UHaul really needs to step up their game.My experience today has been terrible. I reserved a trailer online ahead of time at a specific location because it's close to me. I received an email a day before stating that my reservation was updated and that the trailer I requested was now available at a different location. I'm thinking okay then because I need it. So we drive to the other location which is about 20 minutes away and when we get there the employee says” uhhh the trailer isn't here at this location for you” I show the employee the email stating that the trailer is available for me and he looks like a deer in headlights. After he fiddles with the system he tells me the trailer is available at the original location I had requested. I'm quite frustrated at this point and the employee could care less. No apology, no further customer service to even attempt to make my experience better. We then start the journey back to the UHaul location where I wanted to pick up the trailer. I put my earbuds in to call UHaul customer service because I really want to provide feedback about what has transpired.I'm on hold for over an hour! I was on hold while going to the UHaul location and when I get there guess what- they need to scan my license! My license expired back in May 2021 and I renewed it online. I rented a UHaul truck a month ago when I moved to Modesto and the UHaul location said no problem! We believe you just show us the proof. Imagine my frustration when this comes up. I explained to the employee but he insisted that it's their policy blah blah blah. So I use my dad's license. We finally get the trailer and yes, still on hold with UHaul customer service. I finally reach someone who hears me out and tells me at the end of my rant that there's nothing he can do for me aside from forward my information to the UHaul manager at the location I was at. Really UHaul?! You had me holding for over an hour just to tell me that!? SMH. I expected better service. So disappointed. Let's see what the manager says when they call me.

Generally I have found businesses that hang a sign regarding being rude to their employees, we will ask you to leave or call legal action, are defending bad employees. This business as again reinforce that point. Rudest employees I have ever met.I can see why they would think they need to hang a sign to protect their employees, no doubt they get numerous complaints from the consumers.

Absolutely the worst UHaul customer service ever! Reservation #87223046I've used UHaul more than seven times in the last few years, and this experience takes the cake! Not only did they not allow me to pick up my equipment where I rented it, which is 15 minutes from my house, they chose TWO places thirty minutes from my house in two different directions, so I had to drive south for thirty minutes to drop off my husband, then drive north an hour to pick up the second item.To make matters worse, when I got there, I needed to use the bathroom. The lady informed me they didn't have a public bathroom. At this point, I'm still being nice as I ask, “Where do you go; there's no place around here?” She informs me, “We don't have ‘public' restrooms,” then informs me my appointment is no good; “we won't have your equipment for two and a half hours.” I'm still calm, because I really need to use the bathroom. “Ma'am, I've been driving for one and a half hours, may I please use your facilities?”“No...there's a place down the street.” Now I'm thinking... “Why should a place down the street allow me? I didn't spend $3000 there.”I beg her, remind her how far I've driven, and that I'm the only person inside the establishment, and she insists, “No!”At this point, I run out the door, because the UHaul is located in a commercial district. First gas station, no facilities. First fast food restaurant, closed down.Twenty minutes later, in tears, I find a fast food restaurant. Now tell me, as a paying customer, when you know your location is in the middle of nowhere, AND you're changing your appointment time by two and a half hours, why wouldn't you allow a fifty-year-old woman who's begging you, in tears, to use your restroom? What is the “customer service” world coming to?I can't even express how utterly sad I am that they would treat a customer who's spending three thousand dollars like this! I mean, she's human, right? Not a robot! Surely she understands physical needs. Then again, I guess not! ?

