Comment: I was under a LOT of stress when I arrived at this location with personal family matters. I am a full-time caregiver to my Mom. In order to save money for her medical/insurance costs, we could not afford to pay for my storage up here anymore and I had only one day to empty it. I came into Uhaul with my friend to rent a truck for 24 hours to empty the storage area. Izzy, the CSR who helped us IMMEDIATELY saw that I was not in a good mental state and went ABOVE AND BEYOND by being courteous, empathetic and friendly by engaging me in conversation. Soon after, she took the time to show me available options for my budget and was honest about all fees (mileage, insurance, etc.) so I was cool with everything before signing the paperwork. Courtesy and good customer service these days are pretty bad. But this U-Haul location with its friendly and knowledgeable staff, good rates and superlative convoy of truck options are a MUST for your traveling/moving needs. I highly recommend them! - Neil

Comment: First, the truck wreaked like cigarettes when it was picked up. Second, the truck had a problem. It lagged and couldnt seem to go faster than 50, even when empty, and I assume the lag is why we had to dump almost $200 in gas into it. We did not get to our gig on time thanks to the truck having no power at all and our last truck was in a crappy condition as well. Dont think we will be using Uhaul for our business any longer.

The other truck we got reeked of cigarettes and had food on the floor, chips and a ranch dressing packet which I stepped on and got everywhere. This show me that that they don’t check their cars for cleanliness or maintenance. The AC also fell off.

As soon as I walked in she didn’t even let a few seconds go by without acknowledging me and inviting me over to her register so she can help me. She was very thorough, personable, enthusiastic and helpful. Around my 2nd time of doing it the manager of this establishment was upset that we called to try and pay and since they weren’t willing to accept our card once again. We went the mobile route . Well I guess he didn’t like that we still were trying to support the business because today 6/22 we tried to order and he had mobile order pickups removed .such a little ego should be fired.

Comment: This place DOUBLE CHARGES you. I had to go back and forth between the location manager, another location manager, and the regional manager to verify that they double-charged me. It took about a month to finally get the refund and even when I did, the manager begrudgingly gave the refund and was clearly upset.Heres what happened. I rented the U-Haul at the Concord location and agreed to return at the Hayward location. The Concord location told me to pay the cost upfront and any mileage I go over the limit would be charged at the Hayward location. That was fine with me.So, I drove to Hayward, drove a few more miles than expected, and informed the Hayward location. They charged the full cost, which included the cost I already paid, but they assured me that the first payment would disappear and the second charge would remain. Weeks passed and IT DIDNT. So, my statement showed that I paid $225 + $250. Thats wrong. It shouldve been $225 + $25. The final total is supposed to be $250, NOT $475.When I called the location managers, they kept trying to beat around the bush. Then later, they said the extra charge was because I didnt return the dollies. Luckily, I took a picture before I returned the U-Haul, which has a timestamp, and showed that I returned them all. I ended up contacting someone above them to express the mistake and thats when I finally got the refund.If you decide to use U-Haul, keep an eye on your credit card statement, they can easily double-charge and charge you for other things.

Comment: The booking process and pick up process were both incredibly frustrating and painful.I should have noticed these red flags before confirming and picked up my Penske reservation instead.I first went to the store to buy boxes and ask to make a reservation. The manager told me to go online which was incredibly off-putting. I made phone reservations and Once I changed the date of these reservations online I was up-charged. My original reservation was cancelled without my request.Truck was vandalized less than 1/4 mile from the store. roadside assistance and this store did the absolute least work to assist me. I waited for over 9 hours to get towed to the store and another 2 hours to get a hotel room. Meanwhile I was sitting outside of a hotel through the entire process. My pet was traumatized from being isolated in a carrier and truck for over 10 hours. I persistently expressed the urgency of the situation but nobody at the store or on the phone seemed to pay me any mind.They have stalled all day and night to do as little as possible to help and prolong the situation. Each time I call I need to explain myself again.They are making me unpack and reload another truck rather than rekeying the ignition and locks. They are not allowing me to remain in the hotel while this work is done.I was going to tow a UBOX trailer for an additional payment of $400, but I reached out to UBOX and they cancelled the trailer tow so now I am unable to recoup those funds.A reliable and customer focused company would heed the call sooner and understand the urgency of this type of request. It should only have taken a few hours maximum to secure me lodging while the situation is remedied (I was sitting right outside my hotel less than 1/4 mile from the uhaul store). Someone from the store should have had the courtesy to come by and help and/or secure me a room in the hotel where I was already parked. They suggested to wait in the lobby, which is insufficient for my animal who needs to have some freedom to move around. I expressed this urgency many times.Alas, the entire day has been burned because of lackadaisical customer service.Never using UHAUL again.

