Comment: Recently went to the dealership again and was greeted by Lily who is super friendly, making sure I knew where to go. Was guided to see Klaus, who took care of my vehicle and checking me in. I met Arnold, the service manager. Super friendly and helpful and explained what was going on with my car. I was in and out within two hours.They have a waiting area, which is comfortable with all the snacks, coffee and sparkling water.They were super accommodating, taking me in at the last minute. Thank you once again for servicing my car.Also, when I got my car back, they did a great job washing it. Typically, Ive gone to other dealerships where they wash it without drying it and state its a waterless solution, but leave spots.They actually wiped down your car. Its like going to a car wash.

Comment: I have been going there since 2017 mainly bc i had bumper to bumper warrantee, my honest thoughts are: Although they do seem to know what they are doing, they know all the games to play to get the most out of you/insurance co. w/o doing work completely going around problems so u frequently return with same issues over and over again & added ones. If you get on them the job will b completed if u have warrentee they hold car for ever meaning weeks to months but who has the time for that? Now that i let the warrentee expire instill have same issues along w/added ones. They sold me a Lemon from day 1 which im pretty sure that was the reason they added the bumper to bumper insurance bc who does that? I should have known better.. the cost is way too high they say 277/hr labor but that is also for each diagnosis 1. oil light on 2. Look at battery 3…. See how that can add up? Doesnt matter how simple the list of things we see wrong. It’s like 277 for both? And they lie about how long it actually takes lol a job that we know they didnt take longer then 2-3hrs tops will have labor of 1200? Also i always notice my gas is always gone the miles on car are high when they have it ik they use it for who knows to pu lunch take it on trips ? Idk..The guys who work as service coordinators try their best to help you but the Mechanics need to make as much as they can they dont deal with customers so they dont care who they burn. Bottom line is they can garentee the work but way over priced if u dont have a warrentee do not go unless u wish the toss money away

We took it back and were told… wait for it…. that it was OUR FAULT and were told to pay thousands to fix it.They then kept the car for ANOTHER 5 MONTHS.We refused to pay for the fabric repair and for the car back, only to find that 1000 miles had been put in the car and the air conditioner was broken.We wrote to them to ask to fix the air conditioner and were told they didn’t touch the air conditioner and this was our problem.WWWTTTFFF

Comment: If I could give zero stars, I would. Last year, our engine light kept coming on, despite several visits to Volvo Santa Monica. They finally took the car in at the beginning of May. We didn’t receive the back until mid November. We got it back, We immediately noticed The ceiling fabric hanging down. It was literally in my son’s face in the backseat. We took the Volvo in the next day, and they held onto the car for five months, refusing to acknowledge that the rip in the fabric and happened on their watch, and asking us for thousands of dollars to repair it. In the end, we decided to take the car back without them fixing the fabric. Return the car we realize that the AC was now not working. Again, they refused to acknowledge that this had happened on their watch, after having our car for almost a year. They offered to run diagnostics on the car, that we would, of course have to pay top dollar for. The speedometer also showed that the car had been driven 1000 miles on their watch!! They told us it has been driven for our benefit for an oil check. 1000 miles. After all this, we have decided to take legal action. I advise you to stay well away from Volvo Santa Monica.

Comment: I brought my EV 2023 car in for some electrical work and it took two weeks. They were kind enough to give me a loaner and I appreciate the work they did on my car but when I picked it up, there was a slight knick in the paint on the front bumper. Photos showed my car came in without it so the damage was done there on site. Since then, I have reached out to them numerous times and they have ignored my request to communicate. However, they want me to review them so here is my review. Klaus and Johnny provide average customer service and are very poor at communicating and following up with customers.Also, during my visit someone stole some items out of my car. They weren’t of great value, but they were my items and they belonged to me and I should not have anybody from Volvo of Santa Monica stealing from me. I spoke with Ram in sales and he said he’d get back to me. I’ve left two messages for him and I’m about to leave a third but he doesn’t seem to want to communicate with me either.So, just know if you go there you’re going to receive very average customer service, a lack of communication and items might go missing from your car. I think this is a reflection of the ownership of Volvo of Santa Monica and I would appreciate speaking directly to the owners of Volvo Santa Monica! Unfortunately, getting a new car has cost me over 10 hours of downtime with the car in the shop. Appointments scheduled with repair mean you have an appointment to wait in a long line of cars to maybe get the work done that day. Everyone is working hard but there are not enough people who are trained in the workings of the car computer. Loaner cars are not readily available. Apparently, the glitches in the Volvo computer system have been the reason for my taking the car into the shop. Anticipating, sadly, more incidents like this one in the future and hope Volvo is ready for them.

