So I loveeee this place! Firstly, the staff is very nice and the owner supports the community. Even though lines can get long, you dont feel rushed. The food is very affordable, they clearly understand our pockets. Then theres the food. I ordered ramen chicken curry , its the type of food that makes your eyes roll back. You get to add all of your garnishes. I also tried the loaded wontons and that tasted soo good. I cant wait to come back and try more foods!
This place is amazing. The food was absolutely delicious. The menu was easy to navigate and the staff were super friendly. Myself and another customer had food allergies and the staff answered all of our questions and made sure we knew what was fried where. They are vegan and vegetarian friendly, which can be hard to find. The restaurant is small and so is the parking lot, which wasn’t a big deal to me. We did notice they will be closed 4/14-4/30/18 for spring cleaning but will be open again in May.
Hidden gem in such a small town in MI. It was a perfect mid stop between Ann Arbor and Chicago. The menu was simple to understand but the flavors were complex and fully developed. We wanted to try everything on the menu, but had to really restrain ourselves. I had udon noodle in pork katsu broth with pork shoulder, kimchi, bean sprout, seaweed as stuffings. They let me try ALL the soup base and still gave me a generous portion of everything for such a reasonable price! I make my own port tender and it tastes just as moist and flavorful. My husband had pork belly with curry and ramen noodle. His was so good and the pork belly wasnt too oily. Wish we had more room in our belly, but thatll motivate us to come back. The room was small, but smelled amazing with roasted garlic. Even at 2 pm, it was still crowded. I think why people would be frustrated if they cant find a place to seat and eat your yummy noodle. The owner was so nice to the kids who wanted to eat pizza and brough pizza from outside and even gave them free juice!
Um yes.... you will never think of Ramen the same. The staff was great. Had the pleasure of listening in on the owner talk food with a customer and you can hear the passion she has for it in her voice and you can taste it in her food. Get the loaded wontons.Update: a year later and the food and service is still amazing. You won’t find anything like this anywhere else.
Great ramen place in BC. They have great selection of items on the menu. We had ramen bowls. Tge flavors were fantastic. The portions were huge. The staff was friendly and courtious. They have a small sit down area inside. The service is quick and can get busy in the afternoon. I would give this place 5 stars but two things really i missed was 1. It was not in order. I get it. It was busy. But I expect it to be little cleaner. 2. There was no boba tea. I could live with my 1st complaint but 2nd is unacceptable. I saw photos on reviews and was excited to see they did not have any.
The best food here. I love this place & the new location is gorgeous. However, they are temporarily closed at the moment, FYI(01-11-22). Which is understandable with the ongoing pandemic and supply chain shortages. Check their Facebook page for the most up to date information.
Great food, friendly staff, reasonable prices. Unami is a tiny restaurant but dont let its size fool you the food served here is amazing quality. The menu is simple written on a chaulk board. Choose a noodle type, a sauce and a meat. Sides, appetizers, and deserts are also available. The staff loved giving out samples of the sauces.Love this restaurant cant wait to go back.
Had such a wonderful first (and second) experience here that I had to write a review. We dined in the first time and we were very happy with service, pricing and the food! So, so good! You are definitely getting your moneys worth here. The second time we ordered, we did takeout. They packaged up our food with care and it was ready on time. Very polite staff and accommodating. What else can I say! Hope this gem stays in town for as long as possible!
The best Vietnamese/Thai mix of food Ive ever had! I built my own bowl, veggie noddles, curry and shrimp, as well as a ramen/chicken egg roll! Everything was so fresh and tasted soooo good. I was driving through town from Washington, DC, so was happy to find it! If this restaurant was in DC, there was be a two hour wait - people would go crazy for this!
I love ramen- I can eat ramen all day, only issue was not having enough vegetables as toppings. Ramen is a mixture of broth, protein (meat), the sauces and the vegetables. It’s also usually topped with egg, which wasn’t an option. Overall it was good, I think I’ll have to try other flavors next time! (I got the miso broth with chicken)
Great little gem in Battle Creek.Clearly they love to cook and serve good food.My pork bao (buns fried and then filled with pork, veggies, sauce) were excellent. The bun was crispy on the outside and chewy (as youd expect) on the inside. Fillings delightful. Great idea to fry the bun!!I wasnt overly impressed with the Pork Tonkotsu with ramen noodles and veggies (of my choice). Partly I think the noodles, pre-cooked, were placed in the bowl cold and then broth added on top. Cold veggies as well (not that I expect those to be hot) meant that the soup wasnt really hot by the time it got to me. Also, not nearly enough broth; which also may have contributed to it cooling off too fast. Broth lacked deapth in my opinion as well.HOWEVER, it is clearly all really good quality. I love the selection, and the service was great. I will be back. Thank you for being you!
