Very helpful service technicians and staff. I had a problem with a repair and brought it back to be looked at. They fixed it on the spot, even though it was 5 minutes to closing time. They also have a great selection of bikes and supplies and will guide you to the right bike at the right price for you.
They had my 2021 Giant Fathom 29 2 today for several hours trying to fix a couple of the issues that Giant has a overlooked with the bike. They treated me great! They were willing to work on a bike they didnt sell even though it was a warranty claim and didnt cost me anything. Best bike shop Ive been to by far!
Excellent service and down to Earth people. Smooth transition from start to finish. They didnt try to upsell me a new bike and did some maintenance on my old one. Would highly recommend. The turn around time for the maintenance was fast for the amount of people scheduling bike tune-ups.
Outstanding service! I purchased my bike at the Jenison store back in 05...any issue over these years, Village Bike fixes, even emergency in-and-out-gotta-get-this-fixed-NOW situations! Ive patronized the Jenison and Kentwood stores, and had an emergency fit-me-in service (flat tire on a Century ride) at the Plainfield store. Time to put a few more thousand miles on that bad boy...because Village has it in top condition!
I have a great TT bike. Ive had it for 10+ years and it was starting to not feel like the dream machine it once was and I was considering selling it because it had lost that lovin feelin. Brought it to VBS, they breathed new life into it and it is now back to its original glory, and I feel like I have a new bike! Perhaps more practically, VBS was honest with me with what needed to be done. They adjusted the pricing based on need. I trust them fully and have appreciated their work for years. If you want quality, fair, and efficient service, look no further. VBS, you are appreciated. Thank you!
Just picked up my wifes bike. Had to have a new tire & tube. Tire was defective. I trust village bikes completely, its important to have someone you can trust. And reasonable prices. Bring on the pina coladas. Lol Sincerly Dennis & nancy Merryman.💏 shes ready to take a ride 2 day.🚴🏁
The folks at Village Bike are THE. BEST. I bought two bikes from them last year, and received top notch customer service. Just today, I was trying to order a helmet and have it delivered to my home and I was encountering issues. Not only did Dan give me his number to phone him directly to resolve the issue, Cody delivered the helmet to my home the very same day I ordered it. No matter if they’re providing customer service in person in the store, or virtually during a pandemic, I have always had a pleasant experience with the team at Village Bike. I would recommend them to ANYONE and EVERYONE. Keep it up! I will definitely be back when I’m ready to buy another bike or more accessories.
These guys were great! I showed up on an hours notice needing some maintenance on my bike. Although they didnt really have a spot in their schedule that day, they stopped what they were doing and fixed my bike in 10 minutes. Fairly priced and quick turnaround service. Outstanding
Always excellent customer service! Ive purchased two bikes from them, a mountain and a road, over the last 7 years. They are very knowledgeable and are always willing to answer any questions. Theyll even go out of their way to make sure you are making an informed decision.
By far the best customer service for a bike shop! I was trying to get my bike fixed but to expensive to repair. They went above and beyond to help to choose the best option on saving money on a bike. If I ever need repair on a bike, I would pick Village Bike & Fitness! (6 stars)
I received great service here over the phone and in store and I want everyone to know about it.Needed some minor maintenance on my bike, they helped me out and got me taken care of real quick - even hooked me up w a small piece of hardware I needed.Happy I went here. Would recommend.
We went here to buy my son a bike that would work well for him and fit well. They didnt direct us to the most expensive bikes, they steered us to the bikes that would be just right for him based on his height and level of experience. We couldnt be happier with the bike. And, they went through, step by step and taught my son how to use the gears, what he needs to do to keep the bike in good maintenance, etc. Now, my son WANTS to go back in, just to see everyone again and to get his bike tuned up on schedule. They really impressed upon him that these bikes require responsibility and my son listened and takes it all very seriously! I love this place and their customer service. Top notch!
20 years ago I purchased a Giant Yukon from Village Bike Shop. I’ve spent some time hitting the single track at Yankee Springs with it. But I have focused more of my attention to triathlons. Village Bike Shop suggested a Specialized Shiv for my first Ironman. Now I’ve done Lake Placid, Chattanooga, Mont-Tremblant, and Madison Ironman with that bike. I also purchased a Giant TCR for my wife who has done 2 triathlons with me.With this craziness of Covid-19 going on I had some more time to hit my mountain bike and realized I’m due for an upgrade. After speaking with an associate of Village Bike Shop over email (on Easter Day) they were able to steer me in the right direction for exactly what I needed. I was able to purchase the Giant Stance 29 2 and the mechanics took an extra step to go over the bike before I took it home. I had all intentions of buying a Specialized Rockhopper for my wife but they did not have any in stuck. They explained that with the pandemic going on that Giant and Specialized were not shipping anything. I fully understood but my experience with Village Bike Shop has always been amazing. I always tell my fiends who ask about bikes, just go to the store, they will know more and be able to set up.Strongly suggest Village Bike Shop of you are in the market
I highly recommend this store! Im an avid amateur rider, and purchased a bike from them about 3 years ago, at the recommendation of a friend who knows a lot more about bikes than I do. They helped me find the perfect bike for what I needed. The bike was a good price and excellent quality. Ive ridden about 600 miles on it so far, and couldnt be happier with it.Today, I bent my front wheel the day before a big trip, and was able to take it in and get it fixed for next to nothing, and all in a matter of minutes. Thank you, guys!!!If you want to buy a quality bike from staff who know what theyre doing, and can help you with your purchase - as well as upkeep down the line - this is the place to go!