Comment: Avoid This Dealership at All Costs!I recently had the misfortune of dealing with this Volvo dealership, and I must say it was one of the worst experiences Ive ever had.From the moment I stepped onto the lot, I had to deal with ignorant salespeople who were more interested in making a sale than actually helping me find the right car.The entire process was riddled with incompetence and unprofessionalism.The staff seemed clueless about their own inventory and couldnt answer even the most basic questions about the cars they were selling. It was clear that they cared more about their commission than ensuring customer satisfaction.To make matters worse, when I finally found a car I was interested in, the price they quoted me was outrageously high. It was clear they were trying to take advantage of me, hoping I wouldnt know any better.Overall, I would strongly advise anyone considering doing business with Volvo Cars of Santa Monica to steer clear. Save yourself the headache and find a dealership that values its customers and takes pride in its inventory.Trust me, youll thank me later.

Comment: I bought a gently used Volvo from this location over a year ago. I was hesitant to bring the car back for servicing because I was afraid of super high pricing. I needed new break pads and rotors, the 02 sensor changed, and a new wind shield wiper. I compare the pricing to two other places and Volvo was pretty much the same. 25% higher than one quote, and 25% lower than another quote. The difference is, Jose, the amazing service representative found out one thing was covered under warranty, which saved me over $900. Also they gave me alto car rides for my appointments for two days while they fixed the car. Jose was so professional, kind, and explained everything in detail. It was a great experience which will make me come back to them for sure, again and again. All the other criticisms of the service department I’ve read on here, don’t seem to align with the business I experienced. The team went above and behind, gave me fair prices, and acted in total integrity. For me, that’s better than saving $300. Thank you Jose, grateful for your help.

We called ahead of time and the sales person, Laynee was super helpful and informed us that the vehicle was still available. We arrived 45 minutes before closing time, negotiated a reasonable price….and we were on our way home within an hour of arriving! Laynee was so knowledgeable about everything that someone would need to know about cars/ and the purchase process. We never felt pressured. Such a sweet genuine person. (Hard to find when buying a car!) She even dropped off the car herself for us the next day, 25 minute drive in la traffic! Would highly recommend Volvo Santa Monica for a used or new car purchase.

Comment: To start I want to say that I really like Robert Munoz. I cant say a bad thing about him. Hes super cool, collected, even tempered and responsive.I came to this location because of the prices on the SM Volvo website which didnt turn out to be correct (should have been a red flag but he met half way so thats why its 3 stars).As far as servicing goes this location gets 2 starts from me.I took my old a** car in for an oil change the first week of March and decided to get the car aligned. I drove off the lot and the car was veering immediately to the right which was super stressful because it wasnt doing that to begin with. I sent a text and they reached out Monday to get me back in and see what happened.From the Saturday when the oil was changed to the Thursday when I took it back in there was an added 4k or so of things that were wrong. Which was really confusing because they handed me a paper at the end that highlighted a 4 point inspection that indicated NOTHING was wrong.So for something to come back 5 days later needing 4k of service seemed questionable. Why wasnt the vehicle inspected before the alignment was performed? The second report stated the lower control arms were worn and wouldnt take the adjustments. I dont think an entire inspection is necessary but if the lower control arms go hand in hand with alignment that should always be looked at before moving forward. They didnt magically become worn out in 5 days so had they bothered to check it on the first day they would have noticed this and not performed the alignment. This was a $200 expense that essentially went straight into the trash.There were so many things flagged I didnt know what should be done first. I went else where for a second opinion because at the end of the day, coming back here for the work to get done didnt sit well with me. I just couldnt justify returning to this establishment, where one week gives the vehicle 5 stars rating and then 5 days later says actually we didnt really check it thoroughly the first time and this is actually everything thats wrong. How can I trust that what you say will be in fact whats wrong when things didnt go well the first time.I was able to get it corrected at a different volvo dealer and saved 25% of their quoted cost. But flagging for others because youre not thinking about certain things when you walk in and ask for x so do your due diligence as an owner and if you request fora specific service, ask if something would impact it from functioning the way its supposed to. The mechanics here see the work order and arent putting two and two together so you have to.

