This was a great spot to visit. The location may surprise you but restaurant is beautiful inside. Everything was great we made a reservation prior to our visit. They have indoor & outdoor seating with an sorta outdoor seating area too. Full bar and a reasonably priced menu. They honestly could charge more for the items. Had to add Zao Jun to my hidden gem. The service we was we received from our waitress was top tier even while training someone else. Every item we order was delicious made me want to post (and i dont post to social media). Give this place a try for date night or just just in the mood for Asian Cuisine. Could say more but just try it!
This was our first visit. We had a party of 10 with a reservation. They sat us quickly and even changed our seating arrangements to better suit our needs. Our waiter Stetson (or something like that) was amazing! He was very patient and kind and funny! The food was delicious 😋 Will definitely come back.
An excellent sushi spot. A wide range of options with good execution across the board.Delia was especially helpful navigating the menu and finding the best order. She even brought out the sushi chef to discuss the best alternative for the original pieces I ordered when they did not have all the ingredients.
I had a 7:15p reservation for 2. The waiter took our drink order. It was taking some time, so we placed our appetizer order. Still no drinks, so we placed our entire dinner request. They were unable to fill even our drink order by 8:30. While I would have loved to try their food I could not wait any more. Going out for dinner is supposed to be relaxing. I have no interest in fighting with the waitstaff or manager.I am tired of the ‘COVID’ excuse; the manager should know the capacity of their staff and close off a section or two if necessary.
We feel so grateful to have a delicious family friendly restaurant nearby. Not only is the space designed beautifully, but the staff is friendly and accommodating. My daughter loved her smoothie and pink kid-friendly sushi. The menu has familiar dishes too like chicken lettuce wraps- best ones I’ve ever had, delicious and beautiful sushi rolls, and along with much more. The food here is consistent and fresh, familiar but unique w/o being pretentious. We are looking forward to trying the desserts next time! Great place!
Totally a great place to try, we had Brittney as our server and it was just great service all around. We just decided to try this place out of no where and I so glad we did. We ordered a mix of the menu and all of it was good. I will definitely recommend and come back to this location.
I want to give this place 5 stars because 1 out of 4 times everything is beyond great, but it’s too hit or miss. We moved from San Francisco and this is the closest thing in the area to solid Chinese food. Dining in is definitely the best option for fast, fresh food and mistakes can be easily corrected. Takeout is an absolute disaster. I have waited up to an hour over their estimated time, just sitting there, just to get home and something is either missing or half the food is cold. Sometimes the Mongolian Beef is amazing and other times it is clearly too old or stringy and shriveled. Its also too expensive to have to discard an entire entree because it tastes like it’s gone bad. I’d say their biggest positives are the awesome kids options. Unfortunately, our kids have ended up having to go to sleep at least 3x that we have ordered because of delays at the restaurant when picking up.
There is always something about the service here. Never the food. Which is delicious. But today’s issue was that I ordered for delivery and the initial estimate was over an hour (fine on Saturday night) and yet at an hour, the driver had to text me to say he was waiting for the food. I felt sorry for him. His livelihood relies on the efficiency of the system.
We tried this place for the first time last night. There was apparently a system glitch when we placed an online order for a lunch bowl combo at 8PM (lunch ends at 3PM) but they honored the system glitch and didn’t charge us the difference between lunch and dinner prices. Very professional and delicious food! We will be back!!
We walked into the restuarant got seated right away. and from that point on we sat there for 45 minutes before we got my glass of wine. the waiter came back and asked if we were ready we said we are still waiting for our apps and his beer. 20 minutes later we went and asked someone for help, waiter apologized but never came back with anything. Then 15 minutes later the manager came and apologized said they had two big parties and gave us a $20 gift card to use. very appreciative we waited another twenty minutes and then we got up. left the gift card and paid for the wine and tip for the waiter we saw for i minute. as we were walking out the door our waiter followed us apologized again and said to come back again and our meal was on them. again very nice, however 1) would you want to risk another night without dinner? 2) Hiw do you walk in and say this dinner is on you per our first waiter?Truly and unfortunate experience
The food was just OK… We did not get sushi… We got a couple of their entrées- The biggest complaint we had was the flavoring was strange. We both walked away not liking whatever ingredient they put in them. The ambience is really nice… Was quite bummed out that it wasnt better. I do plan to go back and try their sushi
Food was delicious. The spicy items I ordered were not spicy. Hostess staff was professional and friendly. Food was very expensive. Three people, no drinks or desserts with tip was $97. Hot chicken bao bun was average, flavor seemed to only come from the pickled jalapeño. Miso soup was flavorful. I would love to come back but too expensive for my budget.
