Comment: The best fabric and sewing machine repair in Santa Rosa as far as Im concerned. Thread selection large and somewhat oriented towards quilting and embroidery. I dont know much about their machine sales as I own vintage machines, but the selection seems quite good. They also offer excellent classes. I learned to quilt in one of theirs about 10 years ago.

I have bought 2 sergers and three different sewing machines that I just love from Lisa in Ukiah who knows her machines and was very helpful in my search for what I wanted. I now have traveling machines, and the others are in different locations. I have had my older sewing machines in for service, and Dave, the repair technician, is wonderful and knowledgeable. Thanks to all that have helped me be happier in my old age and getting me back on track.

Comment: How about a TEN * * * * * * * * * * star review! If I could, I would tell the world about how amazingly giving John is... lest that be the impetus for customers to come for entitlements. John has touched so many lives with his compassion and generosity, including mine!!! I was a professional seamstress for a bridal shop for over 20 years and many years ago when my Husqvarna 990 motherboard went out, John gave me a brand new loaner until the motherboard could arrive from Sweeden. (6wks)Since that machine I have purchased a surger and three other Husqvarnas; 1+, Designer 1 and a Ruby. Each machine advancement has been combined with free classes and constant support of machine and software. John was even able to repair and restore an early 1900s hemstitcher that was given to me. Oh, the hundreds of flannel baby receiving blankets I have edged with that!!!Village Sewing Center organized a compassionate service project to make and collect probably at least 100 quilts to send to Japan when they suffered the devastating tsunami several years ago. In addition, more recently, Village Sewing Center was granted essential status when Covid invaded our existence. His store was available for purchase and gifting of necessary items for mask making and for thousands of masks donated and dropped off for distribution. He and his staff worked LONG hours, especially John and the repair tech in repairing machines brought in so the community could sew masks.Suffice it to say that John and the Village Sewing Center are on the top of my list.. not only as a business but as people of personal integrity, concern and compassion.Whenever I have problems, questions or in need of ideas and creativity, Jackie (now retired) and crew are ALWAYS on call whether it be in the store or on the phone. They are very well educated and experienced in their field and trade; their classes are SUPERIOR!!In my mind its not the store (well they ARE the store) its the people, John and his staff, who make a difference in peoples lives. My life is richer, more rewarding and fulfilling, with passions fulfilled, because of what they do to encourage those things. After a repeated problem with my walking foot, John refused to give up until he could fix the problem.The sales people in the store are equally helpful. They give you plenty of time to just look around and are more than eager to answer questions or help you find that perfect fabric.Under strict Covid 19 guidelines, they were so helpful in allowing us to shop for face mask fabric and elastic and were so speedy in getting our machines ready for the long hours of sewing that those masks entailed. Thats real community service!

This was only repair place in CA recommended by the Vintage Viking yahoo group. Jessie looked thoroughly at this ebay auction machine and basically it was dropped by the owner. Lots was not working and repairs would be very $$$. I said no and he agreed. I left Jesse the machine for parts. There was no charge.I would return here when my other Viking Husqvarna 6020 needs service. It is worth the travel. Also the store is beautifulfrom Judy

Classes have been really great.I traded in my Rose for a Pfaff CV and I am thrilled with it - - but I missed my Rose, so bought a trade in replacement and now I am even happier!! Next Ill be attending classes to learn to easily thread and use my Viking Serger.Finally, I LOVE BUCK-A-BLOCK!!! Because ot the monthly schedule, Ive managed to complete two quilt tops and am on my way to having two fully finished quilts!! I can hardly wait for the new programs to begin next month. It also gets me into the store at least once a month!!

Comment: I have taken numerous wonderful classes at the Village Sewing Center.I bought one machine from John and a new one came in that I wanted. John worked with me to give me what I had paid for the first machine, and I came out with the new one that I love. There were classes for me to learn to use the new machine. And if I ever need my machine serviced, only John will touch that machine! I love that the store stocks everything that the person who sews, quilts or embroideries needs. The people who work in the store all sew, quilt and embroider, so they are real resources of the right information. John also stocks wonderful sewing tables and other furniture for machines. I never feel the need to go to any other store for anything pertaining to sewing, embroidering or quilting because his stock supplies everything that I need.I love the store!

Comment: I have been a customer of the Village Sewing center for many years. I must say they are the best!!!! John runs an exceptional business in the sewing industry/ I highly recommend this store. His staff also is exceptional, always courteous and helpful. He provides classes for fun, and also for learning experience. As for equipment, meaning sewing machines, you cant find any better ones any where.When it comes to purchasing one, John will go out of his way to be sure youare happy and pleased with what you purchased. Besides often going above and beyond doing much to please his customers. I have first hand experience with that. John and Jackie worked hard to help me be happy with my new Brother machine.Thanks to all the staff here for making a wonderful place to obtain all our supplies, todo the things we love to do. Comment: I am in the store several times a month and the staff are always smiling. They make sure to say hello to every person that walks in the door. Everyone is very knowledgeable and willing to help. I take many classes and belong to several of their free clubs and find that no one makes you feel stupid or uncomfortable about your projects. Please if you are looking for a sewing or project store try them out.Joy

Comment: Though I live an hour away from Village Sewing Center, it is absolutely my dealer of choice. The staff is always knowledgable and very friendly. The classes are fun and informative. The store is well equipped for every sewing machine need, vacuum need, plus they carry a beautiful selection of quilting fabrics and the latest books and magazines. My friends and I make regular field trips to Village Sewing Center just to see whats new. Keep up the great work VSC.