They destroyed my engine, tried to bill me $18,500 for it, finally made a goodwill gesture to bring it down to $4500, kept my car in the shop for two months, then charged me six months later for the rental car they said they would cover while they waited for the engine lift to be fixed. For four straight business days, the manager was not in the office when I called to try to set things straight. Details below...My 2015 CPO Volvo was maintained exclusively at Volvo dealers according to all maintenance schedules, until I took it here in October for 70k service...which included opening up the cylinders to replace spark plugs. Two days later, I have an internal piston failure, requiring a completely redone engine block. Volvo SM refused to investigate what caused the failure, flat out rejecting even the possibility it could have been related to the service involving cylinder work, unless I was willing to pay another $3000 for a full tear-down.They originally tried to bill me $18,500 for the repair (FMV of my car at this point was ~14k). Eventually, I was able to get Volvo USA to offer a goodwill repair price of $4,500, which I paid. I picked my car up almost two months after bringing it in because, in their own words, their engine lift broke. I was ready to be done with the whole ordeal.Then, last week, I got charged $405 from Enterprise. I call Enterprise, and find out Volvo never paid for the rental. I called Volvo on 3/17, 3/22, 3/23, and 3/24 during regular business hours. Each time, I was told a manager was in and out of the office, but Ill let him know right away. I never heard back, so I decided to take it up with the credit card company.These guys will try anything to squeeze every last dollar out of you, then stonewall you when you call them out. Stay far away from Volvo Cars of Santa Monica -- they will prey on the unwitting consumer. Im starting with this review while I figure out the right consumer protection reporting channels.

That would be ok, except that the system allows customers to book service on Saturdays when they don’t have people available to perform the service. I drove all the way from Thousand Oaks to hear that from the service manager, really disappointing.By the way, during the warranty period, this is the 8/9 time that I have to bring my car to repair manufacturing issues. First the trunk would not close, order parts, wait weeks, return to fix it. Than it was the engine light, similar experience returning multiple times to dealer to have it fixed. And now the start/stop battery. Really disappointing. I love the car but my next vehicle will not be a Volvo

He was helpfull, friendly, and straight forward. One of my tiffs was with the money manager he brought down to speak pricing. He was fairly codescending. He did not know or care to explain how the money broke down. I asked questions about how the interest works and how i could compare what payements looked like if I didnt finance through them given thier almost 7% interest rate. His response, and I am paraphrasing here, if you love the car then the money will work out. That really grossed me out. I was asking how I could find a way to finance the car to buy it and he refused to teach me.I would still suggest this dealership over others. Expecially Century City. They were wayyyy worse. The guy at Santa Monica BMW was a joke and they were adding over $5,000 to the MSRP for literally nothing other than they think taking it off when talking money make you feel like you are getting a deal. That is just predetory.

Upon picking up the car my battery had been drained. When I dropped off the car I explained to him that I have a system which is attached to the battery installed by my previous mechanic to jumpstart my AC compressor. I guess Klaus totally ignored me, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt at the time thinking it was just his demeanour. In any case, they drained my battery and didnt really intend on helping me out with that. They didn’t even apologise. Not down for that. Not good service. No relationship built. Comment: It pains me to leave a negative review, especially after nearly 15 years of loyalty to Volvo. However, my recent lease experience with Volvo was less than ideal. After month of being relentlessly encouraged by Volvo to turn in my leased X60 early, I assume because of the hot used car market and they wanted to flip the car for another profit. I finally relented and turned in the vehicle 2 months early.I was assured I would not be charged the remaining 2 months of payments. When Volvo Santa Monica assessed and accepted my vehicle they didnt identify anything else that would cost me money. However, a week or so after turning in my vehicle I was charged my monthly payment and then another week later received a $3,400 bill for another monthly payment and myriad of other hidden charges.I tried multiple times to dispute the charges with Volvos US customer service, but was met with the proclamation that if I didnt pay in full by the due date I would be reported to their credit agency for collections.To preserve my good credit I am going to pay the bill and just move on to another brand of vehicle like Audi or Tesla, which is a bummer because outside of this experience Ive always loved Volvo and this was my 5th one.All that said, be weary if you choose to do business with Volvo. Ask all the questions and be diligent with hidden charges before you enter an agreement with them.

