This (9/16/21) visit is the 7th time we have stayed at the Weathervane. We absolutely love this place. The view combined with the easy walk into town make it the perfect place to spend our vacation. The room is always clean, and for the 10 days we are here, it feels like home.
Great location and throwback room decor. I say don’t update except maintain. The exterior is to be desired but considering the harsh winter elements this is probably a challenge. Loved the layout of the room. Third floor ‘hall’ was too warm with patio doors closed. Nice pool with privacy from public.
The hotel setting is great, the Location is perfect, But I was disappointed with how out dated our room(100) was. I thought we were getting a nicer hotel and this wasnt the case. I felt that our room was more econo lodge/motel 6. Overall we enjoyed it, but probably wouldnt stay again.
Hands down one of our favorite locations to stay when in the area. Walking distance to restaurants and shops downtown. The suite’s come with a beautiful fireplace and patio at a reasonable price! We can’t wait to stay again, the staff is always so friendly and accommodating. I would recommend to stay here!
This is a great hotel. It had great prices and the rooms were big. Each had a small kitchen in them so great for family or two friends. The pool is a little small but that was just because of social distancing. Great restaurants right at the end of the drive. Local beach is close. Several great restaurants within walking distance. Great local attraction within short drives.
The hotel was nice. We liked that there was only 2 floors & no elevators. Our room number 20 had a kitchenette. The bathroom had updated granite countertops & the kitchenette was nice too, had laminate counters. Room was spacious & clean. It appears to be an older hotel. Our only complaint was that the bathroom towels, every one of them, were stained. They need to use those as rags or throw them out! We loved the location, walking distance to shopping & restaurants in Charlevoix.
My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay! The room was really nice. The staff was great. Good breakfast with large selection of things to eat. Beautiful view and walking distance to everything! Came here in the winter and really enjoyed the fireplaces! Everything was clean. They have a big selection of DVDs if you want to watch a movie in your room. I was a bit leary about nice how this place would be reading the reviews before we came but I was 100% happy. Maybe theyve done some updating since the other reviews (?) since the breakfast was good and the rooms were up to date and clean. Will be back for sure!
Staff was friendly, n Im not trying to hurt the business at all, maybe just motivate them to clean better cuz for the price Im paying I rly didnt appreciate having to kill a bunch of tiny black spiders. Oh, not to mention I had to clean the spiderwebs off the lamps by the bed n the desk. Theres blood splatter by the mirror, n thankfully we realized there was blood or some other body fluid on the blanket of the bed we were gonna sleep in, along with some sort of splatter by the sink n previous guests leftover garbage
My mother and I booked for two nights. The first night we were in room 3, which has terrible water damage on the walls and ceiling. There were many dead spiders in the bathroom and It looked like the shower was never cleaned because there were hairs in it. We informed the front desk we were not happy and were moved to another room the next night. This room didn’t have water damage but the wallpaper was peeling. Overall not impressed and expected a lot more for the price. Will not return.
We got the jacuzzi suite and are very glad we did! The view of the downtown and Round Lake were very pretty and the room was very large. Full kitchen, nice patio, very large living room, huge bed, and the jacuzzi is great! The staff is very friendly and helpful as well. Great location for walking around the town. Everything is nice and close and you can get great views of Lake Michigan as well! Weve had an amazing time and would love to come back in the spring or summer!
Spiders and water bugs in the bathroom everyday! It was like camping but paying too much for the room. Wallpaper coming off the walls in room 3. Patio has not been cleaned in a lonnnng time, so many spiders and the furniture was dirty.NO WIFI, it’s a joke, it cuts out every 5 minutes. We asked everyday about the WiFi and they said it should be working. No breakfast, not sure why they could not do what other hotels are and make a prepared bag of breakfast bag or reduce the cost of the rooms. The good - pool was nice, plenty of parking, and AC worked great. Location to the town and the beach is great.Bottom line - I would not stay here again.
Me and boyfriend stayed there this past weekend, and we absolutely loved it. The rooms were clean, the bed was very comfortable to my surprise. The staff was very polite and professional. We had some trouble with starting our car while staying there and the staff was more than helpful, they got someone to help us within minutes. We will be coming back again next year!
Quaint motel. Enjoyed our stay. Staff was friendly. Rooms are dated, but spacious. Convenient location. Terrace to look at beautiful frozen lake and a fireplace in our room were lovely features. Parking lot was full of deep icy puddles, snow and was dangerous. Parking seemed limited. Would return in another season.
Too bad you cannot rate it negative One!!!. This hotel is a ripoff! They want $300/night in a dirty drive up motel. Worst hotel I have ever stayed in.Dirty carpet, shower, floors creak, TV is tiny. Couch/chairs are dirty. Great location...need to tear it down and build a real hotel. Not even worth $50/night. Left immediately the next morning.Thank god they didnt charge us for the entire stay.Trust me, do not stay here!