Understaffed and terrible customer service. Disappointing. I visited this bike shop 4 times in the past week to research and purchase a new mountain bike. The guys definitely know their equipment, Ill give them that. But on my second day I was ready to purchase, as I was checking out, we found out bike I was purchasing had been sold to another customer already. My sales person was apologetic and offered me an adjusted price on another bike and even ordered me a different bike from another store. I went in purchase that bike a few days later and ended up waiting without service for over 20mins. I left, received a call after the store closed saying my bike had arrived(which I already knew). I went to the store today to purchase a different bike( more expensive) waited for over 30 mins barely being acknowledged by sales staff. One sales person apologized for the other day, yet, I continue to wait while other customers were being helped. I still kept getting bumped to the back of the line(even new customers that came in after me were being helped). Someone finally came back to help me, which at that point I asked for a refund. It is apparent my money or time is not valued at this shop which is unfortunate. Good experience went south quickly. They should be ashamed of themselves for their passive disregard for SOME of their customers while actively engaging others.
Rude. Went to the Kentwood location this past Black Friday looking to support local and purchase a new bike for our kiddo. The place was empty and when the clerk wandered out several minutes after wed walked in, the gentleman could barely be bothered to reply and clearly was not interested in assisting. We asked some questions and tried to solicit a dialog but it was a profoundly lost cause.
I bought my Specialized road bike here at Village Bike- South in 2008. 19,000 miles later its still rollin- thanks to outstanding parts and service support from this shop. Most recently, I was having some serious foot numbness issues- Matt fitted me with the right insoles for my high arches and problem was solved! We are fortunate to have this convenient location on the South end. Thank-you!
Ive been using the Village series of bike shops for years now. First with my dad as a teen, and then more than a decade later after moving back into the area on my own.Start with a nice, easy to get around in showroom area, with most of what youd need laid out and easy to find, add an attentive and helpful staff who can help with recommendations but are honest enough to not push the most expensive if you mention a budget, nor if its not the best choice for your situation.. and are good enough to admit to not knowing an answer to a question if they dont, rather than trying to fake it like some places Ive been.Mechanics who have, for me at least, gone above and beyond the needed service at great costs, and are willing to explain things in as complex or simple terms as desired. And a general willingness to work with you, to make it right. The experience I have at this shop is not, I want to sell you bikes, but instead I want to see you riding a bike. Theyve helped me turn unridable, poorly built bikes into passable temporary bikes, take a mediocre bike in poor repair and make it into a decent and fun ride. Theyve never tried to push a brand new bike on me, and instead pointed out low cost refurbished ones for if I come into funds enough and want to go that route some day. Now, I dont know what the other stores are like, but the GR-South / Kalamazoo and 60th street store helped bring me back into biking that I hadnt done in years, and without them, I wouldnt have managed to put in a 50 mile ride this year, firmly topping my old best of 15 miles the years before!
Ive visited Village Bike for major bicycle purchase, peripherals, service, and repairs, and have always found the staff to be extremely helpful, professional, and friendly. Good selection and helpful, no-pressure guidance in making purchases. I wouldnt go anywhere else for my bike needs!
I am amazed at the dedication this place has for customer service. Let me tell you a story:My son dropped his bike off and through some miscommunication (not really sure who was at fault but it is beside the point now) he walked up to the bike shop in the cold the next day to get his bike and was told it was not ready. So he just took it and left. Now, as a ticked off parent whose kid just walked in the cold to get his bike I had a knee jerk reaction and gave them a negative google review. That was my mistake, because what I should have done was called the bike shop to voice myself first.Within a couple hours of me posting the negative review I received a call from the manager Joe at the bike shop and he left a voicemail asking me to call Monday to see what we could do to make it right.I just got off the phone with Joe and he couldnt have been nicer. He apologized for the error, and I apologized to him for not calling him 1st. In the end he said they would make sure my sons bike was fixed so he could get to and from work. The lesson I learned here is that prior to a negative review, I will call the business and express my concern, etc. I really appreciated Joe owning up to the mistake and being gracious enough to accept my apology as well, and most importantly, to prioritize getting my sons transportation fixed so he can get to and from work.
I brought my spin shoes in to ask for help. The cleats were bending/twisting and needing to be tightened often. The guy behind the counter listened to me, looked at the shoes, and was like, Oh yeah. I can fix this. He fixed it within 5 minutes and didnt charge me. Thank you and Ill be coming to you guys for all my future cycling needs!
Stopped in to look for a bike....as I was browsing I met salesman named Phil...wasn’t to impressed with Phil...very condescending . The kind of guy that makes u feel stupid when u ask a question..anyways , bought an 800.00 bike...took home , took it around the block and noticed chain was rubbing derailer..(something had come loose )so loaded up and took back to Villiage shop...walked in met Phil again and explained the problem ...he put up on rack and started working on it. Then he called over a bike tech take a look...tech looked at me with that errogent , condescending look and said” were u messing with this”? Really! What kind of a question is that?I’m a 55 yr old man that just bought an $800 dollar bike...and he’s speaking to me like I’m some young punk!!! Very heavy dose of arrogance in the air at this shop...I guess the amount of respect hinges on how much money u have spent...I guess if I would have purchased a bike for 5,000 dollars they would have met me with a glass of wine at the door...very unhappy. Won’t shop there again

