Wheels In Motion in other cities:
Its a great store in general, friendly staff and a clean environment with knowledgeable folks, only issue is price, most is in higher ends with most helmets going above 100$. Though what they offer is high quality, it wouldnt be very friendly to folks with lower or small budgets.
Had hassle free experience buying my first mountain bike during a pandemic. Jamie and Nick helped me over phone to find the right bike for my height and needs. They even recommended basic accessories. Appreciate them delivering it on time, maintaining social distancing norms. Hope to visit store in person when things return to normal.
Each person I spoke to at Wheels in Motion was so kind & super knowledgeable! They took the time to listen to me & educate me about things I didnt know about my bike & about cycling in general. I was able to get a bike in my size very quickly despite the whole bike shortage due to supply chain issues across the globe. I highly recommend Wheels in Motion to anyone looking for a bike or interested in biking! These people are awesome.
I appreciate the quality of products offered at Wheels in Motion, but the service provided by the staff, and in particular Royale on 10/24/21, was above and beyond my expectations. This staff person accommodated my 2 toddlers and I at closing time as I was picking up my newly purchased and assembled bike; they also helped me gather the appropriate accessories needed to outfit my purchase. More importantly, Royale helped me assemble and attach the bike rack to my car outside during a downpour without any hesitancy or issue. Great customer service and I look forward to having Wheels in Motion as my bike shop moving forward. Thank you!
Went in for a bike tune-up. Felt very valued as a customer. When Ive been to other bike shops, Ive been treated like Im stupid for not knowing the basics about my bicycle. The staff member was kind and told me what I needed to know with no contempt. They even saved me some money.Definitely will be back and recommend it to other people.
Ive been a cyclist for over 30 years and Ive been to bike shops throughout the United States, WiM is one of the best Ive been to. Their staff and service are excellent and when you have an issue or concern, its resolved fairly and quickly. Dexter deserves an extra shout out for going the extra mile when I had a warranty issues with a bike. He was on top of the situation and made sure I stayed informed during the entire process. Great job and its great to have a LBS who really cares about its customers and treats them like friends - thanks so much!
Given the high reviews here, Im pretty disappointed in my experience overall. I bought a new frame from them and it was out of spec (headtube was too small in diameter and BB wasnt chased properly). What was clearly (at least in my mind) a warranty issue ended up being a pain to get resolved and I had to wait almost a month after receiving my frame to be able to ride it. The owner Travis ended up taking care of the work himself to make sure it was done right and acknowledged the poor communication so Im giving them 2 stars, but at the end of the day I cant recommend this shop. Im all for supporting local businesses, but there are other bike shops in town that will give you a much better experience.
First off Ive been here on many occasions. I would say the staff is very knowledgeable and very professional.Buying a bike:When I came in here looking for a bike I was a bit disappointed with their cyclocross selection. Also I didnt have a ton options for my size. However he suggested some great bikes, although they were just to pricy for me. They let me ride them around and test them. Was very professional and taught me what to look for. However I found a great Fuji bike across town that I love, for a price that fit, but I still come here for everything else.Mechanics/Merch:Their mechanics are the best in town hands down. Every time Ive come here frustrated with something wrong with tires etc I would find out it was user error. Which I can gladly take the blame for since I have a working product again. Some of their products are very pricey compared to other places Ive been but most of the products have outlasted other places Ive gotten the same product.Everyones experience is different but this place is still reliable and informative.
Nice, knowledgeable and helpful staff! Whether you are a semi-pro, carbon frame riding bike expert or just looking for a good bike to ride around town or trails, the WiM staff will show you equal attention and make sure you get the info and products you need. Really happy with my Trek Dual Sport and especially with the follow-up service and support.
I took my bike in once before. They fixed it fast and the price was very reasonable. This second time, they replaced my back tire with one that isnt the same width and it had a different valve. They failed to tell me that I need a compatible pump and now I have to walk 11 miles to work until I can find a way back to this shop thats not close to me at all. They fixed it fast, but the tire isnt the same size and now I get to leave for work at 3:30 am for at least the next 6 days. Extremely inconvenient, but as far as repair shop stories go, not that big of a whoopsie.
First time in wasnt bad. Except when I asked what something cost and instead he just rang it up and tried to assume the sale very aggressively.Second time in I spent about 30 minutes walking around. Only to spend about another 15 minutes to find out the bikes Im interested in were the owners bikes and theyre not for sale. So thank you Travis for wasting my time today because I honestly had nothing better to do. Some signage might help. 10/10 would not recommend. They cant even say welcome in when you get their.
This is a friendly bike store. IDK if youve been to many bike stores, but my experience has been poor. Elitist men typically, trying to sell me what theyve got instead of what would work for me or what I came in asking for.Although I have yet to buy a bike from them, I have stopped there a couple of times and called to see if they have anything in my size (shortage because of COVID). Unfortunately they have not had anything yet, but they are able to give me estimates. They even provided me with another store that might have my size in stock (kind of like the Santa on Miracle on 34th street). My partner had his bike fixed here, and they were quick and nice to work with. They also were cost effective which is a plus in A2.I cant wait till I can actually purchase a bike from them. Will return.
