I went to the store to book a truck. They guy rudely declined and said he didn’t have any for the time slot I preferred.I called hotline, and the call center guy booked the truck I wanted, for the time slot I preferred with no fuss.I suggest future customers to book online rather than go to the store (especially this one).
Everything went great when the truck was picked up and dropped off. Both employees who I came in contact with were excellent, provided all necessary information and answered all my questions. I had a busy hectic day and was anxious about any troubles arising throughout and this was the easiest smoothest part of it all. Plus I didnt even make a reservation! I just walked in and they had something readily available and handled everything promptly.I really appreciated how simple everything was. Great job!
The customer service is excellent at this location. We went to a Detroit location, the service was terrible. We had a reservation that they could keep. They just didnt care.Although, the Farmington Hills location, had our reservations, they service was excellent, the truck was clean. I will recommend this location to anyone and we will use it myself again .
They seem rather unorganized inside the store itself. The man who helped us when we picked up our rental was rude and not personable. When I wanted to write down that there were big scratches on the front bumper prior to us driving, he tried to talk me out of it. The woman who helped us when we returned the van however was very nice and helpful.
Apparently the companys whole system is down, so they have no way to confirm reservations or not. And no way to rent any vehicles out, because they cant see whether there are reservations, though they know every truck they have is reserved. Will never return to this location, or recommend anyone utilize this location. The woman who was meant to assist us never offered any solution to help, even though we asked several times, what can we do about this.
Called and nobody in the store answered so we were forwarded to a line from somebody not in the store. He said there were trucks available and in store IN FARMINGTON and they would more likely than not be able to cut us a better deal than he could on the phone, we got up and went immediately to the store and nicely walked in and referenced our conversation we had with the man on the phone and in the store the employees were snobby and seemed to find it funny they were out of trucks when we thought they weren’t. I tried asking if one got booked in the last 10 minutes since we had spoken to the guy and all they could say is “maybe” and “I don’t know.” They were laughing and seemed entertained by our confusion when one of the men said “nope no trucks at all” and basically refused to speak with us anymore. We then called back the number we had initially spoken to the man on and spoke to a woman who told us that store had been sold out for a while. So between the idiot on the phone and the rude employees in the store I’m less than impressed. I work with picky customers on the daily and I’m more than capable of smiling and being polite, even when we can’t help the customer. If I was a manager here I’d focus on your employees bad attitudes, it’s a bad look.
I would have given them 5 stars until I got my bill...I dropped the truck off after hours and left my blanket in the truck, instead of calling me about it they decided to charge me a $25 cleaning fee. This is not quality customer service to me and I will not be returning.
Well hmmmmm where to start. I hate U haul i was once moving from loveland ohio and reserved a truck. They didnt have it so they sent me to another location to fetch my own trruck. I called corporate they gave me $20 off i was very mad considering i was hauling my pets in that truck. More than half of them died because it took so long to get the truck set up to transport them. I moved 1500 miles away before and never had a problem ,till that day i had to wait half a day to get a replacement truck. A high up executive said he was being more than fair by giving $20 off. What an offer/insulte. This is a picture with some of my pets.
This place has very little customer service knowledge, as they made me drive with my father there and back to drop off my car for a simple hitch install, which they couldnt complete because they dont have a grinder to remove a rusted bolt. before that I had to drive there and back with my mother to be told they had no mechanics in the shop and to come back. so, all in all its been 8 drives of an hour for my family with out them even admitting their fault or offering their apologies.
Plenty of trucks available, but the two times I rented from this location I received really old and bouncy trucks. I dont like that they put a dolly and moving blankets in the back that you dont order and can not move out of your way unless you want to pay for the use of them. They get in your way and take up available space in the back.
3 different issues I feel should be addressed.1) we waited in line for over an hour just to buy a few boxes. Even though the line was nearly out the door, there was only one person actually helping customers at the counter. When we FINALLY reached the desk, the lady on the second computer decided she could help us because we were only buying boxes. Shed been sitting her computer not helping anyone for at least 20 minutes and waited till we were already in the process of purchasing the items to try to help.2) on a previous visit earlier last week, the lady there working had her (probably 4 or 5 year old) daughter with her, and had to spend more time wrangling her daughter than she spent helping the customers. There were 3 customers in the store, including myself, and it still took nearly 45 minutes just to buy boxes. The cops were actually called because the kid hit the emergency call button, which only took a few extra minutes to sort out, but still. Im not necessarily annoyed by the cashier, as she was actually nice once I got up there, but if youre at work, you should be able to focus on work.3) the customer ahead of me had called ahead to make sure she had access to her storage box. She waited for over an hour to find out that they hadnt actually gotten it out for her, and when she tried to get answers from the guy with owner on his name tag, he told her he was just a customer service rep and couldnt help her. She asked him to call the person who could, and he refused to leave a message, and told her that theyd call her when they figured it out. He refused to write down any sort of reminder to try to call on the issue again, and told the customer she could just call back. First off, if hes not the owner, his name tag shouldnt say owner. Second, if he is the owner, he needs to own up and actually help the customers. Third, telling a customer they should just call back after theyd already called to set it up AND showed up at the agreed time is just plain rude and unhelpful.I will be taking my business to literally any other uhaul store. I tried giving this one a decent shot, but the wait times and the unhelpfulness of the staff just makes me never want to come back.
