Comment: Made the honest mistake of charging my Polestar here. The machine took my credit card and there was no reason to think it wasn’t available for public use. When I came to pick the car up there was a note on my car saying it was a private charger (it was a photocopy so clearly not the first time someone has made this mistake) and I apologized. My issue is that the employee who came out to yell at me was mean and rude. For zero reason. I immediately apologized and he kept repeating “youre lucky I didn’t have your car towed. I was about to block you in.” No reason for that. Also, put up a damn sign!

Comment: I recently purchased a used Volvo certified 2022 XC60 from Volvo Cars Carlsbad sight unseen on the internet. By the description and pictures on Carfax, it was the car I wanted. The car was offered at a reasonable price and was optioned perfectly with the Polestar Engineered package and Extended Range equipment which are not exactly common. It was a bit nerve-wracking to think of buying a car out of state that Ive never seen from people Ive never met, but Michael Page and Steve Campbell at the dealership were excellent to work with. They made the deal happen as quickly as it can with 1,200 miles between us with no pressure or typical aweful car sales techniques. I put my faith in the Volvo used certification, and that was a sound decision. The car was as immaculate as a 16K mile car can be and exactly as described. Michael also took a number of additional pictures for me at my request. For a reasonable cost, they even handled the transportation to my home. The vehicle is fantastic in every way and the unconventional buying experience was refreshing. Ive worked many new and used vehicle deals in my life and this was a top three experience for sure. It seemed like a gamble at the start. But in the end it paid off. Thank you Michael and Steve and the whole Volvo Cars Carlsbad team! Keep up the good work.

Comment: Long story short, I brought my car in here for repair for rat damage, it took them 5 weeks of constant broken promises, expenses for countless rental cars out of my own pocket, and not a cent of ownership or personal responsibility on their part If you want to waste thousands of dollars and weeks of your time take your car here and work with Frank.More details:I had damage to my car from rats moving in and eating coolant lines, the insulation in the hood liner, and electrical lines. Frank said they would get right on it but they were short staffed so it might be a few days. After a few followups to see where things were Frank said they were working on my car. I’d been traveling, so needing a rental car wasn’t that big of a deal at the time. 2 weeks in and there was still zero explanation about what was going on, just that they were working on it. I began inquiring about loaners, which Frank said they’d take care of for me when one got back.More lies and broken promises later I was finally informed what needed replacing on the car and contacted my insurance company who quickly authorized the repairs.Those repairs took an additional 10 days.I finally showed up to get my car back having never received any rental help or loaner vehicle despite Franks many promises that I would have one.When checking out, I asked if there was anything they could do for my pain and suffering of their horrible customer service. Frank said there was nothing he could do. I’d received an email just recently from Volvo for 10% off service, and he wasn’t even willing to offer me that. How could the customer service rep not know about a promotion they were running; or be willing to take an ounce of responsibility for failing to meet the expectations he himself set?On top of that they didn’t even fix all the problems. When I attempted to contact them about it they made me wait a month before bringing it back in and then had the nerve to tell me I needed to pay $210 for them to diagnose the problem. I know the problem, it was taking my car here in the first place.Had Frank said, “We’re slammed and I can’t get to this for a few weeks” I would have understood and taken the appropriate steps to find an alternative. But he didn’t, he continually lied to me having no intention to do anything but to waste my time and money.

Comment: Honestly one of the most positive car buying experiences. I was shopping around for a pretty specific model and trim when I found a CPO at this dealership. I spoke with the sales associate, who was genuine in their communication and also respectful of my time. When I shopped around a bit more I came down on the CPO they had in stock, and when the sales associate wasnt available the day I could come in, I worked with the GM to secure and structure a deal to my liking. The process was straight forward with their financing specialist, and the dealership add-ons were reasonable and provided additional peace of mind. They worked to make the most of my time driving down from LA so I didnt have to spend hours finalizing the deal. The GM kept his word on all deal points, and followed up to make sure all was satisfied in the end.Remarkable customer service. While I would have imagined myself as just moving a unit kind of sale, they really took time to make me feel like a proud new owner of a Volvo product. Not to mention that they even sat with me after the sale to make sure to help set up the car and walk me through the new features :-)End to end satisfaction guaranteed.