However, at Volvo Cars Santa Monica it was such a pleasant experience as the salesman Francisco and finance staff Youann were two of the most professional and educated staff i have ever dealt with while purchasing a new car. Francisco was very knowledgeable about all the features of the car, he was not pushy and just a pleasure to work with. Youann was also extremely smart and recommended the extra care protection package for the car which we found very useful and purchased. The receptionist was very kind and made sure we were comfortable by providing water and snacks during our buying experience. Comment: PLEASE STOP AND READ THIS, I dont like to write Bad reviews. Okay, I am from the Midwest visiting my in-laws in the Orange County area for a couple of weeks. While I was out here, I was planning on purchasing a 2014 or newer Honda Odyssey and shipping it back to my home state. I went to Volvo Cars of Santa Monica to look at a 2015 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite. There I was greeted by Joe Halpert who is the Pre-Owned Sales Manager. Joe made me and my friend feel like we are part of the family. Joe said they just took this vehicle in, It needed to go through the shop for all the used cars inspections before I could test drive it. After I test drove, Joe stated that the shop was going to replace a few things and also an Egr valve so it would pass Smog before its sold. After the purchase, Joe put me in touch with someone to arrange for the shipping, Joe also promised me that he would fill up a full tank of gas, have the vehicle detailed inside and out and send the manual book alone and the fob.When the vehicle was delivered, 1- The vehicle had 1/4 tank of gas, 2- No detailing was done on the inside or out, 3- The Manual or Fob wasnt sent. I was a little upset, less than 15 minutes after driving the Check Engine Light came on. I took the vehicle to my friends shop for the diagnostic of the Check Engine Light. He replaced a Canister Purge Valve solenoid which cost me about $300.00, which shouldnt have passed the Smog test so he did not do what he said. The Egr Valve and the parts Joe said they replaced were not replaced. To top it all off, they screwed up the paperwork, which cost me another $100.00 to FedEx the paperwork twice. After a couple of months emailing back and forth with Joe, the dealership reimbursed me for the repairs and 1/2 of the FedEx cost. I cant believe that a dealership runs a business like that. My advice to you is I WOULD STAY AWAY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP!

At this point we were very happy with the service we were receiving.In our situation we took advantage of an offer that allows you to turn your lease in a few months earlier as long as you select another Volvo vehicle. I SPECIFICALLY told Armin to make sure that we don’t get charged for our January payment due to this program. He assured me that there would be no problem. A few days ago the charge for the previous lease hit our account. My wife called him to discuss this and he could barely remember who we were and what the situation was. He then called us back after talking to his finance manager and said that we should have just cancelled the auto payment. Not once did he mention that we need to make sure to cancel our autopay with Volvo Financial. It felt like it was his first time ever dealing with an early lease terminationRachel the salesperson was supposed to email my wife the next day her contact information. To date we never received it. Armin was supposed to mail us plastic tabs for the front bumper license plate. Never received it. Left two messages with the General Manager two days ago. No call back. My wife was supposed to get a call back from Rachel yesterday as she had been off for the past couple of days. No call back. Needless to say we won’t be coming back here again and will not recommend them. And on my previous S80, the service department damaged the car, and wanted me to pay to fix it. Luckily I had extended warranty, and they still asked me to pay for the deductible. Sadly, theres no 0 star option. I called Volvo North America to complain, they already knew about the service manager by name. Obviously, not the first call they have had.

Comment: I went in looking for regular maintenance and an oil change on my Volvo Xc-70. When I picked up my car all of a sudden the air conditioning wasn’t working at all. Literally moments before I handed the keys over the air conditioning was working flawlessly, perfectly cooling the car in seconds. The regular maintenance took four hours and somehow the AC is totally shot by the end of it. I talked to the manager and assistant manager and both said that for no reason ACs just stop working and it was a coincidence. This AC worked frustratingly well up until this point and they expect me to believe that it suddenly stopped working, it all felt like a ploy to get me to spend a thousand or more to get it fixed. Now thanks to the Santa Monica Volvo I’ll just continue with the summer now without AC. This place is excessively expensive. Ask yourself before coming here if you want your car to be worse coming out of the service department than when it went in.UPDATE: I found out recently Ken the service guy who was working my case was let go, seemingly for joyriding peoples cars. Ask yourself if this is the type of place you want to trust with your Volvo

When questioned multiple times as to why this was necessary (it was not a strictly financial consideration) they never really gave an answer. There is no excuse for this type of misogyny, especially in 2020. I so deeply regret ever dealing with them.