This is a great place for dealing with biking needs. Im not what most people would call a serious rider, but I ride often enough to need regular maintenance and repairs. Im always treated respectfully,, i.e., problems are explained clearly and options are offered without overselling. Prices are reasonable, and turnaround time is very good. The showroom is roomy, and theres plenty of parking. Highly recommend!
The service that I was provided was second to none. I spoke with multiple staff members about my needs and they guided me beautifully. They explained the challenges that they have been having about the supply chain for a number of their products. I wanted a bike that they said would not be available for months, so I put my money down and was happy to be patient to get the right bike. They called 4 days later to tell me they had the bike and I could pick it up. During this time of so many unknowns, I cant imagine how difficult their jobs are. It was definitely worth the wait. This was my first time shopping here. I cant see myself going anywhere else.
I went in to buy a bike recently, but learned that its very difficult to get the bike I want in my size due to supply chain issues right now. However, the person working at the desk, Cullen, helped me understand the situation and recommended a bike that would work for me if I wanted to order one. He was super friendly, seemed knowledgeable, and was happy to help me find what I was looking for. I will totally go back if I decide I do want to order a bike.
Great personable service, knowledge of bikes (my Canondale bike is 20 yrs old), answered all Qs, gave referrals/resources for items WIM does not do in house on my bike type. Got all equipment needed & set up for trip taking to UP in few days, along with great bike trail info for area will be in. All on walk in basis- had no appt.Greatly appreciate the 2 bike tech guys I met ! Linda
Took my bike in today for a tube repair and was able to wait in the Plymouth store. The quickness of the staff was amazing. Fixed in 15 minutes and was out biking same day. I was told by other bike shops that it would be a 3 week wait! I highly recommend Wheels in Motion for quick, courteous service. Thanks to the team!!
The staff at WheelsInMotion were outstanding. With the stay-at-home order, getting bicycles became critical for my family. By email and phone, they were able to understand my familys needs and outfit us with new bikes, accessories, and a bike trailer - all of which we love. I interacted most with Jamie and Travis, and found both to be fantastic. So helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. Highly recommended!
These guys are super helpful. They are very accommodating. It is a pleasure every time I enter there store (or dont enter because of global pandemics... :) ) They do a great job, and explain everything thoroughly. Thanks guys. Stay safe!Just another point to show why WIM has been to consistently great for so long. My new bike had an issue and they opened a warranty claim for me. I was a week away from a trip with my bike. They were able to find a way to get the issue with my bike corrected and turned it around in² days instead of 2 weeks! Their customer service is outstanding!
I got a flat Friday evening while I was pretty close to Wheels in Motion. I walked in with the flat and walked out with a new tire and tube installed all for $45 in about 20 minutes. I was able to make it to DTE Saturday morning because of the quick service I received Friday. Thanks to your mechanic team for being quick and courteous and very friendly.
Wheels in Motion is a great cycling shop - great selection of bikes/equipment, very good service, and most importantly friendly/helpful staff. Sorry this is a bit of along story, but it illustrates what good customer service is vs not so good. I live in the Birmingham area and needed to have some service done on one of my bikes. I first took to a local bike shop in the Birmingham area and was very disappointed with the response I got. I was in no rush and offered to leave the bike or come back another time, but the response I got was very rude and condescending. So, I knew of Wheel of Motion thru a friend and drove to A2 from Birmingham. The Wheels Response was much better. This was during COVID and the Wheels and Motion team has a very well run approach to handling shoppers as well as service customers. They have a very organized service area and took time to listen to the issues I was having with the bike, logged in the issues, took the bike, scheduled the service - all very friendly and very professional. I got a text and email when it was finished (even ahead of schedule). My next bike(s) will definitely be from Wheels in Motion -- its worth the drive!!
Not only was my Tri fitting was fast and easy, but the staff was all very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the entire process (shoutout Travis!). Although COVID guidelines prevented us from doing a full fitting with Precision Fit, the pricing was adjusted to reflect this, and I still feel that my bike is much better suited to meet my needs. They also offered to have me come back in 3-4 weeks to follow up and make any additional adjustments that may be needed.I would definitely recommend this service to friends and familyThanks Wheels in Motion!
I originally had a frustrating experience here. But credit where credits due; these folks really went out of their way to make it right. Ive left my original review below for context, but after I posted it the owner reached out and offered some extra work done on my bike for free. It was done promptly and very well––the mechanics here absolutely know their stuff.-----Original review:I hate, hate, hate giving a negative review to a local bike shop. But I have had nothing but bad experiences dealing with the folks here.I placed an online order for pickup two weeks ago and at the time the website said the items were in stock. Called multiple times over the next few days to confirm I could come pick up and no one ever answered. Eventually I went to the store, and was told my order wasnt there and would be in on Tuesday. Called multiple times Tuesday and Wednesday before finally getting ahold of someone who told me they should be in Thursday. Its now the following Monday, apparently they still dont have my order.I understand that shipping is a problem for everyone right now. But theres no scenario where its reasonable to have a 2 week delay for in stock items, AND repeated inaccurate predictions of when Id get my order, AND an absurd degree of difficulty in getting this place on the phone (I was told many times that they would call me to update me; its never happened and they usually answer about one time in ten that I call). They shouldnt be forcing people to come in person just to check the status of an order.Again, I cant emphasize enough how much it pains me to leave a bad review for a local bike shop. But I rely on my bike to commute and their poor service has put me in a prolonged difficult position. After being misled and ignored for two weeks I feel like theres no other mechanism I have to get these peoples attention.