2022-06-24My wife and I had a great experience with the North location. Cory did a great job with a fit for both of us and made my wife comfortable with the experience by educating her along the way. Not only did he just ask the questions, he explained the why. Denise and Lance were also very helpful at pick up and with installing a new rack and going over all the details of our new bikes. Highly recommend!

2022-06-04Went into Village with a “broken” bike assuming I would need a replacement part, a long wait for the part to arrive, and a hefty bill. Instead, whoa! Steve W (so sorry if I missed that name) offered to put it on the rack “now” and try bending the bracket back into shape. It was a risk with no real downside for me, but 5 minutes later we walked out with a perfectly rideable bike, some insights on better riding behaviors, and tremendous gratitude! Great skill, terrific customer service, and a whole lot of renewed loyalty from this repeat customer.

2022-06-28I called Village and advised I had a very basic boys Mt Bike that needed a tune up. I informed them it was jumping gears and my teen was struggling with the bike. They said they were two plus weeks out for tune ups but told me to bring it in and they could take a look and see what I was looking at. I arrived and they were so helpful right away. They told me they would take a quick look and let me know what was going on. Shorty after I got a call back and advised of the issue. I told them ok and that I would come grab the bike and schedule the repair later. Their response was no, we are going to just do the repair and will call when ready!! Soon after I got a call and informed the bike was all set. I went and picked up the bike and the staff was still so helpful with everything. I am so impressed with this bike shop and will recommend them to anyone. I wish I had the need for a new bike because I would purchase from them. Go to the Village for bike etc needs you will be happy! Tks Staff!!

2022-04-22Came here through a referral and this place did not disappoint. Good selection and knowledgeable staff. Walked out with the Giant Talon 2 in concrete and it performs well and is very stylish. Will be looking for a road bike through them as well. Thanks!

2021-12-05Village Bike Shop is always a good experience. Due to proximity, I use the Plainfield store and over the last few years have purchased 3 bikes, had numerous routine maintenance episodes, and gear including racks, helmets, tires, etc. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and consults with me on what I really need and what will be the best choices for my needs. I booked my last maintenance visit, then had to leave town for work travel. My wife brought the bike in and the staff helped her get it off the truck and into the shop on arrival and back into the truck when she picked it u. I highly recommend Village for all your bike needs.
