Comment: Bought a 2007 van with a wheelchair ramp for our terminally ill grand daughter with the promise this company would buy it back after she died. When contacted after her passing we brought the van back, we we were at first offered low ball offer, less than half what we paid in August 2023, then told the van was damaged and refused to honor their promise. Stay away from this company, they take advantage of people in need because of illness or injury.

Comment: I felt so taken care of by Laura Hagins at the office at 3285 Santa Rosa Ave., in Santa Rosa, Ca. I completed an application on line one evening a couple of weeks before an event and received an email from Laura shortly after. I was able to get the type of vehicle I needed to transport my son to a special family event. He was very pleased with the stability of sitting in his wheelchair in the passenger side of the van we rented. I would definitely use this center again as needed.

Comment: My husband and I are both in wheelchairs so we have often been referred to as a special needs couple and some people consider that modifying a van to accommodate two wheelchairs in a van not designed to be a multi-passenger shuttle would be too difficult. We were so pleased to discover that we have a wheelchair accessibility conversion center in Santa Rosa so we were able to obtain our new Toyota Sienna without having to travel out of town to get to a conversion center. General Manager, Andrew Hirayama, was extremely helpful by explaining the different phases for compliance with VA requirements. He was also very flexible in facilitating the process for us and Palo Alto VA Prosthetics by taking our individual situations with our respective disabilities into consideration as we worked toward the final VA evaluation and approval of the conversion by Palo Alto VA which went more smoothly than we had anticipated. We are also extremely pleased that we now have a local place to go for regular maintenance and/or unanticipated problems with our conversion. As satisfied customers, we recommend Ability Center Santa Rosa and the mechanical & technical staff with “gusto”, they really know what they are doing.

Comment: STAY AWAY!!This business takes advantage of people in vulnerable situations and employs sloppy and unethical business practices. We purchased a Honda Odyssey with a wheelchair accessibility conversion package from sales associate Tony Nava. When asked about the resale value of the van, Tony said that it would be $5,000 to $7,000 less than the purchase price. After only 3 months and 600 miles, the Ability Center quoted a resale price of over $20,000 less than the purchase price. When pressed about the discrepancy between the quoted $7,000 discount from the $20,000 discount, the managers response was to sell the van on craigslist.Furthermore, the license plates were sent to the dealership rather than our home, and the dealership never forwarded the pink slip. The Ability Center has been unprofessional and unresponsive throughout our interactions since this purchase. For example, the missing pink slip is still unresolved over 3 months after the purchase with no help from the Ability Center.Given that these vehicles are a specialty item, their resale is more complicated than for a typical vehicle. The Ability Center takes advantage of this fact in the context of most resales occurring after the death of a family member and few resources to put in the extra work required to sell the vehicle for a fair price. While it is understandable that they need to run a profitable business, they seem to take advantage of people in a vulnerable situation, which is particularly frustrating after being told that they will purchase the vehicle back for a fair price.