Comment: These guys have been great to our family. We bought a 2016 XC90 from them certified preowned back in 2019 with 40K miles on it. We financed it over 36 months and Johnson was great and got us in our new vehicle with a great rate without delay. My one regret was not pulling the trigger on the extended warranty. Being our first luxury vehicle, we’ve been shocked at the cost of repair when things do go wrong, but the service guys have gotten us in quickly and taken really good care of us. Alan runs a great team and Albert and Frank have always been quick to call with status updates while our car has been in the shop for repairs. They took great care of us on an AC repair that required a couple trips in due to multiple part failures and were empathetic with our frustration on it not getting resolved fully the first time around. They wash the car after each service and make sure you leave completely satisfied. Good team here at Volvo Carlsbad!

Day before appointment they call, tell me their technician is out sick. No problem, I schedule a new service appointment for 1 week later.Day of new service appointment I drive 40 minutes to the Volvo dealer. Arrive to be told that the technician was out sick, again. Their service employee tells me he had called me. There is no missed call or message on my phone.Ask to speak with the manager. Service Manager apologizes but is very dismissive of the issue. Claiming that they only have one person certified and What do you think we should do about it?We engage in a back and forth where the attitude of the manager is essentially that there is nothing that can be done People call out sick. And that electric vehicles are new so they only have one technician and, something, something about Covid.This is a $60,000 vehicle. Volvo needs to equip their certified dealerships with the appropriate level of staff to service electric vehicles. The Carlsbad location in particular needs to manage customer expectations, apply budget to hire and certify more technicians to service the vehicles that we are paying premiums for.In addition, approach the issue from the customers perspective, dont call me day-of the appointment after the appointment time to tell me the vehicle cant be serviced and then argue and ask me, the customer, how you should run your business.Now I have to drive around with a propulsion system warning not knowing if the vehicle is going to malfunction on a freeway, because this local dealership and Volvo at large are happy to market and sell you a vehicle of the future but dont seem interested in the appropriate investments to maintain those vehicles.Unacceptable. Do not come here.

Ill always buy Volvos, because the safety of my teenage driver is priceless and Volvo international reordered and delivered a brand new vehicle to my door. And upon asking if there was somewhere in particular I should park it (pending inspection) the service manager was just as rude and unhelpful as he was during all the repairs we needed. I wasn’t going to review them as Volvo USA did agree it’s a lemon and organized a buyback - but someone needs to point out to the Volvo dealership staff that treating customers politely and with respect is important - I could have left thinking positive things about Volvo but instead I’ll tell anyone and everyone of my awful experiences at both Carlsbad and Escondido.

Comment: The GM here is extremely rude. He doesn’t even attempt to have any customer service skills. I realize the industry has changed dramatically but there is no reason not to be kind to customers walking in ready to spend thousands of dollars on something. In addition we called this dealership with an EXACT vin number for a car we wanted to see, they said yes come see it today. We drove 45 min in the rain with our two young children to get there and be shown a different car. We pressed to see the one we requested and they said oh sorry the general manager has it at his house and he lives too far away. We went the next day and there was absolutely no remorse from the GM, just “yah things happen”. The GM proceeded to tell us he got the charger from the car we wanted stolen from HIS house so the dealership is in the hole now since they have to pay for a new charger. Overall just avoid this place if you don’t want to deal with additionally rudeness during a process that is already stressful now days. We ended up going to the San Diego Volvo and our experience was amazing there.

Comment: Carlsbad Volvo was a 5 star experience all the way. I called on Sunday to see if they had any small hybrid SUVs in stock to test drive and they had 1, which was shocking in and of itself. When I arrived, I was introduced to Michael, who took me on the test drive and gave me a lot of information on the car. I had a lot of questions as I’ve never had a hybrid before but he answered them before I had even asked most of them. I wasn’t planning on buying a car that day but they gave me a price I was happy with PLUS they actually had a car I could take home that day (a rarity in this post Covid world) so I wound up starting the day in a 2013 Altima and ending it with a 2023 Volvo XC60 hybrid plug in parked in my garage. Michael even found me a Costco discount AND a discount through my employer that I wouldn’t have even known to ask for. Since then I’ve stopped in twice with a couple questions specific to the car itself since it has a lot of technology I wasn’t familiar with coming from an older model car and everyone there has been so nice and helpful, making sure I understand and am happy with my purchase. Carlsbad Volvo is phenomenal and I’m so glad I’ve become a customer. Thanks, Michael and everyone else involved! You’re awesome!