Comment: If i could give negative stars I would. We purchased a fully loaded XC 90 and have had othing but problems. We had a leather issue and the deal;ership refused to fix it. We had to go to a different dealership and work with Volvo corporate customer care. The car had multiple problems and enbded up being in the shop for a combined 8 months in the first two years. Agaiin, it took Volvo corporate customer care and a legal threat to get a lemon law buy back. Then we were owed several thousand dollars from the dealership. They said they took catre of it and it took 8 months of hounding and further Volvo corporate involvement to get a check from the dealership. Then when it was for the wrong amount, I was told to go to corporate volvo, the dealership did what they were told to do. There could not be a worse experiewnce for a luxury vehicle. These people will not stand behind their product and will do everything in their power to save themselves a dime. Their are way to many dealers to risk this type of treatment. Do NOT buy a car here!!!!

Comment: Very poor customer service. I’d give zero stars if it were possible. When I bought my car at Santa Monica Volvo in January of 2018, I purchased an extended warranty that I could cancel for a refund of Any unused portion. As you can imagine, they were more than happy to take my money. They showed their true colors when I traded the car in and requested the pro-rated refund (as stated in the contract). They sent me from one person to another to try to cancel - no one was clear who was responsible for doing this. Carlos Gerpe told me he would handle it but instead he dragged his feet until I checked up on the progress. I had been told that he would use delaying tactics in hopes that I would forget because apparently that is common practice. Honestly I am so disappointed. I want to support local businesses, but I regret doing business with Santa Monica Volvo at all. And by the way, I asked Carlos Gerpe today what the status of the refund is. He told me it will take another 2-3 weeks. Shameful customer service. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else but here.

Comment: I am originally from Alaska. I had leased a Volvo XC 60 from Volvo of Santa Monica in California as some of my family was in California and I was traveling back and forth between 2 places. The leasing process was fine. However, as things happened my family decided to move out and since I had to honor the lease and I liked the car I decided to buy the car from them. My plan was to buy it from them and drive it up to Seattle and get it shipped from there. I called them 1 week in advance from Alaska to confirm that Ill be coming to buy out my lease and told them my plan of driving up to Seattle and getting it shipped from there. I took days from work and everything was planned as well. I talked to 3 people there who work there and explained my situation, my plan and asked if there is anything that is needed or wrong with the plan. I also told there is no Sales tax in Alaska and if that is a problem. They all were like Oh no, no problem at all with the situation and that I should just come in and we’ll be done within an hour and that all I needed was my driver’s licenseSo I go there and all the pricing and all was done which took about 4 hours. Then they still were charging me sales tax as if car touches California roads there’ll be sales tax or I get it shipped from their lot itself. This was news to me! I almost felt being black mailed into this deal at that point, after I had paid for the whole car in cash! I had been calling them for a week before talking to different people and why didn’t they think of this then. Only explanation is that they were not listening at all and were focused on just making their sale. I was left stranded with no plans to stay in California, no hotel booking, no plan for flight back also my shipping was planned to be done from Seattle so I had no hotel stay in Seattle as well. It cost me hundreds of dollars for on the spot booking for hotel (about 350) plus Uber (40), overnight flight to Seattle (about 400 may be more), hotel stay in Seattle (200) and about 1500 dollars more shipping re-arrangement from LA.I understood it is California rule to get the car Shipped from the sales lot to avoid Sales tax however they could have told this to me on time so I prepared accordingly. Also as I was getting it shipped the shipping company told me they give bill of lading upon delivery of car in Anchorage and not at pick up which would have been a week after pick up. But Volvo was adamant for bill of lading at pick of Vehicle from their lot. Although I explained How does it matter if they get the Bill 1 week afterwards, but they were so adamant that I had to change shipping company again and pay new company 600 dollars more! This has been a nightmare to buy from them. Also upon coming here I learn that since I had already had lease on my name I could have driven to Seattle without buying the car and gotten it shipped and could have bought it from Volvo in Anchorage and escaped all that hassle. Why didn’t they tell me about this option? They were so focused on getting their commission for the sale.This just doesn’t end there. Since I had paid off the vehicle completely I should have the title on my name and I haven’t received it yet. I have been calling their office for 2 weeks and not been helped at all. I have been trying to get hold of their Manager and even asked them to tell him to call back whenever he is here but they haven’t. I do not know what to do. They are just greedy, non-helpful, sales group. They pretend to be helpful but once sale is made its no business of theirs at all. Volvo prides up on sales services and has this foreign tours for people to make it an experience. So far all I’ve had is just disappointment and pathetic service.Too bad Volvo and even worse Volvo of Santa Monica

