is ridiculous since I was told it was free.USE ANYWHERE ELSE - definitely not this location. Personally, I’m never using U-Haul again FOR ANYTHING.$400 to have a 10’ truck for 6 days at $20 a day plus $1.10 a mile. RIDICULOUS.Negative 5 stars.

Comment: GO TO CLAIRMONT MESA LOCATION!Reserved a truck by phone. Got there, and their system wasnt working. I sat around watching them fruitlessly try the same thing over and over. Guy asks his manager for help, who was absolutely incompetent at managing. He even got visibly hostile when I said that they are costing me money and how he is going to fix this. They never once tried to remedy my problem. The young guy did great. He called customer support and asked to speak to a manager or someone who could solve my problem more quickly. Uhaul tech support wasnt helping the young man at all. It was him that apologized as i left, not the manager. Guy needs a promotion. He did the best he could. His manager, though... wow.I ended up leaving 45 minutes later with no truck or assistance. called an Uber to the uhaul a few miles away in clairemont mesa, and they are actually competant, even apologizing to me about the other store. I lost several hundred dollars in labor and lost buissiness from the delay today, as well as the Uber.

Comment: The gas mileage was recorded incorrectly in the companies favor. I thought the truck was going to break down when I was driving it. It was extremely out of alignment and the steering wheel shook backand forth while driving. The transmission was also not working and it would get stuck while auto shifting and then hard jerk into gear. I drove 1500 miles two years ago in a truck like this one and never had any issues like this. Thank goodness I was only doing an in town move. Worst of all when I told the employee about these concerns when returning the truck he said yeah there is a documented history of these issues as this truck was in a collision. YOU KNOW ITS AN ISSUE AND STILL PUT THE TRUCK BACK ON THE ROAD!?!?

Comment: I reserved a truck for 8:30 PM, and upon arrival their apps mobile pickup failed inexplicably. After a long call with U-Haul live support, they reveal that this site simply never put my keys into the Dropbox - so my reservation was pushed to 7:00 PM the next day, with no recourse at all.

Comment: Horrible experience! Had 5:00 apt to have hitch installed and arrived at 4:50 to check in only to be told that my appointment had been changed by the “system” to 3:00. No notification from them notifying us of the change. In fact, we received an email confirmation/reminder at 3:15 on the day of the 5:00 appointment, that had supposedly been changed by the system to 3:00. The supposed “customer service” rep Angel told me that I’d have to come another day and kept insisting that my apt was at 3:00, despite showing him both the original email booking and the confirmations. At this point, I didn’t want to do business with this location so I asked to get the hitch I purchased. He then refused to help me load the heavy box/hitch into my car. Impossible for me do on my own, one of the other employees stepped in to help and told me that he was sorry for the way Angel was acting. This is, hands down, the worst customer service I have ever received from any business. Will not be doing business there ever again and advise caution to anyone booking apts.

Comment: I drive up, park in a handicap spot visibly outside the check-in counter. Pick out boxes including glass oaks and a dish pak. Both clerks did not know that those pals come with a free box. It is printed on the boxes themselves! Check with a 3rd clerk, they check me out with a wrap box and a 20 box pack. I ask one for help me with the purchase and the new guy who is heading out anyway to serve another customer wanted to but the other one said, “ no we don’t do that!”, saying there are trolleys for that (not visible). It would have taken them 30 seconds to walk outside with a package.I will never be back here especially since they don’t know what they sell and are not service trained….. sad as I have used UHAUL many times and rented many trucks from them. More trading needed

I spoke with a representative from this location on the phone, who told me that a V6 engine wouldnt provide enough towing capacity for a U-Haul trailer. This representative proceeded to cancel my order due to safety concerns. And according to this representative, a 4Runner with a V6 engine would be sufficient, but a Toyota Venza with a V6 would be unsafe for a U-Haul trailer. I was more than professional with the representative on the phone; I politely voiced my concerns, and asked to rent a truck instead. When I asked to rent a truck, the representative hung up on me. This type of behavior makes me really wonder what type of business theyre running here. At the end of the day, Im glad that I didnt end up renting from this location. In my opinion, they seem like the type of people that would try to pull a fast one on you.