Poor customer service.Poor quality install on vehiclebefore me and they were three hours late for my appointment and they did not communicate well with me or the call center. I made a 7am appointment online for a trailer hitch installation over a week in advance. I got a confirmation email stating that someone from the farmington hills store would call me shortly to confirm the appointment. Three days later I still hadnt heard from them. So I try to call the store and I end up talking to someone in a call center who tells me that the hitch has been ordered and that someone will call. Day before appointment they finally call. I couldnt answer the phone so they tell me in a voicemail that the installer wont be in until 10am and that my appointment is now at 10am. So I try to call them back and I get sent to the call center again. Call center tells me the store still can do it at 7am. Day of appointment I showed up at 7am and I get told they cant do it until 10am because their installer wont be in until 10 am. I came back at 10am and then was told they had another vehicle in front of me that they had to fix first after it came back because of electric problems with their hitch install. The tech told me I could wait but he didnt know how long it would be or I could reschedule the appointment so I waited. I waited because my particular hitch was a discontinued item that had to be special ordered and at that point I decided that if I was going to reschedule I was going to walk out with my hitch and have it installed some where else. I was told this was going to take less than three hours. Its been four hours since my originally scheduled appointment of 7am and they havent even taken my keys yet. Manager just told me that they have the parts ordered for the car in front but I will have to reschedule. I just walked out with my hitch and a 50% partial refund so I can afford to pay someone else to install it.
Not helpful. Bad customer Service.U-Haul Farmington Hills doesnt know business. I made a reservation at their location and the computer system routed my truck to a much further location without telling me. Instead of helping me out, the guy only pointed out that I must not have been paying attention. Thats called bad customer service. SO instead of giving them my money, Ill just wait to use my buddys truck.
Owner went above and beyond to provide me excellent customer service. He made sure the job was done right and above my high standards. I had a Towing Hitch installed on my Jeep Wrangler Saturday. It took a lot longer than expected but they were busy and did all they could to make it happen. My suggestion is to drop your car off if you get a hitch installed because it can take a good amount of time. The owner got it done and made sure everything was perfect. I was very happy.
I just wanted to take the time to comment that the General Manager, Erick made sure to go out of his way to make sure that I had all my wiring properly installed. He kept me informed during the whole process while I waited. When he was done, he made sure to mention to me about additional parts that I happened to need so I went and grabbed some lunch and my laptop (to keep myself busy while he worked so hard) and I am here now! I appreciate all his hard work, even when all of his employees were/are currently struggling with no internet...which is definitely making things a bit more difficult for them. This is my 2nd time getting a hitch installed. First time, the whole thing was installed (hitch + wiring) and back again with another car (wiring only) I appreciate all the time he took to make sure my car is not only tow approved (safe) and ready!
CALLED IN THE AM TO SCHEDULE A REPAIR FOR MY TRAILER LIGHTS. THEY TOLD ME TO GO IN AFTER 1PM. I GO IN AFTER 2PM AND NO ONE, EVEN THE ASSISTANT MANAGER KNOWS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT! NOW THEY TELL ME TO COME BACK AFTER 3PM, I GO IN AT 4PM....GUESS WHAT?!?! THE MANAGER SAYS THAT THEY DONT EVEN DO THAT TYPE OF WORK!! LET ME REMIND YOU THAT THEY DID THE WIRING TO MY CAR FOR THE TRAILER TO BEGIN WITH!!! HIRE THE RIGHT HELP AND DONT MISINFORM THE CUSTOMERS!!!
I had a trailer hitch installed here and it... couldve gone better. The hitch is fine but my car now makes a rattling noise from somewhere in the area of the hitch install. Since this is a non-standard install (Chevy Volts arent necessarily supposed to have a hitch) Ill give them the benefit of the doubt. The other issue was that they apparently had a hitch in stock that was mis-labeled (or something like that) because after disassembling my car for a few hours (and me waiting the whole time) they couldnt install the hitch and just put the car back together. They ordered the right hitch and I brought the car in again and the hitch installed without issue. To their credit, they waived a good portion of the cost for my inconvenience. However, I marked down because the whole process took a few weeks. Its a good thing I wasnt in a rush (it was just for a bike rack) or this review would have been much more scathing.
Will never use the U-Haul company again. Had issues with my reservation being cancelled father U-Haul customer service then had a hard time picking up a truck that was reserved over a week in advance couldnt return the truck to the original location that I packed no one had any straight answers of why everything went wrong with our reservation and didnt have any ways to help us out
I was told by the call center that my Ubox was stored at this location and when I arrived to pick it up both workers had no knowledge about me coming to pick it up. Instead of looking for the box they shrugged their shoulders and said there was nothing they could do because neither of them were certified to use the loading equipment. I was told to wait 4 hours for the certified worker to return to the store. I was frustrated, but at this point I figured I would wait because I live 45 minutes from this location. After waiting all this time the worker returns to tell me that my Ubox is not at this location and is actually located somewhere else that is 30 minutes back in the other direction. This could have been solved earlier in the day if the 2 lazy workers who were playing on their phones actually decided to get up and do their jobs. Instead they gave off an attitude like I was inconveniencing them by trying to find answers. A moving day that should have been completed in 2-3 hours turned into a 8 hour moving day because of this location.
Hitch Installs Gone Bad!We made an appt for our van to have a hitch installed. An hour in they called and said the bolt hole was stripped. Since the van never had a hitch prior, Im not sure how its stripped except for the hitch installer stripping it. I didnt have before pictures so didnt feel I could argue it. I took it to my mechanic and spent $100 for him to re-tap the bolt holes. We just took the van back in for a scheduled 8 am appt. When we dropped off, they told us it would be completed in a couple hours. After not hearing from them, I called at noon for an update. THEY HADNt EVEN STARTED IT YET!!! The hitch installers dont come in until 2pm. We needed the vehicle back before 2 so now we have to cancel again and not have a hitch. Hoping to save others the aggravation of dealing with this place. Its not worth it!!!
I received a Ubox from Florida that was suppose to be delivered to Westland Mi. First of all it ended up at this location.Often times when I call they have me on hold for an unusual amount of time. Also never authorized them to take reoccurring payments out of my account and each month they proceed to do so.I spoke with a representative yesterday who assured me that they wouldnt take the money out of my account and they still took the money.
Awful experience. I was contacted by this Uhaul location (Bobbie and Jennifer) 4 days before my move and was told that they are not able to deliver the U-box to my location since it does not fit their 26 foot truck. I tried to explain that there is another wide entrance and Ive seen U-boxes delivered here before but all in vain. Apparently they dont own/dont know how to use a forklift. They tried to convince my to get additional mover services and I shut them down. ABF delivered a Relocube with no hassle at the same price the next day.