The vehicle constantly had issues, one mechanical problem after another that Volvo could NEVER fix! Not once did they ever reach out and offer to make it right! It became so bad, that we had no choice but to use the Lemon Law.Now the dealership refuses to pay the refund on our Gap Coverage Insurance and Volvo Increased Protection Plan, despite documentation that it is owed to us!Volvo corporate keeps passing the blame game, not standing by what was promised and defending shoddy dealerships like this one.Terrible business, horrible service and completely unethical! First, the number that shows up in their website is not Volvo, it is Masseratti, so when you call they transfer you to Volvo, which means waiting on the phone for about 5 minutes. If you are lucky a real person answers your call. My husband took my car on Saturday, they told him it was going to be ready the same. It was not. On Sunday 5 pm they left us a voice message saying it was ready, but the shop was about to close> We went to pick it up on Monday, but I could not take my car with me because they did not have my keys!!!!!!!! They lost my keys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comment: I was very disappointed when I took my car in for service here. As background, I have an older Volvo (2003 C70 - I love this vehicle) that I took in for a diagnostic when the check engine light went on. I had made an appointment and specifically asked the operator if she could guarantee a loaner to get to work (she said if I took a specific appointment time I would absolutely have this). From the moment I arrived, I felt that because my car was not new that I could expect secondary service - contrary to Volvos company values. The workers here literally went around my car in line to talk with the customer who arrived after me with a new vehicle, the simple diagnostic was not completed for 2 days, and the service team member reneged on the promise of a loaner car because mine was old. After deciding to go forward with my service here, they literally took a month to resolve the original issue. While Ken, my service team member, seemed to try his best and provided clear communication and updates - the fact remains that I had a terrible experience here, and hope that Corporate Volvo takes account of this review as this location failed to live up to the standards I had come to expect in my decade of Volvo ownership.

Jeff Williams the Porfolio Manager was very patient, and mostly due to him and Steve the Manager or Owner I purchased the vehicle. I have given 4 Stars as I had a very unpleasant experience with the Finance Manager - Carlos. On Monday or Tuesday (Dont recall) I called the dealership as my Bank who was financing the purchase, was not able to get the information required as the Finance Manager was off . I spoke to Melissa, who was excellent on the phone and promised to get the information to the bank the following day. Comment: I have now been to this dealership for service 3 times. My first experience was terrible but I have been happy with my two subsequent visits. On my 3rd visit, my service rep was not available when I arrived. Other service reps noticed that I had been waiting for a few minutes and took over the intake work. When I arrived to pickup the car, again my service rep was unavailable (looked like he was on the phone with another customer). Other reps saw me waiting and again took care of me. 1 point off for not being available twice (bad luck) but good job to the team for noticing me and picking up the work.

He even sat with us to make sure we fully understood all the numbers so we could be confident in our decision. I will add that the vibe and personality of Volvo Santa Monica is a cut above the rest; most experiences at dealers can be “salesman-y” and this was not the case at all; no pressure and gimmicks. I recommend them (better than Culver City Volvo).

Deeply disappointed with the lack of service and follow-through on nearly every level after purchase. I wanted to have a good experience, I even sent a referral (a friend who loved mine and decided to get an XC90) before all was settled with my own car. I am starting to wish I had not.They seemed to be professional when selling the vehicle, but found it impossible to maintain responsibility or make/return phone calls. In the end I am doing things myself that they had promised. After replacement of an interior door panel (which had a scuff which could not be removed on the day of purchase) I will likely have all work done at another dealer, and will lease elsewhere from now on. Comment: After spending 2 hours at MB down the street and finally giving up, I decided to head to Volvo to test drive the XC90. I have been looking at this SUV for a while driving around LA as it is a great looking truck. They immediately acknowledged us and informed us someone would be with us soon, since they were short staffed. Soon after, John the Internet Sales Manager came to help us and took us for a test drive. Man, oh man! I was amazed at many things, the interior, technology and smooth ride. It took less than 1 minute to tell John the numbers I had in mind and he put them all together. As a matter of fact, he was able to get me into a T6 AWD after I thought I couldnt afford it. The check out process did take a while, but I am now a proud Volvo driver. Great hassle-free service from this dealer!

