The building may look odd but I didn’t feel “unsafe”.The check in was fast, honestly the fastest we have ever had with U-Haul. I had a couple of questions during our day because we were running behind during our move and they were beyond helpful. Drop off was a breeze as well.I would definitely use this location again.

Comment: I was a little nervous about the location after reading some reviews stating that it was pretty run down, but immediately upon my arrival despite the look of the building the people running it knew exactly who I was and prompt to make sure that I knew what I was doing and helped to answer all my questions. The truck was in great condition and all the pick up and drop off instructions/ process was easy.For this being my first time renting a u-haul, I’d highly recommend this location.

Comment: Retrieving a rented truck was fine. vehicle was clean and in working condition. i noticed that when i got in the vehicle the fuel wasnt at the half tank they claimed so i snapped a pic. upon returning, i made sure to fill it up a little more than what i retrieved.....my bill didnt reflect that though. they tried to charge me extra to refuel, until i provided PROOF. i called to corporate and this was taken care of, but ill never rent from this dishonest location again.

Comment: The experience and customer service was fine until I returned the truck back. A different person came to retrieve the truck, and was somewhat rushing me to leave. I asked if they need a signature or to check anything with myself present, but said I was okay to leave. I regret doing that, and should’ve taken a photo of the fuel gauge beforehand. I had driven close to 70 miles, so I knew it wouldn’t be the cheapest U-Haul rental due to the mileage rate. I was planning on getting a van, but all nearby locations had them unavailable. Even with the mileage rate, and filling the tank slightly over from the level I received it, I was still charged for refueling. It was already $150 they were receiving from me. So to charge me for missing fuel that I already paid for at a nearby gas station prior to returning the truck, it shows a lot about the operations.I have already attempted emailing them about the issue to solve this, but have been ignored. I will update in case they decide to reach out.

Comment: Im surprised by the high ratings this location received. I found the office manager not very helpful or honest and the advertising of 24 hour drop off to be false. My wife and I called twice to verify that we could drop off a tow dolly and we were assured that we could after hours, only to find out it was for trucks only. When I complained to the office manager of the bad information, she said that it was normal. She even opened the gate after hours, but refused to let me drop off the dolly, because she didnt know how the lot is setup. I dont recommend this business establishment.

Comment: This commentary is regarding the staff at 2495 Hotel Circle Place San Diego, CA 92108. I had rented a truck and a car hauler from U Haul to be picked up at this location. I picked up the truck in the morning and was to return later to pick up the car hauler after loading the truck. Our plans were delayed and it was getting close to closing time so I called customer service. Customer service stated they contacted the office and they would prefer we got there by 6pm (closing time) but someone would be there for a few minutes if we were late. We pulled in at 6:04pm, the gate was open, and another person was looking over a truck they just picked up. A gentleman in the lot as I approached ran to his personal vehicle as I asked him about picking up the car hauler that happen to be right in front of me he waived his hand in my face and abruptly said “Closed, We Closed” I tried to ask him for consideration and he said “my time we closed”. I picked up my phone to call customer service and while on the phone the employee proceeded to try to move vehicles around in the lot so he could drive off. My vehicle was in the middle of the drive, which was frustrating him immensely. He then got in my vehicle; unwelcomed of course and tried to drive off in my truck. I grabbed the keys; he then proceeded to try to intimidate me by backing another truck towards mine and finally stopped when he hit my truck. All of this occurred while on the phone with customer service. By this time customer service found me another location with the same equipment. I got my wife in the truck safely who was terrified by this point and we proceeded to leave for the other location. At which point the employee spun out of the gravel lot sliding to a stop in the street in front of me because he had to go back and shut the gate.This was a horrific experience. I would strongly urge all that consider renting from U Haul to go out of your way to avoid using this location. This individual, could not speak or understand English, clearly does not embrace the concept of customer service, has total disregard for personal property and personal safety. If you choose not to heed this warning be prepared to be verbally and physically assaulted at this location. If there was an award for the “Absolute Worst U Haul Experience” this would be it.
