Comment: UPDATE: JANUARY 2024There are a lot of drug addicts that come and go into the storage units and hang out in the bathroom or right outside of it. The automatic door lets anyone inside, please be careful choosing to store your things here. Very grateful that I am no longer needing to utilize this storage service at this location.ONE YEAR PRIOR:My experience has up until today has been well. I was not informed about the new entrance nor key card I was supposed to have. I went through the back as I have done since renting this storage. I found something had leaked into my unit, I called several- several times and never reached the desk. I flagged down an IT guy who helped me by calling the office. The guy who came to help was extremely friendly and kind. I started to leave and realized I had forgot to unload quite a bit of things. So I drove around and asked how do I get back in because the door I normally use won’t open from the outside now. I’m abruptly told you need a card and to use the entrance, I responded I was never informed about this change and proceeded to get a card. I’m given a card, So I’m driving once again to the new entrance only to find my card does not work. I try calling again several times, cannot reach the desk the call buttons on the card keypad don’t work so I walk around this construction fencing back inside wait in line and tell them my card does not work. The blonde girl with the double nose piercing and floral tattoo, sighs and says let me try it- in a way that implied I must have done it wrong. Well it doesn’t work for her either, she try’s another card, same thing. She tries her card it works, I ask her can I just set up a pin? We set up a pin same thing, not working. She mentions her manager is not there, and tells me to come back tomorrow. I work 6 days straight every other week varying shifts of either opening/mid/closing. I’ve been up since 4:25 am and do not have any other days to come back until the following week. I tell her this, she couldn’t care less. I ask could you use your card so I can access the door? She said how long will it take. I almost lost it, I work customer service myself and could never treat a customer this way. I told her I just need to grab my dolly out of my storage unit and take it to my car to load it up and go in. She GRUDGINGLY grabbed her keys and followed me to the new entrance. Once there she opened the door and when I came back she was gone, I had to prop my dolly inside the automatic doors and carry my things by hand to the inside set them down and then reload it on my dolly I used to block the door with before being able to take to my unit. The service from this day and your employee are shocking. I will be calling Walt or whoever their manager is tomorrow. Thank you to the two guys that helped me. I want to say Frank? And the IT guy as well. I genuinely appreciate you. I also want to add that I absolutely have had bad days in customer service, but I always take care of my customers even the disgruntled ones. I go out of my way to give great service and I hope this feed back helps you deep dive into some of your employees and how they represent your business.

Comment: This place is so disorganized- they changed our order with out notice 17ft to 26ft yet there was at least 5 17ft trucks and 8 20ft trucks. We rented only for 3-4 hours. Then they wouldn’t price match the mileage to the 17ft. Guy wrote sown the wrong gas amount in the truck and wrong mileage on the dash. We had to photo proof it so we wouldn’t be over charged. Also they had the wrong truck number written on the paper paperwork- we we had to search in the parking lot for the correct truck. Guy didn’t walk us to the truck. Lazy crew I’ve been here several times and each of those times there are 4-5 other people standing around doing nothing while we self check out the truck

Comment: First. I went to U-Haul looking for a 10x25 unit which they told me they had. It turned out to be 4 individual units situated quite a distance from one another. Secondly, I had a trailer reserved for later that day. I arrived at 630 pm (30 minutes before they closed). The kid who worked the front desk couldnt get the computer to accept a cash transaction, although I strongly suspect it was purely laziness on his part to have to start a new cash bank as they most likely already closed it out. The end result was I had no moving trailer to move with which really screwed things up for me as I then had to use my truck making 5 times more trips.Thirdly, The staff there are very young, the GM is probably 25 years old, most likely employed by U-Haul on a gender requirement basis as she is extremely unprofessional and not very accommodating. The place is very dirty with many homeless people going in and out. The bathroom facilities EXTREMELY dirty and the staff is extremely rude. The one positive thing to say is that the system they have is very secure so you wont have problem with a break in.

Comment: Review on the storage portion. Pretty much brand new and very clean.Very secure and climate controlled. Nice to hang out there on a hot day.Lots of carts to borrow. Not a lot of people going in and out.Being the old KMart, lots of parking.Judy Castillo the manager was extremely helpful. Very nice and easy to deal with. No pressure at all.

Comment: This is the best self storage!! Due to the units being inside a building they stay clean and dust free. You dont have to worry about anything getting damaged due to the elements. And its a convenient location as well.The staff is great and they have made very nice upgrades to the place making it safer!

Comment: Easy to get to, this U-Haul location was a welcome sight after a long day of moving. It was late, about 9pm when we dropped off the truck. The experience was easy with the truck return after hours; simply follow the prompts on your smart phone, take a few pics, and return the key in the night slot. Super easy. Well-lit parking lot as well. This must be one of U-Hauls larger locations because the parking lot was huge and there was a big selection of moving trucks.

Comment: Employees are very rude! They think they own the whole parking lot, which they dont! They lease 1/4 of the lot in front of the store. If you use the west side of the parking lot, (that is empty and nowhere close to their equipment) to teach your kids how to drive, or practice driving they send one of their employees out to tell you to leave or they will call the police. I guess employees need to know that U haul doesnt own the parking lot. If they did the medical office staff wouldnt be able to park there. It is privately owned by a big corporation. It is open to the public during business hours. Please dont be bullied by them.

Comment: Had a reservation for 8am, apparently someone called out sick, the employee present at the time was helping unload something in the back, and no one would help us. Had to wait around for an hour past our reservation time. Our movers had to sit around waiting for us to bring our truck before they could move anything. This pushed back the time the other movers at the new house could come. Plus, the car tow that was ordered suddenly was only be available in Lompoc. Had to call and make other arrangements with a different Uhual location in Santa Maria to acquire a tow for our car. Uhual pretty much screwed up our entire day with their terrible customer service. Even worse, we went back and tried to return unused boxes, and was told it couldnt be done because the manager wasnt there. Yes, because when moving I definitely have time to drive down to uhual multiple times to check in and see if the manager is there ( because also no one at this location picks up the phone). It might be a new uhual located with a big parking lot and seem convenient, but dont be fooled.