Comment: My buying experience is great with Michael Page at Volvo Carlsbad. He is very knowledgeable about Volvo cars in general which is a great thing to start with. I’ve been looking around for 3row suv for a while and I’ve been to other luxury brands for test drive. Some salesman there are too busy making money they can’t even answer basic questions (like how many gear in transmission) about their car. The experience here is different. Even with car shortage nowadays, they don’t do markup to take advantage. Scandinavian Interior design is also to my taste. People are calm and helpful here, they don’t rush you to decide but they are pretty efficient and pushing themself to get everything done quickly. I’m happy with my first Volvo car so far!

Shes taken it several times and theyve charged tons of money but hadnt addressed or fixed any of the issues. They have lied and condoned significant problems with the vehicle and wont acknowledge anything. She ended up going to the Volvo off Convoy in San Diego and they took care of her. There was over 4k of parts/labor that needed to be repaired which was all under warranty. They had her car for over a month and supplied her with a rental free of charge. Please stay away from these crooks in Carlsbad if you ever need maintenance or servicing. Volvo corporate should have this place shut down to salvage their reputation.

Comment: Unfortunately, I am updating my review from 5 stars to 1 star. I loved this place…until I had to take it in to be serviced. A month or so ago, my driver side window would not roll up. After several attempts to get it back up, my husband and I noticed the top of the door panel was moving up with the window as it tried to close, which was preventing it from rolling up all the way. But it was also disconnecting the door panel from the door! After that happened, the door panel seems loose and constantly rattles. It also feels loose when pushing on it or when closing the door.I made an appt, which was 3 weeks out. Dropped my car off at 8am. Received a call from Frank at around 2:45pm to tell me multiple people drove the car and don’t hear anything. I explained to him in detail about the issue and that the rattle wasnt the only concern (3rd person I explained it to on their service dept.). He said the only other way to determine an issue would be to remove the door panel but there wasn’t enough time to do that unless I wanted to leave my car over the weekend. They had my car all day at this point. After an extremely rude conversation with Frank, he offered to drive it one more time and call me back.It’s now 4:15pm and I haven’t heard from him but pickup is at 4:30pm. I called back and was told by Frank that there’s nothing they can do and that the door panel was removed but they found nothing wrong. Funny because I thought there wasn’t time for that! Anyway, I picked up my car, the diagnostic on the invoice states nothing about the door panel being removed, and sure enough the door panel is still loose! I truly feel Frank lied to me because he didnt want to deal with it.I called a few days later and spoke with Allan, the Service Manager. He was worse to speak with than Frank was, which is hard to imagine. He was basically accusing me of lying and talked to me in a way I cant explain. So rude and unhelpful. Ive never been spoken to or treated this way by someone in a position such as this one.They have lost my business for good.

Comment: At my first visit to this dealership I spoke with the sales manager, he was very friendly and didn’t rush me, he was very pleasant to talk with. On my second visit I met with the salesperson Alex to discuss different cars and leasing options. She was great!!! We liked the XC40 Recharge that was sitting out front so Alex let us take it for a ride along the beach.We decided to lease the car and it was such a smooth process from there. Alex sat with us in the car to show us how everything worked and then explained how to plug in the charger and how to search for charging locations. The paperwork took 15 minutes and we were out the door with our new car.I had to go back to have a software update which they couldn’t get to right away because of sick technicians, but they gave me a loaner. I dealt with Allen the service manager and Frank, both of them made sure I was taken care of and explained everything that was done to my car in detail.If you’re in the market for a Volvo this is the place to go, ask for Alex and tell her I sent you.