I got a large amount of food yesterday from Zao Jun and every single thing was amazing. The staff got my food together extremely fast and they were very friendly. The lady at the front door was so so nice and double checked my order with me to make sure they didn’t forget anything. Overall it was a great experience and I am very pleased.
I ordered Kung Pao chicken. Me I said there would be cashews. No cashews in my meal. I didn’t really enjoy the meal. The coating on the chicken was soggy. The sauce was extremely watery. I also ordered the firecracker shrimp, didn’t really have a taste. Got a crab salad… I thought it was like a crab cucumber type thing… but it was an actual salad with lettuce and all. Not what I was expecting. I would try this place again for a sit down. But never again carry out. Also, I had placed my order 40 minutes prior to my arrival, and when I got there, the order still wasn’t ready. Had to wait.
Bad experience. Walked in asked the hostess around iappy hour. She didn’t know if it was still gong and made sure to inform us that she was unaware of the time? Really? Place was not busy and we waited while several servers walked by. 3 of them were standing by the resister while they could see us clearly. None of them appeared very eager about the lie jobs.We got up and left. The bar tender came out fron behind the bar, was very sweet and apologetic and asked us to stay. We declined and stated we’ll pass.We were looking forward to the experience and would have excused the mishaps, but it wasn’t busy. With enough staff roaming throughout the area, why was the burden put on the bartender?I excuse restaurants today for staffing issues, but some of these staffer apparently could care a less about their jobs. I made a snarky comment to the stupid hostess on the way out who could have cared a less.It was my choice to leave. A good experience in a high class area is not too much to ask.
I enjoyed a very yummy visit to Zao Jun this evening. It was great to be at a restaurant again. Zao Jun is the new Asian restaurant near Nino Salvaggio’s at Maple and Telegraph. The General Zao’s chicken was delicious - it was prepared perfectly and included broccoli and the sweetest carrots I’ve ever tasted. I had a choice of white rice, brown rice, fried rice or fried cauliflower “rice.” That cauliflower rice was THE BOMB! I didn’t miss the real rice one bit. I also had a really good shrimp tempura roll topped with crab salad and spicy mayo. The carrot cake was a lovely way to cap off the meal. On top of the quality and taste of the food, the staff was super friendly and attentive. I will be back for more very soon.
Went for lunch the first time today, restaurant has been open for one month, open for lunch only two weeks. The food was good but did not seem definitively Asian to me even though they are self-branded as New Asian it just didnt do it for me. All of the dishes that I really wanted were far to expensive. I went with the chicken pad thai which had lots of good vegetables but didnt taste like the many other pad thai dishes I have had. There was no dedicated lunch menu yet, this place will struggle to compete with other restaurants in the area for lunch. They did have a sushi bar but I did not try any items. It was $22 for pad thai + miso soup for lunch with no drink (ice water).Service was good but I am not sure well be coming again for lunch. Ill give this one more shot in 6 months to see if they have improved the menu options and pricing. I always struggle with going to restaurants when they first open. In many cases they are still working out the kinks in many areas and that was certainly the case with Zao Jun.
Great food, great service, great conversation and great time! I ate my asparagus and steamed bok choy so fast because it was seriously delicious. Sorry guys I’ll update this review in a few days when I come back so I didn’t take the picture. I will get it next time. Thanks to everyone who works there for making me come back.