2022-06-26The one star is for the Customer Service.I needed to purchase some brown wrapping paper and U-Haul has the best paper for the price. I was in the showroom for a while and even yelled in the back of the store for someone to assist me. When other people started arriving, an employee decided to one to grace us with his presence.I asked him a question about the paper and he replied SO rudely and just stared at me! He then was going to help the next person and I said, are you going to finish helping me? He just looked at me with a look that was very uncomfortable. He hesitated and finally let me purchase the paper.I understand about shortage of staff, but that doesnt mean this person had to be so rude.

2022-05-28LONG LINESI have rented from this place multiple times. They are great in that they have good inventory and never had an issue with the rentals. The problem that I encounter here every time is that they are severely short staffed. The same people that sit at the counters are also running back and forth from the parking lot and warehouse setting customers up with their rentals. Workers are good and helpful, but noticeably stressed. Lines are always very long!

2022-05-06Drove the truck under 20 miles, returned it with exactly as much gas it it as when I got it and was charged $26 for gas. Even if I didnt put any gas in it, it still wouldnt equal $26 to drive it 20 miles. Talked to the GM who said he would take care of it and nothing. Place is a scam, purposely says theres less gas in it when you get it and the charges whatever they want and you have NO say in it.

2022-07-22We called in specifically asked for towing capabilities, this location verified they had the size truck and towing we needed. We arrive and they don’t have the truck or trailer. The guy at the desk acted like it wasn’t his problem and pretty much blew us off. We run into problems like this every time we use UHaul.

2022-07-04They charged me an after hour fee of $20, but I returned the vehicle at 7 am when they are open. They also overcharged me for 4G of fuel, while when I received the vehicle, the tank was not fuel. Drove only 21 miles. Just really bad experience.

2022-03-03Bad customer service. I made a reservation and my reservation was sent to my daughters email. When I picked the truck up I was sent outside to find the truck it took five trucks and for me to go inside for someone to come out and find the location of the truck. I could not upload my pictures for mileage and equipment because I was never emailed the paperwork. Just given a receipt for my payment. Horrible Day

2021-11-19Bad costumer service. They didn’t acknowledge that I was waiting in the office with no one around for 10min. After they came out of the restroom. As they were connecting the trailer the complained about my shadow blocking the light, when it was clearly not my shadow, and their own, since they were standing in front of the light, I was going to offer a light l, then they started blaming me again.The worst part is they charged me for two days and a late fee. I called and told them I followed the directions online and left what I needed. They didn’t care, I told them I had pictures of when I returned it, and they can check the security camera. They told me they won’t do that. I called the headquarters number for customer service, they told me to not call the local stores, since they have to call them anyway. Turned out, the GPS location thought I was 80 miles from the drop off location, and they can see I returned it before my time on time. This location didn’t even care to talk to me, and wanted me to talk to a manager another day. They clearly don’t value our time. I received my refund from the main offices.

2021-08-16I called 5 times and it off those time, 2 times they hung up before saying hello. The 3 other times they just picked up the phone without saying anything. I drove up there to find out there literally wasn’t any customers in there.