Comment: I just wanted to check in really quick to give my appreciation for the entire process at Volvo Carlsbad. I am somebody that goes through used car purchases fairly regularly, definitely more than the average person. Everybody at Volvo was great. Michael Page was a great front line salesman that was very calm and relaxed and did not give off even the slightest hint of a slimy or aggressive salesman. I cannot remember the finance managers name, however once the agreement was made, I was out of the door in, I believe, less than 30 minutes (that really speaks volume when finalizing a deal, you know that they give you priority). He was very professional with his paperwork and you can tell he knows his business. They were not pushy by any means and they did not include 101 different hidden values that made things difficult. It was extremely easy to get to a position where we were both very satisfied. That is how it should always go. However, maybe because of my personal semi-frequent car purchasing experience, I can easily tell who are the good sellers in the game. Again, thank you Carlsbad Volvo. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase and I will absolutely recommend your department for anybody looking for a vehicle. I am sure I will be back one day in the future! Comment: Allan the service manager and Miguel accused me of lying to cover up what seemed like their mistake. And they would bully you to just accept their twisted version. Even to the point of threatening not to release the car.My wife, 10-month-old baby, mother in law and niece were driving on Sept 13, 2021 to Legoland. On a stop, the stop/start feature kicked in. But the vehicle would not start again. It lost power and started rolling downhill. My wife did everything to start the vehicle but nothing happened. She also could not stop the car, the breaks had no power. They were literally seconds away from crashing when she was able to stop the vehicle by putting the shift on park and forced the transmission to submit and stop the car. It was a terrifying incident that can happen to anyone with a Volvo. I had the car towed to Volvo Carlsbad.The initial diagnosis was the alternator and they said they would keep the vehicle for a bit since the part takes time. After a few days, they called me and said the car will be ready today or tomorrow with the new alternator. I relayed more information during that call that I remembered. I remembered that at times over the summer, the vehicle would not start right away randomly. Sometimes Id have to turn the knob 4-5 times before it would start. I said I just assumed it was a slow computer. Miguel said I am glad you said that. It could be a starter issue thats going bad.A few more days and they called me and said the car was ready. I asked what was replaced. The starter. I asked, what about the alternator? They said they never said anything about an alternator. And they kept with that lie to the end because they got caught. And they accuse my of pushing a lie. Hey, I just want to make sure the alternator is ok because you mentioned it needed to be replaced at the beginning.Here are my concerns:1. I am concerned about being accused of lying because they claim they never mentioned an alternator issue when it was clearly communicated by Miguel last week and last Monday. They even said the part was in order. Are they trying to cover up a mistake?2. I am concerned that they could not provide proof of diagnostics that it was a starter when I asked.3. I am concerned they cant even provide a diagnostic code.4. Yes, I am concerned that this highly dangerous car incident could happen again because the Volvo service was not thorough and the diagnosis was inconsistent. It feels like they just replace the parts based on my verbal description of the incidents. What if it happened on one of the San Diego streets with steep incline.Anyway, stay away. They are not ethical and they bully you to accept a lie they perpetuated but cant get out of.

