I had to call the 800 to make a complaint and did so while on hold. Still on hold for the manager its been almost 3 hours. Great idea just waste a customers day and be a jerk. Comment: Don’t normally post reviews, but my last experience with this location left me not wanting to use them again. Spent over 25 mins waiting for someone to come to the front to help the line of customers that had formed. Did find one employee at the back that told me, “don’t care” and walked away. Someone finally came to the front and assisted the line of customers. I’m extremely reluctant to use this location going forward.

Comment: I had checked their inventory online looking for a tow dolly, it said they had 2 available for a one way trip. I go in person to rent said toe dolly and the employee said they didnt have any to rent because they were all reserved. Being desperate we called customer support asking for help and we informed them what the employee had told us. The wonderful person ok the support line said that the uhaul did indeed have 2 tow dollys without reservations. But by that time we had driven 30 mins to the nearest uhaul and got a 6 x 12 flat tow. Moral of the story is this uhaul honestly is no good. 👎

Comment: I had an amazing experience! I have never rented anything of any kind, but UHAUL made everything AMAZINGLY SIMPLE! I had to relocate for a job opportunity and for the chance to start a new life in a new area. I rented the biggest truck they had. It was a brand new truck from what I could tell. It had low mileage and it ran great. It was a 200 mile trip, and that truck kept me comfortable the entire way. Returning the truck was SUPER EASY, I just dropped it off to the lot attendant guy. I will always choose UHAUL!

Comment: I dont know if all of these workers were just having the worst days of their lives or what? But heres the story. My husband went into U-Haul to ask questions about renting a storage unit and literally all of the workers looked at him and ignored him. Just blatantly... for NO REASON. My husband is literally the sweetest, most laid back guy. He called the uhaul help line (1-800 number) to ask questions about availability and the people on the phone made him go back inside. The second time he walked in there the general manager walked out and literally said Hes still here?! in a rude tone. Like what the hell is wrong with these people? Matt, Dylan, Justin, Joseph... you suck! Definitely make the drive to Red Bluff or go elsewhere if you need a unit.

Comment: They asked me to post to Google so here you go...Reserved an appliance dolly weeks before hand. Arrived to pickup my reservation and was told they were out. Cabin of truck had crumbs inside and broken cup holders. The lock provided for the back was rusted and unusable.Ended up needing to rent a trailer, so we tried calling the store and was put on hold for an hour. Ended up driving to the store while on hold.When I arrived there were two guys working. One guy was actively working, running around and whatnot. The other was just standing off to the side having a conversation with someone that seemed completely non work related. Left with the trailer while still on hold.

Comment: Can’t even believe the experience I had with them! I had a reservation for a pick up truck 8 days in advance, even called 3 days beforehand and confirmed the reservation. Showed up this morning and had the displeasure of interacting with their associate, Justin. This guy should NOT have a customer service job, he clearly doesn’t understand anything about it. Somehow my reservation was changed to a moving truck without any reason or explanation given. Justin had zero insight, zero ability to problem solve, and not one time did he express an apology for what happened. When I asked for a supervisor he told me, “he’s on vacation”…..again, when your place of business is responsible for the screw up, and your main supervisor isn’t available, figure something else out….hence my point? He does not have any customer service capabilities, I can’t believe a place of employment would have someone who conducts themselves like this be the face of their business? That’s going to turn a lot of people away!!! Apparently my reservation was randomly changed by one of their associates the evening before and I was never notified! They were out of pick up trucks, so Dylan, decided to make a note in the system and just moved my reservation to a moving truck instead..cuz why not?!?! Make sure you triple check your reservations and also be prepared to not have your reservation fulfilled because apparently that’s how they do business!I will, however, give a shout out to Erik and Matt, they at least apologized and tried to problem solve with us, so thank you for that! If I was their supervisor, I would make sure I contacted a customer who had the experience I had….

When I asked about it they said theyre not going to help me and shooed me out the door. Ive been told by corporate that the Redding location will reach out to me but never did. Absolutely unprofessional. Will not be using U-Haul again; especially since almost everyone else is cheaper.

