What a wonderful place to volunteer. If it’s a donation of your time, resources or funds they are willing and worthy. Working with any of the girls is always bittersweet. Knowing they have a safe place to land during a difficult time in their lives is Vista Maria.

I personally did not like it there. there were some rude staff members, the staff members never bothered when i told them about being groomed by a peer. but the therapy i could recomend. but rose hall isnt a very nice building in there

Yes, building bonds with the kids are amazing but the company does NOT really care about their clients or on the floor employees. It seems to just be all bout the money with them. Work there with caution because its an amazing place to work in the orientation but horrible once on the field.

Its a great place to work, and the work we do for our residents and clients is nothing short of remarkable. FEEL OUR ZEAL! The company however, does absolutely nothing to protect its employees, so if you are considering working here proceed with maximum caution. The five stars are for the children and hard working staff, not the company.

Going to give the real spill on this place, because i never saw much info before going here and most info are lies including the fake 5star reviews.THE BUILDING: maybe I shouldn’t complain, $200 rent right? I recommend gathering an extra $150 a month and grabbing a few roommates and a house. The building is run down, there are no bathtubs that are not broken, there are 2 working showers, there is a very special someone that likes leaving dirty tampons places and staff does nothing, everything is always dirty, there are gnats throughout the entire building, as well as centipedes and stink bugs. I arrived and my room was infested and in the 4months i was here they were there, the water pressure of the toilets is so low they get backed up because they cannot flush solid matter. When i moved here i was presented as this could be a safe place to rest, an apartment, food, clothing, they would help with jobs/school all types of things from 24 hour crisis (who is one of the individuals addressed in the staff part). None of it is true. I was never told about the rules here, the groups, or much of anything other than it’s an apartment, a day later 12am someone is walking in to do a room check after coming in with a key (all staff have keys to the rooms and come in, naked or whatever). In fact, during medical emergencies, these girls call lyfts and the ones without cards call ambulances. The building gets FREEZING at night. There are fire alarms in the rooms that go off at random times because of malfunction (mornings and nights). They try to stick rediculous fees for things like $80 for damaged window screens, when a sceen is like $30 at home depot, on top of that their rinky dink maintenance doesn’t do much properly and they literally fall out, some girls had bugs in their rooms because their windows weren’t proporly installed. Also, that notice where nobody can come in without a 24 hour notice for maintenance? Well I addressed the staff but maintenance will wake you up in the morning to come out so they can check something or do this and that.THE STAFF: is another story, they are immature bullies who seem like they were pretty much hired out of a pool of anyone. They’re very rude, very ego minded, very childish. A particular staff does nothing but kick her feet up on her desk and ghetto gossip about nothing LOUD ASF all day, then goes and preaches about loving everybody. She would always go out of her way to try to butt into my business and start problems because i carry myself highly, I don’t do drama, and I don’t tell too much about myself. Literally it got to a point where i asked her to just leave me alone and she had a problem with it still. One staff was extremely rude to me the one and only time i asked for a ride to a job interview, she told me one time, did another, then she went off on me for trying to clarify the time, the staff here even though it’s like 16-24 feels the need to demean you because they’re older middle aged women, i calmly told this women if she cant talk to me like a human being don’t talk to me, then she tells me to get out of the car (all on video) on southfield and shaffer (the hood) (I didn’t). They get mad if you don’t speak and say things like “you girls need to talk to some staff” when in fact, some girls have and all that happened is that now all the staff is gossiping about her. They don’t address concerns like when i was almost kidnapped.LOCATION: i was better off on Joy, the location is so bad I didn’t want to go outside the gate. They tell you ride help and stuff but not true at all, they give you bus passes. I was almost kidnapped at the bus stop across the street. A man in a trailblazer got out and approached me, i kept my distance and he most likely noticed i was holding something in my hand in my pocket (mace). I feel sorry for the people/kids sent by the state and i’m sure the foster building is a nightmare. The state sends $200/m to here but they still charge the girls $200/m for rent on top like everybody else. I closed a horrible chapter of life. They force pills/bc too...

I was here from 1986-1987,i was 14 and graduated from Donna Maria hall..the staff except for 1 was amazing,i learned alot and it was an amazing place with lots of love and acceptance that i didnt have in my home life.I will never forget the things i learned and especially the ppl, staff and girls that made an impact on my life. I hope it is still as wonderful now as it was back then.

Horrible program. Even the vision/bridges program, which even houses foster kids, treats everyone like a prisoner and a criminal. Staff is verbally abusive and use their power over the girls to make their lives hell. We once spent a whole night doing fire drills because they decided that, despite the fact they woke up from a dead sleep and no one was fully concious, and despite the fact were NOT allowed to run at any time, that we werent moving fast enough and we didnt need any more sleep. Their on-site doctor was too stupid to recognize bronchitis, verbally abusing me every month I came back because I couldnt breathe. I now have PERMANENT LUNG DAMAGE Additionally, while I was there, one of the girls were SEXUALLY ASSAULTED in their care and SHE was punished for being RAPED. Worst place Ive ever been forced to live. Id only ever send people I despise here.

25 years ago I was placed in Vista Maria. At the time I was a 15 year old scared teen. I lived with my extreemely abusive father and mother. Once I was in Vista Maria nothing matered just that I was in peace no more abuse. All the staff there were all amazing. I loved the care and therapy they gave me. Then I was placed in a foster home I was a young mexican american who thought nobody wanted me. But Then came in the best foster mom there could be since that day my life started changing and for the best. Now 25 years later im a mom of 5 yes 5 with my amazing husband and full of life. Thank you Vista Maria for giving me the chance of fully living life normally. Also thank you my foster care worker Thursda Mathews she couldnt be more amazin, caring and PATIENT with me. Thank you.....