This little slice of heaven has thee most amazing food the owner is super nice and she kills it with every week with something new on the menu. Love love love this place. If you come to Battle Creek and down find this place for lunch your missing out 5⭐ deserving of every one.
I ve been looking for a good noodle shop and happened upon this place with a couple of friends. We all ordered something different, and all unanimously agreed it was amazing. I had rice noodles, brisket pho broth and brisket. Delicious! My friends went back to California, but Ill be back enough times to make up for them.
Amazing food and amazing service! The staff is very energetic all around and does their best to help with any questions. We spent about $10/person on food and another $5/ person getting bubble tea! The coconut or Chai bubble tea are delicious and come highly recommended.
25 minutes to get one to go bowl while staff made multiple, large to go orders for customers that werent there. Given the wrong bag and drove 30 minutes home as silly me assumed a simple order wouldnt be entirely wrong. Avoid until they get it together unless you have lots of time and live nearby.Edit: they have a dedicated expediter now. There were several people in front of me this time but the wait was shorter. Im really glad its sorted, the food is 5 stars.
It was my first time here and the portions are generous! There was a mistake made during ordering with the prices and after I had paid they discovered it and refunded the money. Honest people working here!! Also, my daughter who is very picky did not like her food and they brought us something else free of charge. Very nice!!
Saw the reviews and decided to see if the place lived up to all of the hype. We were here overnight to hit the casino while on vacation and this was a first for us going to a place focused on ramen.Let me just say that the ramen egg rolls were off the chain. I was worried about the shrimp being rubbery but delightfully surprised at how soft and delicious they were. The Korean burrito was everything that people made it out to be. The ramen was equally delicious and was very nice surprise. The staff were friendly, helpful, and very efficient. Just a great place to try and well worth the drive to come back and visit again. We live four hours away from here and we plan to return.
Really good food, friendly staff, and really cool concept! Love being able to pick and mix and match different combinations, Its really nice to find an actually good ramen place here in battle creek. The inside is very pretty as well and has a great atmosphere. My only issue is that it would be nice if there were a few pre-made choices as well or if the staff would help suggest pairings, (I want to be clear they were super nice and helpful, just didnt explain or suggest when I mentioned it was my first time there and wasnt sure what goes with what) I dont know a lot about what goes well together when it comes to making the ramen myself so feel a little pressure and worried trying to order, everything turned out great but it would be cool if either staff or some sort of sign would give suggestions if you are confused, maybe common pairings on a picture menu in the wall or something.
By far one of the absolute worst Ramen places I have ever tried in my life. I ordered pork Tonkatsu which is typically a milky type broth with some very nice seasonings however what was presented was a very bland pork broth at best very much resembling the flavor packet from ramen. My wife ordered their special of the week which was a ginger noodles and barbecue pork spare ribs. The sauce that was basted on these ribs was an edible to say the least tasting very much like spaghetti sauce mixed with sweet-and-sour yes it was that bad if not worse. I am going out of my way to write reviews everywhere I possibly can because the restaurant was that bad if you feel like spending forty dollars drive over to Kalamazoo and order something that was actually made correctly oh and get what you actually ordered. If you feel like staying local to Battle Creek go somewhere else go anywhere else and save yourself the headache of one of the absolute worst Asian dishes in town.
Wow. We can’t get enough of this place!!! Our favorite is the curry bowl with brisket or the loaded wontons with brisket.Such great and friendly service too!!We were eating and one of the staff looked over and saw we could use some napkins and brought some to us. Such initiation! Great job Umami Ramen!!! We tell everyone about you.
Very creative food experience.Good service, the food was good, 4 stars for quality, not authentic Ramen, more like Asian fusion... Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese all thrown together, go here with that in mind. Good food just dont go expecting it to be a genuine ramen shop. (Perhaps Im a bit picky, Ive have been to real ramen shops in Japan)Will visit again, thanks for a flavorful experience.