I went in to see about buying a road bike. I was mislead multiple times about pricing and options for the bike and wasn’t made aware until after I purchased the bike. On top of all this, you would think a bike that’s over 4000$ would come with pedals right? Not the case. Originally I was told when I wanted to swap the bars in the future it was going to be relatively easy and inexpensive. This was not the case ether. Another thing I was very disappointed about, I was under the impression I was getting a brand new bike within the last year or so. The bike was right at the front doors when you walk in with a few other ones but come to find out it was from 2016. I have a hard time believing that bike wasn’t pre owned. Would not recommend going here, to many Mis-communications and different stories about options for bikes from every employee.
Jessica was a fantastic sales associate! She was helpful, kind, informative, and no-pressure. She understood what we were looking for and made solid recommendations giving pros and cons for each model. The mountain bike we purchased was an upgrade for our 10 y.o. son (coming out of his 20”) and Jessica also made sure to talk to him just like an adult and understand his needs, likes, dislikes, comfort in the bike, and more. She didn’t treat him like a child and talk over him or talk only to us (his parents) and we all appreciated that very much. All of these things were key to us giving our business to Wheels in Motion. We were down to a “final 2” businesses on where to purchase; and Jessica’s personality, knowledge, and delivery on a great customer experience were the deciding factors in our decision.
They had the ebike I was interested in while other area bike shops did not. Staff was friendly and helpful. They answered all of my questions and showed me how the bike worked. They prepped the bike and loaded it into my vehicle. I was very happy with my telephone and in store experience.
Do not shop here! Worst customer experience ever. Back in June, we were told they had a few 24” boys bikes in stock, but when we got to the store the next day, they did not even have a floor model to show us. Despite our disappointment, we ordered and paid in full for the only 24” boys bike they said they carry for pick up late July. Since then, they have given me shipping date commitments on 3 different bikes that mysteriously never arrived and I was just informed the 4th bike would be available in early October, date subject to change, of course. We have never received a call to tell us about a delay, calls to the store Inquiring about status were never returned or gave us misleading information, requiring multiple trips to the store to find out the status. Save yourself some grief and shop somewhere else.
During the Great Bike Shortage of 2020, I had the lovely experience of shopping at D&D, Motor City, and Wheels in Motion: this place is absolutely the best bike shop in the city. It helped that they had the bike in stock that we wanted - a miracle! - but they also had it ready when they said. We went to pick it up on a Saturday and there was a long line to get in; we called from the line and asked if they could bring it out to us since we had already paid for it - someone brought our bike out to us within 5 minutes and we were on our way.The best part is afterwards; I received an email from the manufacturer saying that the bike had been registered for its warranty. Something Wheels in Motion just did for us. And, then a couple weeks later, I received an email for $10 off any accessory item. This place really goes above and beyond to provide exceptional service, even in such an unprecedented time.I know its hard to find bikes right now, but this is the place you should shop - you wont be disappointed.
Cant say enough good things about this shop and their staff. I went in a couple weeks ago trying to decide whether I needed a gravel or road bike. Kevin helped me narrow down my choices and answered all my questions. I went in a couple more times after that to test ride a few bikes and worked with Joe. Both guys were incredibly helpful and helped me make an informed decision that I was happy with. My new bike should be delivered later this week. Cant wait!
Hands down the best bike shop I have ever visited. They are always friendly, not pushy, knowledgeable, offer discounts to many local clubs and employers, have a great selection, and their mechanics are top notch. A bike shop that is so good, you honestly feel bad if you buy things online instead of going here to see if they have it first. Kudos!
We have purchased a few bikes here after coming in for service for bikes we bought at another shop that closed. The sales people are very helpful. The service people are really efficient and will even do quick adjustments right on the spot. Definitely highly recommend.
Even though its a very hectic time to buy a bike, they were very receptive to me when i called, answered all my questions, and set clear expectations. They let me know when bike was ready. Minor problem, when i got home, handlebar was quite crooked. No issues though, fix took all of 30 seconds with an allen wrench. Not sure the bike is the proper fit for me though, luckily they have a 30-day return policy.
Brought my bike in for routine maintenance and was assured completion of same within 72 hours. Two weeks later finally received my bike. To make matters worse the minor maintenance was not completed correctly. Very disappointed.Following this review I was contacted by Wheels in Motion offering to help fix the issue. I am happy to report they went above and beyond in making certain my bike was ready to ride. Everyone makes mistakes and I was impressed with their desire to fix theirs. Im certainly going to consider their services in the future. Job well done.