Love this place. The rooms are wonderful, the staff are friendly and youre right downtown, next to the river. Stayed here twice now, once in the Michigan suite(full kitchen/living room area, fireplace, queen sized bed and a beautiful view of the lake.) and now in the jacuzzi suite(king sized bed, ground flour, half kitchen; fridge, microwave and sink; couch, fake fireplace, stand up shower and a jacuzzi for two) Charlevoix is beautiful and there are so many wonderful sites to be seen. Dont miss out!
This place is so close to downtown that you can walk everywhere. The rooms are big and spacious. They are a little dated, but very clean. The continental breakfast is the norm compared to other places. We were there in winter, so the outdoor pool was closed, but it was located where you had views of Lake Michigan and Round Lake. While we were there, there was alot of snow piled up in the parking area, making it difficult to find enough parking when eveyone was back for the night.
Always have enjoyed our many stays. A family tradition to enjoy a super Thanksgiving buffet at the restaurant and a stay in a Lake Michigan room with a view of Lake Michigan and a cozy fireplace to enjoy on a cold Michigan night. Staff is always polite and helpful. We highly recommend the Weathervane hotel and restaurant.
The experience overall was a good one. I expected a bit more out of a Lake Michigan suite, but it was still nice. It did include a kitchen complete with dishware, pots, pans, and the like. And while it did have a view of Lake Michigan, the view was somewhat limited by the neighboring hotel. The room seemed a bit small to be called a suite, situated on the ground floor, and amongst what may have been non-suites. But for the price, I couldnt complain. And the short walk to a pier and beach was very nice to have. All in all it was a very nice experience, well worth going, and I would definitely go again, just to have more time to see everything and enjoy a longer stay.
So this place is definitely an upscale motel. The stairs to the upstairs rooms are tiny spiral staircases that are awkward to climb with furniture. But inside the furnishings are nice and I absolutely love the pillows. It was also a block from downtown which was fantastic, super close to the beach and shops etc. All in all not a bad place to stay and explore Charlevoix. Beware the bridge, youre on the opposite side of the bridge from town so you can get stuck.
We stayed at the Weathervane Terrace Inn & Suites for 3 days. The room was nice and clean, but dated. The best thing about this hotel is that you can walk to everything. The staff was friendly. We enjoyed it very much. I just wish they would change up the breakfast and serve scrambled eggs and sausage for once or twice a week-that would make it much better! Enjoyed our time there.
Hotel was in a great location, but the rooms werent in great shape. Ours looked like it hadnt been vacuumed before our arrival, nothing is updated, and overall it just felt old and slightly neglected. Nothing technically wrong but it didnt make you feel comfortable during your stay.
We come to the Weathervane Restaurant in Charlevoix regularly to enjoy our time and meals there. Unfortunately our waiter left some to be desired. My sisters and I know this is not the norm, but we felt pretty abandoned this time around - no tableware, no refreshes of drinks, no checks to see that our desires were met. And we were ready to take our desire to check out to the bar or the host desk. Sorry for not supporting the rest of the kitchen and service team.
Visited Charlevoix for a two day trip. Very pleased with the Weathervane Terrace Inn! Had a Jacuzzi King room with a view of Lake Michigan from the room and balcony. Rooms were clean, spacious, and had what we needed for our stay. Had an electric fireplace and very nice Jacuzzi. Excellent customer service from the staff. Complimentary hotel breakfast. Would stay here again.
Love the Weathervane Terrace Inn! Just left yesterday and cant wait to go back in August. The view is amazing, the pool is perfect, and the breakfast is very good. The staff is very helpful. When we arrived and were unloading our luggage my husband was having a hard time with his arthritis and the man doing the cleaning came and offered to carry all our luggage up to our room. (I asked the front desk and we think it was Micheal) The best place to stay!
Here for a wedding in the area. The room is spacious, if a bit dated. You have to walk through the bedroom to get to the living area and kitchenette. We have a lake michigsn suite, but the view of the lake is minimal. There is a two night requirement stay may through October. The continental breakfast didnt have any fruit, which was odd to me. We didnt swim but the pool is deep and looks very clean. The hotel is walking distance to shops and restaurants.
This is a perfectly serviceable hotel and this is in the absolute heart of vacationland Michigan. I have to say though, I really do feel like the prices are a bit high for what you get - even being in the heart of the city. I stayed in a suite with a hot tub, but I couldnt even use the hot tub since it took so long to fill up. Overall, I think this is a nice comfortable hotel in a very convenient spot, but just really not worth the price.
Really nice room. We stayed here using the groupon Live from Charlevoix. The hotel next door that is a sister hotel of the weathervane looks super nice as well. We had a late check out and they were kind of surprised we asked. The room was nice and clean but the only reason I rated it a 4 was because the shower could’ve been a little cleaner. The bed was really soft and felt like sleeping on a pillow. Would return.
The Weathervane was a nice hotel to stay at. Our room was a King jacuzzi suite which was a very clean room but outdated and the bed was too bouncy and uncomfortable for me. The hotel was very convenient location and we just walked everywhere. For the price (we used a Groupon), it was a good hotel and we didnt have any issues.