The food here is top 2 in Battle Creek at least in my opinion. And the customer service is usually top tier to match, except for todays visit. I will explain.I was going in to pick up an order for my dad and I, placed by my dad earlier this morning. I get to the restaurant and enter through the pick up door on the right side of the building.I was promptly greeted by the woman whom I believe to be the general manager and I try to speak with her about my order. I seemed to either not be heard or completely ignored by the woman who greeted me.Anyway I stand at the counter for a couple of minutes and she calls over some people in the ordering line to help them not seeming to notice me. I stood there for a few more minutes before going into the main line and asking about my order. My dad seemed to have put in the order for later than intended. But the gentleman who helped me out at the register seemed to have a hard time hearing me and didnt see my order. I understand that it was a little loud in there and I was wearing my mask so some things may have been lost in the mix.I admit Im nitpicking a little but here but to be completely ignored by the general manager for something as simple as a take out order seems a little odd to me.Tl:Dr I was there to pick up an order and I got ignored by the general manager
If you havent been you are missing out. If you arent a fan of ramen or pho there are SO MANY choices, fried wonton, curry, eggrolls etc. Everything is made right in front of you and is insanely delicious. Theyre my go-to when my family is sick. Order some pho extra spicy and it clears us right up!Very friendly and knowledgeable cashier, the cooks are always smiling and the owner is right in there working alongside everyone else.
Stopped by Umami the other day for the first time in their new location. We got curried shrimp with Zoodles and Ramen with Miso broth and Tofu. The food was amazing as always. Their broth is flavorful and we really enjoy the fresh toppings especially the house made kimchi and seaweed. The korean hot sauce is also great on everything. As usual, the place was packed with folks who were excited to get their amazing food. There is not a dining area right now and all the space is open to allow social distancing while you wait. The new space is nice- bigger and more open with nice, clean bathrooms. The food assembly space is much bigger to allow a lot more staff to prepare food. The staff was still smiling and friendly as before. I highly recommend this place.
Absolutely love this place!! The chicken and curry is my fave, but everything is good. They are always busy, but super busy at lunch, we try to get there early and beat the long line! Some dont enjoy the community seating, but I love it and have gotten to chat with some fun people. The owner is very kind and friendly and when its not super busy shes always mingling. I highly recommend this place!
The food is amazing and the menu is easy to understand. I had the spicy tomato curry with pork belly and a shrimp egg roll. The menu has so much great thing to try. The staff is so helpful and friendly. Overall a great experience and worth the trip. Now I need to figure out what to order next.
Very unique food for the area. Everything I have gotten is great. You get to customize your ramen. Several choices of noodles, broth, meat, sauces, and toppings all of very high quality. The seating is not the greatest since the building is small. I normally get mine to go. The portions are huge and will leave you stuffed. The employees and owner are very nice, and make the experience even better. Get the pork belly it will change your life.
The food, the staff, the concept are all exceptional! I have eaten here so frequently that many of the employees know me by name and I have NEVER once been disappointed. The flavor profiles and quality ingredients are beyond delicious and I truly appreciate their use of locally sourced products. What a wonderful blessing it is to have such an amazing restaurant in our community!
Awesome place. Its like a Subway, but with noodles. Pick you noodles, your broth and a protein (gluten free and vegetarian options available) then top it off with garnishes (and there are lots to choose from) and enjoy. It was delicious and the staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our experience greatly. Would recommend and will definitely go back...many times.
Well I found this place on Google and decided to go try something new. So I grabbed up my daughter and headed out. So we were a little nervous at first because it hard to find new places with good food and friendly people. So when we got there my daughter got excited because of all the beautiful art all around. We live in a small town and you dont see art like that. The only art we get is little Jimmy drawing on his fence and its not that good. So anyways there I was walking into this wonderful little place with high expectations of some great food. So after a short wait in line it was our turn. Yay I was so hungry. now let me tell you it was well worth the wait. First order your noodles. Second was the broth. Wow there have several things to pick from and they let you try some so you get just what you want. Third was the meat. Yeah I got the best pork belly I every had. So yummy. Then you get to top it with all kinds of goody. So after all that you get a topper. Finally time to sit down and try the new place. All I could say was golly it was amazing. The best ramen I have had. Will definitely be going and glad I went there. Great place!!!