This place legitimately needs to be shut down.I made a reservation with Uhaul Modesto to ship a Ubox to Michigan, but at the last second it was transferred to these guys. It has been one of the most stressful and frustrating experiences in my entire life, no joke! Originally I was supposed to load on 12/13, box shipped 12/16, and arrive in Michigan 12/31. Heres the actual progression:12/11/19 - Website said I had 24/7 access to my U-box. I found out only AFTER calling this place that I had to access my box no less than 2 hours before closing. The lady I spoke to sounded like she had zero idea what she was talking about...I had to pry and do all the thinking for her in order to get any answers.12/13/19- Reservation was cancelled from underneath me without any notice on the day of the reservation. I only found out because I gave them a courtesy call that I was on my way down there so they could grab my box. This lack of communication is a theme with this company. The pickup was immediately bumped to 12/19 because of this. Thankfully I had my van rental for the full weekend.12/14/19 - I started loading my stuff. Guy (Fernando?) sold me a lock for 3 or 4 bucks. Turns out it cost almost double that when I checked out, after I already placed the lock on my ubox.12/21/19 - I arrived in Michigan and noticed the box was still Preparing for Shipment. I kept an eye on the box for a few more days, and whenever the Pickup Date arrived, it would shift forward a couple more days.12/24/19 - I called the u-haul 1-800 number. They said it would be shipping by Thursday 12/26. It did not. I expected this with it being the day after Christmas.12/27/19 - I called u-haul again on Friday. Same response just to keep an eye out12/28/19 - I called the u-haul store directly. The person said theyd leave a note for the manager and he would call me back. Surprise, he didnt12/28/19 - Later that day I called the 1-800 number, and, SURPRISE, the box was magically scanned for shipment that morning, shortly after I called the store. How long would the box have sat there if I hadnt made this call?12/30/19 - Box finally ships on Monday. Called the store again and decided to wait for however long it took to speak directly to the manager. waited on hold for 15 minutes to speak to the manager, and he said it was Being loaded on the truck right now. Apparently it actually was. My box was supposed to leave on 12/16, but thanks to this store, didnt leave until 12/30.Once my stuff was on its way, I could finally breath again and was almost ready to let all of this slide...until today. When I made my reservation, the website said I would be receiving 1 month of free storage in Michigan. This morning, I was charged $99.15 for storage, resulting in an overdraft fee from my bank. Apparently, because these guys cancelled and re-made my reservation, I lost the promotion but still had the storage contract. Luckily, I didnt end up needing it and the store out here is going to give me my money back, but regardless these guys tried to steal $100 from me after all of this. And you know the kicker of all of this? The uhaul website lists a guaranteed arrival date. Thats a straight up lie. Its only guaranteed once its on the truck, so they moved around my guaranteed arrival date however they saw fit. There is zero incentive for a store like this to fulfill their end of the contract....and I will be receiving exactly zero compensation for all the problems this place caused. I try to be a nice guy and get along with as many people as possible, and I understand that things happen. But I will not put up with paying a company to screw me over like what happened here.DO NOT GO HERE. And most importantly, DO NOT EVER USE U-BOX. Spend the extra money on a Pod, or a trailer, or anything else, but do not entrust your belongings to this company.

Was told a bunch of nonsense regarding a truck rental I remember speaking with a gentleman a few days prior about being able to pick up a truck to due to our wallet being stolen and we were at dmv replacing the IDs and licenses thatd when I called the home depot truck rental location and they said a temporary print out would be fine however I was rudley explained to and denied today about the truck honestly, something about sop or pictures of license, so idk what they are talking about sounds like nonsense and dude did not know how to do his job because what was the guy from the other day speaking about, go to other locations for your tool and truck rental needs this place was a absolute joke I will be doing all my masonry and construction jobs elsewhere from now on, we both have to work for supebowl Sunday I know it socks but that doesnt mean you have to be rude to the customer over the phone please act accordingly your at your job. Maybe a little respect next time?

Security Public Storage

The man in the office is fairly nice and easy to speak with and get along with the storage space is reasonably priced compared to most places however we have had issues with office staff lying to their supervisor in the office. Had an experience that we were unable to get out using the gate code we called and asked if they would let us out the woman said to walk in the office and show id I asked if it was going to be an issue that my id was expired and she stated yes and that I'd have to call the other person on unit for the code. I said I tried he's at work and isn't answering she then tried to say she couldn't help me so I said you can take my money but you can't give me the information to the unit I'm paying for and that I'd be taking my business elsewhere. At this point she decided to open the gate however ended up lying to her supervisor saying she was going to give me the code when she stated she wasn't going to because of my expired id. So I would just recommend being careful with certain office staff if you choose this facility. If it wasn't for this experience I would give it a five star rating.
Pelandale Self Storage