Unbelievable food. Great hospitality. Classiest chef. He actually took the time to call me when a mistake was made with my carry out order when I didn’t even care because it was so delicious. I never called to complain at all. It was fine. But I guess when he realized it, he wanted to apologize and offered to make the correct order for me on the house!!! How rare is that these days!!! Thank you for that.
I will admit I was very put off that when I got to restaurant to pick up my order, after the ready time, my food was not ready. The staff was very nice and apologetic. I did understand it’s Christmas and places that are open would be busy, but I couldn’t wait for them to prepare my order. They refunded me. They called me shortly after to apologize again and say they made my order free of charge. The food was well made and the pleasant nature of the staff lets me know we will be back!!
First time here - asian fusion, sushi/sashimi, imported beers - the lo mein was artfully prepared and service very good - prices appear a little high but this IS a higher income area - Ive had as good or better asian dishes lower priced within a 20 mile radius however this small restaurant within the shopping center does have a nice atmosphere -
My two friends and I had lunch/brunch at Zao Jun a couple of weeks ago. It was a great experience, the food was fresh and tasty, the drinks were nice, and it was a clean laid back environment. The staff kept checking in to see if we needed anything and I liked that. I actually have a seafood allergy and the gentleman that was helping us made sure things were safe for me and was very accommodating ( black guy, tall, bald head) thank you so much you made our experience very nice there
The food is delicious 😋 and the presentation is beautiful. I can never order pepper steak from any other restaurant now that Ive had it cooked correctly. I loved my sushi. Even the dessert was delicious which most places slack on. I love the menu options. Theres something for everyone. The kids selections are great and the kids drinks are so fun and creative, even adults enjoy them. The staff is professional and friendly. The restaurant is clean and well-designed. Theres a room for private parties. I could go on and on. Definitely a positive experience.
Zao Jun is a nice little place that I discovered while looking for a place to have dinner on Christmas. I only got carry out so I cant speak to the inside service. The hostess that greeted was nice and there was no service issues. We received what we ordered and she was happy to verify I had everything before I left. The food was good. We had the Sweet and Sour Chicken, Pepper steak, egg roles and salad. Everything was still pretty hot (or cold for the salad) when I got home. Everything tasted excellent. The pepper steak was great (if you like pepper or spice, this is for you) and the chicken was pretty good. The chicken was already sauced but that didnt take away from the breading. The sauce was pretty good. It wasnt cloying sweet. Better than most places. Heres the rub, they are expensive for most. We got the family deal (2 entrees, 2 Egg Rolls and a salad) and that was $60 ($70 after tip and tax). The amount of food doesnt justify the cost. For $50, I can feed 4 people vs the 3-ish from the chinese place up the road from me. This is a high end chinese place. If you are looking for a quite place (Date Night) to have dinner then I would say this is a great place. If you are trying to feed a family on a budget then I wouldnt come here. Again, the food and service was excellent, but their prices are on the high end.
Food was great, we are very impressed. The waiter Joe was awesome as well. He explained everything in great detail and was prompt and meticulous in his delivery. One star was deducted because the hostess was rude, dismissive, and arrogant for no apparent reason. She acted as if we were inconveniencing her and she was doing us a favor (middle aged slender female with glasses). Shes not doing us a favor, theres plenty of other restaurants were glad to go to.
Such great food. Caleb Selves took care of me and was super friendly and quick. Had Potstickers, Braised Pork Belly, and Dragon Sushi, all excellent choices and highly recommended. The Braised Pork Belly melts in your mouth with great flavor. Super friendly staff and very clean place. Highly recommend! Thanks again Caleb!
Very good sushi/sashimi and a good selection of other foods as well. Not sure why this place wasnt more crowded at dinner time.Full American style bar (with bar seating) with tap beer and mixed drinks. This sets it apart from some other Asian style restaurants.Ive been to plenty of sushi places in the area, and Ive been to Japan a dozen times, and the food here is quite good.12/15 update: portions are a bit small vs what Ive seen elsewhere, including Japan. Fish sometimes has a foul smell.