Randall and the whole team at Wheels In Motion are fabulous! Currently, they are helping to rebuild my 1973 Bridgestone road bike that my dad used while serving in Vietnam. Additionally, they have always been able to help in a pinch with wheel and cassette issues on the fly. Super happy to have landed in such good company for my familys bikes!
Ann Arbor has several bike shops. The one I use and know is Wheels in Motion. Their merchandise is high quality, pricing is reasonable, staff is friendly and knowledgeable and repair staff does an excellent job. Small repairs are usually free and done quickly and well. For example I brought my bike in for s tune up and as I was leaving a staff member asked to see my bike because she had noticed my seat was st s slight angle. She fixed this on the spot. It is that kind of service that makes them my go to bike company.
Excellent service, selection and staff. The staff is very attentive, helpful and knowledgeable.I am new to the world of cycling; I didnt know much past how to ride my road bike down the road less than a year ago until I competed in my first Triathlon-then I was hooked. However, the road bike just wasnt cutting it anymore. I needed to upgrade, but knew (absolutely) nothing about the bike I needed (besides that it needed to be faster and lighter..and probably more expensive) nor the array of equipment I needed alongside it. Due to this ignorance, I was a bit nervous about walking completely clueless into a bike shop-both for my ego and bank account. Nevertheless, the staff at Wheels In Motion were very friendly, helpful and completely unpretentious. They seemed excited to show and explain everything to me: what I absolutely needed, what was optional, what would be a waste of money.I imagine this store is also extremely accommodating for those with a much deeper understanding than I about the world of cycling (although thanks to them, it has significantly expanded). They have some pretty intense equipment for proper bike fittings (and also basic fittings for beginners like I) and know the ins and outs of everything in their store.Overall, I have found the bike shop I will continue to give my services to from here on out. I would recommend this store to anyone and everyone!
They are a true full service bike shop with a friendly and knowledgeable sales and service staff. In addition to meeting all your cycling needs they are a strong supporter of the community including being a sponsor of a student MICSA cycling team. If you are new to cycling or a veteran you will not find a better, more supportive bike shop to meet your needs.
We came in to purchase two bikes today and even though they were super busy and some customers were losing patience each and every worker made us feel taken care of and helped us pick out perfect bikes. They continued to keep a happy disposition and apologize for the wait and thanked us for our patience.I Ive worked customer service before and the folks at Wheels in Motion are brilliant Shout out to Mike and especially to Royale!
Service was unparalleled. The staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I went to view and test ride the bike about 3 times before buying it and each time the staff was helpful and never pressured me to purchase. They were honest and just passionate about biking and wanted me enjoy biking and be safe no matter who I purchased from.
I started using wheels in motion when I had an old bike that was falling part and needed lots of repairs. Theyve been unbelievably helpful as Im slowing getting more and more into cycling. This past April they helped me pick out a new bike and fit it to my size. I just went in and got my first pair of cycling shoes and pedals to go with it. They helped me pick a shoe that works best for my needs and helped install everything. Even though Im a beginner they are always kind and ready to help me learn!
Its been years since Ive purchased a bike, and had no idea what to look for. The staff were helpful, patient, and very knowledgeable about what I needed and took the time to explain it to me. I was able to find a model that fit my budget, take it for a test ride, and pick up all the accessories I needed all in one trip. Couldnt have dreamed of a smoother experience!
Horrible service. Took my bike in for a service and was originally told 3-5 days. It then took a week. Get my bike back the wheel is more messed up than before and the gears are still jumping. I tried calling numerous times however their lines are always busy. I don’t know how you can be a top 100 trek dealer and only have two analog phone lines...
Amazing staff, very help full. I decided to start shopping for a new bike this year, being out of the sport for well over 15 yrs. Anyways, I checked out a few other places in town, and online, and while generally everyone in town was help-full the guys at Wheels In Motion where amazing, great attitudes, even to a beginner, they are bikers themselves, they want to be sure your pleased with your choice. They are a locally owned business and have been around for many years, its always good to support your local guys. Best of all they gave me an amazing deal, I even sent my sister in law in a few days later to get a bike as well. Thanks again guys!!
I always have an awesome experience at Wheels in Motion. I just got a Precision Fit done by Travis and it was amazing. He has the patience of a saint. After several months of shopping for my first racing bike I just could not find any place with better service, knowledge, and most importantly, willingness to help me. EVEN WHEN I WAS LOOKING AT BIKES THEY DO NOT CARRY THEY WERE HELPFUL AND ENCOURAGING FOR ME TO DO WHAT WAS BEST FOR ME!Needless to say I went with a bike they do carry. The precision fit was really cool. If you are into your gear and how you can get the best out of it you should get one. Thanks WIM!
Great bike shop. I had my bike serviced here, and they quickly found the problem and fixed it. They have a really good customer service focus. I’ve gone to a bike shop just down the road from here and their customer service is terrible. I highly recommend this bike shop.
Be really clear on what you need help with in the repair department, or talk to a manager or the owner. Otherwise the kids that work there, I wouldn’t trust with a repair.I had some issues come up with repairs and being overcharged, and the owner was very helpful in getting everything set straight.