The day before pick up I was told it was 60 miles in the opposite direction and I could pick it up there. They wont transport it to this local pick up so no trailer available. Coporate customer service sucks however I understand.

Comment: I rented a 15ft truck for my move from Washington state to Weaverville. I had pleasant in-person and phone conversations with U-Haul representatives, and I was issued a $125 refund for returning the truck to Redding instead of Weaverville. However, the truck had an 1/8 of a tank of gas when I picked it up, and I was told by the staff at the pickup location (Friendly Automotive & Tire in Yakima) that I needed to return it with that much gas. When my husband dropped the truck off in Redding, he was told it had to be returned at a quarter tank otherwise he would be charged $28.96. When he questioned them about the inconsistency, he was given a generic excuse about it being the company policy. Please dont provide information during pick-up that is going to be inconsistent with information at drop-off. I provided the same feedback to the pick-up location.

The storage units are in a bad area, with people living out of them, they break into them frequently and uhaul will not help you. Seek another storage, trust me.

Comment: The visit to this location was for propane purchase. The staff was helpful but less than enthusiastic about being there.The store has a wide selection of products useful for moving. However, I was there to buy propane and was quite irritated that they had the audacity to charge me 5 dollars for a hour of labor! When was deemed OK to bill a customer a labor charge for a employee your already paying? Didnt you figure this in already in the cost of doing business? Not to mention being billed a hour at any rate that only took 15 minutes or less to complete! Wrong answer! They will get zero business from me again, and I recommend skipping them altogether since business and finance isnt their strong suit and your likely to be over charged,broke, and angry when you walk out. They are not interested in their customers, just their money.

They told me it would be an hour. I waited for 2 and a half. If they would have been honest with the time frame I would have made sure I had a ride back to work. Now I lost out on hours because they wanted to under estimate the time it would take.Not impressed at all.

Comment: I wish I could give half a star or zero stars lol, not a good start for a business review.I moved from Arizona to Redding with my stuff in a U Haul trailer, unfortunately in July which was HOT (117 degrees). The place I was first told to take my trailer to was Direct Sales Furniture, you can go there to read my review of them if you want, they cussed me out simply for bringing my trailer to them which my official U Haul paperwork told me to do. I ended up at this U Haul location on Cypress which also didnt want it.They told me to leave and take it somewhere else after corporate told me to take it here after Direct A**hole Sales told me to take it somewhere else. When I finally talked to someone in the regional management of U Haul in that area they said to take go back in to put the rep on the phone (on my cell phone), who then proceeded to cuss out the U Haul corporate rep and throw my phone down on the counter and started helping someone else. Apparently the store employees are not on the same page as the corporate customer service folks. The in store people told me to take it somewhere else because they supposedly didnt have space for it while the reps on phone told me to take it to them (Cypress store) because the computer showed they DID have space for it. I almost decided to keep it or just dump it by the side of the road since nobody wanted it but I knew they would later say I stole the trailer and charge me for it.I went back and forth, into the store, back out into my 117 degree hot truck. The store manager was totally disrespectful and walked out at some point and left his workers to handle the line of customers. I will grant them it was hot out and that would be very hard to deal with but figure it out, work out more frequent brakes, keep the ac blowing, keep drinking water when its hot out, dont cuss out your customers and refuse to do your job. Apparently their computers werent working either, so ok does business stop? Get out a pen and paper and keep it going. Im your customer and IM hot too and Im never coming back to this place because you made me sit in your hot a** parking lot for over an hour!Finally an employee manned up and took my trailer and logged it so I could get on with my day with the peace of mind that I wont be charged a late fee or anything stupid.The customer service rep told me I would get a partial refund for the trouble I went through not just with this U Haul location but also the Direct Sales fiasco. When I got a call from the regional manager he said theres no refund for me but they are very sorry yes Im sure.These guys are very rude and disrespectful, dont walk, run away from this business!

Do not rent a u-box from this place to store at your home as they will call 3 weeks before they are supposed to pick it up and make you empty it so they can pick it up early, when they want to. They are unprofessional and threatened an elderly woman that if she didnt get it emptied overnight they would take the box to their storage facility with all of her stuff in it, essentially threatening grand theft. They dont care about their customers and they have horrible customer service. I would give them zero stars and I will tell everyone for the rest of my life to avoid using uhaul. The general manager of this location should be fired, as well as the driver who picked up the boxes.