We ate at this restaurant on 6/23 in the evening. The staff was really friendly and attentive and even brought us extra bao buns just to be nice. That part was great! However, the food was not great. The fried rice was not fried at all and tasted as if it had been microwaved. Honestly, pretty much everything we ordered seemed microwaved and previously frozen. As we left the restaurant, we saw 2 tables that had vacated within minutes of us and both had left more than half the food on their plates and not taken it in boxes.
Not at all what I expected….in a good way. A really fun and fresh vibe with great Asian food (well beyond sushi) and a solid bar setting. Service was really good. What a pleasant surprise— I hope it develops a strong following because we need predictably good casual venues like this. Definitely recommend giving this a try. We’ll be back.
Everything here is worth trying. Great service, great food, great people. I will add - The rock shrimp is amazing in person, but when I ordered it last night for carry out every piece was just thick, super hard batter and I had to toss it out. Would not recommend this for carry out.
We went to Zao Jun for a Father’s Day celebration. The food was aromatic and delicately spiced or wait staff, Stelton, listened attentively and adjusted our orders according to our requests. The food was very fresh and had very little oil, And we’re delicious! The portions were generous and the prices were reasonable. We can’t wait to go back.
What a great find! Just moved to Michigan from New Mexico and looking for great Asian food. Close to home and what a pleasant surprise with the wonderful service, very gracious staff and the incredible food! Great menu choices, delicious, hot food, exceptional facility that was spotless and just the best way to start or finish your day. This is “must visit” restaurant.
My partner and I stopped in looking for something new and we are so happy we did. The food was delicious and the flavors were exceptional. The sweet potato roll was our favorite. We enjoyed our main dishes, the Pad Thai and Mongolian beef. The dessert wontons were too delicious to take home, still warm and dipped in raspberry sauce. Our server, Stelton was so helpful and delightful. One of our best dining experiences this year. We are adding this to our favorite places to eat.
All the food is amazing, whether from the hot kitchen or the sushi bar everything came out fast and perfect. We ordered the spicy chicken baos, salmon nigiri and the pepper steak. All great and our bar tender was very nice and helpful. Kiyo the sushi chef made us a special mango roll that was also delicious.
Literally the best Chinese and sushi I have had to date. I am a Mongolian beef connoisseur (aka, I’m picky and that’s what I always order). This was the best I’ve ever had, by a LOT. Get the cheesecake. I literally dreamt about it. It’s better than zingermans bake house in Ann Arbor, which was my favorite to date.
Came here for Our Mother’s Day Dinner because well, mother’s shouldn’t have to cook on their special day. The food was fantastic and everything came out at a very reasonable time. The wait staff provided excellent service and everyone wore a mask! I would highly recommend Zao Jun for Dine In, carryout and events. You can even order online for pickup or delivery!
Food and service excellent. It would be helpful of the online order system gave accurate pick up times. Online, the order screen showed within 60 minutes. The email confirmation stated the order would be ready in an hour. I went to pick up 25 minutes after ordering. My order was already bagged and ready to go. Im glad I showed up early; everything was hot and delicious! However, had I actually waited 60 minutes, this would likely not have been the case. Just a small glitch in your online ordering system that should be fixed. We will certainly be back - we love this restaurant!!
Tried this place cause they were on the news one morning. I was not impressed with it. I have had regular Chinese food that taste 12 times better than what I had. Plus I thought it was a little pricey. I got sesame chicken extra extra and it was not AT ALL. I will not go back.
This was my first time using Zao Jun for take out. I ordered on line to be picked up in 3 hours. My order was ready, on time, with a friendly smile. The food was really good. I ordered the family style dinner. Absolutely no complaints. It fed 3 easily with 2 having seconds. The interior looked really nice and the inside patio with the roll up doors looked really cool. As soon as I got home. I said we need to eat there as soon as we have our vaccinations for Covid. BTW the place smells amazing.