Edit Covid19:Still 5 stars from the bottom of my heart. You can order on their website and do a pick up delivery. Not even 24h waiting time for weird / rate items. They do their best over the phone to guide you in your choice if needed. The best of best guys. One of our favorite place in Ann Arbor. The staff is courteous, knowledgeable and eager to help. They have a lots of choice with a very good price point. They really do a good job giving you straight answers.5stars no hesitation.
Id ordered online from their warehouse a $40 lock to replace one wed lost. 24 hours later, we found the lock. I called the Ann Arbor store, though expected that it was too late to cancel the order. The salesperson was very nice and cancelled the order immediately, then called me back later to get my card number for the refund. Above and beyond.
After visiting several bike shops in the Ann Arbor area, Wheels in Motion is hands-down the best. The staff and the service you receive really sets this shop apart from others in the area. As a newbie to the cycling world, it was refreshing to meet with staff who are not pretentious and dont try to upsell you on products or services you dont need. In fact, they have provided quick fixes on the spot without charging me anything on multiple occasions when Ive brought my bike in. Everyone that works there is SUPER friendly and knowledgeable about they products they sell and actually use their products themselves. Last, as a female cyclist, it was refreshing to see female employees that dont just sell things but are knowledgeable bike mechanics themselves (Chelsie and Erika rock!), and to see that all of their employees treat you respectfully and dont talk down to you.
The Wheels in Motion crew is exceptional. From sales to service, they are all friendly, helpful, and fair. There is an overall company culture of wanting to help fellow cyclist, at all levels, and that shows in the care they give to their customers and the support to give to their community.
This shop is great! The staff is knowledgeable and attentive, and theyve never tried to sell me more than I need.I had a new headset installed here (the bearing set that allows the handlebars to pivot). They did a great job. The price was competitive, and they finished ahead of schedule.
Brought my bike in to get some work done only to be met with a young college kid with a chip on his shoulder. Had to take my bike back 5 time before all the work was done right. Took three guys to figure it out. They still didn’t get it all right. So I took it to an other bike shop and after a good laugh they fixed it in 3 mins and sent me on my way. Stay away from these guys if you value your time and money. There are better shops in the area!
Large selection of bikes and accessories available in the store. Helpful, friendly staff. Different levels available for cleaning and reconditioning of older bikes. And in this time of Covid-19, they take distancing and mask wearing seriously plus have hand sanitizer readily available.
Took my bike to WIM for some delicate work. The mechanics were always great and helpful and the bike was repaired in a fair amount of time. Whats more important is that the suspension is now buttery smooth and the wheel build is top notch. Their price was also the best around. Will be back forsure! Cheers
The guys at wheels in motion are really great. They have taken good care of my bike every time Ive come in for service, they fix things right the first time and dont cut corners. Unlike many other bike shops Ive had experience with, they have never tried to sell me a part or accessory that I dont need. They have even sent me to other sources when they dont have the part or tool that I am looking for.
Outstanding facility. This is obviously a destination for anybody passionate about cycling.I brought my daily-commuter bicycle in for a tune-up. I depend on this bicycle.#1 the staff turned around the tune-up in less than 12 hours, I called to double check my bike was really done. It was.#2 the tune-up on my bicycle was so outstanding I thought I was riding a brand new bike. I dont know how far out of shape my commuter had become, but what I rode out after the tune-up was exceptional.I highly recommend Wheels In Motion.
Bought a bike trailer from them because my husband wanna encourage local stores, which I respect.. The guy who “helped” us was weird l, he didn’t smile once and when I asked him if we should buy a lock for the trailer he almost laughed at me!! After two weeks we lost the flag and a kind of cover for the wheels off button, we went to see them to contact the seller if he can replace those cause they are not supposed to fall after a few rides, they didn’t seem to care and wanted to sell us the flag!! The last thing I just checked on Amazon and the trailer is 100$ cheaper and I get 15% rewards money back!!! Those stores are the reason why I order online.. I can’t see any plus from their side honestly!
This bike shop is exactly what a bike shop should be.The service is exemplary. Demo bikes in great shape and they take the time to set you up right, sag pressure rebound etc.If I could add wants or critiques?1)3 Words...Kona.Full.SuspensionWe live in the Huron River Valley!Process 134, or Process 111 would be the perfect playful bike.2)27.5sSome of us are shorter and still like to jump around and whip etc. Thanks guys!!Keep being awesome!
Great place. Got a small demo of how to slide the tire back onto the rim. I forget the gentlemans name - Full beard - Nice looking tattoos on both forearms - One of the millennial hipster types back in the repair shop. The nice technique he demonstrated - that of pushing the last bit of the tire onto the rim, after a new tube insert, will be used for every tube change now on wards. Absolutely recommended.
Kudos to the staff at Wheels in Motion for excellent customer service! I was in Ann Arbor from out of town and hoping for a long bike ride. While on the B2B trail, I had a minor accident and broke my saddle. I limped my bike over to Wheels in Motion, and they told me that it was likely under warranty, but couldnt be fixed. Rather than sell me a new seat, they gave me a loaner which enabled me to finish my ride. The B2B is a beautiful ride, and the efficient and super helpful staff at Wheels in Motion ensured I got to see it all!