Volvo Santa Monica came in at the best price by far, and I flew down from SF to pick it up and drive it home. They also saw that I was interested in picking up a die cast model of an XC90 for my 3 year old son, who loves cars. But, I forgot to buy it after finishing the paperwork on the car. Two days later I receive a voicemail from the team that they’ve placed a die cast car in the mail, and didn’t ask for me to pay for it. On my first visit, he spent hours with me learning about what I needed, talking about my options...the pros and cons based on what I wanted. He spent a lot of time taking me through the features and answering my questions about safety options, which was important to me having a young child. He also has fantastic route for a test drive that takes you through freeways to city streets to neighborhoods, so you experience the car in all L.A. environments.I went to a few dealerships that weekend, and Cornel was the only person who didnt email and text me every few days, which I felt was unnecessary because I wasnt going to forget who I visited.You should definitely ask for him when you visit the dealership.

Comment: Cornel was great to work with, low pressure and very responsive to emails. Gave a quote via email in response to my online inquiry and we set up an appointment. Went in and test drove the car. I ended up liking it a lot and then we talked numbers. After some negotiating (which I like to do) we agreed upon a number we could both work with. The entire transaction took about 3 hours with a lengthy test-drive.This is my first time in a Volvo, but Cornel and the staff at Volvo of Santa Monica made it a pleasurable experience. I would definitely recommend them.

Comment: John and Alyssa made the leasing process beyond easy. After a few emails and phone calls, they put together a deal that met my needs. After a quick drive to Santa Monica, John and Alyssa took in my 2014 XC60 on a lease return and had us on our way in no time. Buying a car has to be one of my least favorite things to do. I sent him some information electronically and the next day I drove over to volvo to pick up the car and sign papers. Comment: Was told that my warranty was being denied because Volvo of Santa Monica claims that trash under my seat caused an SRS light. When I asked for the physical evidence they claimed they threw it out. I guess they didnt think I would ask for proof. Honestly, who wouldnt. Paid a $370 diagnostic fee, and when I got my car back the service engine light was still on. What a day at Volvo of Santa Monica. Zeke is the guy in charge but hasnt spoken to me or reached out to me. Still waiting....

I brought in my three year old Volvo SUV that I had driven all the way from Toronto, Canada - the automatic arm of the trunk had broken. Oscar Romero was my service consultant and he helped me to get the entire repair covered on warranty. The whole team was friendly and courteous and the car was ready the very next day! I would definitely recommend their services to any Volvo drivers.

Comment: Ive been bringing my car to this dealership for maintenance and oil changes for two years. Ive always been very aware that dealerships can be a rip off and priced higher, but have never experienced anything shady per say. After this morning I will no longer be bringing my car here, I am blown away by their lies and shadiness! I had my boyfriend drop my car off for a standard oil change this morning, the same oil change I always get that costs $65. They told him the oil change was going to cost $210. I had him put Oscar who was helping him on the phone and asked why an oil change would be $210. He said the $65 price was a special that they dont have right now. I asked what does $210 include, just an oil change? So youre telling me every time Ive brought my car in for two years there just happened to be a special, but nobody ever mentioned anything about a special. He said yes. I told him that made no sense and I would call around and get an oil change somewhere else. I immediately called the Culver City Volvo dealership and asked how much an oil change was for my Volvo C30, they said $65. I told him the situation and he said the oil changes dont ever cost more than $65 and that was not a special price. In the meantime the Santa Monica dealership preceded to tell my boyfriend they would go ahead and give him the price of $69.95. I called Oscar back and told him my finding after calling Culver City and that I didnt appreciate them trying to rip me off. He continued to insist that the Culver City location was running a special, thats why their price was so low. I said so next time I bring my car back if theres no special youre going to try and charge me $210 again, he said no we made a note on your account. Umm, so you made a note not to try and rip me off because I know whats up!? I checked out Culver Citys website when I got off the phone and the special on oil change they show is actually $39.95 right now and clearly says $65 regular price. Anyways, dont bring your car here unless you want to spend more money that you dont need to spend, or if you do take your car dont talk to Oscar! RIP OFF! P.S. I see their responses to unfavorable reviews say were not sure if this is a real review. This is a real review, it happened today!

