U-Haul Moving & Storage of El Cajon
1186 E Main St, El Cajon, CA 92021, United States
My fiancé and I moved across country this past December from El Cajon, California to Jacksonville, Florida and needed to find a way to get our belongings out there. We called and received several quotes from various moving companies and found U-Haul to be the cheapest and quickest company able to get us our stuff to Florida. After weighing all of the options, we decided to go with one of there U-Box shipping containers. The closest location to our house was the U-Haul in El Cajon. To rent and load your stuff into a U-Box, you have a few options- you can have them bring it to your house for an extra fee to load it, you can bring all of your stuff and pack it into the U-Box at their location or you can pick it up yourself with your own vehicle. We decided to have my father come with his truck to pick it up so we could load it ourselves. We spoke with the general manager on 11/25/20 (who seemed to be under the influence of meth/cocaine) about what we needed to do to pick this box up, and he said all we needed to do was show up and get it. We made plans with my father to take the morning off work that Friday to help us pick it up in his truck. On 11/27/20, we showed up to pick up the U-Box and the same manager was working. He said oh you cant pick it up, you need a 24 hour in advance reservation to get it. What?!?! We were like, do you remember us? We were just here a day ago and you told us to just come get it. He told us sorry, you still have to make a reservation (even though the U-Box was sitting RIGHT OUTSIDE the office and NO ONE was going to be using it!!! We then had to ask my father to again take time off from his schedule to come back the following day on 11/28/20 to pick up the U-Box. The manager said to be there when they open at 8:30 so we could get first in line, and when we showed up they dont even open until 9!!!! So we finally get the U-Box loaded up to take home and the manager tells us to drop it back off by Monday 11/30/20 so we can guaranteed have our items shipped to us in Florida by 12/17/20. We take it home and load it, and bring it back only to find out we cant even drop it off!!! We need to bring it at a specific time because they dont have forklift operators during the entire day!!! So we bring it back at the specified time and finally get this thing shipped. Then it is a complete disaster once it gets to Florida- they ship it to the wrong location and actually lose/cant find our U-Box!!!! So we dont end up being able to locate and get into it until 12/23/20, at which point U-Haul is threatening to charge me another $90 worth of storage for keeping the box longer than a month if we dont get our stuff out of it by 12/28/20. Keep in mind, I am almost 8 months pregnant by this time and have to deal with all of this while my fiancé is at work for the Navy!!!! Then, to top it all off, they tell me I cant just come get my things out of the U-Box, that I need a 24 hour reservation to pick it up and on top of that, they DOUBLE CHARGE MY DEBIT CARD taking thousands of dollars out of my account.......! Please, please, please- take our advice- spend the extra money going with another moving company and dont get taken advantage of by U-Haul- we certainly will NEVER use them again!!!!

Honestly if can give no 0stars I would Latherio Hoffman shouldn't be working in customer service. June 24th around 6pm when I thought I did a reservation there. Everyone was busy. But Mr Hoffman was busy cleaning his car and smoking a black&mild (cigarette) right outside the door. Came to help me after I was inside for the past 10 minutes. He was very short answer and not explain why my reservation didn't go through. He was getting annoyed and rolling his eyes and giggling. He didn't care. Until Gerald stepped in and said I'm sorry for the inconvenience we unfortunately don't have anything under my name and that the system didn't reserve for me. He recommended me to go to national city uhual because they have them there. I did another reservation the following week July 1st same place at, where I had the terrible incident with Latherio Hoffman because it was a convenient place for me. MrHoffman tried to be nice this time but he wasn't listening to me. I picked up 7/1/23 6:15pm told mr hoffman I needed the uhual for 24hrs. He wrote return time 3:15pm on 7/2/23. He charge me 35 miles when I told him 28 miles. And I asked him if can do anything about the mileage cost for the inconvenience from the last week and said “nah “ I didn't argue and took what ever because nothing good would come out of arguing with him. Terrible customer service by Latherio Hoffman. He should work somewhere that doesn't involve people.

I liked how strong the engine ran. Also, the cab in back was short enough to park in apt complex, while leaving room for customers to get by. Staff was helpful and friendly as well.