Tonight was the first time I’ve eaten at this place. I thought the menu was cool as it combines Asian cuisine of all kinds. I ordered sushi and was nervous because when ordering from a sushi place you’ve never been it’s a total gamble; you never know if it’s going to be good or not. This sushi was quite possibly the most amazing sushi I have ever had. The ingredients were super fresh, the sauces were delicious and to top it all off the presentation was beautiful. I will definitely be back :)
This was my first time at this restaurant and certainly will not be my last. Beginning with the friendliness and genuineness of our waitstaff all the way through the entire dining experience as well as the incredible quality of the food we sampled was all eye-opening. I am eagerly looking forward to my next Danny experience and sampling many more items from their diverse menu. Bon appétit
Very professional and friendly staff. Great customer service. Very clean and comfortable atmosphere. Food was awesome! I would recommend this restaurant; and plan to revisit this establishment. Great job to all of you and thank you for making this a wonderful experience.
I ordered lettuce wraps and sesame chicken. Sesame chicken was spicy which I like and lettuce wraps were a bit too minced for me and would’ve preferred a different sauce that was more soy thai chili and mustard-based. I would try again and order a few other things I saw that were of interest
I have been here twice with my family and had a good experience. I decided to take my boyfriend with me to try it during happy hour and our server overcharged us. A dish that was discounted during happy hour was listed as full price on our bill and when we asked about it, instead of charging us the happy hour price she took off $4 only. Then we also noticed that the shrimp shumais price was more than what was listed on the menu and to this our server gave the excuse that the new menus are going to be printed the next day and on those the prices are more. I work in the restaurant industry as well, and if a price is listed wrong in multiple different places then that is the price the customer should get. We left there very unhappy and will not be going back again. PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK YOUR BILL BEFORE PAYING IF YOU GO THERE. Its honestly very sad that their service is so bad when they have good food.
Getting curbside was so easy. I placed the order online, paid for it and picked it up when promised. I love that the hostess (Nicole I believe) checked my order before she brought it out to my car because I have gotten wrong/missing orders before but not from Zao Jun. The shrimp lo mein was very flavorful as was most of what we ordered. The chicken drunken noodle had the perfect amount of heat (spicy). My kids loved the kids burgers and the adults tried them too and were pleasantly surprised. I hope they put those burgers on the regular menu with sauce like Adachi does, its my favorite! We enjoyed the firecracker roll as well. Thank you for great service and food during these tough times :).
I want to start by fist saying that most of the food was very good! However, the service was unacceptably bad for the caliber of restaurant. For example, appetizers were brought out with no individual plates, sushi was brought with no soy sauce, and drinks were often left empty with a member of the table having to go find the waiter for refills. The restaurant was not very busy, which would have suggested the wait staff would be more attentive. Lastly, a member of our party saw a waiter use the urinal then walk out of the restroom and immediately start filling drinks without washing his hands.
Amazing Food but also Amazing Management. Ordered food online through DoorDash who cancelled our order smh. Called the restaurant spoke to a manager (wish I had his name) personally came and dropped off food for my coworkers and I! Best service I’ve received in a LONG time!
Once again I was disappointed by Zao Jun. This restaurant is very convenient for me, however both the inconsistency of the food quality and the poor service usually lead me to go somewhere else. Last Sunday, I was extremely lazy and Zao Jun seemed like the easiest place for me to take-out from. Perhaps they dont normally take phone-in orders...but the young lady on the phone did not seem to know how to take my order. A simple two item order became an ordeal because the young lady couldnt figure out how to enter my order. Sesame Chicken? I ended up cancelling and just went to the grocery store next door instead. When I called Zao Jun..i figured Id give them one more chance...they failed. Too bad because...if it was even mediocre...Id go there a lot.
Drove out here after seeing all the good reviews. Read online when we checked the time they were open till 10! were even more pleased when we walked up to the building and opened the door to see posted very clearly and multiple times they were open until 11! Was very displeased when we walked in around 9:15 to grab something quick to receive zero help, and then told they were closed? Ridiculous. Get your hours in order if you close sooner! And take the out of date signs down that clearly state the apparent wrong time of closing, 11. And update your google hour time, which I guess is wrong as well. Highly displeased at the lack of effort.UPDATE: was asked to reach out to clear up this matter. Sent two emails, and didn’t receive a response to either. Definitely never coming back.