Nice hotel, close to the ferry. Not as well maintained as one would hope. Bathroom shower floor Matt was worn thru in places. Bathroom door did not close and had finger prints along the edge. And at breakfast even though it was early the waffle batter container was empty.
First time here and first time to Charlevoix. No doubt will be back to Charlevoix but cant say the same about this place. Came for the race and my friends booked the hotel. Pics are not very valid. Dont normally review places, but for what I spent at this place, I want others to be aware. I was a quality inspector in a very upscale hotel, so I may know what to look for more than the average person. I wasnt able to do a full inspection upon arrival but what I did see didnt make me too pleased. Hairs (and not just from a head & yes there were many) on the toilet, in the shower and on the bathroom floor...GROSS!! There was also a soda in the fridge, sorry but they dont stock those for you. The tiles in the bathrooms look very sketchy and like they will fall on you (not just our room but the same tile look in my friends rooms Then the next day, well they took the 1 hand towel that was used by the sink, left the pool towel in the bathroom (no I dont think they even went in the bathroom because they didnt replenish the missing hand towel), didnt empty out the garbage bin that was nearly full and Im pretty certain all they did was just kinda remade the bed, grabbed the towel and left. I knew not to expect a sheet change but I didnt expect all this. Again, I didnt do even a quarter of my normal inspection and yet I kinda am glad I didnt because then I would be afraid of what else I could have found. By the way, a quality inspector goes in after a room attendant cleans the room and checks everything to make sure the room is clean and stocked to their standards and guess what...They have them there.... This was very unacceptable!! Id rather pay more money at another place to ensure Im sleeping on fresh clean sheets, using a thoroughly cleaned bathroom, and that the room has been thoroughly cleaned and fully checked. So if you are reading this and check in, I highly recommend taking a few mins to do what the inspector doesnt seem to be able to do, esp on a busy check-in, and thats check your room when you first get in there!!
Bottom line, if you want a new, updated place, go to a chain hotel. If you want comfort, nice service, and full amenities (even to cook!) in your suite, stay here. It was quiet, conveniently located, and easy access to water and pier. Bottom line, I recommend this place and will be a repeat customer.
Charlevoix is a beautiful town and the people are always warm and welcoming. We stayed in the Lake Michigan Suite at Weathervane Terrace Inn. The view of Lake Michigan was quite minimal, but the room was nice. I wouldnt say it was a five-star room, probably more like a 3.5-4 star. The morning breakfast was definitely lacking as well.
The rooms are outdated, NO room for parking in negative degree weather, but theres room for work trailers and broke down vehicles! The place was not plowed to actually walk around in winter, and the room was setup so that you step into your bed once you enter the room. This place needs to reevaluate customer service and room setup!
****BEWARE**** If negative stars were possible, the Weathervane Inn and suites would recieve them. This place was literally a motel. I paid $600 for three nights, to stay in a suite. When I entered the room, one of the drawers on the desk was broken and hanging off of the desk, proving that they definitely do not check their rooms. I am not picky and would have made due with the tiny rooms and overall shotty experience, if it hadnt been for the some type of bugs i was sharing my room with. I woke up after the first night in room 45 and was covered in bites. I slept on the pull out couch for the remainder of my stay. I called the office just to let them know. I was not seeking any type of compensation at the time. I was merely letting them know, so the next person did not have to spend their week in agony. After being nothing but polite, they all but called me a liar. They also put another guest into the room as soon as I left. This place was disgusting, and this is all aside from the fact that I was made ill from their continental breakfast. Take my advice and stay anywhere else. This place was in no way, shape or form, worth it. After speaking with a manager the following day, they credited me $81.00, which I learned from an email, not even the common courtesy of a phone call to discuss the action that they would take because they know that is not an appropiate currency refund after what I have experienced. To put it in perspective for those who may be believe I am just some picky person, I served my time in the Marine Corps which ranged from cockroaches in my barracks to camel spiders in my tents in Afghanistan. This place was still unacceptable.
The perfect place to stay in Charlevoix or even if you are considering Petoskey. Located right downtown and only steps from Lake Michigan (beautiful views). During our stay we were able to walk downtown and have dinner, shop and enjoy some nightlife. The staff was more than helpful with all our needs and the breakfast room was perfect and not with just your ordinary cold items. The owner showed us one of their new suites and we will be booking one for our next trip to Charlevoix! Highly Recommend!
Was friends with some of the staff. One afternoon he offered to take me for a lunch. I am married and he has a girl. I leave my phone stuff in the Bible drawer, went to lunch and left. Come back and he said he was dropping me off and was coming back for dinner. Thats when I found condoms in my Bible drawer . I took them to the front desk and told him that the maintenance man was crazy. My husband only wants to come back and punch the staff in the mouth

