Comment: We had a really negative experience with a different uhaul site and Nick and Anthony went above and beyond to remedy the situation, even though it wasnt their problem to fix! Both were extremely friendly and helpful and both went out of their way trying to get our wiring up and running so that we could safely tow our trailer rental. They were able to get the resources to get it done on short notice and had me tow ready. I rented a trailer then and had a great experience with the reservation, getting it hooked up and an easy return process in SoCal.

Comment: They made my moving experience so pleasant. I havent moved in over a decade and this was process. I came a few days before the move and I was greeted by Anthony the store manager. I explained my concerns and he listened and suggestion items for my move. He said dont worry we know this is a stressful experience; we are here to help you make this part less stressful.On the day of the move, I walked in to the store; I was greeted, mind you it was the weekend the busiest day/time. Nicole checked me in and walked across the counter to help me select items that Anthony had noted in my account. I was shocked that he took the time to note comments in my account i.e. mattress cover, couch cover, and extra boxes. I wanted a few other things however, Nicole said you dont need this for your move. (Thank You) Which made me feel like they arent hustling and care . The truck was extemely clean, had gas, and road smoothly. Returning the truck was just as pleasant. I cant recommend this location enough. Thank you for making this part of the move pleasant . Shout out to Anthony/Nicole for going the extra mile to help me the move. Highly recommend this location.

Comment: Drove out of lot and gas gauge immediately went from 1/4 to EMPTY less than two miles after leaving lot. Took pictures to prove. Still got charged for fuel even though filled tank 5 gallons and gauge still read 1/8 after driving less than 40 miles. Calmly attempted to discuss problem with staff and SHE JUST DIDN’T UNDERSTAND OR CARE TO UNDERSTAND THAT THE GAS GUAGE WAS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. Did not receive any refund as promised for returning vehicle with gas. Somehow my estimate started at $40 then $70 and was ultimately charged $94 with less than 40 miles/5 hours of usage. WORST EXPERIENCE. NEVER GOING BACK TO DEAL WITH INCOMPETENT, UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF.

Speaking of parking lot.. I understand finding work is even more difficult for some then others but as a U-Haul customer I dont appreciate coming back a few hours later to return a uhual truck and finding a few day laborers leaning on my car. Not cool U-Haul. No control in parking lot. As Im sitting in my car writing this there are 2 day laborers leaning on the car next to me. A really nice and new BMW. I dont think the BMW owner would be too happy either to return to see that.

It’s a bit unnerving and made me feel unsafe.The place also seems a bit short staffed as I had to wait for a while before anyone showed up at the desk. This happened during both the pickup and drop off. However, the staff was helpful and nice once they got to the desk.The vehicle was great. Quite low on fuel though, just a bit above a quarter.I won’t recommend the location because of the homeless people around the entrance.

The service was excellent, the truck (10 box) was clean and powerful, the check-in process was efficient and my bill was very accurate (it was adjusted lower to account for fewer miles used than anticipated).Lastly, the rental literally amounted to almost half of what I would have paid another competitor just 1/4 mile down the street.I will use U-Haul Concord again!

I spent 17 years of my life in fast paced customer service environments like the U Haul on Monument in Concord and how pressure filled and difficult that can be. The unrealistic customer expectations (some of dont understand that it is impossible to properly staff for every hour of the day), the phones ringing, the highs and lows of the day. Anthony is always in a great mood and I know when I step in for a truck and see him, that my small business needs will be taken care of. My wife and I run a home staging business and will one day own our own truck. But we couldnt have gotten to where we are without the amazing customer service and flexibility of this U Haul location and Anthony in particular. We are so grateful for him.