Ivan was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! His customer service is outstanding! Although the overall customer service of all the workers was great he showed us so much kindness attentiveness and professionalism. On top of that, the food is extremely delicious flavorful and FRESH! And we hardly waited for our food it was served very fast. Highly recommend!
We ordered lettuce wraps, chicken pai thai, and beef fried rice. All awesome! Both entrees had lots of meat, and large chunks. I was especially surprised by beef fried rice: it was delicious and beef steak chunks, not like your typical Asian takeout.Portions were also large. Probably feeds 2 for most people. Will be back.
We had a great experience! Each dish had its own unique flavor, and not too sweet. Dishes come with plenty of whatever meat/meat substitute you order. Mary was a fantastic server! Quick service, and good prices for the atmosphere and quality.I would definitely recommend coming here for some solid and authentic Asian flavors!
My coworker and I just enjoyed a small carry out order of miso soup, crispy rice avocado and chicken bao buns.....each of the items was absolutely delicious. We are totally planning to make this our offices new happy hour spot and go to place for reasonably priced and delicious food!
We have been going to Zao Jun since they opened, also carry out. Food has always been great, service fabulous and never had a bad experience. They will make adjustments, if possible, for dietary issues. Carry out from Zao Jun helped us get through the shut down. Glad they are back open.
It was my first time there and I had a blast. My waitress Mary was a pleasure to have serving us and there was an awesome bartender I forgot his name but he was lively and def set a nice atmosphere for the event I was at. Would def recommend for any event! Also the food was great. The shrimp tampura sushi was off the wall!!!
Our first time, we ordered egg drop soup, miso soup, General Zao chicken w/ white rice, and chicken fried rice. Everything was PERFECT! Best weve found in this area by FAR, and definitely worth 5 stars! Our second time, we ordered egg rolls, samosas, Kung Pao chicken w/ vegetable fried rice, and chicken Pad Thai. The egg rolls were very greasy, the samosas were just ok, and the chicken Pad Thai was dry and completely flavorless (inedible). The Kung Pao chicken and vegetable fried rice were delicious. Overall, a 2-star experience. I will definitely order again, but not egg rolls, samosas, or Pad Thai.
Awesome lunch experience here the other day. Literally everything we ordered was delicious: from the short rib bao buns to the chicken money bags, the specialty maki rolls to the sashimi sampler, and even the edamame was terrific! The decor is very nice, though the only drawback would be its location in the middle of a strip plaza. Would definitely go back, though!
It was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had ! The waiter when asked by us what was in the Beef Lo Mein had to go to a “ cheat sheet “ to find out . He could not find the information and execused himself to find out. After watching him serve 2 other tables he returned in 15 minutes and said “ I’m not sure “. We ordered it anyway. We also ordered the Thai Beef Salad and Pad Tai with chicken . All of the meals were extremely salty. It took our server over 45 minutes to bring the Lo Mein . They first brought the Pad Tai and did not bring the Miso Soup until reminded that was ordered with the Pad Tai. The Pad Tai was brought after 30 minutes and the Miso Soup was brought 10 minutes later. Then they brought the Thai Steak Salad which was salty to say the “ least “. After waiting an additional 45 minutes the Lo Mein was finally delivered . It too was extremely salty. To the Manager’s credit after being told he would be right over by the waiter he arrived 20 minutes later and took the Lo Mein off the bill. The best part of the experience was watching the family in the next table to us enjoying their meal even though they arrived quite awhile after we did. We wished the manager good luck , frankly they are going to need it !!!!! We will never return to this establishment which is a shame because it’s 3 minutes from my home. I would definitely give this establishment a “ HUGE “ thumbs down!!!!
This place always disappoints me. I always expect it to be better than it actually is. The food is always mediocre and the prices are too high. I only get carry out from here because its quite convenient. if it werent around the corner, i would never go back. Everything always seems soggy and extra greasy...plus its never ready when they say it will be.
