I live next door to an 86 year old woman, who uses Vandenbout for her snow and yard services. She is quite frail, doesn’t complain, and likes to keep to herself which is why I am writing this review. Vandenbout has done a poor job, at best, for my elderly neighbor for both lawn and snow. I have not said anything the several other times they have done a poor job, but really today they didn’t even try to do a good job. Pictured below is leaf removal services AFTER they provided their service. They did not come last week, therefore a huge amount of leaves needed to be taken care of during their visit today. Please notice that they didn’t bother to go over her yard twice in an effort to clean up her yard properly. This is NOT the first time they have done poor work. It has been on the summer yard work as well as with their snow services. Not sure if they do this to all customers or if they are just taking advantage of an elderly woman. It’s not right and if it were my mom I would do much more than just complain online.

Snow plow services were ok but they were usually late to plow in the morning to be an effective service for our morning commutes. I once asked for a quote for brush removal and i was told it would be more than $500 and an employee said it wasn’t worth his time to show up and pay their men so I turned down the quote.Vandenbout has accounting problems with their billing, they tack on fees for using a credit card, and in my last season of business with them they waited over a year to want to process my payment which is outside current credit card policies to be valid. I documented six attempts to ask vandenbout to process my card info and after a year of waiting my credit card company informed me that if vandenbout attempted to collect then my credit card company would help me overturn the transaction. Merchant services deems the practice as an unreasonable time to collect and added that is unethical for any business to hold my active card information for that much time.Lastly, Vandenbout uses illegal practices for marketing on doors and mailboxes all while they spread litter through my neighborhood as their flyers blow away.After three seasons, I chose to pay more per year to a different company that shows up in a timely fashion and handles my business in a more professional manner. I mean, it’s nice when a business actually wants to take my money in exchange for a good job, you know?

VandenBout Snow & Lawn did a great job this summer on a few landscaping projects at my house in Grand Rapids. Ken was personally on the site and was extremely personal. He was on time, cleaned up and did an outstanding job. I would recommend him to anyone! I will be using his services again next spring for more landscaping projects.

Ken VandenBout has worked for me for over 15 years. Ken is on the job himself for landscaping and does my snow service too. He is a great communicator, gives a fair price and does the job on time. I am super impressed with his services

My father & I purchased the snow plow service for the season. The contract states they will come when the snow is at least 2 inches. This will be the 3rd time that they did not come to either house. The owner hung up on my parents today because they did not come at all. My dad is handicap and unable to do it in his own. I would not recommend them AT ALL! I wish there was a option to give a negative rating.

Im a long time customer of Vandenbout Snow & Lawn services. They provide excellent services. Ive even referred several friends and neighbors and received positive feedback from those entities. The prices are fair and their services are timely, pleasant and responsive to request.

For years now theyve been putting flyers illegally on mailboxes. Ive called them more than once about this practice being illegal. Very clear in the postal laws1.3Use for MailExcept under 2.11, the receptacles described in 1.1 may be used only for matter bearing postage. Other than as permitted by 2.10 or 2.11, no part of a mail receptacle may be used to deliver any matter not bearing postage, including items or matter placed upon, supported by, attached to, hung from, or inserted into a mail receptacle.Got another today so they obviously dont care and dont realize this is losing them business. I guess well start reporting them to the USPS and maybe the fines will help them listen.

Only had Ken for snow plowing for 1 season, was thinking about signing on for lawncare this spring. happy i didnt choose to do that, wouldnt recomend them to anyonne.

Horrible service. If it hasnt snowed by midnight you dont get plowed until the next night. Kentwood has plowed my sidewalk and the street today....by 12:30 pm. My driveway is still not cleared.

Just watched one of their employees blow their customers debris onto my curb and two of my neighbors curbs as well as use profanity towards another lawn care company because a pushmower was apparently preventing them from being able to do their job.... Highly unprofessional