Comment: I know this place gets a bad wrap and I get it … sometimes the line is long. But sometimes it isn’t. It comes in waves, and that’s hard to predict and staff for.What I do know is Kathleen is incredible and she makes every visit a pleasant one. I rent a truck at least a few times a month and she’s absolutely awesome. She is patient, polite, calm and just so peaceful. Not to mention, she is very thorough and never misses a detail.Anthony, the manager, is also a really great guy. Avoid this place by all means. Go to enterprise across the street. This incident was on Saturday July 9UpdateThursday - July 14. Store manger, Anthony called, very polite and sincere. He said the matter will be discussed with the employee and refunded the fee. Comment: Wow look at these reviews. Sadly our experience was similar to so many others. Waited in line and overheard the staff interactions with other customers that were snide and downright rude. Raised voices and arguments to rent a van just did not seem to be necessary. Specifically the older lady sitting at the counter was downright surly. One guy even got in another line to deal with someone other than her. Our exchange with her was not as volatile but her comments and demeanor left much to be desired. The vehicle we rented did not appear to be cleaned or serviced recently. We had to stop at a nearby gas station to clean the windshield so we could see to drive it. I would not recommend this location and will not return to this location again.

I was slightly late for my reservation (on a reservation that says “reservation guarantee” and “pick up any time”), but they’d given the truck away, wouldn’t help me find another one, and didn’t give me any assistance, simply said “it’s the end of the month and we’re over booked.” I then tried to call the customer service line, was on hold for 30 minutes, only for them to drop my call. Moving is stressful as it is; Uhaul made it 10x worse.

Had an appointment for trailer hitch at 1pm, to WAIT. They didnt even have my truck pulled in at 4pm. I asked for an update and the same guy said he thought it was done, and I said the truck hadnt moved. He went to check and came back and said the manager will be right here. Manager comes, and he says he didnt even know I was there to get a hitch.. and then says he was going to call us to reschedule.. I was clearly confused and frustrated, so he then says he can do it right then, in 30 minutes. I agreed, thankfully, and then it took another hour before he was done. When he was done, he gave us his card and said he would be refunding us the labor charges because it took so long and we waited for so long outside. When we asked for a receipt, he said one would be emailed. One was not. No refund had yet posted. I emailed him the following day, the email was invalid. I tried again, and again it kicked back. I confirmed a refund was posted for less than half of the labor charges, a refund of $60 when we paid $150 for labor, $420 total.. I called the cell number on the card, and reached him and he said while he may have told me that, he only refunds one labor charge and never more so he just gave me the lesser of the two (there are two charges, a wiring labor charge and a hitch labor charge). I explained it wasnt fair that he told us one thing and did another, and he said, Well, yeah thats what we do, we only give one refund so yeah. I will never go back and I do not recommend you do either. PS, if you are a woman, do not go alone. Groups of guys huddle outside waiting for work, and they like to stare and call at you while you wait outside. Ya cant wait in your car because they take your keys. Just a thought!

Comment: Went to have hitch installed on brand new Subaru Forester. Needed a 1-1/4. U-Haul (Concord) ordered part. We returned for install. They installed a 2 hitch (apparently ordered the wrong part). Tried to convince us to just use an adapter. No, we wanted the correct size. They ordered the correct size. Came back a week later to have correct size installed. Two weeks later (while washing car) noticed that the body part behind the front passenger wheel well (dont know what its called ... maybe part of the fender system) was missing entirely. Looked on the other side and noticed that the push rivets connecting the other side were also missing. (The part hadnt fallen off yet but that was just a matter of time.) Went back to U-Haul today. Of course they were adamant that no, they dont touch that part while installing a hitch and theres no way the missing part had anything to do with them. Of course. Well spend $500+ getting it replaced and repaired at the dealership. Should have gone there to have the hitch installed in the first place. It would have been done correctly and probably would have cost us less. I would definitely think twice before having this particular U-Haul branch install a hitch on a new car (or any car for that matter).

When I went to pick up the van, they said it could not be returned in SF and, rather, I’d have to drive it back to Concord (thus increasing my cost by about $30). Furthermore, on their website they claim the 9 foot cargo van can hold a queen sized mattress. It cannot. I had to then, in the middle of the day, exchange the vehicle for a 10 foot truck, but had to pay an extra $30 to rent the truck for the day. All of that on top of very poor service. Would not recommend at all.

