Ive stayed at the Water Street Inn 5 of the 6 years since 2014. I generally go to the area for the Michigan Mountain Mayhem cycling event. I called to cancel the reservations for my bike club as the event will not be held due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I was charged a $25/room fee for canceling my reservation with more than 1 months notice. I have stayed in the past with 2 or more rooms each year. Keith Stark, the new manager of the Water Street Inn, has decided that he no longer wants me to spend my money there. He basically told me I shouldve purchased travel insurance. Not only did he not refund my money during a time when both my state (IL) and his state (MI) are under stay-at-home orders, but he insults me as well. Never again
Don’t know where to begin here. First of all was gouged for over $300 a night because of Super Bowl weekend even though it was 35 miles out of town and worth about $90. Secondly, this is what they refer to as “one of the oldest active hotels in the country, dating back to the 1890s.” Not sure its been updated since then. Cavernous cold lobby that looks like it was designed by a decorator from Tombstone replete with “drapery wallpaper.” Rooms were cheap, antique beds for couples from the early 1900s with mattress size somewhere between Full and Queen. No tables to put anything on. No fridge. No microwave. Coffee maker complete with ONE styrofoam cup. Jacuzzi tub probably installed in the 1990s that you couldn’t have paid me to sit in. Analog TV (do they still make those?). Breakfast was excellent in the hotel restaurant. Dinner was wretched with gray marbled prime rib and salmon cooked on the outside only and raw on the inside. Just a horrible experience. We left after the first night even though they refused to refund us the two nights not used. That should tell you how much we hated this place. Stay away.

2022-01-19What a wonderful spot to enjoy a getaway! With a waterfront view and lovely balcony to relax, its cozy gas fireplace to make it right for any season, immaculate cleanliness (and we’re fussy!) this is a perfect setting for you. We love the kitchen utensils to cook and eat in room… or delicious options to restaurants just steps away. And Boyne City provides a centrally located base to go further north to Charlevoix, Petoskey or the tunnel of trees; or south toward Bellaire and the breweries, and scenic ski spots. Our last stay put us there during Michigan’s fall color change and wow!We prefer the one-story units, but if you don’t mind stairs, the third floor condos with the bedroom/bath upstairs overlooking Lake Charlevoix are also awesome.Freshly remodeled rooms, and a Covid-safe environment remind us to make our 2022 reservations soon. See you there!

2020-10-12Enjoyed an excellent 2 night stay in apartment 215. The booking, check in and check out were easy. Central location so we could walk to restaurants. Private little beach area. Stunning views of the lake. Only bad thing was sooooo many spiders, however it is the time of year for them and nothing to do with the staff or building.

2017-06-18A beautifully kept and classy little resort. It can be difficult to find a condo or vacation rental for one or two nights in the summer. This lovely association accepts short reservations. We very much enjoyed our stay!

2014-01-29Excellent location, clean rooms, friendly staff.I stayed here for 3 days in July 2013. Rooms were very comfortable and reasonably priced. Opening the slider to the balcony allowed me to listen to the waves on the beach while getting a nice breeze through the room.

2017-09-13Extremely nice and roomy for the price, and the view is excellent. Only hitch is to not forget your key code for the front door after normal business hours, or youll have a hard time getting in without an attendant at the front desk. Check in is at 4pm which can cause to some traveling and planning issues.