Both times I gave up because it was making me late for work obligations. The previous time I visited this business it was the same experience. I counted 5+ employees working while standing there, each acting like they had all day to do whatever they needed to do. Absolutely absurd. Comment: U haul overall as a company throughout the years to me has been good, but not great.... Id say about 3.5 - 4 stars. But, with the horrific events of the Carr fire in Redding this last week, I am giving this location 5 stars. They helped me get in and out with a tow dolly in no time last Sat, even with the fire still raging just a couple miles away. I live about 15 miles away but there was a section of the fire headed my way so I picked up the tow dolly as a precaution for a classic car of mine, that way I had it ready if needed. Luckily the fire never made it to my home and I was able to return it unused after 3 days. Even though I had it 3 days, the guys there were nice enough to only charge me for 1 day since I never actually needed it. With this act of kindness I will be sure to pay the money they saved me forward to the victims of this terrible tragedy. Stay strong and vigilant Redding and neighboring areas.... we will recover. They assured me several times that I had one reserved, and even gave me the dimensions of it. When I got to Redding, there was no one in the building. Comment: Ive used this Uhaul at various times though out my 11 yrs in Redding. They installed a bike hitch on my new car and Ive always rented from them. I was suprised to see some of the reviews bc they are always so helpful and kind to me. Its a bummer that some renters before you dont clean up after themselves and that it was missed by them, but I am of the thought that when renting, you should always leave it cleaner than you found it. I ask a lot of questions and want to fully understand my storage space and rental obligations and have always gotten good advice from them. I think they are great and Id take them with me if I could! :)

Comment: We rented a 15 truck with worn out wiper blades for a one way rental to Washington during winter. The cab was dirty inside with something spilled all over the cup holders and reeked of cigarette smoke. They underestimated the mileage in order to fraudulently quote a lower rate then not only charged us additional mileage but made us clean the truck when we dropped it off. They fold your paperwork and attach it to the key so you cant read it then take it from you and wont return it at the drop off point. They tell you the only way to resolve a problem is to call the 800 number which tells you to read the paperwork they pulled from you at the drop off, before passing you to someone else. This was only $12 in my contract but the required cleaning of their unmaintained and dirty truck and the rude argumentative response from their 800 number service rep capped the already poor and deceptive service with an F you attitude that leaves you feeling belittled and cheated.You try to call the Redding location to resolve the problem and they dont respond to calls. Shoulda known.I stopped using U-Haul storage locations years ago after repeated fraud issues. Every time I have tried to do business with ANY U-haul location it goes badly. All future rentals will be with Penske and any storage location OTHER than U-Haul.For those with fraud issues contact the headquarters office and ask for Joe. Or better yet call his personal cell number. xxx-xxx-xxxx. Local police, BBB or District Attorneys have never helped in any of my complaints with U-Haul but Joe has.

Comment: We had a one-way rental from Eureka to Redding, with a guaranteed storage unit at Redding. Upon arrival at the Redding U Haul facility, we were told that they did not have any storage units available. We discussed the lack of units with U Haul Customer Service and were given a 3-day free extension of our rental equipment, including free mileage, so that we could obtain storage elsewhere. After obtaining storage with another facility, we returned our equipment to the Redding location; we returned the equipment prior to the end of our free extension. The following day, Redding U Haul, despite being told by U Haul Customer Service that we were NOT to be charged, attempted to charge our credit card.We have now had to file criminal charges against personnel at the Redding U Haul for credit card fraud; we provided Redding PD with the U Haul Customer Service email, that authorized the free extension, and a statement from our credit card company of the attempted charges. Redding PD informed us that the Redding U Haul has multiple complaints and pending criminal charges for credit card fraud.Do not use this location! If you must, use cash only!We were lucky that our credit card company denied the additional charges by this facility and has now reversed the original charges from U Haul altogether.

These guys explained everything to me, nicely, professionally and even though I didnt end up using my own vehicle, I was able to secure another one and still managed to rent the trailer same day!