Comment: Terrible Location.Ive had good luck with other U-Haul locations but this one really let me down.Do not order any packing material you need online, pay for in advance, and expect it to be there when you arrive. They will still sell the items to people first come first serve and not honor your CONTRACT which you already made online and they have a pending charge in your bank account for.Theyre supposed to look first thing at what orders were made and pull them off the shelf, this place does not do that. So after driving 30 minutes in the morning to pick up your stuff when you already reserved and entered a CONTRACT (their words) with U-Haul on, they will most likely not be there.They didnt offer to have them shipped to that location from another store that had the items for me or offer any suggestions. When I showed up a rude agent telling my trailer pick up location was changed to Stockton and someone was tried to call me a day before which I never received. Complained how this could happen, a Relief District manager stepped in saying there is nothing we can about this, you have a little inconvenience to go to Stockton to pick up your trailer or call my boss and walked away. So I could not pick up trailer on my reserved day and location and ended up cancelling my moving and paying cancellation fees to moving helpers. Comment: If you want a good experience, go into the store AT LEAST A WEEK before your move and make a reservation IN PERSON. If you call in there is a 95% chance that you will be forwarded to the call center and the person helping you will give you a reservation without telling you that it is subject to availability so you will waste time coming in and standing in line just to hear they dont have that equipment. There is no point coming in without a reservation on the weekends, you will waste your time, there is no point making a reservation the morning of your move, you will waste your time. If you do go in there and the person behind the counter tells you nothing is available, go somewhere else, if you try to call in and make a reservation, nothing will magically appear and you will be wasting your time.

The employees were friendly and doing the best they could with the hand they were dealt. When I arrived to pickup the trailer there were two employees trying to handle 15 customers, not fair to the employees that staffing was off, but they moved as quickly as one could expect and got through the line. They hooked up my trailer for me and off I went.

We ordered a hitch and installation for our vehicle and set the install to be done at this location. We were set with a day and time. On the day of install we were called maybe 30 minutes before and told it would have to be done another day because they didnt have all the necessary parts. Rescheduled and when it came to the day of install we arrived to drop it off only to find out low and behold the parts still werent there. I mentioned that having a system in place to avoid this happening would be helpful. So once again we rescheduled...what we shouldve done was to listen to all of the signs of incompetence and just asked for a refund at that point in time. So here we are today! The day of install (again). We drop the car off, make sure they have ALL of the required parts and left for a planned day out celebrating my fathers 72 birthday. Only to get a call after we sat down for lunch by the notorious George telling my husband that they cannot complete the install. They couldnt (aka didnt know how) get my break light off, tried with force it and BROKE IT. Heres where it starts to get good...WE would have to go get a new break light cover and they would just reimburse us!! HA!! How bout no! How about you figure it out since you broke it! When my husband went to retrieve the car he was refused a full refund, had several of the staff arguing and insulting us about our RIGHT to a FULL REFUND. We did finally get the full refund but still will have to deal with them about the repair cost. Nightmare! Pay more and go take your business where professional and competent work AND customer service is a priority!

Comment: My truck was clean inside and out. The girl that helped me was cute but never checked the mileage when she or whoever she had pull up the truck. i got home and realized it said id already done 40 miles when i went 3. fearing I would be charged for the mistake I also made by not catching it right away, i begrudgingly returned and was given a 110 dollar total. but the dude with longer beard hooked me up by charging me the miles i actually went. i wish i got his name but if you are nice to these people they have no problem providing excellent customer service.Just a heads up the call center that picks up the phone acts like they are on location but they really arent so if you are trying to communicate with someone there at the Monument store they might not get whatever message you are trying to get them...would recommend and use again.

Comment: The only reason i have given 2 STARS (INSTEAD OF 1) is because i was in and out of Uhaul quickly when I first pick up the vehicle...looks can be deceiving. I kept the 20 for almost 2 weeks...but I didnt call Uhaul...I guess they assumed I had stole it being that i only parked a mile and a half away from them...my whole apartment was in it...EVERYTHING i packed shifted...BROKE my 60 Samsung flatscreen. Anyway...basically they REPOED the truck AFTER THEY CALLED TO SAY I HAD 24 HOURS TO CALL THEM...SO that would make them liers and a location to not trust. The person who made the call admitted to as much and never said WHY i didnt get the time they said to deal with it.These people are VERY unprofessional....confrontational...i saw a couple verbal arguments just while i was there to GET MY TRUCK AND STUFF BACK(They just requiered that i pay in full and upfront for any more time i wanted.I had till the next morning to return the truck but i couldnt get any help unloading into storage....couldnt get it back to Uhaul until 5pm......The guy checking everything in was THE ONLY REASON I WOULD CONSIDER USING THEM AGAIN...i owed 27$ ...being that i was in dire straits as i told him....he actually waved the rest of what i owed...prob because i paid 670$ the day before....In conclusion....they are convenient caus they are close...the ONLY reason i might use them again...but doughtful