Doug Steiner - State Farm Insurance Agent
2456 Fletcher Pkwy, El Cajon, CA 92020, United States
Ive been with Doug Steiner office before he took over the previous agent who I loved as well. Id say Ive been with state farm since the early 90s. I have the car and life insurance, my son has the car and insurance for his home and the youngest will be added shortly once he gets his license. I almost forgot my mom, she has car insurance through Doug as well. And I always brag about the service hes given me. My bestie just joined him a few months ago. Hes really a great man. Hes taken care of me, my family and friends. . Hes a family household name. Hes really helped me and my family more than you know. He and his team return my calls immediately!!! I have been in an accident and they really took care of me. I know many people arent educated on insurance but my friend became an insurance agent based on his lack of knowledge on coverage, he thought paying his measly 50.00 monthly service with this unknown company, would cover him in an accident, little did he know he had no coverage for himself and no car. All I can say is get the highest coverage, because if you dont have enough coverage, the damage you cause to someone, and if your coverage doesnt cover the damages, they will go after your earnings. Please please dont tailgate, my words of advice. P.s.i love the ability to talk to an agent 24/7. While shopping for a car after hours we were able to leave the car lot fully covered. And get life insurance!!! Dont leave your loved ones to have to ask for go fund me help. As much as I want to give, I cant. I made it my responsibility to care for my family after I have passed. If youre a homeowner and or have children. You want them to live comfortable as possible without you. If you choose Doug as your agent, it will be your best investment you made for you and your family. Just sayin...
Nearby Towing & Roadside Service
1412 Naranca Ave, El Cajon, CA 92021, United States
We were in a pretty nasty car accident and our car was stuck in the middle of the road blocking all cars that were trying to exit.We called a few tow companies who put us in queue - but when we called Nearby Towing and explained the situation, they said they would be there in less than 20 minutes! They made a super stressful situation a little more manageable.FYI - if you don't have towing included in your insurance, they are the most economical rate available.

WORDS cannot describe how grateful I am to Charlie for everything he did for us on our wedding day!!! We hired his services as a videographer for our September 2017 wedding; we booked the most basic package and indicated that we already had a great photographer and literally only needed a camera to be set up on a tripod to record but didnt need anything fancy. Charlie communicated clearly, directly, and with so much detail and professionalism every time I emailed back and forth with him; he is a true businessman! A few days before the wedding, Charlie emailed us to inform us that he would be there personally, which was exciting! Not only was he there on time and prepared on our wedding day, but he also brought an extra assistant and extra camera with him in the name of fabulous customer service! From the moment we saw him there that day, we noticed that he was always smiling and was a warm person to be around; he also never stopped moving, making sure the cameras were always in the right area and were capturing the moments he wanted them to. Charlie was flexible and didnt panic when we were unable to answer questions on the day of during events or and knew what to do as we moved around our venue constantly. He pulled us aside momentarily to record some special moments in which we spoke directly into the camera which was really special. :) Even though we went 7 minutes over time, Charlie agreed to stay and did not charge us more because of his belief in GREAT customer service. Even though he insisted that we shouldnt worry about the 7 minutes, we chose to compensate him for this time and tip as much as we possibly could because he truly went over the top to provide us with a wonderful experience! We are no videographers, but we paid for the cheap package and we definitely got much more than what we paid for. Charlie and his assitant captured precious moments for us that went above and beyond just setting a camera up on a tripod and walking away. My husband and I just sat down today and watched all of the footage captured on one of our three cameras and the quality is pretty amazing! We could not have asked for more, especially for how incredibly inexpensive his services were!Thank you Charlie!! You are a 5-star vendor and were definitely one of the highlights of our wedding! We cant WAIT to watch the footage you and your assistant captured in the other two cameras :)