Really nothing to go back, lack of staff. We ordered one of their specials which was already not available at 7pm. Waited really really long for the food, specially sushi that were below average and the staff was pushy on us to drink more while we were waiting for the food. I guess it is all about the location. Really poor quality for price and no authentic food at all....you can find way better round town.
The decor is trendy the food I ate was P.F.Changy. Im never the one to write a restaurant off so I will give it another chance maybe four months down the line. With all the hype around the chef, I thought I was going to get something I never tasted before but I really could have went to PF Chang and saved myself some money
The food is mediocre. The Kung Pao chicken was rather disappointing. I could have gone to P.F. Changs and got the same thing but better quality. The fried rice was also not as good as other places. I’m disappointed with my visit but I’ll give it 4 stars since it’s still relatively new and I’m sure they can improve in the upcoming months.

2022-07-08I absolutely love it here. The ambience of the restaurant is so nice and has a modern look. The service was nice and also super quick. I went with another person so we tried a small selection of things. For appetizers we got the happy hour rock shrimp and chicken potstickers. The potstickers were good but could’ve been a bit better but the rock shrimp on the other hand was absolutely amazing and was full of different flavors. For entrees we got the drunken noodles and the almond chicken substituted with pad Thai noodles. The drunken noodles were flavorful and a little spicy which was perfect and came with a good portion. The almond chicken was also pretty tasty. I would definitely go back and try some of their other many options!

2022-05-14Dined in early on a Tuesday evening. Not crowded and had plenty of staff for the crowd. Sushi came out quickly, but my shrimp shumai dim sum took over 40 minutes later. I even had to ask about it. Could the kitchen be a problem?? It was some of the best, but the wait wasnt. Ordered the carrot cake to go. For a torte like cake version of carrot cake, it is one of the best I have had. Service was just ok. The food earned the stars.

2022-01-12Their food is delicious, much better than your typical Chinese or Asian restaurant that load your food with grease and msg. Flavor is well balanced and a lot of their small items are hand made and not brought from a supplier. The problem is their kitchen is very slow. Either they have too many take out orders to fill or they dont have enough people in the kitchen. Stir fry Chinese dishes shouldnt take 45mins to make

2022-01-09Ive been here about 6 times now, always great food, always great service! This visit I came with my UBER PICKY parents, sister and niece. My parents eat REAL Asian food, like Chinese, Vietnamese restaurants in Windsor, ON or Ann Arbor, but they really enjoyed the dishes here. Dad ate everything he ordered, no take home boxes! Mom ate most of hers and she liked everything including our sushi. We had chocolate cake and cheesecake for dessert. So good, there were no pics! Lol

2022-01-05The food here is at the top of my favorites. Always so fresh and delicious. Always a good dining experience. Had the lemon salmon sushi roll this last time and loved it. Missing some of my old favorites they haven’t had on the menu since the pandemic like almond boneless chicken, looking forward to that coming back. Love their soup when it’s cold out, but the options have been limited there too. Love that I can get cauliflower rice. The hot green tea seems to have just a hint of vanilla, love it! We always go here on a date night that involves The Maple Theater. I see a lot of carry out going on, everyone should go in and experience the fresh out of the kitchen dining experience. The bar area has lots of TV’s with sports on.

2022-01-11The food was good, but we were really disappointed they didnt have any bao buns. That was the entire reason we went to this restaurant.

2021-08-31First time trying Zao Jun! The service was amazing, everyone is friendly and the food came out quickly. We tried multiple dishes such as chicken bao bun, lo mein, rock shrimp, egg rolls, potstickers and general tso chicken. Food tastes like fresh ingredients are used and nice flavor. We enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and the modern decor. Highly recommend to try!

2022-06-13Very good food for takeout and well prepared however this establishment needs to get with the environmental protocol and start putting takeout containers in some form of other material & not plastic. We as a family are trying not to get any takeout food especially hot food in any kind of plastic container because of the contaminants. Also this is the second time we had takeout and they forgot the lettuce for the chicken lettuce wraps, boo!The people that work here literally are the nicest staff of any restaurant we go to!!
