Comment: My favorite bike shop in all of both the L.A. and O.C. area. A lot of great & beautiful bikes, accessories, and great staff. Just to see the rare older bikes hanging from the ceiling are worth the trip alone. Update: I went back and bought an additional BMC (SLR01) which I have been riding about 950+ miles a month. Matt went out of his way to change-out a K-Edge from a different brand of bike computer to properly fit my Garmin 530. Its a long drive for me, but well worth the trip.

Comment: For a bike shop that specializes in road bikes, they did not seem very knowledgeable about simple conversions. I went in for a quick axle swap for a wheelset (from thru axle to quick release) and the repair/upgrade shop immediately said it is not possible. The technician did not even bother to inspect the wheelset and instead advised me to either purchase another wheelset or a frame. It turns out, it is entirely possible and the process has a wide array of official conversion kits available depending on the hub of the wheels.Another local bike shop a few miles away managed to swap my wheelsets axles and end hubs with OEM parts within an hour and now I have fast carbon wheels on my bike!With that said, Im willing to give Velo Pasadena a second try in the near future since its closer to where I live

Comment: Came for their mid tier tune up. Pretty quick turn around. Bike shifts great after. Only thing I wish they would have brought up to me is the fact that the bottom bracket needed an overhaul. Im sure it was not included in the tune up, but if they would have test rode it they would have noticed it right away and informed me that it needed work. I would have gladly got it done there to save time. I ended up taking it else where. But again the tune up was very good.

Comment: This place is amazing. They are the most friendly and customer-oriented people you can imagine. They got my bike ready in a very short amount of time, and when I went to pickup the bike, I was a tad short on time, and arrived 10 minutes late. I called them and they patiently waited for me to pick up the bike (note that this was after 7pm on Friday! when everyone wants to go home asap). The shop was super cute, lots of amazing gear/bikes to rent/buy. I wish I had more time to explore. Also on my bike ride there was a heavy rain so I slid and fell when trying to break on a corner. At the time it didnt feel like bike was damaged but upon returning they noticed some problems. However, they didnt charge me extra for anything but they could have, and I offered to pay for the damage. This was extremely generous on their side. I genuinely think there is no better bike shop I have ever been to, and I have been to many all over the world. This is the place to go! Thank you so much, Matthew, Hrach and others!

Comment: I had a good experience getting my bike built with Velo. (Most of it was not stock and it was put together solidly. I love my bike and use it daily) They have a good stock of parts and accessories and will gladly order anything they dont have on hand. Prices are on the high side in my experience but they carry a lot of items youd otherwise have to order online and wait for. It helps to know what you want before going in because they stock such a large range of products and the staff can sometimes get behind helping people. That said, they will help you eventually and youll walk out with a good product. Its a family owned business which is always a plus these days.

Comment: Took my bike to be inspected due to a skipping under load issue when I brought it i showed them how and when it skips I was told to come back in two days when I returned they were clueless about the issue harash said it didnt skip so i showed him how and when it skipps again totally wasting my time. I informed them that parts and bike were new they assumed that I was not well verse on bicycle and components. they sold me new replacement cassete and chain that didnt fix the issue harash looked bothered when I asked for a refund for the parts he sold me that didnt fix the bike he charged me for labor which I paid..Harash then said the issue was the back wheel but didnt offer to further assist me with finding and getting the bike fix, left me a fellow road cyclist hanging nasty. So I went on YouTube and I ended figuring it out myself it was the freehub pawls that were not engaging properly I took it apart cleaned it lubed it and put it back together ended up fixing my own bike. If you have a repair shop help your customers dont give up on them like velo did to me.

Comment: Many thanks to the team at Velo Pasadena for taking such great care of my first race-ready road bike! Because I’m extremely short, I bought DTC and “assembled” my new bike myself, but wanted to make sure it was professionally worked up. Mike was super patient, thorough, and knowledgeable in reviewing everything and answering all of my (and my chatty mom’s) questions, even the more general ones. He also took time to figure out what a good track bike option would be for my short self, whether through brands they carry or in their vintage collection; and I had the chance to see if a vintage option would fit (after they kindly took it out from storage!). As far as I could tell everyone working was professional and friendly. Definitely a shop you can trust with your precious bicycle. Not to mention, they have an amazing world-class selection of bicycles in-store 😀

Comment: Was in the market for a new bike in the time of covid. My boss gave me a recommendation for his favorite shop so of course I stopped by. Hrach, Matthew, and Zach were friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and didn’t try to upsell me on anything. After a few bikes, I was pointed to a Kona which Hrach adjusted for me on the spot and let me take it for as many spins up and down the street as I wanted. He wasn’t even offended that I wanted to check out a few other bike shops before making a decision. Two hours later, I was on my way back to Velo.Hrach and Matthew both get me settled on the bike, pedals, and asked me if I wanted shoes to go with it. No pressure at all. The shop was a little busy, but service was quick. Hrach and Zack helped me out with shoes and Zach gave me a quick 101 on clipping in and out.Have to say, there are many bike shops out there that are great, but I’m glad I came back to Velo Pasadena. Thanks guys.