Very kind staff! Dropped in on a whim when I lost a bolt on my rack while commuting home. They helped me get my bike up the stairs, dropped in a new bolt, checked and tightened the other bolts for good measure, then cut me loose no charge! Ill certainly be back next time I need anything bike related.
You get what you pay for. Loved this place everyone was super helpful. No one tries to upsell you. They changed my mf life and now im addicted to biking and i will be back for another more advanced purchase. Ive had my bike since April and put hella miles on it (50+ a weekend since) and its still rolling like new.
This was our first time buying a bike, and it couldn’t have gone more smoothly! My 5 y/o son walked in, immediately gravitating toward the bike that my mother-in-law had been quietly talking with a staff member about, and as soon as he tried riding it, he was smitten. I’ve never seen him take to something so quickly! Plus the staff let him go to the back room to watch his bike being checked and prepared (and bell installed). He had the biggest smile on his face, and he’s ridden the bike almost every day since then!
My friends bike was stolen 2 nights ago (that I built!), and she looked all over town. After posting an ad on Craigslist, the super honest and nice guys at Wheels in Motion called her and reported that they had a bike that matched the description.Just this basic service makes me trust them. Id blindly recommend anyone to them because if they will call back on a potentially stolen bike, theyre likely to be honest technicians. Thanks a ton guys!
The best bike shop in Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti. My only complaint is their location, which is unfortunately one of the least bike-friendly spots in the whole county. There are several good bike shops around, but these guys know their stuff, get repairs done often ahead of schedule, and dont try to upsell you. Their prices are high on some things, but their repair rates are reasonable.
Ok - so - the long and short of it is that I am relatively new to spinning/cycling as a whole and was in the market for a large shoe (size 14). Being from Ann Arbor I had passed WIM multiple times but never had a reason to go in... Now I did. All of the staff were super knowledgeable and helpful in allowing me to try on many different sizes of shoes. However, none were the size that I truly needed.Next, they ordered in a pair they thought would work (came in overnight practically). Unfortunately these shoes were ALSO too tight.Heres where WIM gets the 5 star review. The woman I talked with on my second visit was super knowledgeable and recommended I try Sidi shoes (even though they did not have the availability to order the specific style I needed in), as she knew that they had larger/wider shoes available.I took her advice, and found the Sidi Mega (wide series shoes) available online and they were an absolute perfect fit. It says a lot about a company when they are willing to do the right thing. Even if it meant losing my personal sale, they have earned not just my future sales but my recommendation to many friends and family. Bravo.
Went in today looking for a new bike. First off I was not welcomed by any of the 5 employees that seen me come in. I still looked around for a minute, they had a good selection of bikes at reasonable prices but I decided I didnt want to buy from there. Should really welcome customers when they walk into your store. Thats a big deal to some of us still.
My dad bought me my first adult bike from Wheels in Motion over 25 years ago. That bike saw me through 500 mile long bike trips in high school, college, a move out west and is now being ridden by a friend in Denver. My son, who was born in Wyoming, learned to ride a bike when he was 3. He had a nice, high quality bike there but we had to leave it and everything else behind when we fled from his abusive father. We left a year and a 1/2 ago with just what we could throw in the car while the police helped us get out. It was tough and sad being the new kid. My son, who was 6, missed his bike. We couldn’t risk trying to get his nice bike back so I bought him a cheap one from Walmart last spring break. That same day, while riding, he met a friend in the neighborhood. After so much trauma and being uprooted, making a riding friend meant the world to him. But that bike has since fallen apart and this was devastating to a little boy whose world is riding with the neighbors. The new friend introduced my son around and now they’re an inseparable group of 4. Coming out of quarantine and onto the neighborhood streets has brought new life into these kids. My son came home crying on Sunday because his chain fell off again and the handle bar broke. I knew that it would be near impossible to find him a good bike with the low Covid inventory. I told him that I would start the process of looking but it would probably take a while. I called Wheels in Motion and despite a little bit of a paperwork snag, they got him just the right bike. My dad decided he was going to buy it for his 8th birthday. We picked it up this morning, and bought a giant 8-shaped balloon. Grandpa brought him outside and he lit up. He jumped on and rode down the street to show his friends. So, thank you for taking care of a little boy who’s been through a lot. It’s not just a bike to us-it’s friendship and new beginnings. I would have given you a 10 but when I initially brought my son to get the bike, it hadn’t been inventoried and couldn’t be sold that day. My son was devastated because he thought they were being mean by telling him he could have the bike on the phone and then not letting him take it home. But in the end, it worked out just fine and he’s a happy kid.
I would give this place 0 stars. Absolutely terrible I went in shopping for a bike I got zero greeting. I went on to look at the selection of bikes and was in for about 15 min and nobody approached me about anything. I will NOT ever buy anything here let alone a bike. I wouldnt take my kids bike here to take off the training wheels
Great advice based on looking at poor photos I took on my phone before I came in, good record keeping of past purchases to help guide me to what seems like the right place, and good mask-adherence and social distancing. The young lady who helped us was very very good at answering our questions.