Comment: I have had my XC60 worked on at Volvo of Santa Monica and have been very happy with the professional quality of service advisors and technician. I recently had a safety issue on my car and they fit me in for an appointment even when I didnt have an appointment to check repair the safety issue and he technician also came out when they delivered my washed car and explain what the problem was and assured me it was safe to drive.I trust this dealership with my car and have always had pleasant experience for the past three years when I go in for service.. I have been at many dealership in the past because of all the driving, but I never have been as happy as I am when I have my car service at Volvo of Santa Monica.Thank you Volvo of Santa Monica Service and keep up the excellent work.

Comment: Very poor customer service. Disorganized. Put a deposit to order a car- an XC60 with specs that were not available locally. They asked for $4,000 to place the order. When we laughed and started to walk out, they said OK, OK, $2000. Like fools, we gave them $2000. They promptly cashed the check, but did not place any order. A week later we bought a BMW X5. Went to get our deposit back. but of course they could not process the refund on a Saturday. Tried again on Monday, but they couldnt find our order. After an hour of standing around, they finally found a record of our deposit, but again couldnt process the refund until the next day (we had to come back for a third time) because its a very long process, we cant just cut a check you know, it has to go to the main office and TWO of our VICE PRESIDENTS have to sign it. Got a little testy with one of the sales reps and used some foul language, and he just used foul language right back, lol. All-around ghetto experience. Dealerships like this should just die out, makes buying a new Volvo feel like buying a used Toyota from a shark. On a positive note, Sullivan (sales rep) was a nice guy, tried to help us. Suggestion: try Rusnak instead, much more professional

Very inconsistent sales pitch and semi disrespectful to my friend (female) who was the one buying the car. Negotiated a price after taxes and fees and on the way out to sort out personal finances, a manager rudely informed us that he had miscalculated tax and it was going to be higher. Would have bought the car if they had been more straight with us.

There about 2 sales men inside, they could gave you very good price and promise you everything over the phone, BUT remember all of words are lie, the only purpose is to cheat you to the dealership. The service there is junk. The sales agent will make up very crazy reasons for denying what they just promised you. A common strategy is the manager who approved the price just got fired, I saw this trick from previous review too, what a stupid poor guy. BTW based on my observation, this dealer has no customers all the day, so they will spend most of the time calling all the potential buyers. REMEMBER ALL THEIR WORDS ARE LIES, NEVER TRUST IT

Comment: We purchased a vehicle from Volvo of Santa Monica back in September of 2011. Within a week of purchasing the vehicle the coolant light began to come on. Took the car in to have them check it out, and was told that there was a computer issue. Went home and the coolant light continued to come on. Took it back in the following week and was told that there was a crack in the coolant reservoir, and that we would need to pay to have it fixed to the sum of almost $2000. After pleading my case that they sold the car to us with a broken coolant reservoir, they agreed to pay to fix the issue, and we subsequently paid almost $500 for maintenance on the car.Fast forward and the coolant light continues to come on, we take it back to Volvo of Santa Monica (currently under new ownership) and they determine that the coolant reservoir was never replaced to begin with. They offer to fix the issue, which we had to pay for $2800 and tell us that the car is as good as new. They had the vehicle for a month and upon dropping the car off, they offered us a loaner vehicle, they were out of loaner vehicles and informed us that they would pay for a rental from the nearby Enterprise Rent-a-Car. Enterprise took our credit card and charged a $300 deposit for the vehicle, which we had for almost 3 weeks due to the prolonged time it took to fix our vehicle. When we returned the vehicle the deposit was refunded to our bank account. This was all November/December 2012.Fast forward to April of 2013 and we are hit with a $300 charge from Enterprise Rent-a-Car of Santa Monica for the rental that Volvo of Santa Monica never paid for. It is now May 2013, and after various calls to both Enterprise and Volvo we are still waiting on a refund.If you need a Volvo please stay as far away from Santa Monica as you can. September 2011 our nightmare began, and we are continuing to pay for a luxury vehicle, that turned out to be no more than a lemon.Yes the dealership is under new ownership since we purchased our car, however those new owners have now thrown us into the middle of their battle with Enterprise and now we cant seem to get an answer about a refund on a rental we were told would be taken care of by Volvo