Took my 4Runner here 4 times for leaking transmission. Left it there 2 weeks and they claim they found no leaks but charged over $3,000 to replace the transmission pan gasket and some bolts at no charge. Transmission fluid is still leaking on the street and driveway. it was never fixed. I stopped by at 4:45 on Friday afternoon the owner gives me an attitude because he wants to leave early for his birthday and was upset because I asked for receipts. I just want my transmission to stop leaking bro. ?The 2nd time I took it in for leaks they charged $1376 to replace the rear differential. But apparently didnt think the leaks were important ? ?Now I have to pay ANOTHER mechanic to do what I paid them to do. ?♀️
WeldTec Designs
886 Gable Way, El Cajon, CA 92020, United States
To start Ill explain why we wanted to lift our 23CB Freelander motorhome. Our RV was very low to the ground. It was hard to get in and out of most driveways, i.e. to get gas or park, without hitting the drag bars in the rear. Also, the dump tank lines could hit the ground unless I went at a 45 degree angle up some driveways. Some dump stations were higher than my valves, so I had to drive to more places to find a place to dump.I researched on the Internet to find some one that could do the job of lifting this RV, similar to the way I did 50 years ago on my Jeeps. Over time I called many places in multiple states to get information on how they would perform this kind of work. None gave me the needed answers until I called Weldtec Designs.I was amazed that the lady that answered the phone, Alyssa, knew about the problems I was dealing with. I asked some very technical questions (ones the other places didnt explain and just gave an answer such as, Dont worry well take care of it). Alyssa answered my questions, which were about things I knew had to be dealt with to put a lift on this unit. She gave me the location of short YouTube films to watch of their procedures and parts. No one else I contacted did this.Alyssa told me they could have it done in two to three days. I had thought about doing the work myself, but if I were to buy the parts and do it myself in my shop, at my age, it would probably take months. I made an appointment in the spring to incorporate a vacation trip as Weldtec was about 1200 miles away. When we arrived at their shop, Alyssa was waiting outside and checked the items that needed to be done prior to their work, which we had already done. We left the RV with Weldtec. We had previously arranged for a rental car and motel (quite reasonable in El Cajon) and went sight seeing while the work was performed. Jeremy, the owner and person in the videos, made sure of each detail of the work and that the RV was properly aligned. (Make sure cabinet doors and drawers are latched, because it goes for a test drive.)When we saw the finished RV, it was a beauty! It looked great with lots of ground clearance. Then Jeremy said, Lets go for a ride, and had me drive. He guided me to the highway where we drove a few miles. What a ride compared to the past! The steering was so much more solid; the ride smoother. To top off the ride he took me down a gravel road with many bumps and holes. In the past I had to creep down a road like this so I hesitated. He said, Dont worry just go. I did. I was amazed. Then it was the big test, a driveway into a gas station. I approached the dip of the driveway and planned to make an angle approach from habit and started to slow way down. Again he said, Just go. I did. Wow! We made it just fine.We now have a much better RV. On the way home we drove out in the desert a couple times, enjoying our new freedom.I can not say enough about the way Weldtec explained things, were always ready to answer my questions on the phone, and helped us through the whole process including storing our refrigerated food while the RV was worked on. And Jeremy went with us during the test ride! Our thanks to Alyssa for answering so many questions on my phone calls, and to Jeremy for a great job that made our RV wonderful to drive.
Christian Roofing
1226 Greenfield Dr, El Cajon, CA 92021, United States
After interviewing representatives at six roofing companies and receiving reasonable bids from three of them, I hired Christian Roofing in February 2022 to re-roof my 1941 Craftsman-style home, add a new roof cover over my front porch pergola and repair a flat roof on a non-permitted backroom that was added to my house in the 1950s.My project was definitely a challenging one. First, I required that the roofer remove three layers of shingles (including the original wood shingles) from the main house and the separate garage, and I required that the old roofing material be moved off site without using a container trailer along the side the house on my narrow paver driveway. Second, I wanted the roofer to develop some way to divert all the water that flows down the roof and through the pergola directly onto the porch every time it rained. There was no easy way to add a workable gutter system between the pergola and the roof because the pergola was almost as high as the roof eaves. And third, I needed the original torched roof on the backroom repaired. This leaky roof represented a difficult challenge because gas and electrical lines were spread willy-nilly over the flat roof and through it in several spots and a web of makeshift gutters had been placed on the roof in a failed effort to keep rain water from pooling there and penetrating the flat roof.Of the three reasonable bids I received, the one from family-owned Christian Roofing was the most expensive, but project manager Josh easily showed he was the most knowledgeable, interested and experienced roofer of the folks I interviewed because he could quickly and carefully explain in laymans terms what his team would do for all three sub-projects. I also learned later that the brand he recommended for roof tiles was the same one that I favored after my own independent research, and that his bid was higher than the others bids in part because he offered a longer warranty on the house roof (10 years) and on the pergola cover and flat roof repair (20 years). And so, I chose him.During construction, his team repeatedly did extra things to reduce my concerns. For example, even though I forgot to do it, team members climbed into my attic and covered my furnace with a plastic tarp to keep the furnace from damage during removal of the old roof layers. During debris removal, an old light in the attic stopped working. One of the supervisors, Enrique, climbed up there and replaced the bulb. He also re-attached a furnace lid that came off during the commotion. I found out later he also re-attached some HVAC ducting that apparently came loose even before they started. On the main roof, the team was careful and efficient. Installation took two days. On the porch pergola cover, I watched as Josh and company spend six hours determining how to construct the cover. It was obvious they love their work. Among many great ideas, Josh added a layer of shiplap underneath the cover on top of the pergola rafters that made the porch cover seem a homey part of the porch that had always been there. On the backroom flat roof, Josh helped me hire a plumber to remove an extraneous gas line and reroute the main gas line and an AC unit exhaust off the roof entirely. At his recommendation, I had his team build a narrow long wooden box with a metal top across the middle of the flat roof. Inside we put the remaining electrical line and related HVAC refrigerant line . I ended up with a torch roof on both sides of this box, and no penetration points on the roof material at all. None of the other bidders offered a similar plan. The rain (a week after project completion) proved there were no leaks in the flat roof or anywhere else.As a side note, even though I didn't hire Josh's team to redo the gutters on my home, they did re-attach all the old still-usable gutters on most of the house for free, saving me at least $1,000.Without reservation, I would recommend this company for any roofing job big or small. They showed they have the skill, experience and attitude to ensure a positive outcome.