Comment: In reading this review, keep in mind that I only visited once, so I cannot be sure if my experience was typical. The store was well stocked and seemed to offer all I could want, but I hit a snag on a Monday afternoon in getting anyone to help me with my cyclery needs.I asked one person for assistance, who passed me to another ... and then reluctantly took me back when his first pass-off could not provide me with knowledgeable help. The store had only two customers present at this time (including me) but at least double that number of apparent store employees wore uniform polo shirts, so it was not clear to me where the difficulty lay in offering help.Once I got assistance and made my purchase, they were polite and helpful in getting a bulky bike rack to my car.

Comment: If you are a road bike enthusiast, put Velo Pasadena on the top of your list to visit. Today I stopped by on a whim to try and locate a hart-to-find part: A 1980s Campagnolo bottom bracket. Hrach, the owner, greeted me with a cup of coffee in his hand, politely nodded and said Follow me...We walked across the street to what I can only describe as the Taj Mahal of LEroica type road bike life. While the owner dug through a cabinet looking at his inventory I lost myself on the sale floor: Hanging from the ceiling were dozens of stunning Colnago, Cinelli, Guerciotti, Gios Torino, Eddy Merckx road bikes all for sale! Hundred of vintage parts from the Golden Age of road cycling were all well displayed and priced fairly. I departed with a NOS Campagnolo 113mm BB...and a pair of Simplex shifters. My build is complete and I cannot be happier. Seriously, who has vintage Campy in stock anymore?The vintage was counter poised with the other half of the shop dedicated to state-of-the-art E bikes. An amazing opportunity to step back and forth into the past and future of cycling under on roof.THANK YOU HRACH - YOU AND THE VELO CREW ARE AMAZING!

Comment: Bottom, bracket creaked. Spent a year trying to fix it. Gave up, took it to bike shop (not Velo). Creak continued for another year. Took bike to Velo. Mechanic found fault in headtube in about 5 seconds, fixed it beautifully, at a very very reasonably cost and with great attitude. Bike now rides sooo quietly, that I just hear the hiss of the road and my lungs giving out.Thanks Velo...

Comment: I have been coming here for over 25 years. This is a family owned business with personalized and professional service. Hrach and his son, Matthew treat you like family. The entire staff, including Victor and Raul, are awesome. I have had friends crash and there is always a concern about the state of their tires or bike mechanics. I therefore take my bikes regularly for a checkup periodically and if nothing is wrong, they are honest and do not try to sell me what I dont need. Velo may not compete with Internet prices but what they lack in competitive pricing they more than make up for in service. I dont want to rely on myself to put something on my bike or fix it so I feel well taken care of by Velo.They not only promote safe cycling, but bike events and cancer projects like the Pablo Project. I have bought all my bikes here, including my kids bikes, and all kinds of paraphernalia such as bike racks and baby trailers, you name it. They do an excellent job. I cannot recommend them enough. They are not only my favorite bike store but they are my good friends. They are honest, hard working, decent, and wonderful people.

Comment: Avoid these guys - Dont go there with any high end bikes especially mountain bikes for repair, they are clueless..They promised me two days turnaround on a frame replacement, it took them over two weeks and many phone calls, the replacement frame needed a new front derailleur and double ring crankset; they sold me the wrong crankset replacement part for $350 -- we had discussed the fact that I would be going from a triple ring to a double ring and lose by largest ring, once I eventually got my bike back after spending $650 with them in total, and tried to ride the bike in the mountain I realized it was very hard to climb, and thats when I realized they had sold me the wrong crankset and actually what I had received had the smallest ring removed and not the largest, after calling them they tried to blame me for picking that part, which I never picked but they recommended, but said they will replace it with a new crankset at 30٪ discount on part and no labor, I said fine since I had no choice, come to find out the part was more expensive than the parts being sold online actually even with their claim of 30% discount so that was a lie, also they had kept my old bike parts and claimed they didnt know how to contact me to return the old parts, but when I went in to get my bike back with the replacement crank they showed me all the information from the time I took the bike in the first time - so another lie about keeping my old parts -- overall unqualified mechanics when it comes to high end mountain bikes, rude service manager Raul said they dont care about online reviews -- so save yourself the disappointment and go to another bike shop -- there are others in Pasadena that know what they are doing actually ... I ended up wasting $350 and 5 weeks dealing with these unprofessional clowns..

Hrach and Matthew, the owner and his son, are very knowledgeable regarding their product line and are very patient and helpful with the hardcore or the novice. Add to all of these great reasons to shop at Velo, they have Victor who is a master mechanic. Victor solves issues the first time and the repair is done right every time. Velo is my first stop for anything cycling.

Comment: I have taken my bike in here for maintenance one time before, and my mother took her bike another time, both times they charged waaaaay too much for a simple tune-up, volunteering other parts for replacement that did not need replacement which i found out later. The workers ignored me most of the time and created a truly unwelcoming atmosphere. Try open road bike shop around the corner up sierra madre. That place is loads better, i will never go to velo again.