Best Ramen I’ve ever had. All the ingredients are fresh and full of flavor! I am vegan and have never been more pleased. The tofu is perfection. I love the miso, and the curry. Even better the next day! All very authentic! Not to mention the small restaurant gives an at home feel, where you can sit at the table with other people if you are a people person. The staff is amazing and very helpful. I couldn’t say enough great things about it. I only wish they were open more days of the week! And had a restaurant in Kalamazoo as well, out of convenience, but the 45 minute drive is 100% worth it. I find myself craving umami ramen at least once a week. Portion sizes are large and well worth the price. If I’m really hungry I can eat it all in one sitting but most of the time its perfect for dinner and lunch the next day! Since I’m 45 minutes away I usually get two or three bowls to take home with me. Don’t miss out on this place! (No fountain soda or water though so bring your own or buy some or their bottled drinks)
I have heard how great this place was from a few people but I have to say the recommendation was so understated! My daughter has been wanting to try this place but because of the times we havent had a chance to stop in. With her on winter break we had an opportunity to stop in today and boy was I shocked. As we walked in a gentleman greeted us right away. I explained to him that we had never been here before so he went through the menu and the ordering process! I have to say that this place blew my expectations out of the water! Before I am done I have to say that the food was outstanding also! We will definitely be back!
If I could give more than 5 stars I would. This place is so good! If I could change one thing about this place, I would move it to Grand Rapids. Luckily Im in Battle Creek a couple times a week for work, so I eat lunch here often. Everything is good, but the pork wonton nachos are ridiculously fantastic. Place is almost always busy and the staff is great! Even if there is a line out the door, still go. It is worth it!
This place has DELICIOUS food! We ordered the loaded chicken wonton and the Jamaican jerk wings. The owner is very friendly and encourages you to taste test the broths, which are made from scratch daily. Very little wait time for food. We were very impressed and will be back! Give this place a try, you will be happy you did!
The food here is delicious, fresh, and easily customizable. Portions are generous and it’s very easy to order. Excellent for meat eaters and vegetarians alike! My favorite items are the bao; I live two states away but every time I come up to Battle Creek I make sure to come here! 🍲
Truly a hidden gem for great tasting ramen noodle bowls. Friendly and helpful staff in this little place. I have never tried any of the other dishes they offer as the broths are so good I hate to take a chance on anything else. It’s my third time eating here and my next trip I am bringing my own big soup spoon.
Wow.... what a great place to eat. The food is unbelievable, one of those rare finds that we all feel ecstatic about when we do find it.The only reason it isnt a 5 is location and by that I mean the venue is so small it is literally elbow to elbow. It feels like you are at a night club, except youre hungry and just want to shove some great soup down your gullet.
My husband and I stopped in at the recommendation of a friend. With a max seating of 18-21 at the tables indoors, its a casual and cozy dining experience. The friendly and helpful staff explained a few of the menu items we werent familiar with. I ordered pork tonkatsu with pork belly and summer squash noodles, my husband got the same but with ramen noodles. The food was delicious, generous helpings served up hot in big bowls with a large variety of available garnishes. A good selection of bottled drinks are kept on ice. There are also a few tasty extras like egg rolls with a variety of meats or tofu.We arrived a bit before closing, so the place wasnt as packed as I had read. The staff were getting ready for a team meeting, but made sure to check if we needed anything before they started and as soon as we stood up to leave. We were very impressed at the respectful and collaberative tone of their meeting, happy to see a team discuss issues and solutions in open and constructive discussion. They definitely care and listen to their customers.A wonderful place, with wonderful food, served up by wonderful people! I couldnt ask for more!
My husband had been DYING to try this place and we finally went this week and I have nothing but good to say about Umami Ramen!!!! Not only is the food delicious (honestly, my first time having Ramen not out of a package) but the staff is absolutely amazing. The menu is simple but I think that’s part of the appeal! Yes it’s small and parking in the actual lot isn’t gonna happen but it’s totally worth it!I’m hoping summer hours will be longer but even so it’s worth a visit!! It’s exciting to see places like this in a Battle Creek because as far as food goes, we’ve basically got the same 5 types and that’s it!If your on the fence or feel like you’ll be out of your comfort zone, just go! The staff will help you decipher anything that you don’t understand (I know because I didn’t know 🤷🏽♀️) it’s delicious and filling!