TLDR; IF YOU ARE GOING TO USE THIS LOCATION FOR BUDGET RENTALS PLEASE BE WARY!!!!!I feel like I need to start off by saying that I dont like leaving negative reviews because they can do real damage in terms of business, but Ive never had such a bad experience. I refrained from leaving this review for an entire month because I didnt want to write something out of anger. That being said I am generally level-headed about mishaps because I understand that things happen. This review is specific to the incident I had regarding moving equipment and a rental truck. I havent used the storage units here, so I cant speak on that.I am glad that some people have had a good experience with their rental trucks and moving equipment. I can see how renting a truck from here would be OK for smaller moves. The only truly positive thing I can say is that the customer service reps from Budget have been cordial.Without getting into too much personal detail; we had a hard time with the rental truck, moving equipment, roadside assistance, and the on site employee.Reading the reviews I have seen others who had similar experiences.Theres a lot to be said about the older woman we dealt with at this location. Her unprofessionalism was the driving factor for this review. She took a stressful situation from irritating to INFURIATING. She had a lot to say outside of being apologetic about major inconveniences that caused us a day of travel time. I understand that some of those things were beyond her control, but there was simply no need for her commentary-especially considering that we were not directing our frustrations at her initially. She later backpedaled and apologized after I had to remove myself from the building to keep composure. The things she felt the need to say before that had me flabbergasted. We ended up getting a refund, which Im grateful for. However, you cant be reimbursed for lost time or unneeded stress. That was just the tip of the iceberg; we had a HORRENDOUS experience which I can go on and on about. Instead I will just leave you with a few things to consider and look out for instead.-DOUBLE CHECK THE EQUIPMENT EVEN THOUGH WHOEVER IS UP FRONT SAID THEY DID. Check to see if the truck is dirty so you dont have to be surprised when you get home and have to clean it out yourself. Check to make sure the blinkers and brake lights work before going too far. If youre using a tow dolly be sure to check the condition of that too. Make sure the lights on it work and that the safety harnesses and lock pins are in good working condition. If you feel that any of the equipment is unsafe or unfit for the road dont let them tell you otherwise-dont jeopardize your safety, the safety of others, and the safety of your property!-Drive the truck around for a bit before actually heading home to load it up because there might be a check engine light that pops up-we drove the rental truck from the location to our apartment and then back (to return the tow dolly) which was less than 40 miles when it popped up on the dash.-If a check engine light comes up it might be easier to drive back to the location and ask them for a different truck if possible. Do the same inspection you did with the first truck. I dont know if this was the case with others but roadside assistance was extremely incompetent and had us waiting for hours, drove to the wrong location, and then left us waiting with no further communication.-FROM WHAT IVE READ IN OTHER REVIEWS YOU DONT HAVE TO BUY THE INSURANCE.-If anyone up front gives you a hard time just be adamant that you are unsatisfied with the equipment/truck. Hopefully they will be accommodating, but from our experience and from reading other reviews that will probably not be the case.-When it comes down to it you are probably better off getting a refund and going with a different rental truck company.Moving is very stressful and I know that its enticing to save a little bit of money, just be wary. I hope you all have a good experience and be safe out there!
U-Haul Moving & Storage at McHenry Ave

First of all, the access hours at this location is not what's listed online or in the app. Their access hours are actually 7am to 7 pm and apparently according to the manager Mike, I'm supposed to call to confirm the hours are different from what's posted online and in the app. I arrived with hired help at 8 pm and was denied access into the building. I experienced Awful customer service from Mike. Not to mention, Their elevator is out of service for access to second floor and they don't have anything of the same size on the first floor to give me. After all the issues and expenses I incurred due to them not being open, they were not willing to offer me any compensation of a free month of rental for the 70 extra miles driven in the U-Haul and additional day rental costs to return the truck. I also had to take the day off of work to handle this situation and find storage at another location and had to pay for the moving guys a second time. Absolutely awful experience with the manager Mike and his bad attitude. Would not recommend trusting them with my belongings.