Comment: Staff are completely incompetent and rude not able to care less, called the number on the site to verify that they had 24/7 access for business needing to access stuff at odd hours. After being told they checked with this facility and it offers 24/7 I signed up for a locker online, I then went to the facility and before checking out the new locker I spoke to the office staff to ensure that I would be able to access it when I needed before moving in. As soon as I go to the counter and asked that, they rolled their eyes and said yeah well, thats up to the facility managers usually, but we dont usually do that already annoyed with me for existing, I just said screw it and left. This facility is a joke and so are the staff.

Comment: Called on Friday for a hitch installation the following Wednesday. Paid an extra $100 for expedited part shipping. Found out on Tuesday that the part wasnt going to be available. The part is 2 hours away, FedEx priority shipping would easily get this here next day, and $100 should more than pay for the shipping. They dont care. This entire experience was a fail. Now I am left scrambling to get a hitch before my project on Thursday.

Comment: Booked a reservation for a medium sized storage unit for a Thursday knowing that I was going to load up the unit after office hours as I live far away and work until 6pm. Drove down an hour and contacted customer service to see how I can access the storage facility and they told me I didnt book the unit I only made a reservation which means I had to visit during store hours and speak to the manager which was not stated in any of my confirmation emails. They said the unit I reserved is not available and that I had to book the small unit online if I needed to store stuff that night (why do you guys even have a reservation option if you arent reserving it??) I order the small unit and got an access code to enter the facility and it didnt work!! The screen said welcome and that I was checked in, but the door did not unlock..Luckily someone saw that I was struggling and helped me in. Also, made this place my drop-off location for my one-way U-Haul truck and they called me the afternoon of to tell me the lot was full and that I had to go to another location..everything about this place was awful and made my move extremely stressful and inconvenient. Would not recommend.

The staff was friendly and made sure my personal vehicle was parked in the right spot for the day. Truck was clean and the drop off was smooth. It was no problem to change the credit card on file to another without incident or management approval. Looking forward to using this location if the need for a truck rental ever arises.

Comment: This place is a joke, it deserves a -5 star review!! Very unprofessional!! We made reservations last week for a vehicle hauler. We got into town sat to pick it up sun from Az to tow a vehicle back. Sat they called and said it wasnt available. Few hrs later they called back and said it would be available Sunday at 12. Well we came and they dont have it!! Not even a courtesy call to let us know. We drove to Cali for nothing. Very disappointed that we couldnt even get a call about it. They dont value there customers at all!! Believe all these bad reviews, I wish I read them before I even wasted my time driving over to Cali location. We even put a credit card on file to make sure we can get it. Keep scrolling and find another location that hopefully has the courtesy to show their customer they care🤬🤬🤬

Comment: Was told that this location was not where my truck was reserved despite requesting this location and receiving messages my truck rental was here. Corporate also told me I could get military discount for my rental, but the representative denied any discounts, even after other associates said that I will receive discounts. I had to drive South to the US Mexico border to pickup a towing trailer. I would recommend not using this truck/moving rental service.The truck came with unmarked and unrecorded damaged.

Comment: After having a nightmare of a time at another location this location saved me from never wanting to do business with Uhaul again! Andrew at the front office was very helpful and Sal (the owner) showed us everything from start to finish! The driveway was a bit hard to maneuver through with a 26 ft truck, but Andrew was kind enough to back it up to the loading dock for us. This place is well worth it! Very pleased with it thus far!

Comment: These filthy rats ripped me off, charging me for an extra day on a truck I rented from them. They have a dropbox where you are supposed to return your keys, which I used to return my key. It was during business hours but there was no one at the return area. They did not get around to retrieving the key until hours later and charged me for an additional day even though I told them over the phone earlier that I had returned the key on time.

Comment: We bought a tow hitch online and were referred to Uhaul for installation. Called for an appointment and was upfront about the fact that it was purchased online, not from them. They asked what type of hitch, I told them and they said its the exact same type that they sell, so install would be no problem. They gave me a price and set the appointment time. Showed up for the appointment and they refused to install it because its a 3rd party hitch - you didnt purchase it from us.Tried to argue that this was known by them at the time the appointment was set (a couple hrs previous) but they refused to install and completely wasted our time.