Comment: I scheduled online to get a tow hitch + wiring + installation. I made the appointment for the next day at 10:30 am. I called up the store a couple hours later at 6:15pm to make sure they had the parts in stock and it would work on my truck. It is a hour drive to the store so I didn’t want to waste the drive. They told me everything was good and even recommend a different ball hitch that would be cheaper and work the same.The next day I arrived at my appointment and they told me it would take 2 hours for my appointment. When I scheduled my appointment online I selected wait for vehicle which they confirmed in the store. They told me they would call me when my truck was ready and I walked over to a coffee shop to wait. I walked back to the store when 2 hours had passed and when I walked in the employees asked me if I had dropped off the Tacoma for the hitch job. I confirmed I had and they told me they did not have a part in stock to do the job and they were trying to source it.They told me that they had done the wiring on the truck and could get the hitch in later that day and if I could make it back at 10:30 am the next day they could do the install. They said they would not charge labor for the hitch install. I said okay and they refunded my card for the tow hitch + install but charged for the wiring.When you schedule the appointment online you have to pre pay. It charged me half hour labor for wiring and half hour labor for the hitch install. When I checked my receipt after I left they charged me for an hour of wiring install.Highly recommend to avoid this place. I tried so hard to avoid any issues and they failed to do there part.0/10 do not recommend

First when I went to pick up the uhaul no one was wearing mask, seems to me they didnt get the memo of covid 19. Second the guy only gave me 2 options to either drop off truck down the street or keep truck another 2 days. My contract was to leave it at same location I picked it up at. Third truck was dirty didnt even bother to clean it. It felt like some just dropped it off and handed to me. They can not say they cleaned it still had dolly and the pads in there. I didnt request none of that. Fourth when I went to go drop it off the place the guy said that was down the street which was a lie and they still charged me the miles. Fifth I wasnt able to check out truck because my phone did not recognize the location that I was in. Waste of my time. I have been trying to get a hold of management and still no luck. So I was owed 109.28 in return. I was told I would receive it 2-5 business days I never received it. I called after two weeks and asked about it. The entire transaction disappeared 👻 from my account. I never received my 109 dollars back.

Comment: A dumpster fire from start to finish. The staff are surly, uncommunicative and mean spirited, going so far as to close the window blinds in my face while I was asking for help. The truck I was assigned scared the bejesus out of me as the gear shift kept DOING things, like going into neutral instead of reverse, or lurching forward at random times. The brakes, needless to say, didnt work well either. Overall, I was overcharged well and above any expectation, considering I returned the vehicle on time, with more gas than Id received, and clean. Real classy, these people.

Comment: I can only speak for the phone customer service and the U-Box delivery service for this location, and those were top notch. Overall, the U-Box experience was great, delivering much faster than predicted (two weeks early!) and nothing was damaged during transit. Once the boxes arrived in Hayward, U-Haul was able to move up my delivery date without a problem. The customer service reps from this location were very communicative with me regarding delivery specifications, times, what was expected of me, etc. in the days preceding the delivery, and also on the pick-up day. They made every effort to work around a special request from me regarding pickup time and really exceeded my expectations with how well they adhered to their estimate. Ive already recommended the U-Box services to many, and will conduct further business with this location for any moving needs in the future.

I was told it would be delivered to redwood City initially and never told about the extra fee Id have to pay just because I didnt make a third reservation initially.

This is first funny part why u haul not check the day before I check in? At least they can call me or give a message. Thats fine, then I call customer service, they schedule me another truck at 1 pm, and before that I checked with Anthony again and again, he just told your truck not there. Until I look around my self and I found the exact truck number as on my u haul app. Then I talked to him, my car is just over there and I also show him the app. He just ignored and said that truck not for you, I dont know why they assign you this truck then just run away. Its already 5 hours passed, I still there with no help. Until I found one guy called Suha, he looks like very polite. Then I do the last try, and he also walked to Anthony and asked the question, and Anthony still ignored. At that time, I felt so helpless and I even thinking about call 911. Fortunately Suha had sympathy on me and said let me check for you, one minute, he back and said Sir, thats your truck.And he immediately help me get the car in 5 mins. Thanks Suha. Another funny part, U-Haul will charge delay return 150 dollars but they will only give the waiting customer 50 dollars credit. Which means when customer face some issue, they earn 100 dollars. And I wait 5 hours and get 50 which means my rate is funny 10 dollars per hour. As u-haul charge customer 1.2 dollars per mile, customer should also charge u-haul 1 dollar for every minute delay:)

Comment: This is the 2nd time I rented from this location; I tried to AVOID to rent in this location; Very bad customer service; The guy claimed he is the store manager: Kris Naidu; But He is the poorest manager: I called customer services center and the lady said I could return the Trailer late without charging me for on extra day; Then Kris was very RUDE, not friendly at all; He repeated he would charge one extra day for one hour late; I told him I have been Uhaul customer for 6 years; No other stores charged me for one extra day for the late due to the traffic; He foolished their customers; He wanted to call the police to arrest their customers;Very poor customer service; Every employee was lying;My invoice indicated that this invoice was printed at 2:00 PM, but they put the return time: 1:45 PM, which is 15 minutes early by renting a day for 24 hours;They did not check you out immediately, asked you to pull your vehicle to certain spot, waiting other customers to leave, etc, then asked you to check out, and saying you are late for 40 minutes, we have to charge you one extra day;Why should I pay one extra day for not using their Uhaul Trailer at all;

Comment: Bad experience! I scheduled to pickup my truck on 12/3/17 at 8 AM, which was an off-hours self pick up. The website said the truck should be ready starting from 7am. But when I arrived at 8am, the truck had not been assigned. I called the number provided but nobody answered. I then called uhauls customer service which ended up pushing me around different representatives and provided essentially no help. I had scheduled my movers to come at 8:30 but my truck was still nowhere to find! Had to call the movers and apologize to them. I finally found an employee there but she didnt know why the truck had not been assigned either, and couldnt assign me one for this order. Eventually I had to redo the order but change it to pick up in store. And I didnt receive any apology during the entire process.
