Comment: This lot doesnt allow you to park on site when renting a car. They make you park in the neighborhood which is a long way from the dealership and hard to find non metered parking. Thankfully it was during the day so I could walk by myself but otherwise this was a big inconvenience. They should allow parking for less than 3 hour rentals. Manager not very helpful.

I tried calling the number and got voicemail. I called the 800 number and the representative moved my reservation to the Crenshaw location. This was inconvenient, causing a longer travel distance and I was late picking up my items.

Comment: Had an extremely disappointing encounter at this location due to an employee named Ryan, we rushed out get there before the closing after an exhausting day. Ryan not only refused to offer the needed assistance, falsely citing the cashiers early closure. RYANs behavior was outright sadistic--mocking and disrespecting us, and laughing as we begged for help, highlighting the distance we had to travel back home. His enjoyment of this power trip was evident and deeply troubling. Also, he had personal conversations with his girlfriend on speakerphone in front of us instead of trying to resolve our issue, showcasing a complete disregard for professionalism. When requested to speak with a manager, he dismissively laughed, falsely claiming he didnt have one. His refusal to provide his name, which I later identified through photos here, was particularly aggravating. This encounter was not just unhelpful but demeaning and added unnecessary stress and cost . I really hope this feedback is taken into account to substantially improve customer service standards at this location.

Comment: I will never recommend this office, as there are staff who cheat. We took a car with 9/16 tank fuel, after 20 miles the fuel level dropped and the low fuel level sensor turned on. I had to top up the fuel by $ 100 so that the level was 9/16 again. After refueling, the fuel was consumed slowly, as it should be. I am sure that this deception with fuel was done by the staff.

Comment: After submitting my feedback, Uhaul suggested I post to Google too.No to all of the above (was the equipment well maintained and would I recommend to a friend), and further: I reserved equipment that when I arrived, I was told was not available. The men checking me out joked if off as if I then didn’t have to still move a couch. I also wasn’t given everything I ordered, even what was in stock, after being assured it was all in the truck. I was given no instructions, and the clerk pulled the truck up blocking the entrance, so I had to drive without having a moment to orient or adjust. Bad enough of an experience that I wouldn’t use this service again.

Comment: Reserved a 9 cargo van two weeks in advance. about a week before was told to go to Crenshaw location because original choice location - Beverlywil may not have one available. i arrive half an hour early at Crenshaw and im told that no 9 cargo van is available and one should be returned by a customer by 9am. waited until 9am, no van, asked store mgr - Roy to find out where the van is. he calls the customer with the van and tells me that customer will call him back. meanwhile i have movers at my place ready, i cannot wait any longer and store mgr says i can rent a 10 covered truck instead and get a $50 refund. i thought it was reasonable at first until i saw on the invoice that a 10 van costs $1.39 per mile vs. the 9 i reserved which costs $.89 per mile. i tell the mgr that i dont want to overpay for cost per mile just because he doesnt have my reserved 9 cargo van, he doesnt care.i return the 10 van after moving as agreed and then see that my receipt does not have the $50 refund as promised by the mgr. i open a case with Uhaul and then get an email that $50 has been refunded. this is not enough, you cannot make your customers pay for a more expensive van just because you dont have the reserved one ready. i will follow up with my claim after this. and if i have to, also dispute the difference with my credit card co. all this could have been avoided but the mgr just didnt even care to let me know first thing in the morning that my reserved van was not ready. and by the way, a customer in front of me that morning got a 9 cargo van, i can therefore only conclude that the mgr overbooked the 9 cargo van to multiple customers. shameful.

Comment: I reserved a van today at U-Haul Crenshaw through the app, I chose a one-way option. Then, when I got to the pick up location and confirmed amount of mileages and duration of renting, the staff guy said it’s impossible for this van to make a one-way and I must return the van to the same location. I was confused about it and was thinking about how it could be as I chose this option on the app. The staff guy convinced me it will be cheaper to return this van to the same location instead taking another one with one-way option and he said it’ll be around $100 instead approximately $50 for in-town, so I agreed with him. After that, when I returned the van, I saw that I’m charged much more than was expected and that guy and the app showed me, and I realised that it’s because that guy named a price with amount of mileages in my one-way direction. So that guy just mixed up everything and told me incorrect information. I really disappointed this first experience with U-Haul. In addition, I added 2 medium sized boxes to my order in the app and of course I was charged for it but this guy let me without these boxes, I realised it only when I was far away from that place. So I’d like to get a refund for these boxes weren’t given to me. And I’d like to know what we can do in this situation when the stuff member just confused me and I had to pay much more in the end.