Comment: ABSOLUTELY, Poor customer service. I was really disappointed after waiting in line, getting a lecture & tongue lashing on why I didnt use the app to check in. On top of all that Ajoy the name of the girl checking me in for a uhaul truck tries to force me to use the app to check myself in after I already waited in line & told her I didnt have service in the store. Then she proceded to tell me to go outside for service &check myself in for my rental.. I told her I already waited in line, im not going outside to keep checking &moving about for cell service..Then the bigger FAT heavy lady chimed in stating they cudnt help me because I started my registration on line.. Im going back in fourth wit these fn clowns over sum damn cell service ..finally after all that, the price quoted for my rental total was not the price showing up on the signature screen & Ajoy was unable to explain the huge difference in price to hold on my credit card & instructs me to sign the electronic rental agreement with the different quoted price! Then Ajoy tells me the electronic screen sum times freezes on the previous transaction, im thinkn by this point is she serious?? I asked this chic, so u want me to sign a rental agreement for sumone elses transaction?? Ajoy tells me that its not going to charge my card, jus hold the amount..I REFUSED to sign the electronic rental agreement with the incorrect quoted price. After she saw I wasnt budging or leaving without that truck, she printed out a hard copy rental agreement with the correct quoted price..I have no idea, why this chic was trying top get me to sign the wrong quote for a hold.. & it seems they gave me the most BEATup truck on the lot.. Ajoy &the huge FAT chic had the nerve to try & intimidate me in buying the fn insurance..telling me they dont bill third parties for damages..I dont giv a rats azz!that truck had soo many dents, scratches, scuffs throughout the entire outside body of the truck..I did my walk around inspection & documented all of it!...the inside cabin was not clean, there was ketchup on the cup holders & front dash area. I brought it to Joses attention who did the inspection..all he said was u wont b charged for that..Damn RIGHT I wont! It took me over an hour to finally leave with my rental truck ..uuugghhhh..Worst experience with Uhaul!!

Comment: Although I was there much longer than expected, I have to praise the installation technicians diligence in getting my hitch and wiring installed yesterday. My 2017 Honda CR-V is a new generation of the series and was the first this shop had to install. They overcame the hurdles of the new design of the car and ultimately completed the job successfully. Thanks to the installation technician and I hope you enjoy the sticker :)

Comment: Rented a truck on 05/21. Asked to remove pads and dolly and was told that those are part of the truck. Other places gladly remove it for me as I need all of the space there is. Was disappointed with customer service at this location. U-haul is still great truck rental place.

Comment: RESPONSE TO 1 STAR COMMENT ABOUT DEBBIE ON BOTTOM: We have rented moving trucks and vans on multiple occasions and have had a storage unit - well 4 storage units, over the years - with this location for over 5 years now. We started with 2 of their largest as my father moved to Hawaii, downsized twice after he left, and again after my grandpa passed. Eventually all that remained was my sisters stuff. They dealt with changing owners repeatedly as people in our family moved, and even died, working around the system for us when needed. We have rented trucks with them, and only on one occasion when we didnt reserve did they not have what we needed available, but they located what we did need nearby and sent over a reservation for us. There have been occasion issues over the years, a late payment here or there as we switch owners, a lock that broke, lost key cards, etc, but issues happen always in everything. What impresses me is how well and quickly they work to handle it, and the personal touch they put add. The u-haul hot line that you get if you call after hours is... not nearly as personal or helpful, but the clerks who work here, especially the manager, really do their best to get their customers exactly what they need, and it comes across.PS The comment saying I stood in front of cashier Debbie for 10 minutes waiting while she held up a finger to wait - there is front desk with cashiers. Debbie is the manager. You stood in front of the manager desk waiting for her to finish a call. You could have turned and gone to the front desk for help any time. There might have been a line there that you didnt want to wait in, but you didnt have to wait for the manager unless you needed her. That was your choice brah.

Comment: I came to this location to get a hitch installed on my car. They were kind enough to accommodate my weekend work schedule and let me drop off the car early and pick up later in the evening. After the initial install, I noticed that my car was making rattling sounds when accelerating and braking. I called the store and they said to bring it in and they would look at it. They were able to fix the issue (which was apparently a bolt rubbing up against my exhaust) within an hour. I am very grateful for the extra time to fix my concerns and would recommend this Uhaul location and employees.

Comment: I recently rented a 9 foot UHaul van from this location. It was a great experience. I was worried about renting a UHaul vehicle because different locations have widely varying reviews some with horrifying experiences. I was very pleased with everything about this UHaul business. The location was good, the staff was pleasant and efficient, and the vehicle was clean and very easy to drive. I will rent from this location in the future.