Comment: After recent warranty service, I discovered that the technician had incorrectly re-installed the seat airbag and damaged multiple parts of the interior (see photos) without noticing or fixing them. Had I not checked the dealer’s work, we would be driving our family vehicle with a trapped airbag set to explode inside our seat.Long story short: Recognizing that the situation with the Service Manager was beyond salvage after several interactions, I waited until the vehicle was repaired and out of their hands before submitting this review. The new Service Manager confessed himself that things had been “running like this for 20 years.” I would discourage anyone from trusting Carlsbad Volvo with any further business for both safety and quality of service reasons, and instead go to Volvo Cars San Diego.---- Details ----Over the course of multiple days, I spoke with and left messages with a service advisor about the airbag installation issue, expecting an urgent response to correct an obvious safety liability. After waiting 2 full days, I called and emailed the General Manager, which finally resulted in a service call from Allen, the Service Manager. The conversation was sincere and I was reassured that the issues would be corrected immediately. Allen confided that he was new to the dealer, trying to improve things, and the service department had been “running like this for 20 years.”I made clear in an email to the GM and Service Manager that this was a serious breach of trust in their ability to ensure their customer’s safety and satisfaction. I hoped that further conversation with them would rebuild trust that they seriously acknowledged the various points of failure (quality of technical work, maintaining vehicle condition, customer communication). Unfortunately while the dealer did correct the workmanship issues, further interactions with the Service Manager proved that they are not to be trusted again with my business or family’s safety.When asking for an explanation of why it took 2+ days to acknowledge the airbag issue, Allen replied that getting back to me was a high priority, but there were other “higher priorities.” This is an unacceptable answer for what should have been a 3 minute phone call after giving a customer an unsafe vehicle. In general, Allen’s inconsistent customer service is unsettling, ranging from sincere to dismissive, contemptuous, and unprofessional.In an effort to deflect responsibility and point blame to the customer, the dealer claimed that my removal of a seat-back panel is why the “Master” level technician (who doesn’t know how to re-install an airbag or replace other parts he damaged) may have damaged the car’s interior while removing the seat. Given these allegations, I asked to discuss the details and examine the vehicle together when I brought it in. The Service Manager Allen was dismissive, claiming he’s “not an expert” in the details and “we’re fixing the issue anyways.” By comparison, I’m an experienced engineer in mechanical design and assembly that wanted to discuss the visible evidence contradicting their claims. However, the dealership couldnt substantiate claims that are, by definition, their expertise and would rather lose me as a customer.

Comment: After several pictures,videos and phone conversations,I made a deposit, rented a car that they were going to cover and drove 6 hours to pay cash for a used vehicle. The vehicle was as described inside an out until I looked under the hood and saw all the rust and oxidation that was never mentioned or confirmed when asked prior to making the deal. I was assured this was the cleanest vehicle ever seen.i agreed to take it for a drive and the battery was dead.after jumping it the check engine light and track light was on, the vehicle had no power to take it for a drive, I pulled out and immediately turned around and call the deal off. Comment: Engine code = $2000 of sensor replacements. Walked out. A local private guy said I didnt need either one, reset the codes and the car has run fine for a year - check engine light is off.This service dept will ring up max money on every visit. DONT GO HERE. GO TO A LOCAL NON DEALER VOLVO REPAIR AND SAVE THOUSANDS!

Comment: Purchased a beautiful Volvo from Carlsbad in late July. No pushy, sleazy sales tactics. Very straight-forward dealings. Fair price. Beat my Credit Unions interest rate. Received excellent car explanation prior to leaving the dealership. A very pleasant experience, all-in-all. Bonus was the lovely location for a coastal test drive!

Comment: Never had a bad experience at this dealership. The staff that I have met were all professional, friendly and knowledgeable I currently drive an 850GL and would trust my repair work to be done there. I recommend Carlsbad Volvo.

Comment: Recently purchased a 2011 XC60 from Carlsbad Volvo. This is the 9th Volvo we have purchased and first time from Carlsbad Volvo. Overall had a great experience with this dealership. Worked with Sam in sales and he was wonderful, not the typical pushy salesperson we have dealt with in the past. Sam worked with us through all aspects of the sale, communicating well and keeping us informed, since we had a few extras installed. When we purchase our next Volvo, we will definitely come back to Carlsbad Volvo.

Comment: My fiance and I just purchased a used black Volvo this year and we love it it is so reliable,drives well and is just a great car. We needed some help on info for an additional vehicle and since we love our Volvo we are planning on getting another one! I called Carlsbad Volvo and asked a saleswoman (I believe Alex) for her suggestions and not only was she extremely knowledgeable,kind and friendly she wasnt the typical pushy carsales style she actually cared about what we needed for upgrades and when we do get our new Volvo it will be at Carlsbad Volvo with her. Im hoping its the cute new convertible too:) Itll be great for summertime and the beach!

Comment: Ive dealt with Mike a coupla times. Just recently with my newly acquired XC. Not really a fan of dealership experiences anymore but this place holds it together as far as sales is concerned. Of course the Volvo product requires no lift here. Great cars. Mike went out of his way to get me the vehicle I wanted. Strongly recommend this place.