Comment: Well as the reviews already state, the line is brutal. We even did the recommendation of doing check-in online and reserved our truck weeks prior but still had to wait to get keys. The staff seem to almost hate the work place and were complaining that nobody ever shows up to work on time.The management does not have a system established to make the process so much more efficient. This company I can tell loses tons of profitability on customer dissatisfaction and the staff not making this an fast/enjoyable experience. People are moving and already stressed out so make a process that makes the consumer less stressed or just a process that is fast. Out of the 10 people in line, not one person seems like they been welcomed or even acknowledged by staff!Never again.

Check truck thoroughly. Some had significant damage and some had food and trash in them. Think sun-baked old fried chicken on the dash.

He said the call center is in Arizona and they make reservations without any consideration as to whether the work can be done. Comment: U-Haul hitch installation was a bust. I tried to get a hitch for my 2016 HR-V back in Feb 2017. Im writing this post now because it still eats me up inside that the management would allow people without the proper training to touch my car. It was his second day at the job. Very nice person, but should have not proceeded with the installation. The installer did not know how to wire my car, find the wiring or install it properly. I was there for a total of 4 hours. I left the first time with my muffler rattling and plastic covering zip tied to my car. I stayed in the parking lot and they uninstalled the hitch and broke a majority of my clips. I had to go to Honda the next day to make sure nothing was permanently damaged. The parts cost me $80 and the manager told me she would front the cost, but when I called she never replied.

Comment: I found this location to be efficient and effective. I had no problem with getting the truck I reserved. All equipment I rented worked well. The trucks fuel gauge was on full when I got the truck. Turning in the truck was quite easy. Some of the negative reviews left me wondering if the reviewers know how to get along with people, or be a little tolerant. The world does not center around you. I found with a modicum of patience, things go a lot better. I will do business again with the Monument Blvd, Concord store again. I love the other helpful products they sell. Very handy.

Comment: Yesterday I picked up a car dolly and they installed onto my truck. The young man asked a few questions. Do I know how to use ratchet Tues? Yes. . Do I know how to pull a trailer? Yes.. Told me do not jerk or fast lane change. Anyways he said I was ready to go ... I jumped on the freeway and the tire straps were not tightened. It was completely pulled out ready. The straps one was dragging the other got tangled up in the axle. Causing the trailer tires to smoke and lock up .. uhaul employee should Id had straps tightened before they even send you off. Yesterday was a rainy day it was wet roads were slippery. The trailer did its own thing . I just got into the freeway heading to the roll bridge. Very dangerous situation that the young man did without making sure that their customers safe. I called uhaul and got a dispatch person took two request for a manager to return my call back that it was urgent that its regarding safety of thier customers. Still waiting 24 hours now. I bet they wont call.

Get a call back an hour before saying they dont have the part and I need to reschedule. Comment: I made a reservation almost 2 weeks ago to pick up a 15 ft. truck today (7/30/16) so I could move the rest of my belongings up to our new house in Sonora. I called yesterday and confirmed and got another reservation number by email.After driving 2+ hours from Sonora to Concord amd waiting in line over 1/2 an hour, I was informed that they had no 15 ft. truck available. Just great!Not only that but 3 other people were informed while I was there that they didnt have the truck or trailer they had reserved. Another person stormed out, got in his truck and lit up his tires when he pulled out onto Monument Blvd. Apparently, another satisified customer.So now I have to pay another $293 to Public Storage for another couple of weeks, paid $30+ for gas there and back, and lost about $400 in pay because I took the day off to get my belongings.When I got home, I tried to complain online, but all I got was a live chat, which is real 3rd grade level bull s**t. Eff that.One way or another, I am going to collect from these A-holes.If you have any brains, dont rent from Uhaul Concord. I have a feeling that the good reviews are from people who either got lucky, or are God D@mned liars.

Everything about the experience was positive. The only negative was the lack of parking for local rentals, so I had to park in a retail lot across the street.