2022-02-18We had a great experience! We stayed in a Jacuzzi room for a wedding at Castle Farms and were very comfortable. We loved that the room had a little kitchenette area, including glasses and plates! The woman who checked us in was also very helpful in making sure we knew where everything was located in regards to both wedding festivities and hotel amenities. We would stay here again!

2022-06-20Guess Im not used to resort prices. I thought 300 a night was very high for this room. I did get a deduct because they forgot to service room on second day but it was still high. Breakfast is continental only. Rooms are old.

2022-04-25I stay at the Weathervane Inn for two days.... Its was the worst place I ever stayed at....(1) The front desk told me when I made my reservations that they had a hot tub and when I got to the Inn they told me it was in the next building on the third floor.... So if I wanted to use the hot tub I had to walk across the parking lot to get to it and walk back to my room in the cold weather.... (2) And the housekeeping they told me to put a card out if I want full service and all they did was come in my room and gave me clean towels didnt make the bed or took out the trash... (3) The continental breakfast what a joke that was .... Only two kinds of Cold cereal bagels pastries English muffins and small glasses of juice.... (4) I had to carry my luggage up a set of stairs which isnt safe to do.... (5)If they had minus Stars I would gave them a three... They lost my business and I hope they go out of business I would not recommend this place to anyone what a joke the place was after paying good money to stay there....

2022-01-16Customer satisfaction is top priority for this team! I was in town for a wedding, and a third party shuttle service never showed up to pick up several guests from the lobby. The manager Irene saw our distress and personally drove us over in time to see the wedding ceremony! Ive never had service this exceptional! Thank you for saving the day, Irene!

2022-01-17I love this place, great location and high towers. Even a spiral staircase to the top of the lighthouse! Breakfast is good and free, mattress is amazing, jacuzzi tub is always a plus. Short walk to the lake too!

2021-10-18First off Charlevoix is gorgeous! My husband and I have never been and we realized we have been missing out. We spent majority of our time outside of the hotel room at the bars and restaurants (and at a beautiful wedding). The hotel was amazing and met expectations. They were full without vacancy which goes to show they are a hot commodity :). The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The room was clean and my husband and I loved the addition of the balconies as the weather was great this time of year. We will definitely be back.

2022-03-02We come up to Charlevoix every Winter and bring a few dozen folks for Ice Diving the Keuka Shipwreck in Lake Charlevoix. This was our first time at The Weathervane Terrace and we will definitely be coming back! Rooms were clean and updated, staff was super nice!
