Comment: Whenever I want to reserve something specific, if its not available at this location, I adjust my schedule, instead of trying to find a location with what I need. Ive had some bad experiences at some U-Haul locations. But not this one. Uhaul of Ventura, on Thompson Blvd.**UPDATE** 05/23/2024This place continues to amaze me. Michael & Greg just go above and beyond, and these two guys and people like them are the reason that I keep coming back to this Uhaul location in particular. I dont know who the owner of this branch is, but I hope that they know just how valuable these two guys are to their business.

Comment: I made appointment for the electrical to be installed on trailer hitch for 10:30am and was told it would be about an hour. Told me they would call when done. Went for a long walk at the beach came back at noon my car still sitting in same spot and they hadn’t even started working on it. Took my keys and told them I would take it somewhere else. They didn’t even apologize. Rude and terrible customer service. Common sense even.

Comment: My experience at Thompson Boulevard U-Haul was excellent. I rented a trailer and also had the tail lights/brake lights wiring repaired and updated. The work was done right and the check in/return process was smooth and efficient. They had me through all the hoops quickly and on my way.

Comment: Uhaul as a company has many challenges to deal with that we as customers are completely unaware of. After many hours of research ( It was a long drive cross country. ha) I am very thankful this company’s product and service that it offers, is still even around.1. With some years being worse than others, in the past 30-40 years people have been generally leaving California. The people coming to California are not bringing Moving equip. They are immigrants coming from South of the border, India (Tech Co.), and Chinese (SF) among a splash of others. So what happens is Uhaul rents a truck one way let’s say to Ohio or Colorado. That truck is for the most part gone. How many people move from Ohio to Ca? The full price of their house wouldn’t put a down payment here. And due to government regulations of contract workers, (They would use college students moving back home years ago) there is little to no way to get that truck back to Ca. So this is quiet the obstacle to overcome. So much so that every other rental truck company (Ryder Penske Budget etc) has failed. . Moving sucks, I’m doing it right now. But, just as with electronic stores, drug stores, recycling locations etc. Years and years of taxation, government regulation, consumers wanting the lowest price but ant to be paid top dolla has killed businesses here in the U,s. Uhaul has hung on. And I would say they do a pretty damn good job .

Comment: I made an appointment for a local move in Ventura renting a truck from the Thompson Ave store in person. The staffperson in store was professional and helpful. I made a reservation for Sunday (to be picked up Saturday afternoon)HOWEVER, when I needed to make a change and called - I have been on hold for over 30 minutes yesterday with no answer, and 10 minutes today (so far). I tried to go on line to make adjustments and cannot locate my reservation at all!Today Christine did answer the call and is trying to locate my reservation. She placed me on hold 3 minutes.....It is difficult for me to stay on hold so long since I also work a phone line; I had to place her on hold - only to be disconnected.Next time I will likely go with another company that is easier to reach.I have used UHaul for years (previous military), but unfortunately will be looking elsewhere when needing moving services again.so very disappointed!

Comment: Ive rented a trailer from this location twice and good experience both times. They made a mistake in the billing the first time but promptly fixed. Took off a charge the second time for pads I didnt use. Staff friendly and efficient. Ill keep using this location for trailers.

Comment: Scheduled a hitch install 9 days in advance. I arrive on scheduled install date and there is no mechanic there to install hitches, even worse, my parts wont be in for at least 10 days. They never called me to inform me of delay issues, so I wasted time and gas going there. Other option in Ventura, I suggest using them and avoid this store.

Comment: They people are very slowing and rude.We came here at 10:30 to turn in the truck and they are still not getting to us. it is now 11:12 and now theyre probably going to Marked late for turning it in cuz it was supposed to be turned in at 10:30. I am very disappointed with their organization. They have no organization nor do they have parking for others to pick up people that drop off the truck. Will never use this place again. PS they dont sanitize the trucks you might want to wipe down before use.

Comment: Uhaul as a company is broken, an employee at this location said to me. The locations dont work together or communicate and the corporate office is disconnected from the branches.I scheduled an appointment for a trailer hitch install with a weeks notice. Today, the day before the appointment, the called and said the will not have the part. They were not apologetic and did not offer me any options.The same thing happened last year when I went to get a hitch installed on a different vehicle at the Oxnard location.Stop using U-Haul until they can meet basic standards of service.

Comment: Rented a truck for moving from Thousand Oaks to Ventura, unexpectedly needed it an extra day right b4 they closed, handled it like champs. Very reasonable prices (when was the last time you heard THAT comment?) One minor criticism, the Staff could learn to make eye contact with customers, and for Gods sakes corporate, it should 100% absolutely be company wide NO CELL PHONES ON THE JOB!

Went in to rent a U-Haul the Hispanic lady at the counter told me they didn’t have the truck I requested and the closet truck was about 35 miles north so I booked that truck after I booked it I get a call saying Santa Barbara location didn’t have the truck and come to find out the store I was at in fact the store I was at had the truck. So after wasting half my day going in circles due to lack of employeeKnowledge I go to rent the truck and they tell me the i can’t rent the truck with a cash deposit because their manager says there are to many thief’s in the area...so once again I have to contact U-Haul directly and get it worked out and finally get the truck... the employees at this location are very cold and rude and and have no idea what they are doing! NOBODY DESERVES TO BE STEREOTYPED OR TREATED LIKE TRASH!!! BEWARE AND RENT FROM ANOTHER COMAPY STAY AWAY FROM UHAUL AND THIS LOCATION!! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!

Comment: I had to write a review because I received such amazing service the other day by I believe his name was Bill (had long black hair) and Christopher. They were very nice and extremely helpful. Unfortunately me and my family had to move out of our apartment in Ventura and move to Santa Barbara but the 101 freeway was closed, which meant a normal 30 minute drive turned into a 5 hour drive because it was the only way to get to SB with the 101 closure. I dreaded having to pay all those extra fees because of the road closure. The guys worked it out and helped me save a bit of money. Im extremely grateful to them. I wish more companies had workers like them.

Comment: Im in the Navy and move frequently and always use U-Haul. These guys are better than the rest though. They really care about taking care of their customers. After someone attempted to break into my van on my most recent move, they took care of replacing the broken door lock even though I didnt have insurance. Additionally I didnt realize the truck had a return time (I thought it was just a return day) but they took care of me. All of these things were done without me telling then I was military. Like I said, they really try to take care of their customers and I will be returning to these guys for my next move.