Updating with info: I eat here every chance I get when in BC. Id eat here more if the hours lined up with my schedule and travel to and from Kzoo.Freshly made foods with seasonal and locally sourced ingredients - check. Flavorful and cravable - check. Nice staff with great service - check. I dont even mind sharing my table as long as I can slurp and make a mess.In short... check it out!
Best place to eat in cereal city! Very very fresh ingredients locally sourced and exceptional service. You are greated at the door the moment you walk in! Im a food snob so when I say this place is awesome it probably is and my review does it no justice to describe the experience that your taste buds get to experience at Umami Ramen!
I wish I could give this place extra stars. I took my daughters and a friend (13 and 14 year olds) there today with super high expectations. The place is small, but feels homey, not lacking in any way. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. But the star of the show here is the fabulous food. If you ever watch those TV shows where the host goes into some place and tries the food and and just goes into some sort of food-gasm, then thats what its like. The flavors are so clean and authentic and everything was perfect and delicious. Of the 4 dishes we tried, all were a 10 out of 10. The tofu is almost crisped on the outside and tender inside, and sucks in the wonderful flavor of the broth. The chicken is tender and perfect. And if you like really, really good pork, you have to try the pork belly. It was the most tender, flavorful pork belly Ive ever tasted. I finished everything and even drank the bowl dry. We also got kimchi, and it was the best kimchi Ive had since I was in Korea. All of us cant wait to go there again. These guys know what they are doing and take pride in what they do, and it really shows.
If you have never seen Brittany Murphys The Ramen Girl, then you cannot truly appreciate the smallness of this shop. The small area and seating is what makes this place unique to the ramen world. In Japan ramen chefs are revered, and many wait in line for hours just to get in to the small 5-10 seated area. The broth is completely homemade, and I have personally watched the owner testing the broth I believe she makes completely by herself (as it should be). Americans are not used to other cultures, or appreciating the atmosphere that goes along with another culture. I love that the owner has tried to make this place as authentic as possible. From the homemade broths, to the creative dishes she makes. The egg rolls were a great surprise the first time I had them. I also noticed that she was giving away egg rolls to homeless people (which is AMAZING)! The price relates to the quality of food you are getting. The only downside is when she moves from her small shop to a bigger area, I hope the authentic-ness stays the same, and doesnt change because a few people think there should be more room or more options. Making your own noodles is a skill all in itself, and to hire a noodle chef in the small restaurant might not be feasible at this time, which is definitely OK because the noodles she does offer with the ramen are firm and not soggy. My favorite broth is the Miso. I order mine without protein and the plethora of toppings to choose from is awesome. This shop is comparable to the ramen shop in Ann Arbor which also only has about 10 seats, you have to be there as soon as they open the doors if you dont want to wait for the goodness. Anything worth waiting for has to be delicious! I just hope when she moves her shop that it doesnt become too americanized. Being a ramen chef is no joke and for her to put out such good quality ingredients is no easy feat, putting your best out there is hard, but the owner has taken the good with the bad and made the best of her situation. I love this shop!
Poor customer service. Ive been a regular at this restaurant for some time. Staff members know me by name and know some staff member by the sound of their voice when I place my pick up order. Last week, I ordered 2 fried dumpling and 1 pork pho to-go. As soon as I left the restaurant, my pho, that was placed on the floor of my car tipped over. It immediately burst open. There was not a slow trickle. Clearly, I was extremely disappointed that part of my dinner was ruined. And now I have a quart of broth to clean out of my car carpet. When I got home to Kalamazoo, I discovered both of my orders of fried dumplings were also ruined . The dumplings were hard and dark brown. As someone who has lived in Korea for 5 years, I know how a dumpling should be. Well to crispy. Not hard like a rock. My whole $30 dinner was ruined. When I called, I asked to speak to Ian who simply said that 1 order of dumplings would be credited under my name. Needless to say, I wont be returning to use my $8 credit. Really disappointing as I know the owner is Thai and as someone who has lived in Thailand, I would expect much better customer service from this establishment.