The WIM team is very knowledgeable of their products and do not work on commission, therefor they do not upsell you on things that you do not need. With that being said, they have a very wide selection of bikes, so if you do want to go all out, by all means, they’ve got you covered. Additionally, their professional staff (yes, Joe is a pro) match you with your personal needs, which helps you become an improved rider without going out of your comfort zone; very key.I highly suggest you check this place out. WIM has not only fitted me with multiple great bikes that are well worthy of the legendary Trek name, but they have also instilled their hardworking culture in me as a local rider and an American citizen.
Personable, passionate service and support team! Notable team members, Patrick and Erika.+Broad/relevant bike/accessories selection+Advanced bicycle integration/fitting options+Great post-sale support+Lifetime tuneups (at least for the bike I purchased)Now, a loyal customer.
Wheels In Motion is the kind of family owned and run business that I love to support. The Plotner family in known for customer service, honest selling and community organized rides. Ann Arbor is very fortunate, indeed.Great hours (always available), great product and great staff.
Only shopped here twice but both times were good experiences. I found what I needed quickly and was greeted with proper information to make my best decision. The staff are stand up men and women who are willing to admit when wrong and make it right if necessary. Would come again.
Im probably a more extreme bicycle user than many folks, riding 4,000 miles per year (including all weather, all seasons bicycle commuting) and racing three different bicycling disciplines (cross country, gravel road, and winter fat bike). The fast, friendly, and knowledgeable staff at Wheels in Motion do a wonderful job keeping my three racing bicycles and commuter ready to ride. Wheels in Motion is everything a well run local bicycle shop should be!
So I went in today excited to buy a mountain bike because of all the good reviews I read about this place and it was near my house so I thought it was going to be a win-win. I walked in and the man at the counter half heartedly asked if there was something he could help with. I told him I’m looking for a mountain because I mountain bike. He proceeded to walk my sister and I to the bike selection and asked “why are YOU wanting a mountain bike? Are YOU going to be mountain biking...on the trails?” The way he asked the question was what made me feel like I was not welcome in the store. I think he realized that what he said was uncalled for and try to play it off by saying a lot of people ask for mountain bikes who aren’t going on trails. When I explained what I wanted in a bike he was responding as though I have no idea what I was taking about and I had to keep repeating myself because he didn’t want to listen to what I was saying. I went in there with every intent to buy a bike but I was disappointed to see that this staff member was more interested in judging my appearance than making a bike sale. I was really disappointed so my sister and I left to go try and find a different store to purchase a mountain bike. It’s sad that just because someone looks different from one’s expectations they are disregard as a customer.
This is the fourth shop in AA I’ve tried; the first 3 have closed since I moved here 3 years ago.In the midst of a pandemic this was the best retail experience I’ve had.I’ll be back for parts and service. You’ve hooked me with your friendly, helpful ,fairly priced service.
Came in with a mangled crankset after hilariously poor attempts to get the chainring off. Everyone was friendly, didnt mock me for the absurd crankset, and went on to help me with getting my bike in order. New crankset is fantastic, and the bike feels twice as fast. Very much recommend, great guys!
These guys/gals were very helpful! I was able to get some basic work done while I waited instead of having to leave it there for days. They were not at all condescending, and even explained some work to me that I could do myself vs. paying them to do it. Had a great experience with both the sales and the service staff. Highly recommend!
Noise in back tire. Took it to REI bike shop and paid $35 to lubricate back tire with noise coming back within 2 rides. Brought it to Wheels in Motion and Nick hooked me up with a back tire realignment, spoke tightening and brake realignment for the same $35. Problem solved probably customer for life.
I love this place. Ive been in several times because of flats or brake problems and every experience was honest, quick, pleasant and the prices are excellent. The guys there enjoy making your biking experience better and arent in it for the money like other places in town. Please give them your business.
Being a bike nerd with very specific questions I was curious if a Superfly SS could also be ran with gears using an adapter used on the Stache and Farley. WIM not only entertained the question but had a gorgeous 2015 Superfly SS to look at; in no time at all, Brian took the Superfly SS and a Stache off the sales floor to experiment on a stand in the shop. No other Trek dealer Ive asked would entertain the question (or just said no because it required research) and I appreciated WIM tying up about $3,500 in inventory just to satisfy my very specific curiosity.WIM went above and beyond and as it turns out the Superfly SS was in my size and on sale. A generous test ride later and I bought the bike. Ive since returned to have Tommy build a custom wheelset for me (cant wait!) while Brian hunted down an obscure axle conversion kit for the take-off wheels.Ive only thrown curveballs at the guys at WIM and theyve always stepped up to help me out out because theyre just as excited to do bike stuff as I am; it really is a great shop. I drive from Novi each time and never regret dealing with the traffic for this treatment! Thanks Wheels in Motion; keep up the great work!!!
I dropped my wheel off to get a broken spoke fixed on Monday with the understanding that I would have it back by Friday so I could do a group ride. After not hearing anything I went in on Saturday to see if it was done. The mechanic told me that they cannot fix the wheel because the spoke went into the hub and only the manufacture could replace a spoke. I took the wheel to a different shop and they fixed it the same day after they had a laugh at my story.