Roy’s incompetence and lack of professionalism were astonishingly evident throughout our interaction. From the moment I entered the store, it was clear that Roy was ill-prepared to handle even the simplest of customer inquiries.Firstly, Roy displayed a complete lack of product knowledge. I asked him about the different types of trucks available for rent, and he seemed utterly clueless. He stumbled through his words, struggled to provide accurate information, and left me feeling more confused than when I first approached him. It was as if he had never bothered to familiarize himself with the basics of the business he was managing.Moreover, Roy’s customer service skills were abysmal. He displayed a dismissive and condescending attitude towards me and other customers. He seemed disinterested in our concerns and showed no willingness to assist or provide any meaningful support. It was clear that he viewed his role as a mere inconvenience and had no intention of going above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction.To make matters worse, Roy’s organizational skills were shockingly lacking. When I requested a specific truck size for my move, he informed me that none were available, despite my reservation being made well in advance. He failed to communicate this to me beforehand, leaving me stranded without any suitable alternatives. It was a testament to his incompetence and a clear indication of his inability to manage even the most basic logistical operations.Overall, my experience with Roy, the general manager at U-Haul, was utterly frustrating and disappointing. His lack of product knowledge, poor customer service, and organizational ineptitude were inexcusable for someone in a position of leadership. I strongly urge U-Haul to reevaluate his suitability for the role and to invest in employees who are competent and genuinely care about providing a positive customer experience.Based on my encounter with Roy, I would strongly advise anyone in need of moving services to explore alternative options. Comment: The employees at this location were really great, kind, and helpful.When I arrived to pick up my reserved truck, the Uhaul staff said there had been a problem with online reservations and so I may not be able to get the reserved truck the day I scheduled it. It ended up being okay and I got the truck, but it made me really nervous to ever trust Uhauls online reservations, especially because no one called or contacted me ahead of time to let me know about the potential problem. Most people plan far ahead of time their move date and if they dont get a truck that day, it can lead to a big crisis, especially if people are moving on the last day of their contract, etc.In addition, the Uhaul app was not working.With that being said, I know those potential problems are about the companys infrastructure, workflows, and processes that (probably) span across all location and are not necessarily the employees fault. The employees themselves at this location were really great, kind, and helpful.

Comment: I’ve had nothing but great experiences with UHaul rental locations and this one was no exception. Keyana was so helpful in helping me to reserve the right trailer for my trip, and she even searched around town to track down items for me after I decided on a last minute change. Keyana’s patience and super friendly personality made this somewhat stressful event much more easy going and manageable. Ryan was the technician who installed the trailer onto my truck and he did a very thorough job of making sure I was 100% ready to go for the road, and he installed the trailer very quickly which I really appreciated. When Ryan went to check to make sure the brake lights were working properly, he noted that the fuse in my truck was burnt out and he even took the time to replace it for me! Nothing but good things to say about this location!

It was clear that it was not cleaned well as it looked like the personnel was just about to start cleaning it before handing it over to me when I arrived by mid morning. The van reeked of what I believed to be urine and other awful smells. The steering wheel was also very sticky. You feel like you need to shower the second you open the door and enter the vehicle. I am generally okay with dirtiness and things not being clean but this was a whole new level... I had a friend who was helping me move and he entered the vehicle and made the same comment regarding the smell...Absolutely one of the worst rental vehicles I have every rented... would not recommend this location. AVOID if you can and save yourself the additional stress of a gross car during moving, which is already stressful...

Despite having a month-old reservation and a matching current, valid CA drivers license, we were told that the ID didnt look real and that all members of our party were being recorded on a U-haul blacklist. Please note that the process for verification was strictly subjective and visual: there was no official procedure or machine used to validate the license, which has never had its validity questioned. No remedy was offered by the female employee at the counter, who was curt and dismissive in her interactions with customers. We were forced to travel and had to rent a smaller trailer the same day from the Baldwin Hills location, which had no problem verifying valid drivers licenses and provided quick and pleasant customer service.

Comment: This place managed to make me angrier than I have ever been in my life. I now understand how The Hulk must feel. (No, I didn’t smash anything. But the anger!!) We made our reservation for 8am to pick up via mobile device. When we arrived, the website told us that our reservation had been rescheduled for hand delivery and we couldn’t pick it up until 9am. This was never communicated to us. Not via email or text or anything. I got on the phone to call the main uhaul line, and since we couldn’t do anything we went to grab a coffee while I sat on hold. I was on hold for 45 minutes, and transferred 3 times and no one was able to help. They said we would need to talk to the store. We arrived back at the uhaul and there was an employee parking returned vehicles. When I asked him if we could pick up our truck because we were supposed to pick up at 8, he said he couldn’t help us until they opened at 9 (it was 8:55). When I asked why he could help other people and not us he said, “if you don’t like it. Go somewhere else.”We’re now an hour behind in what was a very tight schedule. When they finally opened the store, we went in to pick up our truck and the woman behind the desk proceeded to lie to us. She said our pick up time was not for 8, it was for 9. At this point I started crying from frustration. When we showed her the email confirming our reservation for 8 she said, “well then someone didn’t set it up last night and that’s not my fault.” To which I responded, “I really don’t care whose fault it is. I just want to get our truck and go.” She looked at me and said, “I’m not talking to you. I’m talking to him” and pointed at my fiancé. I really didn’t know how to respond to this. Somehow, we got through the check in process and got our truck but it was a long, frustrating, and unprofessional experience. Do not go here.