Went in to try this place with my little brother today. He told me about it yesterday.Food was amazing! Im sure well both be back multiple times.Staff was su per friendly and helpful as well. Seeing as it was our first time. They walked us threw the menu and even gave us some recommendations.
This is my second favorite restaurant in Battle Creek. I was very surprised they had a noodle place here. I did not have ramen I opted for the brisket Pho and it did not disappoint. The service is a continuous flow from order to eating. If you are in a hurry Id go in an off peak time because lunch is very packed. Noodles are delicious and they have lots of fixens to go with your meal. The extras really add to the flavor of the broth however you could also just have broth and noodles and be completely satisfied. The ambiance is makeshift hole in the wall but the food is high restaurant quality. The price is awesome too. The quality and taste of the food greatly exceeds the price. I recommend this place if you want an intro to Asian noodle bowls or if you are looking for a great alternative to your regular lunch fair.
I have been craving some good ramen since I visited Japan last year and this place definitely sated my ramen craving. The food here was amazing and the staff were all so friendly. The restaurant is on the small side, so seating is a hit or miss, but this place is still great even for takeout. Their take out portions are just as generous as their regular portions. I would eat here every day if it was closer to my work, Ill definitely be going at least once a week if work/time permits. Amazing, amazing food!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like the feel of the place. The employees and owner seem really great. The restaurant is tiny, but it works and has a good vibe if you are ok with extremely casual or are just interested in take out.The food was ok. Ramen was good, but the egg rolls were disappointing. They were mostly filled with noodles, which seems like a result of cutting corners, costs, and flavors. Also, I was surprised by the loaded wontons because they were simply fried wonton wrappers topped with rice, crispy noodles, a sweet sauce, etc. I did not like it. It seemed like another time saving recipe. Why not instead fill wontons with cream cheese, sugar, immitation crab (crab rangoons) or with cooked veggies/meat?I hope the owner reads this, and makes a couple changes because I think this place has great potential!!
Ive eaten here twice in the last two days ! The ramen noodles were perfectly cooked, and the choices for meat, garnishes, and add-ons made this bowl of ramen uniquely mine. Super tasty! Get here early; the line gets long, and seating area is limited. Staff is friendly and helpful - dont be intimidated by the menu board, theyll help you through ordering.
Came in near closing and was welcomed with smiling faces and great flavor. Pick your noodles, protien (I got the pork belly), broth and garnishes and enjoy. I recommend trying the Mochi ice cream. They are balls of unique gourmet ice cream with the texture of dry sticky rice around ice cream. Very nice prices.
Not going to lie, I am pretty envious that Kalamazoo doesnt have a cool noodle joint like this. Its a little on the pricey side as far as soup places go but its not a chain, the ingredients are quality, there is a decent amount of variety in the menu and they even make some of their own ingredients like pickles which is a nice touch. I dont live in Battle Creek anymore but try to eat here when I am at least once a month. If youre on the fence, I say go for it and you wont regret it.
I never expected a ramen place to have the type of flavors and variety you can find here. It is so much more than soup and noodles. The broth, and stock are amazingly full of flavor. They also have some of the most wonderful dishes from their loaded wontons to their asian burrito. If you havent given them a try you are doing yourself a disservice.
As Gods prophet, vision from above, I declare Umami Ramen a Dining Must! Desire Of Ages! This Blessed Food is Divine. ...it’s good to see someone understanding the connection between our health products and our End-Days message…If you only have one last meal before Gods Second Coming. This. Is. The. Place!!!
This place is awesome. Rarely am I full after a meal and I never leave this place hungry. The best part is every bite is delicious af. You have to make several trips to try everything. Start with the ramen and pork belly, get a shrimp egg roll (a wonton wrapper filled with ramen, shrimp, and deliciouness), and always check the specials board for something great. Last week i had udon noodles with miso and tofu. Tasty! Probably the best lunch place in BC.
Me and my husband made a hour and half travel coming here having high hopes judging from reviews. Maybe we happened to be there at a wrong time but both our bowls of ramen were bland and the chicken was overcooked. I didnt care for the egg rolls either because instead of cabbage it was filled with more ramen and I wish they could have mentioned this in the menu because the soggy texture really threw me off.