Horrible customer service, could be due to the fact that the place has no adults running the place I took my bikes in there to have the tubes changed I got the bike back with no air caps and all the tire bolts hand tightened when I went back to get the issue fixed i stood in line while all the service workers just Stared at us as if we hadn’t been standing there for a half hour finally I walked up to the counter to get the caps and didn’t bother with any of the other issues since I didn’t have all day to wait this seems to be the sign of the times with the service industry I’ve noticed
I love their bikes, thier bikes are pretty good and sweet I bought me one out of this store it has a smooth ride to it when I bought it and pretty expensive but, I came out with a cheap one still had a smooth ride to it and, they will fix problems that youre having with your bike in a second depending on how the condition is I really would recommend this to someone if they ever want to buy a good bike and their employees are so nice too 😊👍

2022-01-08These folks were amazing, and they saved Christmas! We bought bikes for our boys for Christmas (and little else because of budgeting), but due to late shipping and supply shortages, the bikes we ordered did not arrive when they were supposed to. The store gave us 2 of the bikes they had in stock (just a different color) to put under the tree with the option to trade once the bikes we ordered came in...then they honored that 2 weeks later! I am so happy to have worked with the folks at Wheels In Motion.

2022-07-05I needed a quick tire repair but my old shop didn’t survive COVID. Not only was Wheels in Motion quick with my repair, I was expertly guided in the purchase of a new helmet. I appreciated the personal approach and advice. At no time did I feel like I was in a traditional sales activity. It felt more like a trusted friend sharing their expertise. Needless to say, I have a new bike shop. That’s the first thing I told my wife when I returned home.

2022-03-21The associate that helped us pick out our bike was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Not only was she super helpful despite being the only associate available to help multiple shoppers in the store, but she made us feel like she really cared, we were a priority and that she wanted to make sure we left with the best bike possible for our childs needs. I wish I had gotten her name because she 100% deserves acknowledgement. She was helping at least 3 separate people at the same time and managed to effectively split her time between them all and get everyone helped. I dont normally feel blown away by service, but she blew us away with her attentiveness, care and genuine concern for our purchase. I also really appreciate that the store sells pre owned bikes!

2022-06-21Even if it’s an experience born of frustration, the staff at Wheels in Motion are professionals and I appreciate them. I’ve been a loyal Trek buyer and WIM customer for a long while, and even though the pandemic made an extremely challenging environment (and completely frustrated my bicycle buying / service wants) I am still confident in the service and sales. I recently had a complete crank malfunction and the chap in service (broken leg guy, I’m sorry I don’t know your name,,,) went above and beyond to procure a part and get the job completed. I’m really impressed and will continue to support and recommend WIM.

2022-05-30I went to the Washtenaw WIM with a Schwinn bike purchased from Target that was gifted to me from a loved one. Initially, I walked in with questions and was directed to the service shop in the back. I waited a few minutes which was no bother because no one was lollygagging. There were people in the back working hard and a couple of techs out at the desk engaging with another customer while taking their time diagnosing the issue. When my turn came up, the mechanic listened to what I had to say then after taking a good look, offered to make adjustments to my bike which took less than 20 minutes . His attention to detail was impeccable. He checked everything: tire rotation, chains and gears, brakes, the handle bar; the works because I am sure he checked things I didnt notice. He even adjusted the damn bell. He only charged me $10 for the time, which I thought was fair, since he determined the bike as in good condition. The bike feels solid under me and the ride is miles smoother now.The folx at this WIM location are awesome and nice, never pushy or rude, and made me feel welcome. One of the employees encouraged me to have the mechanic take a look at my bike to determine if it needed adjustment, repair, or replacement even though I have never purchased anything from them. I left feeling educated, rather than talked down to or taken advantage of, from the front to the back of the shop. So if and when I decide to upgrade my bike, I know where I coming back to.

Please select the review site of your choice below.Copy feedback to clipboardUserKelly VessEvan was awesome on the phone guiding me to find the perfect mountain bike. He was super knowledgeable, professional, and patient. It helped that Evan himself is a mountain biker and owner of the Trek Marlin as well. This was the bike I was interested in purchasing. When I arrived at the shop, I had a different salesperson, Zach, assist me. He was very patient and helpful, describing the pros and cons of each bike and allowing me to check out each bike for their fit. Again, it helped that Zach too was a mountain biker and owner of the Trek Marlin, which I decided to purchase. So far so good. Im glad I bought my bike from the Wheels in Motion shop. Not only am I happy with my purchase, but I look forward to their service when I need maintenance work in the future. Kelly Vess, Triathlon, Cyclocross, Moutain, and Snow Bike Enthusiast

2019-06-15I spoke to Kevin over the phone and set me up with some great tires for my mtb. I was coming from out of town so he made sure everything was set aside for me when I showed up. Took a look around and the store has everything beautifully set up and displayed. They have a really nice open-air maintenance in the back and a huge selection of bikes. Definitely worth checking out if you want to get into biking or have been doing it for years and you want great quality and service.