Doesn’t honor reservations and is completely unhelpful to the point of absurdity. Clearly has a loathing for the customer. Goes against U-Haul mission and vision. Avoid this branch at all costs!

Comment: Although I was able to rent the truck I needed at the end, the two associates sitting at the desk showed zero interest in helping me with my reservation at all. I reserved a truck 2 week in advanced to move out the weekend my lease was supposed to end. I get to the location. Provide the information for my reservation and guy at the front desk informs me they don’t available the truck I reserved. I need to call “the number on the website so they can check out other locations for trucks available”. Him and his co-worker sitting next to him showed zero effort in helping me at all. I explained to them I needed the truck that day because my lease ends the next day. How come is possible I made a reservation 2 weeks ahead and instead of notify me, at least as a simple courtesy via email, text, phone call, (yes you can use emails to update your customer on the status of their order instead of spamming my inbox with ridiculous marketing email I don’t care about). Their only answer to me was “it’s end of the month. Everyone is moving”. I decided to call customer service under the promise according to the guy associate “they are really responsive, they’ll pick you your call really quick”. 20 mins later and 2 calls disconnected where i didn’t even got the chance to speak to a representative, I come back inside with the only idea release the wrath of 100 karens on them. I’m not sure how the owner of the branch got involved because I barely opened my mouth to spit out fire when he was already in front of me getting my information and 5 mins later he gave me the keys of one of the trucks. Thanks to him, I don’t rate the service poor because he was diligent to complete my order but both the associates at the front desk and your phone customer service are a nightmare.

Comment: What’s the point of having an app for picking up and returning if you still have to go inside and wait forever for the front desk. They also were late 30 minutes when picking up the truck because they were late to opening up the shop.EDIT: We wait an hour in line. THEN they let us know that the card reader is broken and only accept cash and there is no ATM onsite. So we had to drive down the street for an ATM which took another 30 minutes. This is ridiculous.

Comment: I made a reservation with a third party U-Haul dealership, United Mailboxes on Friday (6/26), and unfortunately, it was a disaster. I decided to reserve a rental truck with U-Haul of Crenshaw and I wholeheartedly recommend this location to anyone who wants a seamless pickup and drop off experience. It took five minutes to pick up our rental truck at 7:05 am on Saturday (6/27). Roy, the general manager, was quick and efficient — not to mention, friendly — and his colleague (can’t remember his name) was as well. The rental was newer than the ones I’ve driven in the past and I had zero issues with it. I dropped off the truck at 11:45 am and my drop off experience was efficient and a great end to the start of my move... get it? Anyway, it was an experience that exceeded my expectations and I will be renting from them in the future!

Comment: When I got my rental online, it showed me one price and it showed that I was able to return the van to a different location.When I got to the place to pick up my rental, the lady helping me was very rude and unprofessional. She did not want to answer my questions and told me if I didnt want to pay that then I could leave and not take the truck in the most unprofessional manner. She told me I will be charged $300 if I took the truck back to another location and did not bother to try to help me in any way.

The truck was much more up to date than I remember the trucks being in the past. I liked that the cab of the pick up was roomy. The dolly we rented was good. The return was easy. The staff was efficient. Overall a positive experience.

Comment: DONT RENT FROM THIS U-HAUL. TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT AND CUSTOMER SERVICE. This was the worst experience Ive ever had at U-haul!!! Rented a truck with a ramp because I needed it to unload the items I was moving. At the pickup location, after we loaded everything, the ramp wont go back into the truck. Called U-haul roadside assistance and was told I needed to wait until a repair truck came, which would take 2 hours. I asked if I could get another truck because I had hired people to help me move. They told me it was against policy. 2 hours later the repair guy gets the ramp back in the truck but we were advice not to take it out again. At this point I need to remove everything from the truck and my workers have return home. So Im out $300 and I headd back to the U-haul to return the truck. The manager TRACY isnt there but they put a hold on my account until she can return in 20 mins and call me back. She calls 4 hours later and when I dont pick up, she charges my account anyway. I call back the next day and she isnt there again. So I call back on Monday and, with attitude, she tells me the truck was fine and implies that Im lying. I tell her its on record, because I went thru U-haul roadside assistance, and she says Ill have to check and call you back. 3 days later I call and she LIES and says she called me, but I didnt pick up. No missed calls or messages on my phone. Then she says she can refund the cost of the truck but not the gas, insurance, or reimburse me for my workers. She then gets an attitude when I tell her this is unacceptable. This whole scenario is completely absurd, now Im dealing with corporate.

Comment: The general manager/owner was very rude. We wanted our hitch removed and they had told us when we got it installed that it would be $30 to remove. When we got there the lady who had a badge that said owner, was smoking outside. We told her what we needed and she started laughing loudly sarcastically. My husband and I were very confused. After she questioned us for 5 min why we needed the hitch removed, she made is wait while she attended other costumers that got there after and then she told us it would be at least $65 -$85. At this point we just walked away.