First time trying Umami Ramen. It was very delicious and a huge cut above store-bought Ramen. I got ramen noodles with curry sauce and pork belly. The price of the dish was almost as easy to digest as the food itself. The curry was nice and thick and coated everything in a slightly spicy delicious sauce. If you are a fan of Asian food and enjoy ramen noodles, Umami Ramen is 110% worth stopping and every bit as much worth the value in what you pay for. The bowls are huge, you get a very generous portion for what you pay. I also tried the mushroom pho and chicken which was also so full of flavor and great. The wantons of various flavors looked amazing and I will definitely be back to try them.
I had pork belly ramen with pho broth, my wife had tofu in chickpea curry. The pork belly was cooked perfectly and just dissolved in my mouth. The pho was rich, with a nice blend of savory and sour. Plenty of options for topping your ramen. The house pickled carrots and kimchi were especially good.Staff is friendly and very helpful. The gentleman taking our order took plenty of time going over the menu with my wife and I.Pricing is very good. With tip the two of us got quite full for about $25.
Superb varieties of noodles including ramen, udon, rice, veggie too! Pick your broth, pick your protein, then put on toppings from a big selection. They make just about everything in house. Fresh, local ingredients when they can. A real sense of community here. Communal seating so get cozy with strangers around you. The ramen egg rolls should not be missed. Warning, the wonton nachos are huge and can easily feed two people.

2021-11-24(4.5 Stars) Excellent food I would have given 5 stars however the chicken was on the bland side. She uses high-grade all white meat. I just wish it had more flavor substance to it. Everything else does an excellent job of carrying the chicken, from the seemingly house made Ramen noodles to the flavor-packed curry sauce. Excellent fresh ingredients apparently at play here!

2021-10-09Always worth the stop when were in Battle Creek. Lots of vegetarian options. Great Ramen with broth choices. Favorite is the fat tofu veggie egg rolls.

2021-10-12I had a delicious ramen and chicken bowl with dark and red sauce. First time so I asked for the two on the side. Actually I mixed them and it was wonderful. I might try something with a little more kick next time. I was surprised how inexpensive the bowl was considering how large the portion was. Very friendly, efficient staff. The Mango bubble tea is a little bit of heaven in a glass!

2021-07-22Service: Wow just wow. Before even ordering, the manager greeted us with a warm welcome, oriented us about the their broth and that it is free to try so we know what we want. Plus, everyone is friendly.Food: Their beef brisket is amazing! The pork belly Bao I ordered is addictive so I went to order 3 more. House pickles are fresh!!!! Will order pork Tonkatsu soon.Overall, you can see a lot of regular customers smiling as they get their food. You will understand why this place have a 5-star rating. As an Asian, this restaurant is a great representation of how we put our love in cooking food. 10/10 the best restaurant in Battle Creek/Kalamazoo area! ❤️P.s these food relieves me from feelings of homesickness as an Asian immigrant. Thank you!

2021-07-21Great Noodle place with a lot of options for Broth, Proteins, Sauces, and Garnishes. I definitely recommend the Pork Belly. The only drawback is its a little on the pricey side. 3 bowls of soup and 3 drinks was $62. The outdoor patio is very nice as well.

2022-04-18Great place upbeat atmosphere , the owners have a passion to serve great tasting food. Peecoon & Lance are a blessing to BC, they are Kind, Generous, and Honest & they make a great ramen amongst other things. They are easy to find for quick lunch to go or cafe style indoors & patio.

2020-01-11Its real easy to drive by the restaurant if youre not looking for it. When I entered the restaurant, it didnt give me that WOW effect, however the steady stream of customers did! The menu is written nicely on the chalk board and you pick out what you want to eat and they make it for you. The food is delicious. Very seasoned. We ate at the restaurant and my portion was enough for two people. Noodles inside the shrimp egg roll was unexpected. However, it worked! The restaurant is moving to a larger location in April 2020. Stay tuned!

2022-06-03Hands down, Ive been to Chicago, LA, SAN FRAN, NY, BOSTON, MIAMI, TOYKO... There is no better place for noodles....I cant describe it, its different, its BETTER, but still ramen and udon (my favorite). Their specials are also usually very good. Tonkotsu broth is unmatched....sometimes greatness isnt found in some huge city... THIS is one of those times! If you like Asian noodle dishes and dont eat here youve done yourself and everyone you know a disserve 😜. Anyway its good ...really really good.
